Halona is in the den not too far away from Braxton worried about him. Wondering how he is doing thinking about what happened feeling like it is all her fault for what happened how could the vixen of been so careless to think that she'd be safe where she was.
Braxton is sleeping soundly. He spent most of the previous day staring at the cieling of his den, trying to ignore the pain. It worked sometimes, sometimes not.
Halona she has not been sleeping well lately too worried about her brother. She has also been crying and affraid that she might have lost her brother just like they lost their parents. "Please be alright." She says softly.
Braxton is going to be okay. He's still in bad shape. He's unsure if Halona knows if he had been awake before. He finally stirs just a little bit.
Halona did seem to notice her brother was awake earlier. She did not say anything knowing that Braxton needs his rest.
Braxton opens his eyes slowl. It's still a bit blurry, but he's feeling considerab;y better than last time he opened his eyes and found himself bloody inside his den with his sister crying over him. And he must say something now: "Oog."
Halona blinks her eyes a little when she hears her brother, "Braxton? How are you doing?" She asks in a worried tone of voice glad that he is awake. "How are you doing?"
"Whoa... wone question at a time!" Braxton says. "Where are you, Halona?"
Halona blinks her eyes a little, "I am right beside you." She says then tries to nuzzle Bradxton.
Braxton looks to his left. "I can't see you... it's still blurry." Braxton says. Then he groans. "This is painful."
Halona sighs as she says, "Do not try to move." She says. "Damn!" She says under her breathe. Feeling worse than before.
"I want to thank you, Halona." Braxton says. "You really saved me out there."
Halona sighs, "I did not do anything. I want to thank you for saving me Braxton. I feel like. I should actually say. I am sorry that you got hurt because of me."
"I couldn't just let you die." Braxton says. "You're my sister. What kind of brother would I be if I just ran?"
Halona sighs, "Not a good brother."
Braxton rolls his head back up to look at the top of his den. "Ever notice how ghastly ugly a den really is? No wonder we spend so much time outside."
Halona nods a little, "Yes I have. That is why I do not stay in one too much myself."
Braxton chuckles. "That and I prefer doing something to lying around." Braxton says. Then he groans. "Still hurts."
Halona giggles a little, "I do not blame you and understand. If only I was not so stupid to think that..." She sighs. "I would be safe where we live this would not have happened. I can not help but blame myself for what happened to you Braxton. I am also sorry about being a man traitor. After what happened. I do not want to be a man traitor any more. I am just glad that you are alright Braxton."
Rye pads along the path looking for his friend. He has plans to see if the fox will teach his pups some foxy type of things. whatever that might be. He sniffs and tracks the trail he's found.. but then he stops and sniffs some again.. Something's not exactly right though. He moves along some more, then calls out. "Braxton? You around here?"
"Listen... there's a difference between being a man-traitor and one who lived among humans." Braxton says. "I believe a man-traitor is one who is no longer among their beloved humans... and would do anything, sacrifice anything to be among them again. Those who would jump at the chance to serve humans."
Halona hears Rye's voice or at least she thinks she does. Then nods to Braxton's words. "I understand." She says not saying anything else putting Rye's voice out of her mind.
Rye moves along some more trying to track the trail more, it seems to head towards a den. "Braxton, you there?" then he catches another scent, is that.. yeah that's his sister. "Halona?" Something happened, or else the area wouldn't have been messed up like it was. He doesn't want to just barge in if they are indeed in there. He still wants to ask the question though.
Braxton hears Rye there and his ears perk up. "Hey, that's Rye!" Braxton says. "I think he'd be able to squeeze in here. Rye! Rye! Can you hear me?!"
Halona turns towards the entrance to the den, "I am in here too!" She calls out. Then turns towards Braxton. "I think he will be able to squeeze in here as well."
Rye hears the voices and then moves over, his tail flicking some as he hears that they don't sound bad the voices so things must be okay. "Braxton, I came to ask..." and that's as far as he gets as he manages to get into the den, he notices Braxton, then looks over at Halona... "What... Happened?" something happened, and he wasn't here to protect his friend.
