Two-River Fork
Tariro - Male Wolf (Alpha)
Coinin - Male Wolf
---------------
She'd been spending a lot of time in this specific area, be it because of the popularity of it with the other wolves or simply because the sound of running water was soothing. She's off to the side, away from those who actually belong to the pack, curled up in a patch of dry earth a distance from the actual river bed. Her head is settled upon her paws, eyes lazily lidded but ears constantly rotating to the sounds of the night around her. Rayen's breath comes out in tiny puffs in the air, her fur rustling in a gentle breeze. It was definately a calm peaceful cool night, something a wolf like her was thankful to have; just one night not having to constantly look over your shoulder.
Coinin pads in slowly from patrolling around the borders of the lands. He hasn't seen or heard anything this night that would speak of danger or really anything for that matter. He did scent the smell of a new wolf in the area that he didn't recognize, in addition to the one he welcomed a few days ago. It seems the tide of guests is never ending. While he doens't mind having them around he hopes the tide slows soon, or the lands will be overrun with a rather large crowd of wolves. He quickly surveys the area and the sight of Rayen meets his eyes. He smiles, he is certainly pleased that both she and Catori have decided to stay. He then lets his gaze survey the rest of the area to see who else might be about.
The remaining snow on the ground served as a warning of the Spring to come. The air was warming sending chunks of snow from their perches amongst the trees but not enough to fully melt the piles that were left afterwards. Sitting in the clearing just before the river a white wolf listens, ears twitching to the sound of falling snow and eyes jutting to its direction. He has waited a long time to act, but as things fall quiet Tariro stands and approaches one of these piles, jumping with out warning. Sinking into the snow, the biggest of smiles show on his face fading at the sound of paw steps catches his attention.
Coinin's gaze falls upon Tariro, who seems to be at the present moment sitting in a rather large pile of snow. He catches at least a bit of the smile before it fades. Part of him is tempted to go and leave the alpha in peace, but that would feel kind of stupid. Besides its good for Tariro to have a good time. Sometimes Coinin finds himself worrying about him, "Hello." he says.
Tariro was never alone but for times like this he hoped no one would walk in and find him actually enjoying himself for once. Though, that isn't the case as he hears Coinin's voice break through the silence. Couching down into the snow, even though he's already been seen, he tries to hide by flicking snow up with his tail to cover his body. Silly looking, he stops when his attempts come off as fruitless.
Coinin has managed to find time to be alone by sometimes going off on his own to take time for himself. Perhaps Tariro would benefit from something like this. He takes a seat and politely acts as if he doesn't see anything, since that seems to be what Tariro wants. As far as he is concerned if Tariro wants to jump in the snow then its his perogative to jump in the snow.
Though he sometimes looked, or even needed time to himself, Tariro wasn't one to just walk off alone; not any more. Looking through the snow at Coinin, he smirks, tailing flicking visibly about. Something was clearly on the alpha's mind as he slowly begins to crawl from his cover and to another pile closer to his packmate.
Coinin watches the alpha out of the corner of his eye, when he sees him crawl from the pile of snow he politely turns to face him. After all he is the alpha, and it would be impolite not to pay attention to him, "Hello my lord..." he says. He will not speak of the snow incident unless Tariro brings it up himself. As far as he is concerned everyone is entitled to have fun.
The new pile, smaller than the first, becomes Tariro's new cover; hanging out and is the worse looking snow extension ever. Perking his ears to Coinin's voice yet again, he grins. Acting as if he didn't know the wolf was ever there, he slips out from the snow and approaches leaping in a pounce. "Hiii Cooiinninn!"
Coinin had wondered if Tariro was planning something like that. Though it seemed a bit out of character for him. On the one paw, he is pleased to see that Tariro is in a good mood, but on the other paw he sort of uncomfortable with it. He has only a moment to consider what to do with this. He takes a quick step to the right and quickly composes himself, "Hello my lord..." he says again.
The quick step to the right causes Tariro to miss and plummet to the ground beside him. Looking up at Coinin he smiles. "Awe, no fun." Tail wags not disappointed that he didn't achieve the pounce. "How you been Coinin?" Knowing that Coinin felt awkward when it came to interaction with him, he decided to break that ice by showing some friendly contact with a nuzzle.
