It was good to have another adult in the pack, even more so with it being one she was friends with. Storm is settles by what is left of the deer kill having eaten what was still eatable on the few days old carcass. There have to go hunting again soon it seems. A yawn escapes her and she sighs some while tilting her head to scratch at her neck, to many thoughts in her mind at the moment.
He had gone for a time, no one knew just where, but Felstride felt the overwhelming need to return to the glade wherein there lies a sense of companionship and even home. The male had gone for a run, one of the things he took great pride and pleasure in. His paws drumming upon the earth, his sleek and silvery frame wisping through the trees, and the feeling of his blood pumping through his entire body made his existance all worth while. It isn't until he comes close to the open grove of trees that the large wolf slows himself to a leisurely trot, his ears alert and his eyes piercing through the undergrowth. Brushing past a large, drooping fern, Felstride enters into the wide expanse of the groove trees, as if coming through the front door, his maw open in both a smile and to take deep draughts of air. Storm is the first he sees and greets her with a slow and elegant bow.
Miakoda has been exploring since awakening some hours ago. She doesn't know the place very well yet, so that's all the more reason to explore it, right? But now, the shaggy female returns to what she has deemed the Gathering Spot, humming lightly to herself and appearing in every aspect to be as carefree as any cub might be. Ears perk as she draws nearer to the glade and she inhales the many scents that linger. Meat and wolves. An inviting combination. Smirking softly, she heads forward, eyes upon Storm initially, but her attention is soon caught by an unknown wolf. Startled, she pauses in her step and backs off a foot or so, but upon watching the exchange she grins. "Wow. Storm, you liar! You said bowing wasn't necessary," she barks before trotting forth and mimicing the male's action, yet .. not as elegantly.
Storm hums while looks around and peers over to Felstride and grins while shifting up onto her haunches.. "Felstirde!" She offers happly so glad his back, sure Pinta is alright but Felstride just help ease her mind seeing how he has been with her from the start of the pack.. Pinta had tryed before and the pack failed after all which leaves her with some doght inthe male. "Oh I'm SO glad you back." She offers while bumping her head into his shoulder and smirks at Miakoda. "Oh grow up Mia.." The she-wolf offers with a snort and grin before noding to the two. "Felstride with this Miakoda, and old friend of mine that seems to be following me around." She offers with a wink to show she's playing. "Miakoda this is Felstride, the first wolf to join my happy little pack here."
The male's tongue lawls from one side of his mouth in a brief and silent, wolfish laughter at the unfamiliar she-wolf and her pup demenour. Though he does not know her, he's quite sure that Storm does considering her familiarity in her tone. Storm's reaction to his presence is at first surprising, but the nudge against his shoulder is answered with a nod, a smile, and a playful nip. For a time, Felstride says nothing as the two ladies go about their introductions, and the male takes his time to ingrain the sight, sound, and scent of Miakoda. At last he speaks up, his voice as smooth and calm as it always is, "My lady, Miakoda, it is my pleasure," he pauses, punctuating with another deep bowing gesture.. faith, he's a sucker for the ladies, "and, my lady Storm is correct, such formalities are not demanded but I hold my companions, my pack, in great respect."
"I /have/ grown up, thank you," says Mia with a crooked grin as she straightens up from her clumsy bow. She winks at her before turning to the unknown male as she's introduced to him. "Felstride? Nice to meet you," she offers with a nod to him, but his bow has her smirking. "Now, all that bowing may be good and well for her, but I won't have it with me. I'm the one who should be trying to make a good impression!" she says within light laughter. "Oh I see why you've kept this one around, Storm. I've never seen a male so formal and polite. Well-spoken too," she adds in a soft undertone.
Storm chuckles at Mia and smiles. "Oh I keep him around because his good a playing games." She offers with a playful wink and grins before looking back to the male. "There been some problems since you left. We had a fox that went to the farm and nearly killed.. It means something to us because she told them there are wolves out here and near the brook." The alpha sighs a moment while settling on her haunches, tail flicking some. "So far I've not seen anything unnormal that might show the farm dogs have came into the forest more then normal but its still rather unerving to say the least."
