Another old Cocle/Akseli/Johari and Tahtzin scene. This one takes place the day after the last one I posted.
Characters:
Tahtzin – Male Swift Fox
Cocle – Male Juvenile Swift Fox
Akseli – Male Juvenile Swift Fox
Johari – Female Juvenile Gray Fox
Cherry Orchard
Dad comes back home, tired... he hates hunting, if only food would just appear out of the nowhere and say EAT ME! But no, things are not that simple... He actually has to run and get tired and even sweat from time to time, but hey, he's back with food, he's a good dad. Zin comes carrying a big fat rabbit this time, it was quite annoying at first, but fat rabbit became slow and it was easy to catch. Slowly and lazily, but hey, what can you expect, heading to his sons' direction.
Cocle has been off on his own for a little over a day, trying to find things to entertain himself since Johari and Akseli have no interest in being entertained. Not that he's still sulking over that, or anything. When he actually returned to the den, his brother and adopted sister were nowhere in sight, and after a couple hours of boredom waiting for them to return, he decided to try to track them down, which is slow going for the juvenile fox, especially as he occasionally gets distracted by different smells.
In all reality, the wind had blown throughout the night and into the late afternoon and now, taking cherry blossoms from their trees and to the ground, covering all those who slumber. Akseli was taking a nap and awoke under this condition, sneezing from the pollen. Standing up, flowers falling, he sneezes once more falling back this time and then laughs. Looking around afterwards Aks shakes off; time to head back he guesses, best go find Johari and tell her.
Great, his sons are not where he was expecting... As in, not sitting like good kids near the tree he was walking to and just waiting for dad to come back with food for them. Instead, once he reaches the said tree, he finds out that the scents of his sons are in different directions... The fox sighs, letting the rabbit on the ground and looking to each side, one... Two? Three?
Nothing, where the H are them? The fox howls as loud as he can, not really something 'decent' from the howl. But that will at least make them come to him.
Johari hasn't moved from her spot since yesterday. She's as well covered with the flower petals but, unlike Akseli, she doesn't wake up to a sneezing fit. In fact, it was his sneezing that woke her. They seem to be doing that a lot lately. Slowly opening her eyes, she soon gets to her paws and giggles at all the flower petals on her, soon shaking them all off with her new flower present still tucked safely between her ear. Looking around for Akseli, she laughs again to find him on his back for some reason. "Hey there, why you on your back?" she asks with a giggle behind her voice.
Cocle hears his dad's 'howl' easily. It causes him to stand up and look back towards the den, then uncertainly towards the direction where he'd been tracking Akseli and Johari's scents. They're far off enough that he can't hear Johari's voice, and after a moment, he turns to run back towards his dad's voice. Dad! Of course, he can see Aks and Joha anytime, but dad is gone a lot more than they are. It isn't long before he comes within sight of his father.
Akseli's intentions weren't to wake anyone up, in fact he couldn't help it; but the laughter that came from him was all intentional. Looking up to Johari, who saved him the time of having to find her, he smiles open mouthed rolling to a side. "I fell." Course that’s a lie, but who really cares. Turning his ears back to the warped howl, Aks looks up. "That sounded like dad." he recalls in excitement. "Come on. Beat you there." Standing up, he trots off, stopping till Johari comes along.
By the time the pups are actually able to catch up with their father, Zin is resting on his side, licking the sides of his muzzle all the time, he loves the taste... And surely that's the best he'll get from the rabbit this day. Seems that the new fox will stay with them for more time, so now there's a new muzzle to feed, not that he minds, but he's eating less lately. Waiting and waiting for his pups.
Johari's ears perk up at the howl and she turns her head in the general direction that it came from. She has no idea what Tahtzin's howling sound like, she just knows that she likes how he talks all funny. She looks back at Akseli when he proposes a race... and is suddenly up and running. "Hey wait up!" she yells, quickly running after him while trying to keep her flower from falling at the same time. Grr multitasking is hard!
Cocle doesn't slow down much, intending to spring onto his father once he's close enough. He doesn't know his brother isn't far behind him, but at least his dad is here to play now, and the pounce is accompanied by playful growling. Playing with sticks and rocks and bugs and even the occasionally mouse just can't compete with wrestling with his father or sibling, who can actually play back.
