Eclipse - Female Wolfdog
Lykaios - Male Wolf
- Curling Creek -
Eclipse has made her way back towards the Creek after making sure Cyrus was actually resting for once. The hybrid glances one way then another as she makes her way down towards the waters edge, pausing long enough to lean down for a drink. Her tail swaying a few times while her mind wanders over what she and Cyrus spoke up some time ago.
Lykaios has been doing nothing more than slinking around the outskirts of Lazuli for a long time now. Most of his time has been spent well away from the territory. The news of Felstride's death has reached his ears, though, and though he doesn't normally deal well with anything like that, he has made his way back here. He still hasn't wandered far into Lazuli. He has stuck mostly around the stream, around the place where he once spoke with the deceased alpha of Lazuli. Though he was sitting down, when he hears someone approaching, he stands and looks in the direction of the sounds.
Eclipse stretches after the drink and gives herself a shake to get her fur somewhat back in place. A ear flicks forward and her head lifts as she glances to the side, movement was caught but she isn't sure what it is just yet. Sniffing at the passing breeze she doesn't get the smell of cougar so relaxes somewhat and starts to pad towards where the movement caught her attention. It takes a few moments before she catches sight of the wolf and she tilts her head while blinking. She can't recall meeting this one before, though its not like she met everyone in the pack so he may very well be in it for all she knows.
Lykaios remains standing where he is until Eclipse actually comes into sight. Of course, well before that, he realized he didn't know her, and something about her scent made his hackles raise. She's not a wolf, and the sight of her does not change that impression. His less encounter with a dog was... Well, less than friendly. He raises his tail and bares his teeth slightly when the large canine hybrid comes into sight, but he does not attack. Rather, in a tone thinly disguised with a mask of civility, he says, "Hello." The warning is clear. At the first sign of aggression, he won't respond favorably, but at least he does hold off until then.
Eclipse tilts her head as she blinks watching the wolf, at the sigh of aggression she for a moment is unsure what to do. Its been a good while since the had to deal with a wolf that acted like this. Her ears lower along with her head, a faint growl offered back to show she isn't going to just back down if something starts. "Evening.." She states with a thin tone. Her maw twitching as she takes in his scent more, ah.. the little fox lover that gave her such a problem a while ago. A smirk crosses her maw at this.
The sight of the hybrid does not bring any recognition. Regardless, Lykaios has no intention to initiate an attack. Only to defend himself, should it come to that. His self-imposed solitude, which, amusingly, the long-forgotten encounter with Eclipse probably helped to inspire, has again made him realize what his bouts of aggression cost him. Moreover, though, he has no one to protect, this time. He does not growl, but he remains tense. "You are not a member of Lazuli." Neither is he, of course, but that only means that neither of them have rank here.
Eclipse tends to remember ones that want to fight her, specially over some fox that she wasn't even interested in. "Funny.. your not either." She states with a simple tone. "At the moment, I belong here more then you do." While she may not be part of the pack, she was given permission to stay by the late Felstride. "What are you doing here?" She finally questions.
"My-" Lykaios stops speaking abruptly. He has not seen Halidari in months, so... Well, he'll have to alter what he originally intended to stay. "I know wolves here. I have returned to offer my help where it can be used." Kind of. That may be his intention, but truthfully, he is frightened to seek out any of the wolves that may be about, since Hali and the deceased alpha were the only ones to offer him any sort of pleasant welcome. He does not want his intentions to be mistaken in what must be a difficult time for them.
Eclipse ahs faintly at this, her head tilts to the side, a ear twitching as she ponders who he might know in the pack. Not like she knows many outside of Cyrus and Helios at the moment. "If, you know members of the pack then why are you here on the edge hidding?" Its not like she can go and say, sure! They need your help, she can't speak for the pack, nor would she want too at this point.
Lykaios isn't seeking Eclipse's permission. He is merely asserting that, so far as it is actually possible after his extended absense, he has right to be here. As she does. "I'm not hiding. I am just not intruding where I may not be wanted." He has grown up. He may be acting very similar to the way he acted before he left, but his motives for behaving that way are purer, at least.
"I see.." Eclipse says with a simple tone. "I suggest you not linger on the edges for long. The cougars that killed.." She pauses for a moment, a slight frown seen upon her maw. "..Felstride are still around. The pack is on full alert for them an anything else that might pose a danger to the pack."
Lykaios heard that Felstride had been killed. He has not heard who killed the elder male. Cougars? It takes him a moment to remember Velefar, but when he does, he lays his ears back. "I understand... Thank you." Perhaps he will work up his nerve and approach the densite. Soon, maybe. For now, though... He swallows his own agression and pride enough to thank her for the information, which has to mean something.
Eclipse ears perk forward slightly at being thanked, well that's a first. She nod slightly. "Sure.." Is said after a moment, her gaze drifting towards the water then back towards the forest before she looks back towards the wolf. "A word of warning.. The cougars seem to be staying close towards the old farm, through the fields and the outskirts of the forest. I wouldn't suggest wandering there anytime soon." She has been keeping herself close to the pack after being chased by them. "They don't seem to like wolves, or any other canine." See, she can be helpful.
Part of Lykaios really wants to right what he sees as his failure, the last time a member of this pack was threatened by a cougar. He simply nods, though. And though he is still inclined not to turn his back to this canine... He does not particularly want to remain, either. So, after a moment, he says. "Well... You be careful too." Awkward, yes... But he is trying. After speaking, he turns to head to the south. Whatever he intends to do, he is not up for it yet today.
Eclipse mms faintly and nods while she settles back onto her haunches, staying here it seems. "Thanks." She offers with a simple tone. Her gaze follows after the other as she ponders where he might be heading. Not that she's about to ask, while they both didn't get into a fight this time the past still lingers in her mind so she doesn't have a problem with him leaving.