Slowly, Felstride's grin subsides and his attention falls upon Storm and his ears prick forwards as she mentions a bit of trouble. His brows knit together in concern for a brief moment, and his gaze flickers northwards where he knows the farm lays in its strange and alien world. A low murmuring rises up from his chest as he settles back on his haunches, shrugging his shoulders almost imperceptably. "The fox's.. adventure.. was little more than an accident, as was its slip of the tongue. I doubt very much that the farm dogs would venture their way this far, let alone with dragging their master in tow. We shall wait, watch, and listen, but we will not worry about it." Then, he offers his alpha a smile and nudges her shoulder with his nose. "Besides, I have news of my own. Those rocks, my lady, that you noticed from a distance in the mountains? Well, though I did not visit them I came much closer than you did, and I caught faint scents of life.. although who, I am unsure of. We should keep our sense tuned towards the mountains as well; it might prove useful." That said, he shakes a few ruffs out of his coat and smiles at Mia'. "My lady Storm is right, lady Miakoda.. I play very well." Grin.
The mentioning of the fox has Miakoda grimacing, remembering the story told to her the other day. "Lucky for her she hasn't shown her weasly snout here since. Apparently, she's a little bit wiser than I'd've thought," she snorts before lifting her head a little and looking around, as if expecting to see the eyes and tail of said creature. Needless to say, she doesn't, and her attention returns to the two wolves, listening closely to what Felstride has to say about the mountains. But really, none of it seems to have any profound meaning to her, as she is still growing used to this place and its inabitants. BUt she still pays attention and tilts her head a little as he finishes. "You don't seem as if you play well," she comments bluntly, yet not unkindly. "But! I'll take Storm's word for it. I've never known her to lie," she adds, grinning to the female.
The wolf quietly lets Storm go about her business as alpha, setting up the authority heirarchy as she sees fit, and inwardly smiling as he realizes that the two of them will be making the journey into the mountains. Seems like Storm trusts him a great deal, and that puts a great feeling of pride into Felstride's heart. He is brought out of his reverie, however, by his alpha's grin. He turns his attention to Mia', a look of feigned shock and horror melting onto his features at her disbelief at his playing abilities. "My dear!" Fel' begins, pressing a paw to his chest fluff in an attempt to look injuried, "My life has flashed before me after hearing your doubt of my remarkable skill!" The male barks a laugh and springs to all fours, nipping at both females in turn before bounding and pouncing at Mia' before racing to the middle of the grove. He spreads his forepaws wide, his tongue lawling in play, his tail high in the air as he issues a playful whine inviting the two to join him.
Keep an eye on the pack? "Of course," she says with a dip of her head. "Though good luck to me if I can get them to listen to me. Me, the newest! But don't worry friends," she says to them both, offering a good-natured and rather confident smile. "I know how to hold my own and respect will be earned. It'll be an honor to watch over the pack for you. Though don't be gone for too long," she warns with a playful nudge to Storm. "I might let all the power go to my head." An overstatement of course, and she says it as playfully as ever, obviously not wanting to be taken seriously. But to Fel, her ears perk and her grin fades a little. That is until she gets the gist that he's joking. But even so, his sudden pounce goes unexpected, and she's not able to scramble away. "Hey!" she protests as she tumbles and regains her footing. "That sounds like a challenge to me. Let's get him, Storm!" she barks, tail wagging as she bounds towards the male.
Storm smirks at Mia.. "Don't worry if I tell them to follow you they shall.. I'm the alpha after all." She points out, she smiles and nods while wruffing a bit. "Thank you Mia." Blinking she glances around and looks to Felstride and smirks before grinning at her friend and nods while hopping up onto her paws and chases after the male. "It is a challenge! Which we shall met head one of course!" She calls out to Mia while snickering some.. Its good to have something to take her mind off the recent advents.
Not one to deny that he enjoys being the center of attention when it comes to the she-wolves, Felstride ends his playful whine with a boistrous barking howl before turning on his tail and racing through the grove and into the thicker woods beyond. As before in his last game of chase with Storm, he attempts to lead the two of them on a merry dance through brush and over logs with swift, sudden changes of direction put in for good measure. The feeling of the run echos through his body just as before, the excitement and the thrill, knowing that his body is in motion and the world around him is standing still. A quick look over his shoulder gives him a fair idea of where Storm and Mia' are, and he digs his nails into the soft earth in a neat ninety degree turn, darting off in another direction.
