Alright, so this thread is about as easy as they come, and probably just as fun. Rules are as follows: Pick a character or pick all of them, and then come up with a soundtrack mixtape for them that can follow any format that you find creative. Then, for bonus points, come up with a brief description on why the song you chose symbolically or literally describes your character! I'm challenging you here, you have to tell me why a song relates to your character. You can't just pick it because you like it so much and then not make any relations between it and your character. Fun, right? Boo-yah!
Aesop: General theme: Find Your Way - Aloe Blacc This is a way cool song by the way cool hiphop instrumentalist Aloe Blacc. It's a horn-filled jam in a major key with some sung lyrics that chant "I have been searching for my soul for so long" and "I have been looking for a place to call home." Aesop is a spiritual guy who doesn't have a home or a family to speak of. He's a bit of a loner and craves comradary. The major key tonality of the bass/guitar with the horns clashes with the minor and even some times diminished chord qualities of the humming and chanting. It's adds some mysterious elements to it, representing his devoutness to his spirituality.
Abel Theme: With A Little Luck - Paul McCartney and Wings I was honestly having some trouble deciding between this one and "With a Little Help from my Friends" by Joe Cocker. With a Little Luck is a great little tune that begins with simple instrumentation and melody that quickly gets stuck in your head. If you know much about Paul McCartney, you'll know that the simple instrumentation doesn't last long as many instruments and synths are thrown in there for fun. As the easy-going intro passes on, the tempo increases its more playful nature, but still experiments with new melodies. This is very much like Abel; he's a cautious person to meet, but still very adamant in his beliefs and knows what he wants; represented by the unchanging melody. He's a playful wolf at heart and he knows it, just like the song. Towards the climax and ending of the song, Paul McCartney's singing becomes passionate and raspy, although still melodic, shouting his ideas of "just a little luck and we can make this whole damned thing work out." This is also true with Abel, as he is ultimately a passionate person, never losing focus of what's important.
I'll do some more characters later. Your turn, Meadows!

I really don't normally do this. In fact, my characters don't usually get theme songs/soundtracks. In fact, prior to joining Meadows MUCK, I only ever chose theme songs for two characters. One was an NPC, and the other was not my character. I just don't do theme songs.
Kein, however, has pretty much always had a theme song. And it has not always been the same. So, without further ado, here is the list, along with some explanations:
Birth to Juvenile: Everyday Superhero - Smash Mouth
Nothing really special here. The lyrics don't fit perfectly, but they are pretty close. Kein was always meant to have his moral code and to consider himself nothing special. And, also, to be made with a little bit of fail.
Juvenile to Adolescent: The Rest of My Life - Less Than Jake
This one starts like the previous one. It fits, but it's more human than animal specific. Still, the lyrics were close. They left before he got the chance he wanted to apologize, and when he tried to go back, his sister was killed. It was rough on him. This one is better with the music video, though, since the music video is all about children dealing with adult issues. Or adults behaving childishly. It's one of those.
Early Adolescence: Told You So - Barenaked Ladies
This one is unique, in that it is not only for Kein. It was for everyone who was involved in the plot at the time. Each of the lines could apply to different characters. In detail:
I never jumped in and rescued you, but I wanted to
Kein. Once he returned. Nayeli was upset that he never returned. It wasn't for a lack of trying, on his part.
I didn't tell you which way to go, 'cause I thought you'd know
Maulisho? Nayeli? I don't remember what I thought, at the time. probably some mix of the two, as they trusted other characters to know what to do.
You had a problem with your new found wealth, you brought it on yourself
Definitely Chesmu. He failed in his position of "wealth", as chieftain.
I never told you I told you so, but I told you so
Kein, who insisted upon Chesmu's evil nature long before it really presented itself.
Chorus: Have to let it go It's time to let it go Now I can't believe It took so long to leave Perhaps one day I'll grieve Or I never will
This could fit any of them, probably, but, largely, Kein.
I never told you I agreed with you, I don't think I do
Kasim. the only one of Maulisho's family who didn't believe Ches should stand down.
I wasn't sure quite what the whole thing meant, but I'm glad you went
Nayeli? She hated Kein for a good long while, and was happy he wasn't around for a bit. That may be who I thought of, originally.
I never thought that it could be painless, but it is I guess
Maulisho, at first. Then, both before and immediately after she was killed, Kein, who was surprised by the ease of Chesmu standing down, and then driven to numbness after finding his mother.
I had myself fooled into needing you, did I fool you too?
Perhaps Maul. Perhaps all of Amaranth, re: Chesmu.
( Chorus )
A viral infection that can incubate for years Caused by affection fallen deep into arrears No medication to procure Makes me pure, there's no cure, I am sure
Again, all of Amaranth, in general. The disease that tore at them.
I never mentioned how I've prayed for you, and now I've paid for you
Maulisho. Paoro. Ayashe.
I never said that I would wait for you, it's too late for you
Kein. Mostly.
( Chorus )
Late Adolescent to Adulthood: Had Enough - Breaking Benjamin
This only became so after Malak and Revan attacked, and when Cheveyo continued the trend. This is actually a bit old. He needs a new song. But that's where I more or less stopped playing him as much, so...
Not as many songs as I thought. But, still. WhaBAM.

