Wind, male dog
Ahiga, male adolescent wolf - Ute
Setting:
Swampy Marsh
Scene:
Ahiga is digging this newfound freedom thing. Granted, he hasn't exactly gotten /permission/ to go wandering about on his own, but hey, he's feeling suddenly a little rebellious lately. And so, the young wolf continues to explore lesser known parts of the lands..but he's not sure if he likes /this/ part. It's wet. And sticky. And it's causing him to walk weird, trying to pick his legs up high out of the water with each step.
Wind is always digging the freedom thing, even if he doesn't always remember where he has just come from or have any true idea of where he is going. He had been warned by the horses to steer clear of the wolves, and has had a bad experience of wolves in the past, but that conversation was long ago and has been consigned to forgetfullness. At the present moment he is happily sloshing through the marsh. This land has water on it...cool. He sings to himself as he sloshes along, "Water...water...water..." Ok. Not really a very creative song, but he isn't the most creative of beasts. The wolf for the present moment goes completely unnoticed.
Ok, yeah. This murky watery sticky place definitely isn't on Ahiga's top places to run away to goof off in. Strike this from the list. And he has mind to turn his wolf tail around and head back to drier places when....a tune drifts to his ears. A water song. Now, singing isn't exactly unheard of in these parts, but this is a voice he's never heard before. He pauses, left leg raised up out of the water as he turns his head, trying to pinpoint the sound. And it isn't exactly hard. Trees here are thin and spindly, not the greatest hiding places. Plus, the creature that he spies is not line any he's seen before. Golden eyes widen. What /is/ that? Curiosity gnaws, and he finds himself moving forward, towards the singing thing, not sure whether he should growl at it or...what.
Wind quickly becomes aware that he is being watched and that something is moving toward him. He takes a moment as he takes in the sight, 'What is it?' he thinks to himself. And then just as quickly he answers himself...outloud, "Dog!" he shouts as he begins to bound, at least as best as he can, toward the younger wolf. Yep Ahiga is most definitely a dog. I mean he has ears and a tail and isn't red like a fox...so therefore is a dog. He slowly builds up speed as he moves toward him and shows absolutely no sign of slowing down or stopping. There is no hostility or aggression in his features that would say that Ahiga is about to be attacked.
Woah...wait, what? The shouted word succeeds in startling the what was approaching teen wolf, who now freezes in his tracks. What the heck is 'dog'? And...why is that thing running at him? "...H-hey....Hey!" Ahiga protests splashing backwards a bit in the water. This creature definitely must be diseased. It's definitely not following the rules of first meetings. And if it has a disease, he's not going to allow it to spread to him! And so, he musters up a growl, paws still slip-splashing in the water as he moves backwards, trying to keep space between him and the fastly approaching fiend. "Stay away from me y'psycho!"
Wind is most certainly not diseased, unless you count his wits...he is most assuredly mental...but it is not his fault, but from his perspective he is quite sane and the rest of the world is a bit weird. Ahh well, what can a dog do? At this point he has built up far to much speed to simply slow down and stop. Besides the slippery, sloshy ground doesn't really give itself over to graceful stops. When he becomes aware of the situation he simply says, "Uh oh...." he lowers his head. If he is going to collide with the other dog he doesn't want to get hit in the face.
Ok, he needs to move. That thing isn't stopping. Ahiga is a pretty quick-witted wolf, or at least he seems to think so, but unfortunately his wits aren't exactly about him at this time, and the thought of MOVE! is a little slow to register. He thought the shout would do the trick. That, or that rather impressive growl of his. And thus, when his feet finally do begin to slosh through to turn him around, it's too late. Slam! "Argh!!" His cry soon turns to a gurgle as he falls over and finds himself half submerged in the soupy water. His mouth opens wide as he brings his head up, gasping in a gulp of air. "/DUDE!/"
Wind sort of bounced off of Ahiga when the two of them collided, but he managed to fair a little better and came to a rather slow stop a few feet away from the wolf. When he hears Ahiga shout dude, he looks around to see if someone else is here. After all his name isn't 'dude' its 'wind' perhaps the other dog doesn't know that? Weird. He does have enough sense to apologize, "I'm sorry...didn't mean to do that." he says. And in truth he didnt, he just got a bit excited and didn't think things all the way through.
