Sara smiles and says "hmm another good hunt" she looks down at her kill and
smiles licking at it she drags it off towards the bushes so she can eat it
in peice as she smiles and eats her kjill she keeps alert but remains in a
relaxed state looking like she is not paying attention to anything
Cheveyo is moving quickly and quietly through the area. The dangerous and
large male is not on the hunt, he's just moving through what he's deemed his
own territory.
Sara spots him imediately she looks at him playfully but is autious his speed
makes her think he might not be here to be friendly so she says in a rather
loud voice "hello" to make sure he sees her
"Get out!" comes the abrupt and NOT friendly reply from the son of Chesmu.
"You have a stench about you that is unwelcome in my midst!" The stench of
Amaranth. Amongst those who killed his father.
Sara chuckles and says "I do not stink thank you very much and if you dont
like how I smell then tough luck mr grumpy I mean your as bad as that chesmu
I met that one day" she smiles at him not moving but watching him carefully
she is ready to strike if he comes at her
Cheveyo twitches when she dares to utter his father's name. "You dare say that
name?" Cheveyo says, then advances on the female, his eyes ablaze. "You have
no right to say that name, just like the rest of them! Now who are you and
why are you invading my territory with your stench."
Sara smiles and sticks her tongue out at him and says "I was attacked by a
cougar named chesmu without any reason. now I am sorry he died but have you
ever considered the fact that he was hurting others and whom ever hurt him
was merelytrying to stop the pain from spreading?"
"Do not say that name!" Cheveyo says. No one has the right to say his name
like that. No one! "And keep the Amaranth *lies* to yourself, and stop
bringing your stench to my territory!" He does NOT say he's Chesmu's son or
had anything to do with Chesmu.
Where is he...? He must be nearby. Hahnee's intelligent amber eyes flicker
around as he looks for his brother, whom he has not seen in several days...
who probably hasn't heard what Mother had to say. But Hahnee needn't search
long nor far before he hears his brother's familiar voice. ...and that of a
stranger. This couldn't possibly bode well. Sighing, Hahnee picks up his
pace until he can see a female and Cheveyo. He arrives only just in time to
hear her speak of... their father? Confusion fills his amber eyes for a
moment. But by the time he reaches them, it's gone. "Brother!" he calls,
noting his brother seems... tense. Nothing new. But Cheveyo is certainly
upset. "...what /is/ going on here?" he glances at the female as he comes a
stop several long paces away - out of leaping range should his presence
prompt any undue violence.
Sara snorts and assumes this is chesmu son considering he is so uptight about
her saying chewsmu name and she replies saying "amaranth lies? I am not
apart of the tribe I dont wear a mark so what do I know of them or there
lies? perhaps it is you who are lying to your self? maybe its you who needs
to accept chesmu went insane the poor creature" she spots the other male and
now she nervous she can no possibly take on 2 cougars and if they work
togather she be dead long before a fight egan she begins to put a bit of
pace between her and the brothers as she keeps her composher saying
"brothers eh well I dont mean to be a bother but what was chesmu like to you
both may I ask? I mean I only knew a bad side of him what was he like before
he lost his mind?"
Cheveyo bares his teeth and advances angrily on the female. "You *dare* to
even suggest that my father was--" But then Hahnee arrives, and Cheveyo gets
a feeling he knows why his younger brother is here. Come to check on him for
mother's sake, perhaps? Sighing, the large male sits and turns to Hahnee.
Please don't be "checking up," Hahnee. Please... *please* don't be as weak
as you can be. "What brings you here, Hahnee?"
She seems nervous. Cheveyo has that affect on people. But Hahnee? Hahnee looks
at her coolly, with a detached look he gives to nearly everyone other than
his own other and Cheveyo. She knows about Father? How much does she know?
She's not a member of Amaranth. How could she have known Chesmu? Hahnee's
eyes narrow as he considers the numerous possibilities. He, like his
brother, has little idea as to why their father ended up dead. She's saying
he went mad? "Be silent," he growls softly to the female, forcefully enough
to be threatening, and yet gently enough to suggest he won't get physical.
"Don't presume you know our father. You weren't even a member of Amaranth,"
that's more than Hahnee usually speaks to strangers. It must be his
brother's mood rubbing off on him... which wouldn't be entirely surprising.
