Summary- Johari and Halidari meet up with Felstride and Storm. Seven comes in a little bit later.
The winter is coming along quickly and with it, the snow. Felstride has been spending much of his time close to the den and the pregnant Storm, only venturing off in attempts to hunt to keep his mate's strength up through the cold season. He's out now, heading up the river, his nostrils wide in search of food, though finding nothing on the chill wind except.. the familiar scents of his family and the unfamiliar scents of intruders. His brow furrows, and Felstride continues to follow the wind of the river until he comes to the fork, the chill wind blowing through his fur and making him appear larger in the process.
Storm might be pregnant but that doesn't means she is going to sit around all day and do nothing. Her thick fur is keeping her warm against the cold winds as she pads along a few feet behind Felstride. A ear twitches while a yawn soon escapes her. The scent of prey would be nice but she gets the feeling they are going to need to travel more into the forest to really find anything big enough to feed the pack.
While the adults may be fine with the cold weather, Johari is having a harder time with it. She has her winter coat to protect her against the cold wind but it isn't thick enough to protect her fully. To try and make up for this, she's taken to sticking very close to Halidari's paws in an effort to have some of the wind blocked. So far, it's working fine and Johari could be worse off. Still, whenever she can get to some place warm, the better.
Most of the morning was spent looking for food by the rivers edge. Only managing to catch two fish before the freezing waters became up unbearable to keep sticking her paws into, Hali looked quite displeased but unable to complain. Two wasn't to bad after all, just means one for each of them. Through about half the day, with no further success, she returned with the fish back into the brush where she left her new fox friend, pausing just outside them catching a familiar scent in the wind. Looking around, Hali doesn't see anything yet, but she's not looking to well either. Continuing her task she lays the fish down and feels mildly sorry for having left Johari there in the cold for so long. Curling her tail around the kit, taking a seat, Hali peers outward letting the youngster eat first as she checks on this earlier scent.
Felstride issues a gentle chuff to his mate behind him, a noise that encompasses love, affection, and a subtle warning that something might be amiss at the river. His amber eyes scan across the white expanse and it doesn't take him long to find his daughter and another, smaller body huddling together from the cold. The wolf steps through the snow towards Halidari, dipping his head to touch his nose to her forehead in greeting before his eyes trail down to, of all creatures, a fox kit. "Halidari," he churrs gently, though concerned, "Why are you here so far from the den? It is warmer there."
Storm ears perk as she hears movement and then the chuff from Felstride as well. She chuffs back while sniffing at the passing cold breeze and picks up on her daughter's scent before Fel says her name. The alpha move forward and towards where her daughter is and nuzzles her along with offering a smile. "An your sister is there to bother to." Her gaze turns to the fox kit and she lifts a brow wondering how on earth one so young was born now of all times.
Maybe not weeks, but surely a long time, about a couple of days to be exact, but Seven managed to catch something this time. This whole Winter disaster makes it hard to find food, and now considering the lousy tracker one like Seven can be, getting food at this time of the year is like winning the lottery. The male comes walking slowly, sniffing everywhere, surely he hasn't lost her scent, right? Her scent is there, like always, as it should be, but something else is there, something that makes the wolf nervous.
Oh it's that food again! What did Hali call it again? Fish? Ya that's it. Either way it gets Johari feeling hungry again. Before she digs in, however, she nuzzles against the side of Halidari that she can and says, "Thank you, Hali." With that, Johari begins to eat away at her new meal. However, she only gets one or two bites in before she hears another voice that certainly isn't her friend's. She looks up from her meal and sees a rather large wolf standing right /there/. And suddenly there's another voice and another large wolf standing there. Quickly, Johari scampers under Halidari and pokes her head out nervously. She's still not quite over her fear of wolves, though Hali did help in that matter.