"It's a long story." Braxton says. "Halona was attacked by a dog, and I tried to fight her off. The battle did not go very well for us. I still can't see, quite. Just everything is very fuzzy right now. I think it has something to do with the man-traitor dog slamming me on the ground on my head so much."
Halona turns to face Braxton showing her one good ear and the left one that appears to have been ripped off. "I tried to help Braxton and was attacked too." She says. "Luckily we did get some help eventually."
Rye blinks... "You.." then stops and processes what must have been a lot of stuff in only one or two statements... "Okay, who was it? What was it's name?" He asks, a little more demanding, a little more edge to the voice that not many would notice except his mates, and probably Braxton who's known him longer than anyone out on the mountain.
Braxton shakes his head slowly and winces. "No. I never got her name. But she was a big dog... I think they call her kind a... German Shepherd? I think that's what she was. Humans always name their slaves such stupid things as such."
Halona turns to face Braxton, "Do not try to move too much. I do not want to see you hurting any more." She says tehn turns back to face Rye. "I did not get her name either."
Rye nods some, them over to the two and sniffs some, seeing if he can catch a scent out of them.. If the dog was that vicious then some of her scent must have been left on them, at least that's the yote's resoning. "What colouring.. and how did you get away? I'm really sorry I wasn't here for you though.
"Wolf... saved our lives." Braxton says. "The wolf looked somewhat young. But when he appeared... the dogs entire attitude changed to that of something friendly. I'll never figure that out. It was not too soon after I lost consciousness. But... as for her coloring..." Braxton describes the dog as best as he can.
Halona nods to Rye, "That sounds about right." She says then adds. "It was after the wolf saved us for some reason the dog was trying to help after what she did to us. I did not want her help after what she did to us."
Rye ponders.. "Probably had a crush on the wolf is what she did, and didn't want to seem as if she was really tying tof anything else." He thinks some.. "I'll have to see if I can find this "dog"" he says with a little more venom than one would hear from the normally very friendly yote. "Do you need anything, food or anything?"
"Food would be good. Halona tells me this dog has been hunting for us... but I don't want her help. She almost killed me." Braxton says a little pointedly.
Halona nods a little, "The food does sound good." She says then adds. "The dog who did this to us threatened to kill me too." She admits. She would offer to help with the food but she does not want to leave Braxton's side and her leg is still a little sore from when Jamie hurt it to slow her down.
Rye nods.. "Okay, I'll make sure I bring you some food.. We're getting enough over at the den, so I'll just make sure I get some over here for you. Do you need some now, or tomorrow fine?" He asks as he looks at the two and really wants to do something to this two-faced dog.
"Whenever is most convenient." Braxton says, then decides to move onto something more happy. "How is your family?"
Halona stays where she is. "I hope your family is doing good." She says sincerely trying to get her mind off of her and Braxton's problem for a while any way.
Rye nods, "I'll get you some, just don't accept from her, though if you can get her name, that would be good." He has a plan formulating, but on the question he smiles some. "Well, the sisters are doing okay. The pups are getting more and more mischevious and daring. I think between the parents, they are going to be a bigger pawful. OOH, that brings me to what I wanted to ask you." he turns to Braxton, "I wanted to see if you could teach my pups some of the foxish things you would teach your own pups." he twitches his tail some
"Of course. I would love to teach them." Braxton says. "They need a little influence from their 'uncle Braxton' now don't they?"
Halona can not help but giggle a little, "What about me? Would they need some influence from their 'aunt Halona' too?"
Rye turns to Halona. He doesn't want to offend her, he's not fully sure what she can add, but well, might as well. "Well, of course, they need all the lessons they can get just so they turn out good." He grins.. "Well, that's all settled.
"Until then, I suppose I should ask you to give them my best for me." Braxton says. "And I'll try to get better faster so I can do this favor for you."
Halona turns to face Rye as she says, "Give them my best for me too. As for my helping. I was only kidding. I do not even know what there is for me to do that will help out. I would like to meet your family sometime."
Rye nods.. "Well, you should feel free to be able to do that. I think you know where we live? it's right where the two rivers come together." He flicks his tail some.