Coinin has never been much of a touchy feely kind of wolf, even when he was in his home pack. He stiffens as he he is nuzzled, but he will allow it, "I've been well. How have you been?" he asks. This is definitely a different side of Tariro than he has seen before. He had been sort of worried about Tariro lately, especially since he had seemed rather upset during the last conversation that they had.
Tariro has always been a rather careing wolf. Yes, there have been times where he would rather keep to himself but why should that stop him now. "Glad to hear, I've been good." After the nuzzle, he leans against the wolf picking up on his stiffness. Pushing himself up and taking a seat he looks at Coinin, "You really need to loosen up. I'm not going to bite." What kind of alpha would he be if he bite those of his pack.
Coinin didn't get kicked out of his last pack for being too flexible. He got kicked out because he is in general far to rigid. He maintains his rigid posture, but attempts to smile in response to Tariro, "My lord I'm not concerned about that..." he says. In truth he isn't concerned about much of anything at the moment, beyond the normal day to day things. The only concern that he did have he might as well address with him now, "I noticed that the last time we spoke you seemed upset. I'm sorry if I said anything that bothered you."
Tariro is pleased to see the smile; it was a start. As he mentions being concerned about something, he raises a brow in interest. Listening to what is said Tar' head shakes with a smile. "Sorry to worry you." He says, "Its just, been a long time since I last sote someone 'special' out. When you mentioned the possiblity of you doing such it reminded me of what I lost." He sounds calm with he say this, like he has moved on. The memory of when his brother found Alaqua, how it made him feel, suddenly enters his head. "Its hard to see someone find a partner after such things. I dont want that to stop you though. There are so many things one needs to experince and share. Like friendship, love... family, even leadership..." He stops there not really sure he wants to go into that just yet.
Coinin nods his head slowly. He had suspected as much, particularly after his conversation with Rockfall, who had mentioned how much in love with Aika that Tariro had been. Coinin had sort of put two and two together at that point. He relaxes his posture a bit after Tariro speaks. He feels slightly more confident now that Tariro wouldn't turn him down if he actually managed to find someone. The prospect is still pretty distant, but he certainly plans to be open to the posibility, "I am sorry for your loss." he says. After all this is polite thing to say. He then smiles a bit wider, "Speaking of friendship...or at the very least of guests, there is a new guest that I met the other day. She says her name is Molasses. She seems polite, and wishes to meet with you when its possible." Beyond that little bit of information he has little to bring Tariro up to speed on, "I certainly have found friendship here. Niyt is definitely a friend, and so is Lex. Rayen also seems rather nice."
Tariro smiles to this, glad that Coinin understands. "Dont be." He says, "Things happen. We must all learn to move on." He sure has. Curling his tail about his left side, he stretches out his forelimbs in front of him before laying down. The new brought to him just then perks his interest. "A new guest you say." They sure have had a lot of them lately; not that his complaining. Provides opportunities this pack has long been lacking. "I hope she hasn't been waiting long, its certianly not my intention." A gental smile if given to Coinin. "What of me, am I your friend?" He didn't want to always be considered his lord afterall.
Coinin is now put in something of a pickle. Of course he respects Tariro as a leader, and looks up to him as well, but for friendship you actually have to know the person on some level beyond that. He frowns, only slightly before he manages to catch it and turns his expression back into something closer to neutral. This is a real difficulty for Coinin honestly vs. politness, two of the things that he values most, "I would like that to happen..." he says. Its true he would like to be his friend. His old Alpha certainly never paid him any attention at all, beyond the negative attention that he got near the end of his stay there.
Tariro slowly nods. "I get the feeling you see diffifulty in that." Sure, he gets what Coinin may be feeling, but sometimes in order to form a relationship with someone you need to let go of the fact their your leader and think of them as a friend. "There is no reason why you cant see me as a friend just like everyone else." He tells him. "I dont want to be seen as just your alpha, because I wont always be. But as a friend- thats forever."
Coinin has certainly noted the rather laid back nature of things here in contract to others places. He had always assumed it was because most of the pack was family in one way shape or form. Everyone seems to be an aunt, uncle or cousin. He is none of those things. He certainly sees where Tariro is going. Would he want him as a friend? Certainly. At the same time he didn't want to be presumptuous about it, "I would definitely like to be your friend." he says.
Tariro smiles, "Then it is settled. We are friends and I'm not taking No for an answer." A light chuckle escapes him afterwards. See, that wasn't hard. Stretching out once more, the night hour seems to catch up with him as he can no longer hold back a yawn.