Halidari means nothing against not being at home before the winter season struck but with all the time spent here, she must have forgotten the passing time and she didn't just want to leave Ziven here not to mention the fox she graciously took in. Peering over to her father when he makes himself known with a nose to her forehead, she smiles just a bit through cold lips. "Father.." she manages to break in word. Shuffling her coat of snow, she looks down briefly to the Kit now hiding among her undercoat. "I was just about to return." Nuzzling her mother back, she smiles once more. Speaking over being out here, it is quite worrisome to know her mother has come in such a condition, but she doesn't not question her. Unable to pick up the third arriving scent, Hali remains with those she knows of. "However, I got a bit distracted. I ran into a fox kit who was all alone. With not the heart to leave her in this cold, I thought it best to take her with me." Now was the time to wander how her parents would take to a kit staying with them.
Felstride bends an ear to Storm behind him, nodding at the mention of Larkspur being at the den; that's the last thing they need are both their daughter's running off to who knows where in the middle of the winter. He already has one coronary, he doesn't need a second, or third (and, yet, he has a litter on the way, go figure?). To Halidari, his eyes travel downward and stay focused on his growing daughter with a kind of affectionate seriousness behind them. Their amber is bright, far from their recent dark and foreboding, but he doesn't particularly like the fact that she's got a fox with her, child or no. His ears fold back slightly, but that's all he really shows. "It is well to be concerned for others, daughter, but your own well being should come first, as well as your family's." He glances to Johari, blinks, but says nothing to the fox. "Your mother is with a littler again, and Miakoda is, as well. We will have many, many mouths to feed."
Storm mms faintly as she watches her mate and daughter a few moments, a ear twitching while she lifts her head to look at the child. "Your father is right Halidari.. Are you going to be responsible for this kit when it comes to feeding and looking after her?" Sure this might be a cold sounding question, but its the truth. With two litters on the way there will be much to do with the pack to say the least, the kit will not get everyone's full attention that's for sure.
Hali looks in trouble, Seven recognizes Storm, he would never forget her. As for the other male, he has no idea until he sees how Hali addresses him. Now, this is a bad place for him to be, mom and dad are dangerous if they're together, or so Seven has thought all this time. Somethings are said about the little fox she's protecting, he's surprised about this. Knowing no harm will come to him, which is a stupid thing to think right now considering the Alpha is surely expecting, the male paces closer towards the group, keeping his head lowered and slowly walking to Hali's direction. If the wolf is not stopped, he walks to her direction and leaves the rabbit not far from her paws, if not, he's scared!
Johari may be young but she's old enough to know that what the adults are talking about isn't good news for her. Though none of the older wolves--apparently Mr. and Mrs. Halidari's parents--have said it yet, it sounds to Johari as though she's not welcome here. But that's not good. The young foxgirl couldn't survive out on her own, especially in this weather. She can barely walk in the high snow let alone find some place warm to stay. Then, out of the corner of her eye, Johari spots Seven coming towards them. This starts to scare Johari. Being so surrounded by wolves like this isn't good in her opinion. She quickly rubs up against Halidari's front paw, feeling safe there. Feeling as though talking would be a bad thing to do, Johari stays silent but keeps an eye on the approaching wolf.
Her father speaks of a reminder that hits Hali hard yet she takes it well. Nodding a few times, she frowns getting the feeling that her actions here are not well placed. It's not like she has forgotten about her own self or even those of the pack; she knows that family comes first before all things outside, but she can't just see herself not regretting. She did want she did because it felt right, because it's who she is. Looking to the ground a soft sign escapes from her; what is she going to do now, she cant just leave the poor girl here, but... Glancing back up, Hali nods once more. "I understand father, but I can't go back on my word." Looking to her mother just slightly, "I will." she tells her. It'll be a test for Hali; a test to prove she is no longer a child. Though reality is a harsh thing and her father's word speaks more than just the truth. Many mouths to feed, but the Spring brings promise of returned food; though maybe thats not when he meant. Catching the presence of a third, Hali's ears turn back though her attention does not fall upon it.