Flicking an ear at the female as if to dismiss and ignore her presence
further, he turns his eyes to his brother. My. He certainly calmed down
quickly. At least on the outside. Hahnee knows better than to think Cheveyo is completely calm. "I've seen Mother. I need to talk
to you. It's important." An unusual amount of emotion flickers into his eyes
for a moment before he turns his gaze back to the female and the coolness
returns. "Who are you?"
Sara shakes her head and says "I did not know your father personally but I
knew his fangs quite well you see he had attacked me without much warning
other then a charge and when I did ask other cougars who seemed to know him
they told me he went mad so I am sorry if my facts are not straight but he
did attack me" she notes that one male is more agressive then the other she
replies "forgive my ignorance of who your father was at one time I am sure
he was a great cougar he fought well and left me unconscios from the fight
but I only knew him for the couple of conflicts we had and I had heard he
was insane no I am not from the amaranth but I do know some of its members"
Cheveyo growls and starts to move even closer to the female. "You...so...
much... as... BREATHE another lie about my father I'll strike you down where
you stand!" And again, Hahnee seems to reign him in, he turns to look at his
brother and snaps. "Yeah, what did mother have to say?!"
Hahnee's cold eyes do not leave her face for an instance. It's like he's
trying to see right into her soul. But his expression is cold, even if it
isn't unkind. "They were mistaken. Our father was of very sound mind..."
unless. Unless- Hahnee's already piecing together possibilities in his head.
Mother took them away after two of the cougaresses ended up dead. Murdered.
Did she take them away to protect them? "...do you know a cougaress named
Ama?" he inquires of this female after a moment. However, he only gives his
attention to her long enough for her to answer before looking at his brother
sharply. "Cheveyo," one word, one name, but Hahnee's tone seems to say it
all: you shouldn't attack this cougaress. Of course, if she keeps speaking
of Father that way... "...she spoke of Amaranth. Of our place there. Or
rather, our lack of one." The unreadable expression is a mask for Hahnee's
anger and sorrow. He would've joined her, if he could've. Instead, he felt
betrayed. How could she leave him - both of them - out here? At least Cheveyo wouldn't... betray him.
Sara bows her head and says "well how bout we change the subject your brother
seems to think I do not speak te truth yet I have scars where he stroke me
as for if I know ama I do not recall her name but I might have met her while
paoro was treating my wounds. the amaranth where very kind to me and I do
not see why they would lie but I do not know more then what they told me so
I will not judge. despite what is said about your father I hafta admit it
looks as if he has 2 fine lads of his own. his legacy lives on in you. So
your father is not trully gone as long as you both remember the good times
you know of him" she tilts her head and says "He was a strong cougar I will
admit that and a fierce enemy but other then that Iknow nothing of him"
"I said *be silent!*" Cheveyo says. He turns to his brother. "Typical of the
Amaranth to reject the sons of Chesmu, sons of the cougar he loved! And how
typical because they know that I, Cheveyo, son of Chesmu the last good
Chieftain of the Once-Noble Amaranth, and his lesser brother, Hahnee, know
the truth! They don't want us there because they fear us, brother! For
mother's sake I do *nothing* about this!"
No - this cougaress doesn't deserve to be /attacked/. She's merely a very daft
creature, who is misguided. But she's got Hahnee thinking nonetheless.
Mother took them away. And the only thing Hahnee supposes it could be is
that she - Ama - wanted to get her sons away from... their father? Hahnee
could almost feel his heart breaking all over again as he considers the idea
that Ama may have hidden this from he and his brother... but mostly from
Hahnee. As for Cheveyo... if Cheveyo realizes something's severely amiss -
if he'll even admit it to himself - well... Hahnee won't tell him. Not yet,
anyway. As Cheveyo speaks, Hahnee looks at his brother with understanding
eyes. He may be right. Maybe Chesmu didn't do anything... Maybe everyone is
simply- well, mistaken. Sighing, Hahnee steps closer to his brother, then
looks closely at the female again. "You would do well to listen, miss," he
informs her in his naturally cooing voice, then takes a slow step towards
her - nonthreatening, if he can help it - then
dips his head. Leave it to him to try to smooth things over. "I am Hahnee.
And he is Cheveyo - as he has said. You didn't give us your name..."
