Waterfall Pool
Ahiga m Wolf
Althaea f. Juve. Wolf
-------------------------
Something tells Ahiga to steer clear of the waterfall cave. Call it instinct, and instinct cannot be wrong. It was instinct that warned him of the dog's coming. Too bad it didn't kick in a few days prior to their arrival. But in any case, Ahiga is staying away from their new...eh...home and lingers outside, sitting with his head slightly tilted up. He's watching the top of the falls with a look of vague interest, his tail tapping against the ground every once in a while.
Althaea had left the cave when she first started hearing the labor pains of her aunt. Not wanting to get in the way and ultimately having no idea what one like herself could do to whatever it was that brought Wachiwa agony she made quick retreat to where the sound of the falls blocked out most of the noise inside. Not going to far at first, she watched the falls for a while before growing bored. Now traveling around the pool, she gives only one look back to the cave before turning outward. Head tilting to the wolf lingering outside, she smiles. "Ahiga!" Always glad to see him, she bounds over.
Ahiga pulls his eyes away form the falls to look over, hearing his name. Meh. He doesn't very much like /not/ being able to hear someone approach. Anyone could sneak up on them with all the noise that the waterfall is making. But for now, there's not much that can be done about it. Luckily, the one approaching now is a friend, not a foe, and Althaea inspires a smile from the young wolf as he turns her way. "Hey Thaea," he greets to the growing pup. Yeesh. Soon, he won't be able to refer to her as a pup anymore, now can he? He lifts his ears, smile remaining on his muzzle. "You're lookin' good, girl. Strong an' all. You find that hare I left for you 'n Hadir? Mia caught it, but s'part my gift too," he says, smirking faintly.

The last of her steps brings Althaea up to Ahiga, standing before him with her earlier smile. "Heh, thanks." She doesn't boast her growing appearance or at least outwardly anyway. Nosing the older wolf on the shoulder she blinks. There was a hare here and she's only being told about it now.. whatsup with that? Looking side to side she hmms. "No, I didn't." Not seeing it she assumes her brother probably took advantage of it. He needed it more than her afterall. "Its ok though. Not really all that hungry." Taking a seat she quietly glances back toward the falls for a moment before returning Ahiga. "How come your out here all be yourself?"
"Ah, what? No hare?" Ahiga clicks his tongue a little, shaking his head. "Well, y'know what that means, eh? We'll jus' have to go out an' get another one. I know wher-..." He pauses there, brows faintly furrowing. No. He /knew/ where good rabbit hunting was on their former homelands. His eyes drift away from her momentarily, his expression shadowing. But, at Althaea's voice, he pushes his thoughts away and refocuses on her, a fraction of his smile returning. "Well, m'sure the rabbits around here aren't too hard to find. An' you probably should get some huntin' practice in, huh? Somethin' bigger than mice." He winks, and at her latter question, eyes the waterfall again. "Dunno. Jus'... feels like I shouldn't be in there right now." A mirthless chuckle. "And somethin' tells me I'll be all by myself a little more often now."
Ears up to even the thought of going to find a hare of their own- even her own -Althaea was excited but she did just state she wasn't all that hungry and the furrowing kinda makes her give up hope too. This wasn't home. Who knew what was out there. However, she was more than willing to go find what they sought. Trying not to look disappointed she smirks. "I've caught stuff bigger than mice." she claims dispite never keeping hold of them long enough to actually kill and eat. Following his look to the falls she raises a brow but doesn't question his motives for staying away. "By yourself.. no you wont." She smirks. "Not if I can help it." She stands enthusiastically.
"Yeah? Somethin' bigger like what? A fat mouse?" teases Ahiga with a smug look, though it all seems to be in play. He leans over to gently bump his head to her shoulder, offering a grin. "Next time ya catch somethin' bigger than a mouse, you let me see it. Buuut...after a while, it's not gonna be a big deal, cuz I'm gonna teach ya, and next thing you know, you'll be bringin' squirrel, snakes, rabbits, an' /deer/ down." His tail thumps gently against the ground, and he chuckles at her enthusiasm. "What? You gonna keep me company?"
It was bigger right? Give the girl some credit, at least she out there trying. A bit of a playful laugh is given to the head bump, nipping at his ears when they pass by. "Yea, sure." Now came the task of trying not to east what she catches. The bigger stuff she wont have to worry about, cause well.. he was going to be there. "Thats not going to be a problem is it?" She smirks, planning on being there even if it was.
Ahiga shakes his head, "Shouldn' be, but to be straight with ya, Thaea, I dunno if I'm the funnest wolf to be around anymore. Things are changin' in a lot of ways, an' I'm not always sure where I stand," he says with a light roll of his shoulders, and he offers her a smirk. "Would you still wanna keep me company if I was a boring ol' loser that nobody liked?"
What kind of friend would she be if she just let him sit out here by himself- a horrible one she thought. Even if he wasn't the same wolf that he once was before the attack on their home. Althaea didn't care. Looking at him she frowns. "Ahiga. I.." She pauses. Did he really think himself a loser? "I dont think of you as a loser." Thats beside the point, she thought him interesting and her friend. Friends were suppose to stick together no matter what right. "Besides, I dont care if you suddenly became boring or not. Your my friend." They could sit there staring at the dirt saying nothing and they still would be. Stepping up to him she leans her head against his shoulder. "I'm going to be here no matter what, so get use to it." She smirks.
.. Woah. Ahiga really can't call her a pup anymore, can he? Not with the way she's talking. And, geeze she can reach his shoulder, easy. As she leans against him, all these thoughts rush at him at once. Where has the time gone? Was it really just last spring she, Hadir, and Soyala were born? Little fuzzy things that he really didn't have any interest in dealing with? He was just a pup himself then. He, Ikuna, and Tala. Taking for granted the safety of their home which they explored daily. It both saddens and angers him to realize now that Althaea won't have the same sort of Ute adventures by the crabapple tree the clover field. "Alright, alright. You win," he relents. "Friends to the end, borin' old wolf or not." He grins and lightly sways his body to bump against her playfully. "An' speakin' of being old 'n boring, I think I'm gonna lay down a while before scoping out good huntin' places. Who knows how long we're gonna have to stay here."
Anyone could talk like they knew something but honestly, Althaea was a child and new little about anything. She had her own feelings though and she knew how to express them. Ahiga didn't seem, to her, like the type to just give up. She certianly wasn't. Pushing herself from his shoulder she looks at him with a since of hope; a smile creeping onto her lips as she listens to him give in. "No matter what." Swaying against the bump she chuckles. "Finally showing your age huh." She teases knowing he wasn't that old. "How you going to keep up with me acting like that." Again she chuckles, taking a seat this time watching him. "Guess I'll just sit right here then and wait." Make sure he doesn't roll into the water or something.
Ahiga makes a show of streeetching and sliiiiding down onto his stomach. Cuz he's an old elderly decrepit wolf and all! "Eeeh, you young'ns move too fast anyway. Gotta slooow down, like me. Enjoy life.." He says in his best impersonation of an elderly wolf. He lays his head on his paws. Although he's just playing at being ol, he is truly tired and is ready for a nap! "Sure, but y'don' have to sit there the whole time. That'd be weird, an' you need a lil' fun. Play with Miakoda. She's pretty cool.." He yaaaawns widely and lays his head back down. "Talk to ya later, Althaea.." he says distantly, already starting to fall asleep.
Althaea chuckles at the rather poor imitation; though what does she know, she's never met anyone old before. "Alright, but just this once." She'll slow down just for him this once after that he's on his own. A smirk on her face she stands and stampers off the moment he looks to be asleep. "See you in the morning Ahiga."