Catori: Redneck Woman by Gretchen Wilson Catori is kind of a rough-and-tumble girl. She's a tomboy, and when she's not obsessing over some little thing, she might be a little bit too frank, and not so polite with her words. She doesn't care what others think about her, and I think the song fits her kind of well. 'I'm a redneck woman, I ain't no high class broad! I'm just a product of my raisin' [...] 'Well, you might think I'm trashy, a little too hardcore, but in my neck of the woods I'm just the girl next door.'
Dohate: Live Like You Were Dyin' by Tim McGraw Poor Dohate doesn't get much RP time, but I think he's an interesting character. He used to be a total jerk, roaming maybe a different mountain and causing all sorts of trouble. Then whatever happened, happened, and he changed over time. With his age, he realized how he'd messed up his life, and now he's trying to make ammends with it. 'I was finally the husband, that most the time I wasn't, and I became a friend a friend would like to have.' [...] ''I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter and I gave forgiveness I'd been denying/watched an eagle as it was flying.'
Lootah: Midnight Rider by The Allman Brothers Band Lootah is pretty full of himself. He was born a feral horse and hasn't ever been caught. He's had run-ins with humans who've tried to capture him in the past, and even stayed close to a ranch environment for a few months in order to get closer to a mare. But, he's never been caught. He's got a big ego and he's sure of himself, so I think this song is pretty fitting to him. I've got to run to keep from hiding' [ ... ] 'But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no, not gonna catch the Midnight Rider' [ ... ] 'And I've gone by the point of caring.'
Motega: The Way by Fastball In a way, I think this song is more suited to Cyrus and Eclipse's disappearance, but it fits Motega just fine too. He's got no idea where he's going or what he's doing; he's just going and doing whatever. Really, he just lives in the moment. He's constantly lost, and it doesn't help that he, literally, has a horrible sense of direction. 'You can see their shadows wandering off somewhere, they won't make it home but they don't really care.' [...] 'They left before the sun came up that day. They just drove off and left it all behind 'em. But where were they going without ever knowing the way?'
Nanook: No Ceiling by Eddie Vedder This song is about travelling, leaving everything behind knowing that you'll be better off than you were before. It suits Nanook well because he left his home far to the north of the grid in order to see the mountain. It was a personal goal for him since he was a young adolescent, and it's helped him to grow and mature in many ways. 'Moving on, a scene surreal, though my heart will never [..] be far from here.' That, for me, is the line that sells it. :]
Roscoe: I'm Alive by Disturbed. I think of this as more of an 'angry Roscoe' song. Like, when he gets upset about something and he has to wander off to think about it and whatnot, which (used to) happen(s) a lot. 'I carry the torch of my followers before me.' 'There will never be a reason why I will surrender to you're advice to change myself, I'd rather die, no they will not understand.' -- All about the arrogance, yo. I've still yet to find a general theme for him, but I'm lookin'.
Rowtag: Tin Man by Animal Kingdom. This one, and the other one listed, are suggestions from Wyanet, that I really like. This one is a spiffy song, and I think parts are well suited to him. Like this!: 'I got a head that tells me stupid things to do. I cannot eat, I cannot sleep, I've got a hole inside of me. Cause I'll never feel the same as you.' Also, 18 and Life by Skid Row. Again, a suggestion by Wyanet. I listen to this song to get into a Rowtag mood now. XD 'No good at home, he walked the streets a soldier, and he fought the world alone.' 'They say he loved adventure, [Rowtag!]'s a wild one! He married trouble, had a courtship with a gun.'
Sohtoh: Twilight by Vanessa Carlton I haven't had much chance to introdue the little moose just yet, but I could imagine that she might've had a bit of sadness prior to arriving on grid. She's still an adolescent, meaning that her own mother chasing her off is still fresh in her mind. Now that she's made it this far though, she's determined to put the past behind her and make the most of her life. 'And I will never see the sky the same way, and I will learn to say goodbye to yesterday, and I will never seize to fly if held down, and I will always reach too high.'