Sara smiles and says "I do not reject you but I disagree with you. all I know
of him was a couple of incedence he attacked me and he may have won but I
got in a few good blows of my own and he attascked me without knowing my
fighting ability . a good leader is one who does all he can to avoid a
violent end at least that is my opinion. your brother whom you call your
lesser looks more like the leader type to me see how he remains calm and I
can tell he is thinking about what it is I am saying"
Cheveyo takes another step on Sara and swings a fast and powerful paw. He just
wants to hit her once as a reminder she is to *shut up.* His brother is
thinking about it because he is weak. "Shut your mouth!" Cheveyo yells
angrily. He turns and walks toward his brother. "Remember, brother, it was
cougars who spout lies like her who murdered our father! It is cougars
like... like THAT..." Indicating Sara. "...that is the reason the Amaranth
are a bunch of honorless cowards! They won't even admit they murdered him.
Instead they tell lies about murders. Mother took us from home because they
would murder us, too, brother! You're being *weak,* brother. That is not
what father had in mind for either of us!" Cheveyo walks back towards the
female. "Now, you will leave and take your disgusting lies and Amaranth
stench away from here, or you will regret it."
Now Hahnee does snarl. He gave her fair warning - for her own sake - for if
Hahnee would not strike her, at least Cheveyo would try. And she still
hasn't given them a name. How rude. Gone is any semblance of kindness from
Hahnee's face. As Cheveyo returns, Hahnee looks at his brother closely,
looking wide-eyed. He would listen to his brother. He could trust Cheveyo,
even if Cheveyo wasn't always right. Even so, he was convincing. And Hahnee
didn't want to think poorly of his own father. He takes the criticism with
barely a blink before turning to walk beside his brother, his back to the
cougaress. "...is it a shame I should take after our fair," he nearly
chokes, "mother?" He knows Cheveyo still respects Mother. Sure, Hahnee still
loves her. But... he's not ready to forgive her yet. And not for a long
while. As he pads away, he doesn't spare a glance for the female and, once
he's certain she's out of ear-shot, he whispers to his brother: "She
wouldn't have you striking random cougaresses."
Sara jumps back and avoids the blow saying "I am sara know that I have not
once been aggressive towards either of you and though what I say hurts you
deeply what if I speak the truth a true leader considers all possibilities
all you have done cheveyo is show your claws and fangs like a mindless
brute. you have no leadership in your entire being you reject any thoughts
contrary to your own and try to rule others by force rather then with
thought that is the sign of a poor leader and a weak person. you have
hysical strength but no heart and that is why I think hahneee is the
stronger brother. he stands beside you thinking about both positions but
takes your side because he trust you more. he will one day realize his true
potential" looking over at hahnee she says "do not be sorry for who you are
you are a great cougar and one day you will be a great leader"
Cheveyo growls and is about to hurt the cougaress a little more seriously, but
decides against it because his brother mentioned his mother. "Go. Get out of
my territory! I don't want to see you again. I look after my brother, and I
will protect him from the lies about our father." Cheveyo says, then turns
his back on the cougaress. "I have no aspirations for any leadership,
brother, and neither do you."
Her words bring Hahnee to pause only for a moment. He doesn't turn to face her
as he responds, his voice only just loud enough to hear: "You speak as
though you know me," and maybe she's figured something out, maybe she's
right... but, "Stop. We have warned you. Learn when it is best to remain
silent." He refuses to acknowledge her anymore. He turns his head to look at
his brother, stops to return to Cheveyo's side and brush against his fur.
"Yes, Brother," he responds like a well-trained pet, and, like he has since
their youth, he leans on his brother for support in almost every way. The
only cougar he had ever trusted more was their mother. But she... Hahnee
remains still, his tail curling much like his mother's often does behind
him.
Sara smiles and says "well temper temper perhaps you are like chesmu bu your
brother he is not I bet he is like his mother I bet she was a conderfull
cougress I bet if he believed in himself he could find out the truth and not
live with his head up his ass like you do cheveyo" she then darts off a bit
knowing she probably pissed off cheveyo looking back to see if he follows
her
The only thing that goes after Sara is probably the most unsettling sight she
would ever see, the rage and hatred in his eyes, and yet tempered with a
cold emotionless hell. Eyes of a cougar who, if left unchecked, might result
in a more deadly strike against his enemies than his insane father. They are
the eyes of a deeply hateful being hurt in his youth in the days when
foolish beliefs in trust were held. Eyes of a cold murderer.