Suppressing a sigh, the Alpha male offers his daughter the slightest of nods and even manages a rather genuine smile for her. "Very well, Halidari," Felstride replies, glancing at the frightened Johari, "It is honorable not to go back on your word, but I will warn you that it might be difficult for you to do such a kind thing in such a hard world. The cub can stay, though she will be yours to look after and yours alone." Shackling one so young with such a responsibility hurts him, and Felstride will probably end up making sure that the fox is safe and cared for, but he wants to make sure that his daughter knows what she's getting into. The wolf is about to turn and head for home, when movement and scent greets him and it's not a wolf he knows. Seven is then eyed severely with a stern, unyielding gaze, and the alpha puffs himself up in a silent demand to know who this strange wolf is.
Storm watches her daughter a few moments and lowers her head to nose at her cheek. "It will be hard.. While it is your responsibility you are free to ask me and your father questions." She looks to the kit watching it a few moments, though there is nothing mean about the look, just one that is rather unsure. A faint sigh escapes her and she glances over to her mate and then blinks as she sees Seven watching him a few moment. "Seven.. It has been a while.."
Seven is just a wanderer, a wolf that just happens to be on the wrong place at the wrong time. Hearing now what the problems was about, he first looks at Hali, then down at the kit with a smile. He loves those little creatures, "I'll help if you need anything." One thing, he can't stay on the same place for lots of days, and well, he likes helping. Lowering his head even more, he turns to the Alphas, chuckling softly at Storm, but he doesn't dare to make eye contact, not with the alpha male there, "It's has ma'am... Life wanted to play games with me, been rather busy lately." She's been always been nice to him, "I heard Larkspur came back." And he . . . Didn't help as much as he wanted with that thanks to certain someone who tried to kill him.
Johari keeps her eyes glued to the approaching wolf but still listens in on the talking going on above her. Eventually, she looks back up at Halidari just in time to hear her answer to everyone. At first, Johari is shocked and a bit surprised. But those feelings quickly go away and are replaced with happiness and joy. Unable to control herself, Johari starts to cry tears of joy. She once again nuzzles her friend's front paw before saying quietly, "Thank you, Hali." Johari knows that it might have been hard for her friend to speak up to her parents like that. At least it was always hard for Johari to do so. But still, Hali did just that and Johari couldn't be happier. She doesn't hear the other conversations going on at the moment, she's too busy nuzzling Hali's leg and thinking of how grateful she is to her friend.
Halidari is quite relieved to know that her father hasn't turned down her kind heart towards others. Being able to retain the kit as a friend and care for her is a blessing indeed. Looking down to Johari with a smile she gives a soft nuzzle before peering back up to the last works spoken to her. "Thank you father. I'll do my best." Thats the only thing she can say before he starts off back to the den, but his sudden pause and eyes towards another drawns her concern. Raising a brow, Hali turns towards the gaze of both her mother and father; perking an ear at the sound of Storms voice and the name she says. Seven, here? Spotting him she lets out a soft smile. "I am grateful for your help Seven." Turning down the help of another even when it has been said to be her charge alone, would be quite stupid of her. Listening on, she turns back down to the kit and nuzzles once more. She doesn't say anything, her earlier words should of shown her feelings for the fox.
Felstride flicks an ear toward Storm, keeping his eyes on Seven the whole time. Even though she might know him, Felstride doesn't trust random strangers that help his daughter and RWARprotectivefather! The wolf's eyes flit to all those gathered, his tail tapping against Storm's side gently. Bah
Storm mms faintly as she hears Seven, watching him still. "I see.." A glance is offered to Halidari then back to Seven curiously. "Yes, Larkspur is back and she is safe. I see you have been with my other daughter him?" She questions with a faint smirk. "What has brought you back from your wandering then?"
Felstride has disconnected
Seven is not. . . A real stranger, he knows some things about the Lazuli and well, he's been with Hali for some time, maybe mom and dad don't know this, but yeah. Hali has been a good friend, so Seven is there to keep --- Or to try and keep an eye on her. No fear or anything, the wolf nuzzles Hali lightly, "Don't mention it." After all, he has some experience with little creatures that beg for food, namely his pups. Slowly, the wolf gets on his belly, looking at the kit and smiling, he'll try and talk with her after this, "I... I had an accident, got badly hurt and Hali was there to help me." The male looks back at the female One, he wants to just ask, but it wouldn't be appropriate, "I'd be wandering again, but Winter is dangerous."