The drum of her paws is rhythmic, and Miakoda's tongue lolls joyfully out of her mouth as she gives chase. The scenery around them, as lovely as it is, seems to be nothing but a blur of color as leaves shift and spring up behind her swift steps, and she leaps low logs with grace before barking happily, eyes narrowed as the air rushes towards them. A chase! A chase! There's nothing quite as exhilarating as a chase! And even though it's not for prey, this does not ruin the fun. If anything, the fun is only amplified because of it. "Yes, run male!" she taunts from behind, grinning broadly. "Fear the mighty wrath and swift speed of fema-ack!" That sudden turn wasn't expected! She goes sliding a foot or so on the leaves as she tries to turn as sharply as he, and she loses ground because of it. But at least she doesn't do anything as embarrassing as .. like, fall.
Storm has no problem following at Fel, a sly grin crossing her maw as she sees where he is going. "Just like back when we would hunt!" She offers to Mia after leaping over a low log and into the damp leaves after them. As Fel turns she grips at the leaves with her claws and turns following after him and doing her best to avoid the other wolf near her because that would just be bad! She snorts some and turns up the speed trying to cut the distance between she and the male once more.
Thinking of himself as prey is amusing in its own right and adds an immensely commical element to the thrill of the chase that Felstride never really noticed before. It puts an interesting twist on things. Laughing silently and grinning that wolfish grin, Fel' is quite pleased to hear Mia' didn't keep up with his first little trick, though he's not surprised that Storm didn't fall for it.. after all, she's the one who tried it on him, first! The male doesn't reply to the she-wolves with words, however, content on issuing half-howls and barks from deep within his chest, warm and rich sounds that echo in the surrounding woods and creates a kind of melody to the steady cadence of twelve drumming paws.
Man! She's going to have to learn that swift-turn trick herself! Or rather .. practice it. It may come in handy! But after a short bit of scrambling, Mia soon gains her footing again. Now at the rear of the the three, she hurries to try to make up for lost ground. She's vocal about it, never quiet with her barks and howls that answer Felstride's, mouth hanging open and eyes gleaming. Well he wasn't lying. He can play, and he can surely run! "Get 'im, Storm!" she says huffily in between breaths.
Storm lets out her own yips and half-howls as she cases after Felstride. She keeps on running, something she's always loved to do as she enjoys feeling the air against her fur and the feeling as if she was almost able to fly.. Well sorta when she gets going and all fore paws are off the ground. The alpha keeps up the chase not about to stop now, and once she's close enough a few nips are offered to the fleeing male's tail. Nothing to harsh though seeing how they are just playing.
Felstride continues to answer the she-wolves and their vocalizations with his own, though when he feels the looming presence of his alpha behind him and feels the light nips at his tail, his barks turn to laughter and he slows his speed considerably and attempts a sideways pounce at Storm. Not only does it give each wolf a bit of time to breath, Felstride beckons with his tail for Mia' to catch up and join in the festivities. After all, what fun is the chase if you can't catch what it is you're chasing?
Miakoda has not given up! Even though she is behind, Mia makes one heck of a cheerleader with her taunts and playful jeers and cheering Storm on as she's the closer one to the prize. "All right!" she says gleefully, ears perking up as she sees Storm "going in for the kill", as it were. Grinning, her run soon turns into a gay bound as the male seems to slow, and the duo steadily becomes closer to her. Aaaand.... BANZAI! With a springing leap, she hurls herself forward with outstretched paws and an open mouth that is loud with laughter. Pounce! Just who is she pouncing for? Felstride of course, but with the close proximity of the both of them, the chance of hitting her mark and not Storm is fifty/fifty.
Storm eyes widen some as she finds herself suddenly pounced on.. What the fudge? She huffs some and goes to push herself back up before she finds herself now nearly hit by Mia. Oh bloody tails what is it tackle the alpha day? "Hey! HIM not ME." She cries out before laughing and nips at Miakoda a few times while trying to get back onto her paws once more.
The male's nifty distraction of the alpha and the over zealous charge of the other she-wolf allows him to neatly skirt the disaster moments before it occurs, and as the wolfs tumble to the ground in a shower of fallen leaves and twigs, he stops, turning to grin widely at them both. His eyes sparkle with the sheer thrill of running and the puppy-like feelings of play, and Felstride decides to brace himself for the inevitable attack against him once the girls get back up on their paws. "Little mix up, eh, my ladies?" He taunts gently, his tail high in the air and his tongue lawling from his muzzle.