"Let's go," Hahnee suppresses a growl as he pads forward a second time. Let
the cougaress dart away. "Leave her. She's nothing but fancy words,
Brother," whispers Hahnee in his silky-smooth peace-maker's voice, a voice
useful to a cougar without strength like his mighty brother. Besides. Her
words weren't even that fancy.
Cheveyo turns and stalks away, seethign as always. It should be no surprise to
Hahnee that Cheveyo is this way. "Hahnee, when did mother last come to see
you?" And why didn't mother come to see him? He doesn't think much into it,
however, thinking perhaps mother was too busy to trek this far north to see
him. He means to some day try to convince her to leave the Amaranth before
they murder her, too.
Sara sees the 2 walking off and shouts to hahnee "I will be watching you
hahnee because you are a great cougar. better then what your brother thinks
of you" she smiles and thinks its going to be fun to get to know the smarter
of the 2 brotthers
Hahnee looks at his brother with those intelligent eyes of his, then answers
smoothly, "After she went back to Amaranth. Then, a little over a week ago,
she came to the fallen log, in the forest where we had been staying... you
weren't there. She wanted to see you too, but the journey was hard on
Mother," he pauses and looks pointedly at his brother, his face unreadable.
"She looked... older, somehow." And he supposed she wasn't a young cougar
when she had her first cubs - himself and Cheveyo - but still... He shakes
the thought way.
"She's older because we are older, brother." Cheveyo says. "And here we are,
out on our own, and that is where a decision must be made." Cheveyo looks at
Hahnee. "I may be stronger than you, and I may be intelligent, but you're
definitely the smarter of us, Hahnee. I *need* you. In the end it will be
you and me and the truth, facing the lies and deceit of a tribe we once
loves, a one=proud tribe of cougars who betrayed us and murdered our father.
It hurts to have left like we did, but mother waned to protect us from them.
They were ready to kill father, why not us?" Cheveyo keeps walking slowly,
making sure his smaller brother stays up with him. "It is our duty, to our
mother and our father, to weed out the ones who murdered father."
Of course. They were young. Hahnee wanted to believe, more than anything, that
his mother would last forever. But she can't. She won't. He just wonders...
but he does wonder too much now. "Yes, Brother," he responds, looking
closely at Cheveyo as he speaks. There's something Hahnee isn't saying.
Something he's afraid to say. But he scarcely lets it show. Telling Cheveyo
that he had met the current chieftain, Kein, would be unwise. So he will
remain silent. And what about Mother? "Mother loves the Amaranth tribe. She
knew we were ready to live on our own, but she immediately returned to them.
We must be careful. We mustn't-" he remembers how she has hidden so much
from him. But he continues, "We mustn't hurt her."
"We won't, Hahnee, I promise. We just..." Cheveyo looks ahead and sighs. "We
just need to bring honor and justice back to the Amaranth. They murdered our
father." Cheveyo finally nears a tree and lies down next to it. "And they
covered their crime with lies of murders he never committed. The Amaranth
mother fell in love with and the Amaranth I see are different. For mother's
sake we must correct this. She loved father. We both know it. Father loved
*us.* We both know it. We can't let his murder or this dishonor stand. I
don't care what this cougaress says about leadership. You and I have no
place leading them. Neither of us seek a Chieftainship of that place. Our
place is not even likely with them. All I want is father's honor restored
and those who destroyed him called to justice. Now tell me, brother...
Hahnee. Tell me you will be by my side!"
As his brother settles down, Hahnee remains standing at a distance, observing
and listening as he so often did. Cheveyo really believes that Mother was
protecting them from... from what? The cougars of Amaranth? Or was there
something more? Something unspoken? Did she take them away because... no.
Chesmu was not mad. He was a good cougar, and a better father. "You're
right," he murmurs. "We are not leaders, my brother." Hahnee is weak.
Cheveyo... Cheveyo is free of that obligation to others outside of his own
family. The smaller brother pads forward, bowing his head so he can look at
his brother. Will those cougars corrupt Mother? Is that why she hid things
from them? Finally, Hahnee purrs softly and butts his head gently against
his brother's before arranging himself next to Cheveyo. "Of course. You are
my brother." Mother left him out here alone. Cheveyo is all he has.

would murder us, too, brother!