Wait up.. that was certainly on his mind, but that may just be a ploy to gain the advantage and take the lead; however, being the fox he is, he does slow down. "Come on. Cocle's going to take him all if we don't hurry." He tells her, continuing forward. Not that it matters cause there'll always be enough of their father to go around. When close enough to pick out his brother and father, even the dead rabbit, Akseli picks up the pace; got to hurry or he'll miss out.
Boring days with boring stuff and well, you get the idea. Zin keeps on cleaning his muzzle, licking the sides and just having some time alone, when all of a sudden, "YIKES!" The father yells once his son attacks him from behind, almost making him sprint from his spot, but instead, he does his best to turn around, "Hey!" Trying to nip at his son's forehead or whatever is close.
She doesn't want to miss out on all the fun either. Johari hasn't seen Zin in a while, nor has she played with Cocle in a while either. Lucky her, she can do both at the same time now! Nodding at Akseli, the foxgirl picks up her pace of running and soon spots the older and younger fox already having fun without them. Hey wait for us! Quickening her pace even more, she turns over to Akseli, grinning. "I'm gunna beat you!"
Cocle doesn't pay attention to Akseli or Johari as they approach, since he hasn't seen them and there are much more pressing matters. He laughs as his father nips back, and he bats at the much older fox. "You better surrender!" He continues to growl, but it's far from threatening as he has to try to stop laughing just so that he can growl at his father. Of course, his preoccupation makes him a prime target for attack from the other young foxes.
What.. no way, he can't have that happen. She may be older than him, and even somewhat larger, but he's got the concept of not wanting to lose to a girl to keep in mind. "No you’re not!" Throwing in everything he has, Akseli races forward preparing the leap forward at whomever he happens to reach first, but after he jumps over the meal he'll enjoy later.
Surrender is not a word that's in Zin's dictionary, really... He has no idea what it means, sort of, "Nevah!" But he tries. The father starts laughing, rolling to rest on his back and trying to push his son, not actually making the pup get away from him, just giving Cocle something to fight for.
Wow he's fast. While Johari might be older, keeping up endurance has never been a strong point for her so she eventually winds up slowing down and losing the race. As disappointing as that is, there's a consolation prize for it. Cocle has left himself wide open... target acquired. Grinning widely and maybe even a bit mischiefly, Johari bolts straight for Cocle and, once she's close enough, uses all her momentum to leap up and pounce at the younger fox. He wanted play before, well he's getting it now.
Of course, had Cocle's father given in that easily, it definitely would have been No Fun. His father's pushing deter him slightly, but he responds by nipping at his father's paws, right up until Johari leaps at him, pushing him off of Tahtzin and causing him to roll several feet. What was that?! It takes him several moments to get his feet back under him, having no idea in his confusion that Johari and Akseli have joined the battle.
Just moments after the collision of Cocle and Johari, Akseli makes his presences known with a leap at his father; no use going after his brother when he's been taken care of already. If he's lucky he'll land right in the middle of him and begins working through his fur to unleash that evil tickling of his.
It's kinda funny when something suddenly disappears from sight. Cocle was there a second ago, but soon he's replaced with another fox but just for another second. About to turn to see what happened to his son and the girl fox, he's attacked without mercy by the ticklish fastest pup there is. Now, he didn't expect that. The fox squirms a bit, pawing at his other son and nibbling at his sides.
Ha, ambush successful! Oh but she isn't done quite yet. The instant Cocle tries to get to his paws again, Johari soon leaps over at him, this time trying to knock him on his back and so that she's on top of him. Wow, when was the last time she had this much fun with them? Probably... never!
Cocle has no hope, having been taken off guard like he was. When Johari pounces him again, though, he realizes what is happening, which lessens his confusion some. Pinned at he is, he can do little besides nip at the foxgirl who has, temporarily, gotten the better of him.
She may call it an ambush, but Akseli'll call it a tickle fest. However, it doesn't last long before he's pawed and nibbled at by his father. He laughs, stopping long enough to hop around and try to avoid the retaliating fox; he falls over and hits the ground. "Ow." Aks lets out, rolling over moments later, peering over Tahtzin to see who is winning between Joha and Cocle.
The father keeps his eyes on the pup, tilting his head to a side once Akse falls to a side. Well, this is different, most of the times the pups never get tired of playing, "Dat means I'win?" Just curious. The fox leans closer to his son, licking his dirty. . . And odd tasting face, is that a flower he's tasting? Surely makes him frown but he doesn't ask.
