[OOC: Since it was abruptly ended so soon after it started, it was decided to post what we had so far and finish it on the forum.]
Characters Involved:
Niyt, adolescent female wolf
Haze, elder male wolf
Tariro, male wolf
Helios, male wolf
=== Storyteller's Butte ===
There's a song, now how does it go? Niyt picks her way slowly across the sands, her voice picking its way uncertainly through the melody. The fragments of it have been caught in her head all day, and yet she can't quite draw them together. "A land across - " No, that's not it. There was something about the land, though, and... a single golden tree? Or was it a flower? She can't quite recall, though the memory is tauntingly close.
Haze is thankful spring has finally arrived. He'd found this past winter to be rougher than it rightly should have been, particularly compared to the bad one the year before -- and he knew it was due to his growing age. He could see it in his mate and her sister, as well...and it affected him more than he thought it would. Even so, it did cause him to enjoy the little things more than he used to...and so when he hears the faintest notes of a young she-wolf's melody, his brindled ears prick upwards. The elder can't help but join in with his own refrain, announcing his presence as he approaches the source.
At the Storyteller's Butte, Haze howls.
As the seasons come and go, so does a certain white wolf whos appearance is made known with a lone howl from the cover of nearby brush. Out from his cover, the wolf steps onto the Butte with hope in his eyes and curiosity entering his ears. Was it song, or perhaps the lyrics of one in the making; whatever it was Tariro sought to find it as evidence he was not alone. It is a howl that brings his advance to a hold, however, looking around for the somewhat familiar presence of its owner.
Helios tilts his head, a slight yawn escaping him before he lifts his head and glances around the area. The sounds of others around have caught his attention it seems. The wolf slowly stretches and a forepaw lifts to scratch across his neck a few times before he just flops back over onto his side and just goes back to relaxing upon his spot off to the side where everyone else may be found upon the Butte itself. He doesn't seem that worried that others are around, Alaqua knows his around after all, hopefully she told others.
Niyt pricks her ears at the sound of those howls, her song growing silent for a moment - and then she grins. Oh, of course! She doesn't know where in the song, but there's the bit that goes - ~*A call, a voice, a singing free - So free, will you, return to me? *~ She half-howls it, her young voice rising high as she returns the greeting and only breaking on one or two notes. She pauses, then, in song and motion, her ears flicking as she awaits the arrival of those just announced, or further indication of their presence.
Haze pauses once he reaches the gathering that's growing around the skyscraping butte, taking a moment to observe who all is present. The singer appears to be one of Cerulean's first generations, and the alpha has come around again...but who's this? Haze sniffs at the air in Helios' direction, trying to place the vaguely familiar wolf in his mind, before finally stating simply: "...you smell of Lazuli."
It may be his job to protect and lead the pack, but that doesn't mean Tariro has to be all high and mighty about it either. Taking him a moment to find the owner of the howl, Haze, he smiles upon sight of the old wolf just before spotting his niece; her song a quick reminder of her mother. A gentle smile on his face, the alpha turns back toward Haze, his ears pulling back slightly catching his words about one of Lazuli. Treking up, he wonders who it could be.
