-- Rippling Stream --
Back in Lazuli, he had stayed on his own for a few days after hearing the news and he had been given time by the other of his pack. Unfortunately, the time was not used to get over it, but rather to plunge deeper into anger and he eventually felt the need to do something about this /now/. Storm had said something would be done, but it could just be talk, what could she have said in that situation? He had to make sure they didn't just get away with it and so he finds himself in pursuit of these strange wolves, but so far he hasn't found out much as to where they might be.
Trespassing once again on the feral dog-pets' lands with nary a care about it, Lilith's head is bent to lap at the surface of the stream before she attempts an exploration of the nearby areas they have yet to enter. She has a feeling there's a wolf pack nearby, given all the clues and scents of her kin, but she isn't about to just barge in and not expect to be wiped out immediately. No, this takes strategy and planning and even a little bit of spying, if possible. Her silver eyes are half-lidded, downcast towards the water and not scanning the area around her, as might be expected of the alpha.
Parading herself along the edge of the stream, showing off to her imagined audiance of fish, Rayen doesn't seem to take much notice of much else. Lilith is smoothly avoided, and it is uncertain when she plans to stop. That decision makes itself. Rayen's paws freeze, and her nose shifts. "We have company." She remarks casually.
Muttering a few words of protection under her breath, Silvermane's eyes /do/ scan the area - subtly, of course - noting the things she can see, being aware that there are things she cannot. Her head is held down to make the passage of words less painful, and it makes little sense to raise it when Persia-- er, the wolves come to a stream, and she laps quietly until the fool stranger makes it known that she /isn't/ insane. How odd. "Lilith?" The wolf grunts, jerking her head towards Rayen. Her tone is obvious: the wolf's off her rocker, do we bother or not? Silvermane, of course, has /every/ screw /totally/ tight.
SilentPaws manages to catch the sight of the three wolves at the river around the same time one of them takes note of his presence. He frowns and changes direction slightly, walking straight towards them. They could very likely be a part of this strange new pack or it could be the odd three rogues that had teamed up. The first seemed more likely and he wondered if he had perhaps found who he was looking for. He doesn't bother hiding that he is indeed a very angry yonng wolf at this point.
Her eyes slip from the water to Silvermane as her name is uttered, Lilith's traveling gaze is interrupted by the presence of a fourth, unfamiliar wolf. Her head slowly raising from the surface of the river - not sudden and surprised - the alpha sizes the other wolf up before issuing an interrogation. "Who are you and what the hell do you want, wolf?"
Rayen glides lightly over the grass, leaving her devoted fans. She steps in a wide berth around behind the young wolf, barricading a direct escape route with her body. Her eyes dart to Lilith. Can she get the first bite, please?
More company! Oh, lo, we've so /many/ to deal with. Silvermane's brown-green glare settles on the young slip who's decided to join them, and her lips pull themselves into a twisted sneer. Hmph.
SilentPaws doesn't say anything for a while, simply watching the group with a frown. "Well, you sure could fit the description. Are you these strange new wolves I've been hearing about? The wolves who recently attacked a wolf around, hmm...my age?"
"Perhaps. What's it to you?" Lilith retorts with a question of her own, her tail swishing once behind her before falling completely still again.
Rayen chuckles softly, believing that some sort of joke. But her eyes are locked on the young wolf, prepared to react to any of the slightest movements.
Do-gooders leave a bad taste in Silvermane's throat, really. She doesn't say a word; she just keeps that icy glare on SilentPaws. Rayen doesn't seem like all that much of a threat, but she makes sure not to ignore her, either. Paranoid love for everyone!
"It means..." he pauses, looking off and up at the sun for a moment. He was fairly sure these were the ones he was looking for, although he's not quite sure who exactly got their claws in Rook. Maybe it was all of them, seemed likely enough and the wolf here in front of him was apparently the one in charge of the three. "...everything to me!" he announces before he then launches himself forward, attempting to get ahold of Lilith's throat with his muzzle. He didn't hope to win this, but if he could get one of them down by catching them offguard, he's be satisfied.
