Blackberry - Male Fox.
Helaku - Male Wolf.
----
Blackberry
Blackberry walks sullenly down the path. At the moment he is very upset. He was not physically hurt by the altercation but he does feel like something of a failure for letting it get to that point. And then of course there is the matter with what he is going to have to do to prove a point. He can't simply let the situation go. She will have to be punished for her afront to his dignity. It is a terrible thing to become the enemy of this fox. He snorts to himself, yes indeed she will have to be punished.
Helaku
The wind dismally whistled through the rush and cat tails, pushing them like curtains across the Moor. The scent of another wolf lingered here and he was close, the very strange mete with the other day: Helaku. Out of the shifting plants he emerged, living spectre on this land with his white eyes seeking whatever they could find, ears upright and the sash about his neck subtly aloft in the wind. The more proper lighting of the day unveiled his coloration, but it didn't change much as to the nature of this wolf. So far, he hadn't noticed Blackberry down the path, or perhaps he did. Or maybe he didn't even care at all if someone else was there.
Blackberry
Blackberry could also care less if someone was here or not. He isn't in the mood to have a chat anyway. As he continues to walk he does smell something vaguely familar that he quickly recognizes as the scent of the wolf that he met a day or so ago. Perhaps all is not quite lost for the day. Still he is rather upset and at the very least attempting to show it, though sometimes it can be in your best interest to show your emotions. He stops and looks at the other wolf, "Hello." he says with a snort, "I have had further interaction with your vaunted Ute pack. Would you like more information."
Helaku
Helaku clowly turned his sharp face to Blackberry, his white eyes intensively focused on the fox. So, he revealed himself. And did he truthfully go to the Ute woth words direful and dangerous? Animals in this place tended to mind business where they shouldn't mind business though the fox was the only source of information he had at the current time. Of course, he could use the trees--the birds--and local small life but that might betray him. Seeking attention was an old habit Helaku abandoned unless he required its use. "Is it what I hear an offer for information without exchange?" he asked.
Blackberry
Blackberry is still very upset about the situation and far to angry to control himself completely, "I don't care what you do with it. I want nothing in exchange for it." he says with a snort. "You were right about them being weak. I had made no signs of physical aggresion and was rudely attacked by some female...." He fixes the wolf with a glare, "I don't like being shown up."
Helaku
That was often the trouble with foxes. Their cunning deserved respect but whenever it didn't work, it simply did not. Did he, this fox, admit to wishing a grant of free information on the basis of emotional upset? Often, that was the worst sort of information to be had and yet it also played the part of most effective when one wished for a desired outcome. Helaku didn't move from his spot on the path and only continued his staremongering. "It is commonplace among wolves that females hold more...presence...than males," he said. Yes, yes. Attacks. If what the fox said was true, then the pack swayed from Ute precept. There was no warmth in wanton violence. Yet, if this fox did something to provoke them, then perhaps the spirit of his father's harshness lingered in the younger generations...somehow. "Yet you live to speak."
Blackberry
Blackberry is not in the business of being stupid. If he is appearing angry or out of whack it is because he wishes to be seen that way. Still in this particular instance how he actually feels and how he is being percieved are one and the same, "I think she will have to be punished." he says to the wolf. In this respect he is deadly serious, "I live to speak because at her heart she is weak. If I wished it I could have harmed her, but at the same time I am not one to kill or harm without purpose. Besides a pup was present and even I have my limits."
Helaku
He thought. And of punishments, where was it said that he, Helaku, had any power to enforce them when he was not of the Ute except in blood and name? The young Alphas who lead the pack now were likely not to listen to one such as himself, even if he did have ties, if the fox said anything of their last encounter that granted a negativity. Still, Helaku's ears remained pinned forward, his eyes unblinking. "If the spirits will it, then a mulct shall be had for her," he answered. "What be the entitlement of this aforementioned, weak-hearted wolf?"
Blackberry
Blackberry is a bit confused by what this wolf says. He doesn't believe in spirits or any such thing, "I think I will be the one doing the punishing...thank you." He smiles a bit, one of those scary smiles that make one a bit uncomfortable. He sits down and continues in a more calm manner, "To my knowldege she has no title. She was the one who was inspired to action while the beta sat weakly by...you were right the pack is weak. As for you I would be cautious...this same wolf who has it out for me has it out for you I think as well. I heard your named mentioned."
Helaku
Ah, so he wished to punish the young wolf himself. Good. It had nothing to do with him, what happenings the fox got himself into. Helaku did not sit. Nor did he move at all. The only thing he was interested in was commanding a presence as a predator speaking to loose informant of prey. Though, were they prey? No. Not exactly. "Entitlement, refering to name," said Helaku, completely unconcerned that the wolf would have it 'out' for him. "And if my name was mentioned then either you or her gave it unto them. This begs the question of who truthfully is in company of...issues...concerning me."