Well from anyone's easy perspective, Johari is clearly the one on top right now. Literally. Smiling widely, she says loudly to Cocle, and anyone else in the area for that matter, "Ha gottcha!" But her victory is short lived when Cocle suddenly starts nipping up at her chestfur. Giggling and growling playfully, she leans her head in and starts to chew at one of his ears. All for the fun of course. Surprisingly, her flower has remained where it should be, right between her right ear, even through all the running and pouncing. She doesn't know it, but Cocle should have a nice view of it stuck right in his face since she's now taken one of his ears captive.
Cocle's ear is taken hostage! He growls lightly and bats at Johari's head as he attempts to pull his head away without letting her tear his poor ear to shreds. Attacking ears is much more fun when it is Cocle latched onto someone else's ear, and not someone else latched onto his ear, because it's hard to free himself. He has no idea what the flower is doing in her ear, but if he can knock it lose, maybe it'll distract her some.
Akseli wasn't giving up, he was taking a breather... he did just run a great distance to get here you know. Seeing Johari as the one on top, he smiles, going back to his father who has gone and licked his face. It was a flower he was tasting, cherry blossoms to the exact, and he isn't ashamed of tasting like one either. Giving an ewwed face to the lick, Aks pushes his father away. Going to give return action to Taht's licking attack, Aks, looking back to the others real quick and what does he see... "Hey, don't touch that!" He calls out to his brother. He gave that flower to her, and no one’s allowed to touch it.
Hm? What's wrong with this pups, they're dirty all the time, and they hate being clean, pfft... If Nan was there, she'd be giving Zin a hard time because of dirty pups. Zin backs away from Aks, fine, no grooming... You'll come begging one day! "Do what?" Apparently he has no idea it's all about the flower.
Johari doesn’t mind a lot of things, especially when it comes to her two best friends. But when Cocle starts batting up at her flower, /that's/ something she does mind. Letting out a loud yelp of surprise right into his ear, Johari quickly backs off and away from Cocle, trying to look up and see if her flower is ok. "Don't touch that!" she says sternly, her voice almost yelling. That was something special given to her and /only/ she and Akseli are allowed to touch it, no one else.
Cocle is surprised at the reaction from his brother and Johari when they begin yelling about the flower. It does get Johari off of him, at least, and this time he is much quicker to get to his feet. After that, he looks between Johari and Akseli, clearly confused. It's just some flower, and for all he knew, it fell onto Johari's head. Whatever the case, the yelping in his ear and the stern voice Johari uses seem to have put a damper on playtime easily enough.
If mamma was here, he probably would of listened, or been pinned to the ground and made to suffers; however, she's not. As for coming back and begging to be cleaned, it wouldn't be from his father if he did... Jumping up onto Taht so he's at a better advantage point, Akseli looks over to Johari who practically says the same as he. Having done so, the connection between the flower and the two was surely to be noticed. Jumping down, and walking over, he makes the quickest check ever over the gift given, then turns to Cocle. How would he like it, if Aks started messing with something he gave away...
What's with the flower? Zin now notices the flower on Joha's ear, making him blink for a secon or two. M'k? He surely missed something, and well, on one side, there's the girl yelling, on the other there0s his son. Once Akse is not on top of him, the fox stands up and paces to the others, "Ok ok..." How to make things look better without yelling at one of them, "Cocle, enough with the flower." But his eyes remains fixed on the girl who just yelled at his son, "Everyth'n ok?"
The very instant when she yells at Cocle, she realizes what she did and feels deeply sorry. She didn't mean to yell, just got caught up in the moment. When Akseli comes around to her, she turns her head around to give him a good inspection of it. "Is it ok?" she asks. She has to know that first before she apologizes to Cocle. In fact she's about to do just that before Tahtzin cuts across her. "Yeah it's ok," she says before turning to Cocle. "Akseli gave me this flower and it's really special to me. I'm sorry Cocle, I didn't mean to yell at you." And to prove her point, she walks over and gives him a small, friendly lick across the nose. He's still her good friend and she just got a little out of control. Hopefully he can forgive her.
First Johari and Akseli were yelling at him, and now even after he has stopped playing with Johari, his father is still telling him to stop? Something about this seems profoundly unfair to Cocle, and he matches his brother's gaze. It is finally drawn to Johari as she tries to explain. He really doesn't have it in him to remain upset, and slowly he nods. "It's okay." Then he turns to walk back to his father, his mood more subdued now. He's not going to go off and pounce any of the three right away, at any rate. The last two times he tried to play with Johari and Akseli they didn't want to participate anyway.