The nuzzles from her friend are greatly accepted by the young foxgirl and she returns them back. Right now, there's nowhere Johari would rather be. Feeling love from someone is something Johari has missed ever since her mom died but now Hali is here and everything is ok. Of course, she'll never be able to replace Momma but she's pretty close. Finally, Johari pulls away and asks quietly so as not to disrupt the others, "Who is that? Do you know him? Is he your boyfriend?" Ahh the innocent mind of a kit. However, her questions are soon answered as the wolf in question lays down and gets /very/ close to her. Unsure of whether or not to trust this stranger, Johari shrinks back onto Hali's paw and stay silent. The only answer she gives Seven is a slight nod, indicating she heard him. A friend, huh? Then he cant be all that bad... right?
Ear swiveling at the many voices, then a sudden nuzzle from Seven brings Hali to look at him quite surprised that he'd attempted something like that with her parents feet feet away. Nuzzling him back she nods afterwards to his words. Theres her heart yet again playing the part of kindness and protection. "If was the least I could do for a friend in need." She could of just left him there that day to further his injuries but again what sort of friend would she be. Raising a brow to the little voice beneath her, she blinks at the questions thrown out at her. Lowering her head to the kit she nods gently. "He's name is Seven." Hali says just as quietly looking a bit embarrassed by the last one. " No he is not. He is just a friend." She then looks to Seven before letting out a smile encase he heard her. Turning to her parents moments later she says nothing unsure of what to say really.
Storm ahs faintly, a glance is offered after Felstride as he slips back to the den. The alpha settles to her haunches, even with her thick fur it can be seen that the she-wolf is expecting an if she is showing now it must be a large litter. "I see.. My daughter seems eager to help everyone in need." She chuckles softly and offers a warm smile to Hali.
That kit... Oh yes, Seven heard that, and he almost chokes or laughs at that. Seven turns a bit, but to see the kit, catching sight of Hali's smile as he simply shakes his head. No, friends are ok, it's like asking for more trouble, "She has a noble heart." He replies to Storm, but keeping his gaze on the young female, "Well..." The wolf stands up, looking back at Storm as he lowers his head, "I'm... I need to ask you something Ma'am." He waits there, approval is needed if he'll ask.
Ahh so they are just friends and he isn't her boyfriend. In fact, Johari notices how strange both of the wolves act at the simple question. It seems to be a touchy question so Johari doesn't ask any further. At Seven's words, she looks up at Hali and gives her a warm smile. She sure does have big heart. Just look no further then what Hali did for her! She saved her from a freezing cold and hungry future, or maybe even death. Yes, her friend does indeed have big heart and for that Johari is extremely grateful. She's about to ask another thing on her mind until Seven beats he to it. Ohh this sounds important! Johari quickly starts to listen very intently, not wanting to miss a word the male says.
Halidari has answered the questions honestly, you can't blame her if thats how she feels; knowing that Seven will understand if he too feels the same. However, the next thing that is said catches her full attention. What could he possibly have to ask her mother that would require the pause he has given. Wondering that, she looks to Storm for her answer, patently.
Storm mms softly and nods as she looks to Seven, a ear perking as she watches him curiously before a faint smile is offered. "Alright then.. Ask away Seven." She offers softly pondering what it might be.
Seven has feelings, a lot, but with the. . . Situation(s) with Rysko and Shoshu, the male doesn't feel like showing feelings anymore. But that's not important for the moment, at least that's not the subject they're talking about. The male clears his throat, never drawing his gaze away from Storm, "I have no place to stay during the Winter. I promise I won't be a burden..." That's not actually a question, so here goes nothing, "If it's not much to ask, could I come in here and find shelter if a storm were to hit the lands?" So, just in case something really bad happens.