Muttering and grumbling, Ahiga gets to his paws, looking irritated as he glares at the golden thing with narrow eyes. He takes a moment to shake himself before taking a few steps back again. "Yeah well, doofus ya did, meant to or not," he snorts, ears falling back against his skull. "An' you /touched/ me. You know what that means, huh? Means that whatever /you/ got, I'm gonna get too. I've /seen/ diseased things." Pssst...he hasn't. But the scowl on his face is rather convincing. "Next thing y'know, you're gonna start chewin' off your own legs, an' so am I now thanks to you."
Wind frowns slightly. Why is this dog treating him this way? After all he said he was sorry. And what on earth does he mean by diseased and chewing off legs and things? Is there something around here that does that? If there is he certainly wants no part of it whatsoever. And who on earth is this 'doofus' that he is calling for. There doesn't appear to be anyone else here, "No...I like to keep my legs where they are." he states rather blandly. He isn't being sarcastic in the least, he is a very litteral creature after all, "Who is doofus?"
Gods. This ... whatever this is is further diseased than Ahiga initially thought. His brain is obviously melting away, rotting from sickness. Hopefully he has some time before he progresses that far. Ahiga would like to bring down his first real kill before he starts making zero sense to those around him. "Doofus is you, dummy," he retorts, wrinkling his nose. "Don' you know what that means? Means stupid. Idiot. Loser. Somebody who goes around runnin' into everybody else." His ears perk a little. "Like you. Get it?"
Wind frowns as this wolf speaks so abusevily to him. What on earth did Wind ever do to him? Other than accidentally knock him down of course. He whimpers in response to the comments from Ahiga, it almost makes him want to cry. Wind definitely wears his emotions on his sleeve...at least he would if he had sleeves, "I'm not stupid..." he says with a sniffle.
"Pffft. Fooled me," Ahiga answers, shaking off again, as if possibly he can shake away the germs that are clinging to him, trying to wiggle their way under his skin. "An' you ar-..." Er...well. A bit of the acid seems to seep from him as he watches the sad being's demeanor change. Beh. Can it be that Ahiga has a conscience? One that he may actually be listening to? He exhales a slow breath and rolls his eyes. "Whatever. What /are/ you anyway? I've never seen nothin' like you ever before around here."
Wind continues to sniffle a bit as the wolf continues to be mean. He just doesn't understand such things and there is most definitely not a mean bone in his body, "I'm a dog like you." he says. After all dogs come in all shapes and sizes and Ahiga definitely looks like a dog..of course so do the coyotes and foxes that he has met, but at least the foxes look sufficently different to be told apart.
Ahiga fixes him with a blank look that lasts a few long seconds before his brows push together. "Uh...no. I'm not a ....dog." He says the word as if it were in a different language. Foreign and unfamiliar. "I'm a wolf. Duh," he tacks on dryly. "An'...I guess you were a wolf too, til you got sick," he says, formulating this hypothesis on the spot. He begins to move now, aiming to circle around the dog at a good distance, trying to get a good look at him. Weird fur. Weird shaped head. Soggy ears. Something definitely went wrong with this wolf. "Wow, it /really/ messed ya up. How can ya even hear with them ears?"
Wind doesn't want to be sick, or strange. He doesn't feel that he is either, but if the other dog says so perhaps it is true. Perhaps he is really messed up and is so messed up that he doesn't know it. This is enough to finally send him over the line from simple sniffles into full blown tears, "I don't want to be sick..." he cries. And its true he doesn't, but if he were bright enough or with it this evening he would know that he isn't...but this is just one of those nights.
