Two-River Fork
___
The river and waterfall motions intersect here, a graceful sight off in the short distance. The rumble of the falls is discernible, as is the glint of the waters. The grounds in between the slope and rivers here are damp and sponge-like; they are covered in full reeds, cattails and small puddle-like ponds. Frogs and toads are in abundance, as are some smaller marsh birds. It dries soon, though, and moves out to catch the sides of the water-forms on the outer edges of the soggy grounds.
___
Characters:
Rockfall, wolf pup, son of Viridian
Hywel, wolf pup, son of Viridian
___
Rockfall romps through shallows at the edge of the river, pouncing after fish ... or at least that's the excuse to splash water everywhere and create quite a ruckus!
Hywel stumbles groggily into the area, his chalky white underbelly covered in the dirt he's been sleeping in. His ears twitch toward Rockfall's commotion, and a good-natured grin lights up his face. Forget stalking and pouncing; Hywel tilts his head back and lets out a battle cry that is part howl and part whoop, then charges toward his brother.
Rockfall was so caught up in his rompings, that he had not noticed his brother's approach, and the sudden, unexpected battlecry gives Rockfall a deer-in-the-headlights effect. Taken by surprise, Hywel's charge easily knocks Rockfall over in the water, but before even trying to get up, Rockwall decides to attempt revenge by slapping his paws hard to try and splash Hywel!
Innocent joy carries Hywel through the head-over-heels tumble that results after he throws himself clumsily at his sibling. He laughs even as he gets soaked up to his shoulders, and Rockfall's splashing is met with a playful growl and a strategic retreat.. straight toward an especially muddy stretch of shoreline. MUDFIGHT.
Rockfall charges back at his brother. It is soooo on! He swipes a forepaw through the mud to sling a mucky glob of it straight at his bro!
Hywel comes to a sudden stop, planting his front paws and letting the weight of his back end drag him around to meet Rockfall head on. He grimaces briefly as the flung mud hits him squarely in the chest. Eager to protect his chest and face, Hywel turns sideways and from this position he flicks his paw and throws a big mudball right back at Rocky.
Two wolf pups, sons of Viridian, have disappeared from reality, replaced by moving blobs of mud! The one who used to be Rockfall takes Hywel's mudball in a foreleg while trying to steady himself on the slippery mud, and the force is enough to knock Rockwall off his paws and onto his back, ensuring no part of his coat is missing its squishy, dark, filthy battle-paint!
The sight of Rockfall's wipeout is too much for the jolly Hywel. With a loud squish, his rump plops down into the muck and the young wolf cracks up completely. His laughter echos off the trees, and in the meantime he's certainly dropped his defenses.
Rockfall is now stealthily camouflaged ... being completely covered in mud, surrounded by mud after all ... and on goes the charge! "AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
His attention snaps back at the sound of Rocky's yell, and Hywel only has time to brace himself before his brother's body slams into him. Hywel bites back a yell of surprise as lands on his own back and goes sliding several feet across the mud-slicked ground. He gets to his paws, though, as quick as may be and capers gracelessly toward his brother in a charge of his own. "AAAAAHHHH!"
Rockfall tries to pin and stay on top of his brother, and ensure he gets a good coating of mud of his own. The two sons of Viridian are thoroughly filthy.
Hywel coughs as mud from Rockfall's fur drips and splatters into his face and mouth. "UGH, CROTH!" he shouts through a mouthful of nastiness. Ok, time to put his brother in his place! Gritting his tiny teeth, Hywel attempts to get as many of his paws as possible under his sibling's soft belly where he proceeds to kick mercilessly.
Rockfall grapples his brother in his paws and rolls with him in the mud. "Gonna get you, Hywel!"
"Nuh-uh!" Hywel disagrees, snickering as he finally breaks away from Rocky's grip. He then dashes away, up the bank and dives behind a fallen log. His copper-colored eyes are soon peering over the top of his improvised fort.
Rockfall tries to climb on top of said fort to terrorise his brother from above, but is so slick from the mud that he cannot get a grip, and his slips off and tumbles into a bunch of rocks. "Owww!" he whines as he bumps his head.
Hywel flails his paws defensively until Rocky slips out of sight. Frowning, he 'umph!'s as he hops on top of the log to look over the other side. "Y'okay, Rocky?" Hywel asks, sniffing at his brother's face with some concern.
Rockfall feins unconsciousness so his brother will think it safe ... and then ... SURPRISE! Rockfall attacks!
Hywel gasps. ROCKFALL IS A LIAR! Certainly caught off his guard, Hywel tumbles down from his perch into the dirt at Rocky's feet. "I thought you was HURT!" he bellows at the top of his lungs as he struggles to regain his footing.