Awww that's it?! She was expecting something big if he had to pause for Strom to tell him to go ahead and talk. Johari is a little disappointed but beggars cant be choosers. Still, it's not her place to say anything at this time so Johari instead sticks with keeping close to Hali's front paw, finding it to be a nice place if she feels the need to be protected. She'll keep that in mind for another time.
Looking away from her mother and to Seven, she too is a bit disappointed but she also saw it coming. Hali could understand why he would take shelter with the Lazuli; he has friends there not to mention other possible things. Still her silence remains as she listens to the two, fluffing her fur with a slight shake; the cold just about getting to her.
Storm blinks at the question, a bit surprised by it but she should have expected it. "I will have to speak to Felstride about it.. I can't give you a answer until then. But until I do speak with him you can stay here on the lands, just away from the den site. Alright?" Her maw twitches. "If you want to hunt you will have to ask first to make sure the pack has hunted already."
What did you all expect? He's not that kind of rogue that will come one day asking for something inappropriate that involves Hali, though it's awfully tempting. The male nods slowly to the Alpha, looking down and not wasting any second, he starts thinking of places in case Felstride doesn't approve him staying, "Don't worry, I won't be a problem." He's never been one actually, "Thanks." He offers as he again looks at Storm, Waiting.
Hmmm, so if she's been following right, it looks like the big wolf--Felstride apparently--is in charge of Hali's group and Storm was his mate. Ok, then Hali was their daughter and apparently she had a sister somewhere else as well. That sounds right so far. So did that mean that Hali would take over her fathers job one day? Her mom used to tell her stories about how packs and groups usually ran so, if those stories were true, then wouldn't Hali be the next-in-line ruler? What about he sister? When will this happen? Is this even true? So many question and no time to ask them. Oh well, there will always be another time and Johari makes a mental note to ask about it later. She gives a small shiver as she suddenly realizes that she's starting to get colder. Still, not wanting to be a burden, she stays quiet. She'll go when Hali decides to go.
Halidari wasn't expecting much really, but didn't he say one day that he was thinking on joining the pack; or had he changed it mind or was it just simply a thought he had. She shrugs. Should be interesting to have Seven around should her father give permission. Flicking her tail, looking towards home she hmms before turning towards the two around her with a slight change in subject. "Perhaps we should be heading home, Mother..." She would invite Seven along but she knows not of what it would cause. "Before either us us come up with a cold."
Storm mms faintly as she watches Seven before she looks to her daughter and nods while smiling a bit. "Your right." This said while she stretches and then stands. "Take care Seven." The alpha offers as she turns and starts to move off, making sure to wait for Halidari and the fox kit.
Seven is cold too actually, he loves snow, but he has to admit that it gets everywhere and makes you suffer during nights. Though there's not much he can do about it. The wolf stays there, looking at Hali and smiling to her. Well, at least he asked, no harm can be done about that, right? All there is left to do is wait for Felstride to reject or approve, "Take care Ma'am." He offers to the Alpha. He wants to go with Hali, but that might not be a good idea, "I guess I'll see you around." He says as he looks at the young shewolf, "Oh, don't forget the rabbit." It's for her or the kit, whoever needs it more.
Ahh finally, they're going to a warm place. As much as she would like to ask Seven some questions she has, she knows that it'll have to wait or she'll catch a cold. When Hali turns to go, Johari follows close behind her. She looks over her shoulder and gives a quick "Bye!" to Seven and then catches up again with Hali. She pauses at the mention of the rabbit but doesn't say anything. If Hali or Storm wants it, they can go get it but Johari wont get in the way. Instead she focuses her mind on what's in store for her next. She knows that there will be other wolves around but, as long as Hali is with her, she has nothing to worry about.
Halidari nods and when then mention of a rabbit is made, she turns to look back at it. Standing there for a moment she thinks a moment about taking it. He could probably use it more than she could, but it was a gift and how could she decline. Turning back to claim it, she gives Seven one last nod before leaning down and picking it up. "Thank you." is said out the side of her mouth. When she has it, she turns back to Storm and Johari. "Take care." Is the last thing she says before departing toward the den.