While I'm no stranger to character soundtracks (I have an entire playlist for a former vampiress character of mine, in fact, and when I was still RPing as Zira I had several songs that suited her quite well), I actually haven't put much thought into songs for most of my characters here...perhaps because I typically just listen to Native American ambient music whenever I need a RP soundtrack (which actually worked really well for Paoro). XD But with a bit of thought, I've managed to come up with a few songs that suit some of my primary characters, past and present.
Paoro - "Tomorrow Never Knows" and "Within You, Without You" by the Beatles (and of course, plenty of Native American music) Both very mystical, spiritual songs, and anyone who ever knew the First Matron and Shamaness knows that suits her quite well. Sample lyrics: "When you've seen beyond yourself, then you may find peace of mind is waiting there... And the time will come when you see we're all one, and life flows on within you and without you."
Haze - "Muzzle" by the Smashing Pumpkins Haze has always felt like an outsider, not only with his birth family, whom he left when he was an adolescent to join his mate, Larkspur, but also with her family, even when he became alpha, because he never felt a part of them. Especially now that he feels he has failed as an alpha, Haze feels a good deal of guilt for what he perceives as his mistakes in life that have affected others. Sample lyrics: "I fear that I am ordinary, just like everyone... My life has been extraordinary, blessed and cursed and won..."
Aurora - "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper Enough said. XD She's not the type who takes life very seriously. It's even in her @doing!
Heath - "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" by the Beatles Heath isn't quite all there in the head, and the song's somewhat-childlike and strange lyrics fit her youthful, but odd, nature.

A soundtrack for Maka.
As I only have one character, it's not too much work to come up with a soundtrack to go along with her. Rather than take each song separately, I'll just address the ideas I'm working with as a whole.
Maka is still young, impetuous, and curious about the world around her. She set out from her home pack not only to follow her sister, but also to see what else the world had to offer, which isn't something a lesser wolf would have tried. She stands on her own four feet, and thinks, analyzes, and tries to understand situations with her own logic. She experiments, explores, tries things, takes chances, and while she isn't particularly ambitious, she isn't a follower either.
1. Taking Chances - Lea Michele (Glee) 2. I am a Pioneer - Sharyn Scott 3. I See Right Through to You - DJ Encore 4. Dare you to Move - Switchfoot

Niabi - "Moment of Peace" by Gregorian ( link) I think this song is perfect for Niabi because it invites you to leave the dangerous world and come where you'll be safe, happy, and taken care of. If Niabi could do that for everyone she cares about, she would. But behind the light, soothing melody of the song there's a strong beat behind it, which is also like Niabi. She may be kind and gentle, but she's also extremely tough. Nukpana - "Not Ready to Make Nice" by the Dixie Chicks (Thanks to Ayett for the suggestion!) It's a song about being angry, not forgiving or forgetting, it being too late to fix things... Yeah, it's perfect for Nukpana. And I imagine it will seem even more perfect as everyone sees more of her personality come to light.