Yea.. so, he gave her a flower, it doesn't mean anything as far as he's aware of; it was a gift as Johari had said. Looking back to her, Akseli gives a firm nod for the flower was alright, and didn't seem to be damaged. Taking a seat, he looks at Cocle with a dropped ear. He had shouted at his brother too, but no one took the time to mention it; was it different when he did it; this causes him to shrug. Watching his brother walk away, Aks blinks and actually feels sorry for him. Frowning a bit, he looks around the area and stops on the rabbit dad had brought earlier. Standing, he walks over to it; nothing like food to drown your sorrows.
Oh great, this is perfect... Zin sighs as everything seems to go down to hell. The fox looks from son to son, but decides to pace behind Cocle as Akse seems to find more interest in food than family, "Hey..." The father calls out softly, right beside Cocle. Zin leans his head to the side, nuzzling his son, "Ye did'n kno... It's just a flowah. Dun worry."
Ok, now she feels really bad about yelling. Even if it was a special present given to her, even that can't replace the good friendship she and the two brothers have. So even though Cocle says it's fine, Johari still feels pretty bad about what she did. She'll have to make it up to him one day. But for now, Akseli has the right idea when he wants food so the foxgirl follows him to the dead animal to take a few bites. But before she takes a bit, she looks over at Cocle and gives him a smile, "C'mon Cocle, I bet your hungry too." She's certainly worked up and appetite from all that playing.
Cocle returns his father's nuzzle. He doesn't care about the flower; there are plenty of flowers around. If he's not supposed to touch that one, he really doesn't care. It's just how something always seems to get in the way of him playing with his brother and Johari and father. Sure, maybe he was lying about the creature that was supposed to attack them, but it still could have been fun, but they wanted no part of it. Cocle looks back to Johari when she says he should eat, and though all of a sudden eating isn't appealing, his mood does seem to improve slightly as he looks back to his father. "Hey Dad, I caught a rat the other day." Give him a moment to get over it, to boast of his awesome abilities, and he'll have forgotten all about being yelled at. Nevermind that the rat was really just a tiny mouse, and that it managed to get away.
It's not like he was actually going to eat it by himself, he's not that selfish. Walking over to it and plopping down, Akseli gives the rabbit a few sniffs before looking over to those he left behind. Who was he kidding, sitting there and not offering first dibs to someone else. Laying his head down on the dead body, he sighs... all this over a flower. Looking up when Johari approaches, he lifts his head; not a word is said to her as she offers instead of him. Slowly looking over to Cocle once more; he's more than welcome to come over and have some, but it was up to him. Seeing him not come over, Aks frowns. Hearing Cocle speak of the rat he got those days ago, he cracks a slight smile, but it was him that said to let it go... Akseli always seems to be at blame.
No one's to blame, it's just a stupid flower for crying out loud... Zin sighs again, looking around... What to do, how to fix things? He has NO idea, oh well. The fox nudges Cocle's shoulder and tilts his head to the rabbit and Co.'s direction, "Go on, ye must'b hungreh..." Everyone is, right? Food fixes things easily, that should work. The fox waits for his son to head to the rabbit, "How big was the rat?" Just curious, maybe Cocle should do the hunting from now on.
It may seem like a stupid flower to everyone else, but to Johari it means something more. It really means a lot to her that one of her best friends gave it to her as a gift and if you told her it was just a stupid flower, she'd get really angry at you. It's really special to her and she'll most likely keep it between her ear till it starts to get frail and wilt. But until that day, it will never leave her sight. Smiling at Akseli when he lifts his head when she walks closer, she nods her head down to the food, silently telling him to eat up while he can before she takes a look back at Cocle to see if he's coming. It's not really a good meal if everyone's not there.
Everyone thinks Cocle should be eating, which would definitely delay his telling of how he captured the mouse. "It was huge. The biggest thing I ever caught." That may be slightly exaggerated. To keep his father and Johari appeased, and keep them from insisting he eats, he does begin to make his way back to the rabbit, though what he wants more than food is praise for his hunting abilities, which did not really come from Akseli or Johari. He hold no lasting resentment over being yelled at, though, and saying Akseli made him lose the 'rat' is about the furthest thing from his mind, as he focuses on his achievement.
