Skelaghe - Female Wolf
Chandani - Female Cougar
- Rolling Foothills -
The autumn sun is high, and Skelaghe is sprawled out on a large rock near the mountain, enjoying the feel of the sun on her back. For the first time since arriving in these lands, Skelaghe is at a healthy weight for heading into winter. Her tail wags slowly even in her near-sleep. WHatever is currently occupying her daydreams must be pleasant. She has not been seen in Amaranth for many months, and her depature was sudden, but whatever caused it, it can't have been that bad.
Chandani makes her way into the area not wanting to head too far away from the Amaranth territory. The female cougar is looking around the area enjoying the scenery appearing not to notice the familliar wolf.
Though she would be loathe to admit it, Helaku's wariness has rubbed off on Skelaghe, at least a little bit. Maybe it's because of what was done to him. Maybe it is due to the cougars that chased them. Or maybe it's even due to the thoughts of approaching motherhood. Regardless, when the sounds of a large approaching animal reach her ears, she lifts her head, just slightly, and opens her eyes fully. Chandani draws no recognition, but Skelaghe can see the red markings, which is the only reason she does not slip off of the rock to hide. She does chuff out an announcement of her presence that is almost as much warning as it is a greeting, despite the fact that she is no where near the size of a cougar.
Chandani stops where she is hearing the chuff. The cougaress turns towards the direction it was coming from noticing the other female. "Hello." She greets not moving any closer not knowing what is going on exactly with the warning that the wolf made the amanranth cougar decides to wait and see how Skelaghe will react to her.
Skelaghe remains on her rock. And, as the greeting from Chandani is pleasant enough, Skelaghe offers the still only vaguely familiar female cougar a genuine smile and says, "Good afternoon." Skelaghe perks her ear to the direction of her den, listening for any hint that Helaku might be around. Luckily, there is no sign of him.
Chandani blinks her eyes a little as she slowly starts to head closer towards the wolf, "Is something wrong?" She asks curiosity getting the better of her not really expecting a response to the question. She has not seen the wolf in a while and the cougar actually missed Skelaghe.
Skelaghe remains on the rock, still lying down. As it is, that may just put Chandani and Skelaghe eye to eye, should the female cougar get very close. "No. It's just... My mate isn't very fond of cougars." With good reason. For her. She would hate to have to place herself between Helaku and any cougar, though.
Chandani blinks her eyes a little, "I understand." She says in a soft voice keeping her attention on the wolf. "I did not know you had a mate." The female adds looking around the area cautiously. "How have you been doing? Though if you do not mind my asking." Trying to hide her worries that the wolf's mate might be around somewhere.
Skelaghe is still getting used to the idea of having a mate, herself. It surprises her, though, at least a little bit, that this cougar feels she knows Skelaghe enough to mention it. The last time Skelaghe saw Chandani for more than jsut a minute or two was when Chandani was still a cub. They passed ways when Skelaghe was in Amaranth more recently, but... It is hard to keep them all apart, sometimes. "I've been well..." Then, looking more than a little embarrassed, she adds, "Forgive me for not remembering your name..."
Chandani blinks her eyes as she says, "That is alright. I am Chandani." The big cat introduces herself. "It is nice to see you again." Pausing for a moment as though she's trying to remember something. "Skelaghe was it?"
"Chandani?" Skelaghe's smile brightens, and she stands and hops down off of the rock quickly. "You've grown so much!" No thought is given toward Chesmu, though Skelaghe knows of his demise. Hopefully, they can keep this meeting happy. "Yes, I'm Skelaghe. It is nice to see you, Chandani."
Chandani returns the smile, "Yes I have. It is nice to see you as well. I actually missed seeing you around. I have not seen you in a while and was wondering what happened to you."
Where to start? Skelaghe doesn't even try. Instead, sticking with her desire to keep things happy, Skelaghe says, only, "Everything is well, now. Better than well. And how are you, Chandani?"
Chandani keeps her attention on Skelaghe as she's also trying to keep things happy. "That is good to hear. I am doing alright." the cougar says. "Good actually but I think things could be better for me. I can not complain though."
"Things could always be better. It's what encourages us to strive for more." Skelaghe is very happy where she is right now, though. She's content to keep things as they are through the autumn and winter, rather than push for more of anything.
Chandani does not turn away from the wolf, "That is true. It also helps you to work harder for what you want as well." Then adds, "When I was a cub it seems if I remember correctly that I've heard you tell stories. Do you still do that?"
Skelaghe's smile widens slightly, and she says, "I think I will do that until the day I pass on." Hopefully. Not all of her stories are as bright as they once were, but she will never lose her passion for it. Not as long as she still has a passion for life, anyway.
Chandani keeps her attention on Skelaghe with interest, "That is good to hear. It seems like back when I was a cub. I once asked to hear a story from you. But I do not think. I ever heard any of the stories from you."
Sadly, Skelaghe does not remember meeting Chandani /that/ well. She remembers the energetic, bright young cub, but she does not remember much of their conversation. "I'm sorry we didn't get the chance, back then. We'll have to rectify that soon." But not now. Not until Skelaghe has the chance to break it to her mate that she might be spending some time with a cougar, so that Helaku will, hopefully, be a little less snarly.
Chandani nods a little as she says, "Alright. But if you decide not to then that is alright. I will undertand." The female speaks in a sincere tone of voice not saying anything else at the moment. Instead the female cougar waits to hear Skelaghe's response to her spoken words.
"I would love to pass on a story to you, Chandani. And to anyone else who might want to hear. I ought to head back to my den soon, though. Perhaps we could meet back here in a few days?" That would give Skelaghe more than enough time to make Helaku a little more comfortable with the idea.
Chandani nods to the wolf, "That sounds good. I can be back here in a few days. I will be looking foward to seeing you again and hear the story." She says. "I should probably head back to the Amaranth territory soon too."
Skelaghe gives a nod of her head, then says, "In that case, I will see you in a few days, Chandani. Travel well." It's a pleasant goodbye. Much more pleasant than the greeting she had for Chandani, anyway.
Chandani returns the nod as she says, "I will see you then, SKelaghe." She then turns around and starts to head back to her home lands in Amaranth.