Oops. .. Oh well! As Miakoda pounces upon the other female, she lifs her ears in faint puzzlement before snickering and bending down to nip at her ears. "Oh well! I take whatever I can get," she says with a giggle, licking her face and ears with gusto before she climbs off of her and gives her body a brisk shake. "Count yourself lucky, Felstride," she says with a sidelong loko to the male, smirking with mock wickedness. "That pounce was meant for you, and it was a /deadly/ one, male."
Storm snickers and grins at Miakoda. "Oh realllly?" She questions while nipping out at Mia's paws before she goes about moving. The she-wolf shifts up onto her paws giving herself a shake and huffs at Felstride. "Oh please.. Only happened cause you had to /fall/ on me." This offerd with a grin while slipping forward to nip out at the male.
"Oh?" Felstride offers a curious brow perk at Miakoda, wriggling his ears as if to say that next time she attempts to pounce him, he'll be quite ready. He laughs, a warm sound, before lifting a forepaw and batting at Storm's chest fluff in retalliation. Felstride bounds closer, wrapping his paws around the alpha's shoulders in a kind of half-tackling hug before scrambling around her to launch himself at Mia', his paws spread wide in an attempt to tackle her to the ground.
Miakoda does a sort of dancing move as she lifts up her front paws each in turn as Storm nips at them, grinning all the while. As Felstride reaches out to swat at Storm, she raises both head and ears briskly. "You /dare/ touch your paws upon the mighty leader? The great alpha? You shall perish for your devastating mistake! You've soiled the fine fur of our glorious leader! You've -- " Lesson #1: Playfully rant /after/ defeating your playmate! The rest of her words are stifled as she scrambles to get out of the way of his launch, but she only halfway succeeds, as she soon feels his weight on her lower backside and *oomph!* Down she goes. "Fiend!"
Storm squeals out slightly as Felstride grabs hold of her and laughs whlie wiggling about trying to escape his grasp. A few nips are offered back to Felstride and once his after Mia she is scrambling back to her paws to chase after him.. She goes about lauhing as Mia is tackled to the ground, bout time! With Fel's attention on the other she goes to try and tackle him. Har!
"My lady deems me a fiend!" Felstride howls in mock terror, pressing a paw to his chest and throwing back his head in a kind of playful anguish, if it can be said that that is possible. He grins widely at Miakoda, though, and fluffs up her fur with his forepaws as he rolls to his side. That, however, might've been a bit of a mistake, as an audible, "Oomph!!" is issued when Storm fwumps right on his tummy. Ee. Felstride flails for a moment or two, yipping on whining, playfully asking in "wolfish" for the girls to relent. Eventually, a yawn slips from his muzzle and the exertion from their spontaneous playing suddenly catches up with him.
Miakoda laughs and writhes, batting at Felstride once Storm has him subdued, even as he yips on and whines. "Fine, fine," she says after a few more moments of playful batting. "I'll let you be. Especially since your old bones don't seem to be able to take much more of this," she says teasingly. But even as she chides him for being tired, she doesn't exactly jump to her paws either and flops onto her side, enjoying the soft feel of leaves and earth beneath her. A good rest often comes after a playful romp! "I do believe that I could not have stumbled across a more good-natured pack," she comments within a heavy sigh, eyes half-lidding. "Rest."
Storm giggles and clings to the other wolf just incase he tries to kick her off or something. Oh no.. his gona STAY down now that she has hold of him.. Though at the yawn she smirks. "Oy.. Of course when I get the upper paw you have to go and be tired.." She offers with a amused tone. Though she knows he has done a lot of traveling lately. With a yawn she shifts back and settles on her haunches while smirking some. "Go on and get some rest Felstride, you've earned it."
Remaining on his side, the wolf tosses an amused grin to both his companions, though its upside down nature probably makes it look even more comical than he intended. He lets another long yawn slip by him, and gives a warm, half-hearted bat to both. "My ladies, I'm no older than either of you," he sniffs delicately, as if offended by the age remarks, but a wink to both erases that notion, "Besides, it would be greedy of me to rob you of all your energies. I admit defeat, for now, and tonight under the stars I will sleep deeply and soundly. I wish the same for you both." That said, he nuzzles each in turn and rests his head upon the soft earth, breathing in the scent of freshly dug up ground and the warmth of his pack.
He had gone for a time, no one knew just where, but Felstride felt the overwhelming need to return to the glade wherein there lies a sense of companionship and even home. The male had gone for a run, one of the things he took great pride and pleasure in.