Akseli just listens to the conversation, not really saying anything. The rat was huge compared to everything else that was every caught; he shouldn't have to praise for that, it was obvious. Looking to the rabbit, it was going to waste just sitting there as one insisted the other eat some of it... well you know what, he's going to right now. Ripping into it, Aks takes a few bites and tries to enjoy it.
Once everyone is happy, or at least that's what it seems, Zin returns and lays down with the group, looking from pup to pup to the other pup... Come on, the female HAS to be his daughter or something, "Did you share the rat with the others?" Sharing is VERY important.
Johari remembers that day when Cocle caught the rat, and if she remembers it right, then didn't it get away from him? Or, wait, wasn't that Akseli's idea? Ahh who knows, it's Cocle's thing to brag about not hers. She smiles when he starts to make his way over, and is about to give him some small praise when Akseli's ripping and chewing noise cuts her short. Looking down at the rabbit, then back up at Cocle, she smiles at him once again, before plopping down next to Akseli to take a bite out of the rabbit. As for being Zin's daughter... hasn't Johari told him about ten times that he's not related to them at all. She just likes hanging out here is all, even though she's starting to get a little homesick.
Share? Well, no, but that's because it got away long before he could kill it, and besides, it was /so/ small. Cocle's not sure there would have been enough to share. Nevertheless, he answers, "Yeah, I shared." They all shared in the entertainment the small creature provided. Finally, he lies beside the rabbit to take a small bite from it.
Akseli continues to eat as he listened and looked up every now and then to those around him as they too took some bites of the rabbit.
Tahtzin nods slowly to his son. That's good, sharing is good, besides if the so called HUGE rat was actually prey, then that means Cocle surely was full in the middle of his meal, who knows... The fox rests his head on the ground, looking how the pups eat, or if they're eating.
Johari smiles with a mouthfull of food over at Cocle as he joins them, happy her two closest friends are with her. But once she's finally had her fill of the rabbit, she simply remains laying down and leans slightly on Akseli next to her, feeling very happy and content.
Cocle eats quickly enough. Truth is, none of them got to eat anything from the 'rat', so they're probably all equally hungry, but Cocle still doesn't eat very much. Just enough to appease what little hunger he feels, after which he backs off from the large rabbit.
Akseli seems to eat the most, stopping when everyone else seems to have done so, even though he could eat more. Looking up, he swallow what’s left in his mouth. Being leaned on, he looks to Johari and smile to her slightly, giving a light nosing to the backside of one of her shoulders. Glancing over to the flower, he nudges it slightly, then smirks, looking over to Cocle for a moment, says nothing, then lays his head down along Joha's back, her bring the closest to him.
Johari can only smile as Akseli noses her back and up at the flower. The flower he gave to her and will cherish forever. She gives him a small lick before he rests his head on her back, which she smiles broadly too. Leaning her head back as much as she can, she whispers into his hear, "You gunna tell you dad about what you said about taking me home?" She doesn't want to leave here, not after having so much fun with her friends here... but she misses Hali and Lyk and all of her family. And who knows, maybe they can all come back with her and live near her. That would be so great.
Akseli eyes lids droop some as he listens to the things around him. It’s the sound of Johari's voice that opens them fully. Turning his eyes to him, he perks an ear to the question. He had planned on it one day, but he's not sure how he wants to go about it, or even if he should. Just shaking his head, he says nothing, just yet.
Whatever the pups whispered to each other, Zin has no idea... he didn't even see them, his gaze remains fixed on... Hey! That pebble wasn't there the other day, cool!
Well, maybe right now isn't just a good time then. They'll get to it sooner or later, she knows they will. But for now, sleep didn't seem like a bad idea. Smiling back at him again, Johari looks back over at Cocle and gives him a friendly smile before putting her head in between her forepaws before slowly letting sleep come over her, a small smile visible on her maw.
Cocle returns Johari's light smile. As Akseli and Johari seem to be about to fall asleep by one another, Cocle walks over to his father to nuzzle the older fox slightly. He is glad his father is back from the most recent hunting trip. Now if only their mother would return from where ever she got off to, everyone would be here.
Akseli has gone back to the half awake appeal he had before as Johari slips off to what appears to sleep. Listening to her breath, he mildly keeps an eye out on those around him, though it seems effortless when his eyes seem to fall shut.

He continues to growl, but it's far from threatening as he has to try to stop laughing just so that he can growl at his father.