Blackberry
Blackberry is not the least concerned how this wolf wants to come off. He secure in his own sense of presence, "You gave her your name yourself. She was the wolf that you and I met in the marsh the other evening. That little twit." he said with a snort.
Helaku
Still, true. He might have given her the name but it was her decision in the end to give the name unto the pack, or this fox did it for her. Whichever, they both served a purpose and if any issues came his way he'd deal with them soon enough. "That would be Wachiwa," said Helaku, his tail giving a subtle motion. "The daughter of Ixkin and Bodhi--her actions described by you are unbefitting one of that dual blood."
Blackberry
Blackberry nods shortly to the wolf, "That was indeed her name. I have no knowledge of these other wolves that you mention but I would agree her actions were unbefitting conduct. I admit that I can be irritating at times. But I made no aggressive physical gestures toward them at all."
Helaku
Insistant, this fox. Was he to stand here all day until reaching a compromise to do something about the brood of Ixkin and Bodhi? The relationship between himself and Wachiwa could be explained in simple terms, but things were rarely as simple as words carried. Both Ixkin and Bodhi were wolves he held in high regard. Ixkin, for her ties to Alpha Helaku, and Bodhi for his kindness that he himself was given. He would not betray that respect for tripe desires of revenge. "And how will you visit upon Wachiwa your punishment?"
Blackberry
Blackberry shrugs his shoulders and flicks his tail, "I haven't decided yet...." he said, "...but rest assured she will apologize to me or suffer the consequences." He has punshished others in the past and certainly he can be a terror when he upset, but he doesn't wish to be rash, "Why does it matter to you what I choose to do? You have very little stake in the matter."
Helaku
What a loose tongue this fox had, even if it was intentional. How he answered the question would determine a lot of things that would transpire soon. Very soon. He gave the smallest, most powerful answer. "Why does it matter, indeed."
Blackberry
Blackberry has indeed had a very loose tongue, and indeed it was intentional. He believes that this wolf can be of use to him in the future and if this conversation inspires him to action then perhaps that will be a good thing. At any rate the other wolves will have to deal with him and they seem rather terrified of him at present. It will go a long way to creating a fair amount of chaos. And he likes chaos. "I know you have something planned for them. And I will be willing to asist you. So far as it fits what I want. A partnership is what I propose, but of equals...none of this wolf superiority stuff."
Helaku
Did Helaku need an assistant? No. Assistants made complications and complications made conundrums. And conundrums made for difficult life. "A most sincere and curious offer," said Helaku, his eyes still unmoving as they ever were. "Something have I planned for them perhaps, perhaps not. You might be misinterpretting everything as a whole." And finally, Helaku moved. His approach was one dictated by precision and air though not threatening. He walked as an alpha, though one that did not raise tail. He walked as a presence, a creature whose eyes bore down upon the fox like the lamps on the front of those human contraptions that slipped across the land on rails. "Wachiwa is a lineage in the same manner as I, her mother Ancient Ute and my father likewise. Are you proposing I engage this proposition to harm my own?"
Blackberry
Blackberry stays unmoving. Keeping his eyes fixed on this wolf. He is not afraid of him, "Who said anything about harming? I only want an apology. You act as if I'm planning on killing her. If I wanted her dead I would need no assitance from you, and I certainly wouldn't have told you. I would have simply done it. You take me for a fool but I am not. You have this smug know it all attitude but really when it comes to this situation you can drop the act. I'm sufficently impressed with you or I wouldn't be speaking to you now."
Helaku
"When one speaks of punishment, normally harm is that punishment..." said Helaku. "...especially when it is one not of a pack speaking it." Of course, that wasn't exactly an Ute premise, but one of his own based on experiences with humans. It also applied to wolves, particularly the more strict and closed packs, not ones build on bond and warmth like Ute. "This is no act, I assure you. Though I will not jump immediately before knowing both sides of your issue."
Blackberry
"I can assure you I have no interest in causing anyones death. I have seen far to much of it..." says the fox. "I don't expect you to do anything. I gave you this information because you may wish to know it, and that is all. I don't appreciate your veiled threats. You may either work with me or not...I don't care. If you wish to harm me you have the power to do so. I seriously doubt I could stop you, but if you choose not to do this then you may back off."
Helaku
"They say one has a mind weary when they see threats where there are none," replied Helaku. He made a sidestep to pass the fox, his eyes finally breaking contact as he started on his way. He said nothing more as he had no more to add to the conversation. If he wished to harm the fox, then he would have done so all ready.
Blackberry
Blackberry is willing to grant to the wolf that he has a weary mind. His day has been filled with a great deal of activity and he does find himself tired, "Keep in mind my offer. We may be mutually useful to each other." he says as he begins to move in the opposite direction, "Good night one who calls himself Helaku..." He always feels the need to have the last word, and he wishes the wolf to know he doesn't completely buy his story.