"Well, I'm not going to insult my sister, but... she's roughly in the same boat as your pups." Braxton says.
Halona nods a little, "I know. I said. I was only kidding." She admits feeling bad about it wishing things were better for her.
Rye ponders.. "Well, you never know, She might have something to add, I mean I know a lot about the older two-leggers, but not much at all about the newer bad ones. For better or worse, she's lived with them, she might have something to add on that." he says looking to Braxton, "We really do need to learn more about the enemy just incase they try to invade again."
Braxton visibly shudders and winces. Rue the day the humans come back to these parts again. The last time they had he had nearly been killed, just like he was now. "Perhaps you are right, Rye."
Halona keeps her attention on Braxton and Rye, "I hope that does not happen though. If things were that bad it will not be good when and if they return again."
Rye notices the shudder.. "I know what you've gone through, Braxton, and I know what I've gone through. That's why we need to study them, learn about them, and be prepared to tear them apart if we need to. And part of it might be these dogs that are around here."
"I hope you are right." Braxton says. :I trust you, Rye. I know I can always count on you."
Halona turns to face Rye, "I also hope you are right." She says. "I also hope that..." She pauses for a moment. "I can count on you too." She does not know the coyote all that well but since Rye and Braxton are friends she does trust the coyote.
Rye smiles.. "Have I let you down yet Braxton?" He turns to Halona, "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing." he says as he looks over at the two of the foxes. "I'll work on things, and get it back to .. " he then thinks on something. "Where's Teri?
"She is with Ossian a little ways away. I have been told she and Ossian will be returning soon." Braxton says. "Though that was some time ago."
Halona nods a little, "I remember Ossian was supposed to be coming back. I thought they would have been here by now actually."
Rye nods.. "So.. I want to make sure that she doesn't try to go after that dog though." he says knowing the vixen's potential temper. "But I really would like to see her again as well. Now, who's Ossian again?" he doesn't always have a good memory.
"My son." Braxton says. "He has been away from home for a very long time."
Halona nods a little, "I did not meet him yet." She says. "I do hope you keep Terri away from the dog. I do not want to see her get hurt." She admits. "It is bad enough what happened to my brother and myself."
Rye nods.. "I think I've met him.. havn't I? Well, I can meet him again, that will really be good for you won't it. You'll have your family home.
Braxton smiles. Family is one thing Braxton could really appreciate having around at a time like this.
Halona turns to face Braxton and then turns towards Rye not sure what to say at the moment. So the vixen remains silent waiting to see if Rye has anything else to say not sure if he met Ossian or not.
Rye smiles.. "Well, you all know where I live, and hope that you all know you are invited to visit any time."
"I'll be sure to take that invitation when I get the chance." Braxton says. "Though I also plan to find our friend wolf."
Halona turns to face Rye, "Does that offer go for me as well?" She asks. Then turns towards Braxton. "The wolf that helped us out from that dog?"
Rye nods.. "of course it does. Not sure about the wolf though, I only invite those that I do know." He says, "dont' want strangers knowing where my pups are."
"Oh no... I'd be finding the wolf to properly reward him for what he has done for me." Braxton says. "I don't know his name either."
Halona nods a little, "I do not know his name either." She admits. She then turns towards Rye. "I will not tell any one where your pups are." SHe says sincerely. Then turns back towards Braxton. "I can help you look when you are feeling up to it."
Rye nods.. "well, I think I'll grab you some food and bring it back over here." He smiles and slowly climbs out of the den.
Braxton nods to Rye. "Okay. You do that, and thank you." Braxton says, then winces again. Still in a bit of pain. "I'll just be right here."
Halona turns to face Rye, "I will be right here too." She says to give her brother some company.
Braxton sighs. "You can trust him." Braxton says. "I trust him with my life."
Halona turns to face Braxton, "I know. I do trust him." She says hearing the sigh the vixen does add in a worried voice. "Are you alright?"
Braxton feels himself drifting off a bit. "Yeah... I'm..."
