---Kachina, at the Paddock Pond---
A faint rain has been falling over the area and Kachina is on the move to find a place to escape it would seem. Her gaze flicks over the area and a faint snuffle escapes her as she checks in the passing breeze in the process. Her ears flick forward an her gaze settles upon the fence that can still be found to make up the paddock. A soft hum escapes her while she presses forward, tail flicking a few times as she goes to explore more. She's never seen anything like this before after all, everything is new and different..
Some distance across the field is a falling-apart shed. Now, half the roof has fallen in, and the rest is covered with grass and moss, and the door has been flung permanently off the hinges. Inside, it's dim, light coming through cracks in the walls.
Kachina moves onwards through the tall grasses, heading ever closer towards where the fallen in shed can be found. Once she is near it she pauses, ears perking and bright gaze flicking one way an then another with another sniff to the passing breeze. "What a strange place.." She murmurs out to herself. Her pawsteps bring her closer to the shed and she leans over to sniff at the half hanging door.
As Kachina investigates the ramshackle shed, something else investigates her. The rain falls straight through the figure watching her, and what a figure it is; the powerful, shaggy body of a wolverine, wearing on its head the antlered skull of a deer. The creature is silent, wolverine eyes watching through empty deer eye-sockets.
Kachina hasn't picked up on the fact that someone is watching her within the shed, at least not yet.. Her paw presses against the shed door a few times an as it creeks she does a half jump back and eyes it curiously like a kitten might with a new toy. Though her gaze flicks towards something and there she catches sight of the wolverine. Fear runs down her spine in the form of a cold freezing touch and she swallows hard but something seems to make her stand still and thus there she is unmoving, staring back at the creature.
So the staring contest begins. The wolverine shows no sign of fear, or other emotion besides interest - not that it's easy to read expressions past that bony mask. After a few long moments, she steps forward and to the side, inspecting the cougar before her from a different angle.
Why would a ghost fear anything?.. AN looking like that why would they fear anyone? Kachina stands rock still, a few twitching termor seen in her tail and she takes in a slight breath. Her gaze flicks around to follow the creature as it following around her. "Can..I..help you?"
Why would anyone fear a ghost? Just a remnant of the past. A lost soul. That's all, right? The wolverine chuckles, gravel-voiced. "Yes," she says, considering the feline for another moment. Her voice sounds less rough than it once did, when she first reappeared to Kachina and took on the stag-skull. "And I will help you."
Kachina ears wilt back against her skull and she peers at the wolverine. "Your..help me?" She seems unsure about this, her nose twitches. "Why would you want to help me.. An.. how can you help me?"
"I will help you," repeats the wolverine. "You... are alone. Lonely." The antlered head shakes slowly side to side. "No family. No father. No mother." Now the wolverine comes closer, a single step, as bone-ringed eyes seek to lock with Kachina's. "You can bring them back. I know the way."
Kachina ahs at this and looks puzzled, for a few moments she is quiet and takes in a breath as she shifts on her paws and actually settles to her haunches. "They can not be brought back. There ghosts, like you are." She points out with a slight nod, as if having to prove to herself over this.
The wolverine laughs, her voice gravel, rocks tumbling against each other. "There is a way." Her voice is calm, firm. "There is power greater than you know. Greater than I knew." She bobs her head slightly, making the antlers stab at empty air like a buck in rut. "Now, I know the way... but cannot act." She swipes a paw at a tuft of grasses, passing straight through without even stirring them.
Kachina ponders this quietly a few moments, her gaze lowering to the ground eyeing it. At first she wants to jump at the chance, to get her father back.. an her mother? To try and fix the mess she has caused to her family?.. Her gaze flicks back over to the wolverine. "An...what would stop you from coming back, and your 'friends'? Your all dead as well. If this way could bring my parents back then it could bring you and them back as well."
"It could," answers the wolverine. Her gaze is intent now, perhaps hopeful, up from the grass to look at Kachina directly. "The ritual is the same." A long moment, of silence that proves to have beneath it a faint snarl. "/I/ cannot act." The stag's skull tosses again, and the voice grows smoother and more bitter. "Not with those fools, and not now. I am left... with you."
Kachina blinks and eyes the wolverine, could she mean the same ritual in where Ikuna, Anoki and herself was stolen from their familes? "The ritual.. You mean I'd have to kill someone?" She shakes her head while pulling herself back slightly, resting more on her haunches. "I'd never know that." A snort escapes her. "You are not left, I saw the eagle days ago."
"Another dead fool." The voice is smooth, scornful. The wolverine's tail twitches, a restless motion though the rest of the body is still - though the voice remains unhurried. "Life... is a foolish thing. It can be brought from one to another. To a worthier." Antlers toss, spearing the air. "Is not your father worthy of life? If he lay hungry, would you not kill a deer for him?" So bitter, that voice, and yet so silken. "You would. Now he lies dead, and you balk at killing. Fool."
Kachina jaw tenses slighly while she takes in a breath eyeing the wolverine. "Yes my father is worthy of life. But his time is over an he would not want mt to take another's life just so he could return." A shake of her head is seen along with a stamp of a front paw, her head lowered as she eyes the wolverine. "Killing to eat it one thing, killing for a 'ritual' is another. I will not smear innocent blood to bring back my family. I'd rather stay alone then do such a thing. No one is more worthy then anyone else."
"Think on it," comes the reply to Kachina's denials. "Are they all so innocent, that you would defend them?" A tilt of the head. "Did you mourn that eagle's death? This wolverine's?" A growl comes from that wolverine, and over it a laugh, lighter now, more a rustle of leaves than a rumble of rocks. "Guilty blood works just as well as innocent." With another toss of antlers, the stag-horned wolverine... fades away.
Kachina is quiet at this, a slight frown seen as she watches the wolverin a few moments. She takes in a slight breath. "Guilty blood?.." Is questioned with a faint murmur. Well that is an idea that she will keep at the back of her mind..perhaps. Her ears perk as she watches the wolverine slowly fade away.. A faint snort escapes her while she settles herself down to the ground, a forepaw curled to her just. Well now she has a lot to think about.
There's no further word spoken, nor other sign of the wolverine. For now, Kachina is simply left alone with her thoughts.