Uh oh. "Hey, stop doin' that," says Ahiga, whose feeling a nagging feeling of guilt slightly press against his chest. Slightly, mind you. It's never nice to see someone cry, but this guy isn't part of his pack, so why should he care? "S'already wet here. You don' want to flood it over," he says, looking irritated again. But beneath it all, there's a glimmer of something else. "There's no use cryin' about it. You're sick already. So'm I now thanks to you, but you don't see me cryin' like a pup do ya?" Granted, he has more time to find a cure (he hopes) before he morphs into a shaggy haired freak show. This guy is likely knocking on death's cave, but he decides to keep that to himself.
Wind can't help himself at this point. He just has to cry now. There is no way to console him at this point. Ahiga has definitely touched a cord, "I don't want to be sick....fix it." he demands. Well yeah...you can totally just fix things like that with no problems at all.
"Uhhh..." Fix it. Oh yes because he has all the answers! Ahiga glances left and right, as if expecting someone to materialize and get him out of this mess. All this blubbering is going to cause someone or thing to come, and that someone or thing likely isn't going to be anything (or one) pleasant! "Alright alright, jus' shhh! Shut up!" he hisses, lowering his head a bit. "I'll fix it, alright? Will ya jus' stop the noise? See, all ya gotta do is..is..." Think Ahiga, think! "Jus'...find a yellow flower, eat it, then find a brown mouse. Eat it. Then sit on a rock til the sun goes down an /bam!/ you're fixed."
Wind sniffled and sucks back in a line of snot that had been hanging off of his nose, "Sllllllllllllluuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp.......ok." he says to the other dog. He continues to sniffle a bit and glances around. He doesn't see any sort of flowers around here at all. And that worries him. How is he supposed to get better if he doesn't find one of these yellow flowers.
Ahiga shudders, trying to deafen himself to the sound of snot being sucked back into the nose. "Yeah so....yeah. Now ya know what to do so...I'm outta here." The water is suddenly feeling like a pool of boogers to him, which is beginning to gross him out. Plus! He has his own very real problem: Although his "cure" was totally bogus, the disease is definitely real. And he has it. And he does not want to be a sniveling crazy golden...dog thing. "So good luck with the cure thing, aaand....you'll turn back to a wolf real soon, I bet," said as he starts walking backwards, heading away from the dog.
Wind isn't going to just let the wolf walk away from this. After all there are no flowers around here and he needs to know where the flowers are. This wolf seems to know what he doing after all. He just follows after him, not saying anything. At least at the moment he isn't crying any longer.
Meh. Something is wrong here. No /way/ is he bringing this freak show to his home to infect everyone else. "Hey.. No. /No/ you're not comin' this way," Ahiga says, pausing now, his frown finding itself back on his face. "You go /that/ way," he nods in the opposite direction. A direction away from the scent markers that mark the Ute lands. "I'll go this way."
Wind isn't going to just stop following the wolf. After all there don't seem to be any flowers in the direction that Ahiga is pointing him to go, "But I want to go with you to find the flowers." he says earnestly.
Whatever pity was felt for this dog has slipped away quickly, and like the swipe of a match his aggravation is reignited quickly. Ahiga's hackles begin to raise, and his ears slide against his slender skull. "I said /no/." he growls, forcing his voice to sound as gruff as possible. "You're not gonna come with me. There aren't any flowers here, doofus. This is my home, so I know."
Wind lowers his head and sniffles again. The dog doesn't want to be his friend and is going to go make him be sick by himself. He has come to the conclusion that this dog is quite simply very mean. He begins to walk away from him, his tail hanging low.
Phew... Crisis averted. The last thing Ahiga needs is the knowledge that he was the cause of some outbreak within the pack that adopted him. Speaking of ... hopefully he isn't contagious himself. Man, this dog thing has ruined everything! But he knows who to ask about this. He know who can /really/ cure him of this scourge of a sickness! He's already feeling a little...woozy. But he holds his ground til he's sure the dog won't change his mind, and...just in case he gets mind to, he flashes his teeth at him. Grrr!