Halona frowns when she notices Braxton is starting to drift off. "You're what?" She asks worriedly.
But it seems Braxton has slipped away into unconsciousness again.
Halona tries to nuzzle Braxton then sighs. She then sits down right beside her brother keeping her ears open to her surroundings while waiting for Rye to return.
Rye comes back down the path and moves the food into the den with him. "I'm back with some food." he says as he looks around to see if they are both still awake.
Braxton doesn't respond. He does not seem to be awake, but it likely to be roused if so stimulated.
Halona turns to face Rye, "Welcome back. I think Braxton slipped out of it." She says worriedly. The vixen then turns towards her brother. "I wish there was something. I could do for him."
Rye looks over.. "He should eat though some.. when did he eat last?"
Halona turns back towards Rye, "I can not remember when he ate last." She admits. "I know he needs to eat and he seems to be awake one moment and asleep another. I am really worried about him."
Rye nods.. "we probably should wake him up so that he can eat some food though." He says as he looks to Halona, then moves over to Braxton and tries to nudge him some on a spot that doesn't looked damaged. "Braxton, wake up, you need to eat."
Braxton groans and opens his eyes and he still can't see very well. But he's not thinking about that. "Oh... Um... did I fall asleep again?"
Halona nods to Braxton as she says, "Yes, you did." She says. "Rye just got back with food."
Rye nods.. "there's some food here, you should eat it, it'll help." he smiles.
Braxton sighs. "Thank you so much." Braxton says. "I wish there was something I could do. I owe you so much."
Halona turns to face Rye, "I also owe you so much for everything you have done for my brother. I would like to thank you for saving his life and everything even bringing the food for him."
Rye shakes his head.. "think nothing of it. It's what friends do." He says as he smiles.. "There's some food for you, too, Halona."
Braxton looks over at Rye. "Well, I suppose I'll try to do something more when I come to visit next." Braxton says. "Umm... I can't roll over. Can you assist me, Halona?"
Halona looks over towards Braxton, "Yes, I can." She says then turns to face Rye. "Thank you again for the food." She says then tries to help Braxton roll over.
Rye smiles.. "You just get better, friend, just get better that's the best gift I could ever get." he then slowly moves out of the den. "I can't wait to have everyone over and active." maybe after he's doens something about that dog though he adds silently.
Braxton hisses as his body is thrown into the painful situation of being turned over. When he is on his belly, he takes a few minutes just to breathe and relieve to pain. "Count on it, Rye." Braxton says. "Thank you, Halona."
Halona blinks her eyes when she hears her brother hissing. It causes the vixen to feel bad wishing it was her that was going through it not her brother. "You're welcome." She says. She then turns to face Rye. "I will make sure he gets better."
Rye hears the hiss and narrows his eyes some, he relaxes that as he turns back to look at the two. "good good, take care." he turns back then narrows again, and wil lhave to find this dog, this one that hurt his friend and do something about it.
Braxton nods. "I'm okay... I'm okay." Braxton says to his friend and his sister. "Tell them all I said 'hi!'" Braxton looks over at Halona. He still needs help.
Halona turns to face Rye, "Alright." She says "See you later." The vixen adds before turning her head towards Braxton again. "Is there anything. I can do for you." She says then turns back to face Rye again. "I hope to see you again soon and can not wait to meet your family."
"Well, I'm not sure if I should try standing this early." Braxton says. "I was wondering if you could bring the food here so we can eat together?"
Halona nods to her brother, "I can do that." She says then heads over towards where the food is and brings it back to Braxton. "I want you to eat first." She says in a soft voice feeling bad.
Braxton shakes his head. "We both have to eat. We're both in no shape to hunt."
Halona nods a little, "That is true. I can eat after you." She says in a soft voice. "That is what I meant."
Braxton sighs. "I don't want you to eat after me. I'd feel bad knowing I'm eating and you're not."
Halona sighs, "Alright. We eat together." SHe says. "We will both eat together."
It is now your pose.
Braxton smiles and then bows his head down to eat. He does so hungrily. This seems to indicate he hasn't actually had anything to eat since being hurt like this.
