Maple Glade
----------------
After their last confrontation, Tix had undergone several different trains of thought regarding what to do with herself and her newborn son. Of course, had she known she was expecting a later fawn to be born shortly after, she would have been able to choose her course of action easier. Originally, Tix had thought of simply abandoning the herd as soon as Hotah was strong enough to travel and taking him elsewhere to other lands. Of course, now with the birth of a second fawn, a female, the Whitetail female could no longer take that option. She herself would not be capable of caring for two offspring whilst travelling. However, upset with Roscoe's accusations of the pibald fawn's "deformation" being her fault, Tix had little desire to be seen by the Prince ever since. Yet, with the potential dangers of being alone, the doe realised that soon enough she would have to return to the safety of the Herd's lands. And so, with a certain amount of reluctance, Tix had waited until both fawns were capable of travel before beginning a slow journey back towards the Glade. Hopefully the birth of the little female fawn was enough to take Roscoe's mind off Hotah's different appearance. Either way, Tix would not abandon her son so easily regardless. As Tix finally stepped back into the familiar glade, it was hardly kept secret or quiet. Should any other Whitetail or Elk be around, they would certainly notice her presence. Especially so, since now at her side, were two fawns.
Tehya is following and staying very close to her mothers side as she wonders where they were gone. She then stops as her mother stops and looks around and wonders what this strange place is. As she is more use to place she though was home. As she the yawns a little bit.
Roscoe too had gone through many changes since his outburst at the birth of his 'defective 'son. From knowing that he was right, to feeling guilty and knowing one hundred percent that he was wrong. He'd looked long and hard for Tix around different areas of the forest, but the doe was a better mother than either he or she probably realized, since he had never found her. Worry had grasped him, believing for a short day or so that she had abandoned the herd due to his horrible behavior, and he couldn't blame her if she did. However, he eventually figured that she wouldn't just leave. They'd fought before, and this was no different. Not to him, at least. He would apologize profusely for his boorish behavior, would accept Hotah as his first born son, and would teach him all the things he needed to know once he reached a certain age. Prepared for the loung journey he felt was ahead of him, the Prince strode gracefully through the glade, before he heard the obvious swishing of leaves and whatnot on the ground just a leap or two away. Eyes widened at the sight of /his/ doe, and a grin immediately formed. However much he wanted to leap over to her and apologize like a silly yearling buck, he restrained himself. He did move though. Quickly. Quicker than he normally would. "Tix," he began, his tone happy and his appearance matching, "I've been looking all over for you.. I'm so sorr--" Just as he's about to finish the first of many apologetic sentences, he notices his son.. and.. this other fawn? Was it his? It was normal! He blinked, and tilted his head to the side. "I see we've picked up a straggler, hmm?" He asked with a joke hinted, though he figured it was his own as well.
Tix inhales deeply, glad to be back in the familiar surroundings where she had spent so many months. She was glad to be back, even if she wouldn't openly admit it straight away. Her attention is not drawn to the occupants or the surroundings at first, but instead the two fawns clinging to her sides. Her first priority was to make sure the journey had not worn their little legs out. But of course, if they were Roscoe's fawns, they would be perfectly fine! That much was sure to Tix as she smiled warmly at both son and daughter. The quickening pace of the Prince's approach gave Tix enough excuse to raise her head with a startled look, although she had been quite confident that any other being present would be a herd member. Of course, seeing Roscoe as that particular one left Tix in a mixed state of emotion. Of course she could never have hated him and she desired to literally prance across to him. The other side of her wanted to shield Hotah and the female fawn from view and prevent the stag from seeing them.
Tehya looks over at the strange tall deer. Stays by her mother's side and the tries to ask who is that? But a squeak or squeal comes out instead. As she then sees her mother is talking to the deer. So she a assumes it is safe and begins to relax for now.
It was a good thing that Tix was at least talking to him, no matter how hostile the words could've been interpreted to be. His ears fell a bit, and he nodded his head with a huff of breath. "I understand that you're upset with me.. and rightfully so." He said, and flashed a genuine grin down at -both- of his children. Standing closer to Tix, he rested his chin on her forehead and nuzzled a bit, happy to see that all three of them were safe and healthy. "I've missed you." He said, and pulled away to get a better look at both of the fawns. Hotah was just as strange looking as ever.. but he was still his son. He lifted his head and grinned, then looked over to his new daugter, Tehya. "They're both beautiful, Tix." He said, and looked toward her again. "Just like their mother."
