Ahiga - male adolescent wolf
Althaea - female juvenile wolf
---Wildwood Acre---
Snow. Thin, white flakes flutter down from a cloudy grey sky, settling silently on the cold ground. It's snowing! It isn't exactly the first snow of the season, for flurries have come and gone as the temperature has dropped, but Ahiga is looking up at the sky as if he's never seen the stuff before. He walks along into the forest, watching the skies with a slight frown. As a flake falls upon his nose, he snorts and shakes his head, raising a paw and lowering his head to brush his muzzle against it.
The cool air that accompanies winter was a new feeling, something that Althaea found difficult keeping warm from. The white stuff that fell from the sky- it was enough to keep the adrenaline pumping in attempts to catch some, but was nothing to keep wet fur from flacking off bits of ice. As the cold made it hard to breath at times, she shivered when trying to recatch it and her teeth chattered. Loking around for any ways of keeping warm, she spots Ahiga not far off; moving over to him in a hurried fashion. When at his side, she leans up again his coat even trying to sneak her way under him.
Ahiga is so caught up glaring at the sky that he doesn't notice Althae'as presense until she's almost upon him. He blinks, spying the younger wolf's fast approach, and he opens his mouth to greet her, but not before she cuddles up beneath him! "Hey! Uh.." he begins to protest, highstepping a little to keep himself from trampling her. Well...it /is/ cold, and her fur likely isn't as thick as his. He exhales a frosty sigh, settling a lifted paw back to the ground. "...Cold, I guess?" he says with a cocked brow and crooked smirk. "Y'know, it's usually polite to ask before y'start burrowing under somebody."
Althaea really wasn't thinking when she made the choice to seek warmth under the older wolf; running purely on determination. Opening her mouth to give response, her teeth chatter once more. "S.sss..Sorrrry." Taking that as a sign that he didn't want her there, she crawls out from under him. Now what was she going to do? Her coat bristleing from the cold she curls up as much as her body can go.
Ahiga snickers and rolls his eyes. "S'too late /now/" he says after she's removed herself from her haven of his fur. "Might as well stay there. Plus, if you get all sick 'n cough-y beccause've /me/ well...then guess who'll be in trouble?" Grinning a little he gestures with his muzzle for her to come back. "Plus, shouldn't you be in the den?" he asks, tilting his head. "Guess you wanted to see the snow, huh? Just wait. This is /nothin'/. Give it a while an' the whole world's gonna be covered with it. And when you walk, you'll hear all your steps crunch under your paws."
Yeah, but it seems Altha didn't take into account how cold it was going to be. Looking at up Ahiga she blinks confused. Why say she should of asked but then suggest she be there than freeze... Uncurling and moving back over to him, she approaches different this time, keeping to his sides and not his underfur. "What is sno..no..now!" she chatters slowly reclaiming her warmth.
"Um. .. It's this stuff," explains Ahiga who lifts a paw to try to bat at a fluttering snowflake. "The stuff that's falliin' from the sky? That's snow. It's like...rain but...not. It's colder, and it can be funner..." He pauses at that word, wrinkling his nose a bit as he thinks it over. "More fun," he corrects thoughtfully, "but at the same time it's not. It makes stuff harder to find. Stuff like food," he points out as he looks at her, apparently not having much of a problem with her using him for warmth. That's what packmates are for, right? He grins a little. "But it does make things like kinda cool. You'll see."
Althaea looks at the white flake that falls from the sky, tilting her head as it hits the ground. Finding another she watches it too drop to the ground and join the other. "Snow." Just like that she smiles. Perhaps this stuff wasn't going to be so bad afterall. Leaning into the older wolf, she brushes her head agaist his coat a few times. She felt rather comforted by his warmth and if she had a choice wouldn't leave it.
Snow makes things beautiful, but this year, it does mark a time of sadness. Wachiwa will be leaving soon, if she hasn't already done so. Tala has gone off to Cerulean lands and has not yet returned, and it's snowing. She'll need to come back pretty soon else risk the snow becoming too deep for long travel. He shudders a little, flicking an ear. He glances to Althaea in time to see her smile, which causes him to smirk a little. "I'll take ya out sometime when it gets deeper. Show ya the cool things you can do with snow." He glances to the left, ears perking and nostrils flaring a big. "Mm. C'mon. It's gettin' a little late, an' the darker it gets, the colder it gets.." He nudgers her lightly with his nose before standing. "To the den! S'a lot warmer there."
Althaea looks up at the wolf and blinks. Theres going to be more? To her whats already fallen is alot, but if theres going to be more theres not telling how she's going to react. Pushing herself from the wolf when he stands, she looks around them and a shiver runs over her spine. Nodding, she stands. "Ok." Staying close, she waits for him to lead not wanting to get lost in all this snow.
And lead he does, for Ahiga makes a great leader and all. After giving himself a brisk shake, he heads forth in the direction of the hill and the warm home den that awaits them.