Halona bows her head to start eating at the same time feeling very hungry herself. She can not even remember the last time she ate.
After what seems like an eternity, Braxton finally eats his fill. He is grateful to Rye for this. But he is grateful to Halona as well for helping him through. "Thank you, Halona."
Halona stops eating feeling stuffed she then turns to face Braxton. "You're welcome. My leg and ear still hurts some." She says. "I wish things were the other way around and that I was hurt worse than you."
"I don't." Braxton says. "Though ths hurts a lot and I wish I was never hurt. I can't wish any pain on you."
Halona nods a little, "I know. I wish you were not hurt either. I would rather be the one suffering instead off you." She says sincerely.
Braxton understands this. "Well. I'm sure we both wish neither of us are hrt."
Halona nods a little, "That is true." She says then says, "I am sorry that Jamie made you call me a man traitor. I did not like it and was hoping you would not say it. It was not worth it."
"It was. It's just words. It would have meant your life the other way." Braxton says. "Weigh them: Loss of your life versus hurting your feelings. All the same. I never wanted to call you a man-traitor."
Halona nods a little, "I was affraid she might have killed me rather you said it or not." She admits. "I know they are just words. But I do not like to see you forced to do something that you do not want to do."
"If it means the well-being of my family is assured, I'd have m fur saved off." Braxton says. "I just don't wish to lose sight of what is important.
Halona nods a little, "Now that I think about it. I probably wouldo have done the same thing if it was your life or the life of your family that was being threatened and it was up to me to say something to save them. I would do anything to make sure they remain that way."
Braxton nods. "See? I know it hurt both of us for me to say you were a main-traitor." Braxton says. "But the way I see it, I had to choose the lesser of two evils."
Halona nods a little, "That is true. Thank you for everything you have done for me." She says. Then adds, "It seems like Rye will be busy if he keeps getting food for his family and us. I owe a lot to him for saving you and helping us out now."
He has friends in high and low places." Braxton says. "You'v emet Yoki and Lucido... yes?"
Halona nods, "Yes, I remember meeting them when you taught me a lesson." She says. "I also met some wolves."
"They are an example of the sort of friendships Rye seeks. The heart thing I told you about." Braxton says. "He found a happy bargain with those hares... a way a predator could actually be happy not killing his prey."
Halona nods a little, "I do like him even though. I do not know him that well. I do think of Rye as a friend myself." The vixen says sincerely. "I wonder if his mates are like that as well? I would like to meet them and his pups."
"I've met his mates. They're as friendly as he is. They were definitely the type I would have befriended even without Rye. Actually... in a way, I did... as I actually met his mates purely by accident." Braxton says.
Halona blinks her eyes, "You met them by accident?" She asks, "How can you meet them purely by accident?"
"I was hunting in their territory, one of his mates... I forget which of the two... called out to me. We struck up a happy conversation..." Braxton smiles then. "And by happy chance the conversation shifted to Rye and I had the opportunity to say I was his friend."
Halona giggles, "I see what you mean that is surprising. Oh yeah I know your mate is Terri and Kaira. There is Ossian I did not meet yet do you have any other kits that I do not know? I am still not used to everything that I have to learn."
"I had a litter that died before we could name them... and then three kits after that: Flicker, my oldest, Ossian, and Kaira." Braxton says. "We're hoping to have one more litter before our last seasons fall on us."
Halona turns to face Braxton, "Flicker is another one I do not know yet. Is Flicker around somewhere?" She asks curiousity getting the better of her. "I do wish you the best on having another litter. I do not think. I am ready for something like that yet especially since I am not wild and my ear might scare off males." She says not trying to start anything even though meant it as a joke.
Braxton shakes his head. "Nah, it's not about looks." Braxton says. "It's more about what you can offer your mate as potential for good young. As for Flicker. She's here and there."
Halona turns to face Braxton and yawns. "I am going to try to get some sleep good night." She says then flops down to get some sleep.
Braxton is sleeping soundly. He spent most of the previous day staring at the cieling of his den, trying to ignore the pain. It worked sometimes, sometimes not.