Oh of course Tix wasn't going to resist that moment of physical contact. Like any yearling doe she melted at his touch, and more than enthusiastically returned the nuzzle. He approved! And what's more, he admitted to missing them! Maybe he wasn't so heartless after all.. Of course, that would remain to be seen with the future interaction between the Prince and his two children. "I forgive you but.. You hurt me. I didn't intend on things to turn out like they did.. But please tell me that you're not only saying your fawns are beautiful because you want to keep me here?" The doe flicks her ears back, turning her attention briefly to Hotah as he nestles closer to his mother's side. "You are actually proud of them, aren't you?" He voice is given a light hint of hope, suggesting she actually did want to hear him say he was glad to be their father.
Tehya looks over at the other small deer and tries to ask a question again of who is that big there. But it still comes out as a loud squeak or squeal or something like that.
Heartless was hardly the term that he wanted others to describe him by. Aloof? Fine. Distant? Perhaps. Cold? Whatever. But heartless? That wouldn't sit well with him at all. The Prince knew that his attitude needed some improvements, but he hardly wanted to go against his observant nature. That didn't mean however, that he had to be so rude to everyone about it. When Tix returned the nuzzle enthusiastically, his eyes closed and his grin widened. Everything was perfect at the moment, unti lhe had pulled away, and she spoke up. He had hurt her. He didn't mean to, and hadn't thought his words though, but he had. She'd just told him. Nodding his head somberly, he let out a sigh. "I'm very sorry for hurting you, Tix. I didn't mean a word of it. I was just.. shocked, that's all." A scoff was given, and his brows lowered, angry with himself for a second. "It's no excuse, though.. please, forgive me?" Looking at her for a moment, his eyes fell with the movement of the fawns, and he grinned at them in an absent-minded manner.
Tix silently listens in to his apology and even though it's a serious moment, she's already smiling. "Of course I forgive you.. I was shocked too though.." Her voice trails off as she realises that going in-depth into that topic might not be a sensible move right now. She turns her head towards Tehya at the sound of the confused bleat and with a certain amount of kind reassurance, Tix gently nudges the female fawn forwards towards Roscoe. Hotah seems glad not to recieve the same treatment, but less than enthusiastic when Tix moves again, exposing the little male fawn in proper view of the Prince. "She was born shortly after your son but.. I had no idea she was going to arrive. Maybe if she chose to be born at the same time as Hotah, things would be different." The doe shakes her summer pelt and gazes fondly between the two fawns and their father.
Tehya blinks and is startked at the sudden shove toward the giant deer. She lets out a surprised bleat. As she then looks between her mother and the big deer. Then wonders what she should do. As she tries to say somethng again. But another bleat comes out. As she shivers a little bit.
She forgives him, and this is great news to Roscoe. With his ears cupping forward, his expression softens and he appears to be completely at ease for a moment; something very uncommon with the particular buck. Stepping forward again, he nuzzles against her neck once more. "I'm so sorry that I ruined what should've been a joyful memory.." he says, and sighs once more. "What is her name?" He asks quietly, his nuzzles halting and his attention on both of his fawns once again. A smile is given toward Hotah, and he takes a step forward. Lowering his head, he playfully nudges the little piebald buck's side, and then chuckles afterward. Such a funny looking thing.. and he harbors such guilt for reacting the way that he did. Looking back to Tehya, he lifts his head and blinks. "I.. think she might be a little nervous?" He said observantly, noting the way she was shivering.
Noticing how gentle the stag acts towards his children, Tix almost lets a sigh of relief be heard. It was good that he taking a genuine interest in his offspring, and especially Hotah after such a cold reaction. "I named her Tehya, if that's alright with you.." Of course the main problem with the two fawns is that Tix was given the task of naming both when in all honesty she had no idea if the Prince would approve. Noticing Tehya shaking, the doe quickly returned to the younger ones side, warmly nuzzling the small female's head. "It's alright, little one.. This is your daddy." She speaks quietly and slowly, obviously trying to project the calm soothing female to the obviously afraid Tehya.