The trailing off of the wolf's reply indeed manages to bring Lilith's guard down, but his battle cry provides her with a half-second warning, enough time to jerk back and prevent a quick bite to her neck. Snarling, the peppered alpha retaliates with a quick sequence of snaps at the attacking wolf, trying to bite his muzzle or just his sensitive nose.
"Fool!" A bellowing snarl rips from Silvermane's throat almost reflexively as her sharp eyes catch SilentPaws launch forward, her own legs snapping into action a moment later to bring herself to the adolescent's side. Although she snaps viciously at the wolf, she doesn't seem to care nearly as much /what/ part she hits, so long as she draws blood. Silly beserkers.
Tamanous is feeling somewhat irritated. He's chased -three- foxes and not caught -one-. Tricksy little things. He's hungry, and rather regrets that he didn't eat that little wolf earlier, when he had the chance. So when he hears the sounds of fighting-- and familiar voices, although the words are short enough that he's not quite sure-- he brightens. The wolf's slow walk has turned into a trot by the time he enters the scene, although here he pauses, not quite sure what's going on except someone's getting attacked.
The chuckling increases as SilentPaws makes his move. Rayen bounces forth, aiming a nip to catch hold of the young wolf's tail while her own sweeps and swishes excitedly. This is her favorite part.
Sadly, the only real advantage he brought with him was the willingness to commit a desperate act in the hope that he would make them pay for what they did to his friend, Rook. "Damn it, I missed!" he snorts as he threw the surprise away with his battlecry. He soons finds himself overwhelmed by the wolves. He hadn't received any training in combat and had only been in a fight very few times, it wasn't his area and along with being outnumbered, SilentPaws gets heavily injured rather fast and after a few whimpers from him, he soon ends up lying on the ground, breathing his last. He didn't have much of a chance to begin with, but he had hoped to accomplish more than just surprising them. His eyes narrow in defiance for a while, but he can't do much and ends up slipping away with a weak sneer.
As she and her pack back the Lazuli wolf to the damp ground, Lilith pauses to lick her stained muzzle, staring down at the fallen male with a sadistic smirk. "Looks like you'll be seeing your friend again sooner than expected, wolf." In her signature move, the alphaess leans down to rip out the wolf's throat, ensuring their prey isn't merely playing dead. Stepping away from the corpse, Lilith glances at the other wolves, newly-arrived Tamanous in particular, and grins. "Dinner's on me tonight, friends."
When SilentPaws falls, the wolf spits out the flesh she'd ripped from his flank, as if it were poison. "Suffer," Silvermane croaks under her breath, before turning her head to Lilith and giving a wolfish, open-mouthed grin. "A job well done," she notes, flicking her ears forward.
And just in time to miss half the good stuff. He pads over, grinning and apologetic. "Had a good time? These guys are -nosy-. There was one of the little ones wandering around today." Eyes the corpse, lowering his head to nose at it and lick, briefly, at its throat. Doesn't move to open it up -just- yet, though.
Rayen stares at the corpse. That was easy, just as the last one. Was this indicative of all the wolves here? Looking away from the main carcass, Rayen's eyes find the piece Silvermane has spit out. Her eyes gleam thoughtfully, before rather suddenly she dives down to snatch it away and prance off, tail a'flagging .
"Nothing too exciting. Didn't put up much of a fight," Lilith answers Tamanous, turning towards the barn. She's quick to fight, but even quicker to flee the scene of the crime afterwards - no use getting caught red-muzzled before they've done their share of information-gathering, after all. "We'll be dealing with them soon, captain, I assure you. But we mustn't be too hasty." She begins to pad towards the north. "When you all are finished here, we'll meet back in the Man-Home to discuss our next step," the alpha instructs before continuing to make her way back to the farmlands.
Although Silvermane far prefers prey in her mouth, sometimes, the definition of 'prey' must be stretched a little. Leaning down, she takes a hefty bite from the flank, making sure to avoid the parts Tamanous is known to enjoy, before she too trots off. Silvermane will be taking a short detour, though, before she returns to the home of Man.
Rayen strolls up to the stream, stares at her reflection for a second or two, then promptly drops the chunk of flesh; a gift to her admirers. Yes.
[OOC: This marks the second assassination of Lazuli wolves...what will be done to try and stop this evil force? It doesn't seem they'll be ceasing of their own accord anytime soon, after all...]