Tehya looks up at her mother and tilts her head some and relaxes some. As she hears the word daddy. She blinks some and then look back at the big deer and tries hard this time and concentrates. Fav is all she manages to get out as she bleats the rest of the word she was trying to say.
Gentle now, but most likely he would distance himself after the apologies were given. He was still their guardian. Their protector, and their father.. but the responsibility of caring for fawns fell mostly upon the does. He would help occasionally and provide guidance for his children, but they were to be brought up the way nature intended, and that was at Tix's side, not his. Grinning at the sound of the name, Roscoe nodded his head. "Tehya.. I like that name." He said, but made no move to nuzzle his daughter. It was clear that she was nervous, and he didn't want things to worsen.
Tix nods more confidently and gives Hotah the same treatment, nuzzling the young male reassuringly to prove he hadn't been forgotten either. It was true: this moment was perfect, even if it was going to be short-lived. Tix was quite sure that once things were settled, he would go back to his reserved self. The doe often wondered if Chanson was like this with his females. If he had any. In fact, Tix decided it would be best to ask. "Did Chanson have any.. ?" She left the question hanging, hoping Roscoe would pick up on it. Guiding little Hotah around to stand with his sibling, she nodded slowly at the pair and then turned her focus back to the Prince.
Tehya looks over at the other deer that is now next to her. She looks him over and then goes back to looking at the big deer. In front of her and hears her mother is still talking to the big deer.
Perhaps it was his time with the new albino doe that had changed his opinion so, about Hotah especially. While he and the albino doe in question had only met a handful of times, most of which included warning her to leave the herd's land for fear that she would attract unwanted attention, he finally began to see through the outward appearances of those who were different. Especially his own -son.- Needless to say, the Prince was ashamed of how he'd treated young Hotah before, and knew that when the fawn reached a certain age, he would have to make sure that he taught him how to be some sort of Prince himself, like his own father had taught him. Keeping an eye on both of the fawns, most of his attention was drawn to Tix as she spoke of Chanson. He blinked, and his tail flicked as a reflex from just hearing the name. Though the two bucks had been getting along better now that it wasn't the rutting season, they still had some tension between them. "Chanson and Aspen have had twins as well. A doe and a buck, like our own. Dawn and Ridge, their names are.. I believe."
Tix nods at the response. Figures that Chanson would have found a doe before the rut had ended. Although in all honesty, Tix had been somewhat drawn to the younger buck's mysteriousness especially as their only meeting had been in the midst of the breeding season. Who had the female been as well? Tix had spent very little time with other females of the herd but with the approaching summer and the chances of them being spent together through that time, the Whitetail doe suspected she would meet Aspen again soon. "I see.. Do they have a child like.. Ours?" When Tix finally brings herself to ask, it's quite obvious she's not too keen on asking, yet her curiosity gains the better of her. Realising that throughout the journey, neither fawn had chance to feed properly, Tix stands herself in a better position for doing so and is almost assaulted by an obviously hungry Hotah.
Tehya also relizes she is very hungry too. But tries to be more dignified. As she goes over to nurse but trips on the way there. Then continues to walk over to where the food is as if she meant to do that. Then begins to suckle with her tail going so fast that it looks like a blur.
The fact that Chanson had sired a litter with Aspen did not bother Roscoe at all. In his eyes, it seemed fair. The two bucks of the herd each had two offspring with one doe each. Perfectly even. Though, this fall would be different if he chose to participate in the rut again. It was actually quite odd that just the day before, Aspen was questioning Roscoe about Tix, and now Tix was questioning him about Chanson. Raising his brows, he shook his head and let out a huff of breath, noting the time. "No.. both of their fawns are.. normal looking." He said, using the politically correct term. The buck had meant nothing by it, and offered a grin down to the little Hotah as he nursed. "Hotah is one of a kind." Nodding his head, he looked to Tehya, and then back up to Tix. It was feeding time for them, and he assumed that the mother, son, and daughter would be tired and well deserving of a rest afterward. "You should stay with them and rest here, if you'd like." He turned his hooves, and flicked his tail once again. "The fawns could all get to play with one another, also." Lifting a hoof to walk away, he stopped, and then turned around once more. Instead of walking away quietly, he offered a final nuzzle to Tix, and then began to make his way North.
