Having been walking for a few days now, Thrash has all but shook off the frustration he had with the two siblings he met very recently. He's prime real estate after all. Road tripping for ladies is now his new goal. He doesn't need that bratty, stuck up, princess who dismissed him. Unfortunately, his thoughts are a whirl wind and he isn't paying much attention to the territory he strides into. He looks lost in thought, with his eyes distantly staring ahead forward.
Kein cannot be in every place at once. Many times he is lucky. Other times, not so much. He is almost always very observant of his surroundings, though, and he has been stalking after Thrash's scent for some time. The further they get into Amaranth, the greater a sense of urgency Kein feels, but even so, he does not just rush after the youth trespassing through his territory. That would be an excellent way to get himself killed.
Continuing through the territory, Thrash is softly humming under his throat as he goes, lumbering with one heavy step after the other. As he passes along a tree, he leans his weight into it, allowing the ragged bark to give him a good scratch to wear out an itch. With a sniff to the air, he lifts his ears upwards curiously, then pauses dead center in the middle of the woods. The fur along the back of his neck starts to stand up, and he slowly begins to walk in a circle. That sixth sense is buzzing in the back of his head. Something doesn't smell right. He's in another territory.
Yes, he is. And as, just in the distance, Kein catches the sounds of the foreign male defiling one of his trees, he opens his mouth in a nearly silent growl. The youth has barely begun moving again before Kein growls out, "That's far enough." Kein continues approaching the other male slowly. Young, but still large enough to put up quite a fight, and so Kein keeps his guard up, even as he attempts to place himself to the south of Thrash, to prevent the male from moving any further into his territory.
Upon hearing the voice, Thrash whirls himself around, then bends forward in an aggressive crouch, pinning his ears back against his skull. "Sup'?" He calls out, eyes staring back at Kein as his tail slaps from side to side behind him. "Lemmie guess, this is your territory, and you're here to give me a beat down because I wandered too far into it?" He calls out, eyes glowing like two balls of amber, slowly narrowing.
As Kein continues to approach, his own tail whips behind him, and his teeth remain bared. He does not rush at the young male, though. "You've guessed well. I'll leave it up to you, though, how much of your blood must be shed before you leave this land." Certainly, some of Kein's will be shed along with it, but he is confident in his ability to drive this adolescent off.
"Yeah, well, usually I like to know a guy's name before I take 'em out on a date." Thrash says smartly to the bigger cougar, sizing him up, and taking a peek at the number of scars he wears. Oh boy. This won't be too pretty. "So, that's it? You're just gonna pound my face in because I accidentally walked too far into your lands? I can always just turn around, and head back. No harm, no foul, right?" As he continues to stare at the larger cougar, he catches sight of the markings along his shoulder. "Huh.. now why does that look familiar for."
Kein growls openly in response to the boy's smart mouth. He completely ignores the reference to his shoulder. For all Kein knows, Thrash could have met every member of Amaranth in the past, since all of them are free to leave these lands at will. "If you're going to turn back, I suggest you do so now. I won't tell you again." Kein is not in the habit of attacking others with such minimal provocation as trespassing, though he would be well within his rights to do so. He is also not in the habit of having to repeat himself, though.
It's not that Thrash is suicidal by any means, he just doesn't seem to have very much in the wary of smarts. "So, that's just it? You're going to get into my face, threaten to beat me up, and not even ask who I am? Alright then." He says with a snap of his tail, before he turns around and starts to head off with a loud yawn in his throat. As he passes across the threshold of the territory, just past the border, he turns, and sits down, staring right back into the Amaranth.
"Who you are makes no difference to me. You are not welcome here." Kein follows after Thrash, though not so close that he could attack or be attacked with little warning. He does not, however, hesitate to walk right up to his nearest scent marking, the nearest scratched tree, which puts him a fair bit closer to the male who makes no effort to go far from the border. "I trust you are smart enough to guess that you would not get off so easily, should you cross my border again." Well, Kein says he trusts that Thrash knows that, but clearly he doesn't, since he feels compelled to issue that warning.
"Not really, I'm pretty stupid to be honest." Thrash says with a broad grin upon his face as he hitches a brow upwards in a daring manner. "Sides', I'm starting to figure out who you may be. I bet you're 'daddy'. You got Cael's attitude alright." He says with a loud snort, his smirk rising across his boxy muzzle. "You know I let you off easy back there." He says with a chuckle in his throat, rocking his shoulders back, and forth as if to loosen them up.
"The only reason that your blood is not even now soaking the ground is because this place is meaningful to my tribe. Make no mistake about who got let off easy." Kein can trade threats with the best of them. He was trained by a cougar much more vicious than any Thrash has likely know. His father aside, Malak and Revan make Thrash look like a mere cub. The primary difference it that, to Kein, this is no game, and he takes no joy in issuing his threat. "Since you know my oldest son, I am willing to bet you already know that."
"Oh yeah, I do, I had a good time kicking his ass when he attacked me because I hooked up with your daughter." OH SNAP SON. He went there! Thrash is being bold this morning it seems. "But, don't worry about it, she dumped me the next day because she would rather go 'find something' instead of eat the breakfast I worked hard to get her. But, now I know where they got their stunning personalities from." He says with a whip like manner of his tail. "So, yeah, I'm definitely leaving, your entire family is crazy, rude, and just plain not enjoyable to be around. See you later." Pause. "Not." Very mature. He rises up to his paws quickly, and takes a few steps backwards, his body language coiled, almost as if waiting for the large male to attack.
There can be only one daughter that Thrash means. Maul, the one he sent Cael out to look after. The one who... When Kein moves, now, it is with none of the warning that any of his earlier attacks might have had. Thrash has barely even finished speaking when Kein leaps forward, aiming to knock the boy's feet out from under him. Rude? Yes, he's rude, but this boy has no room to talk. Even now, the Amaranth chieftain has no intention toward fatally harming Thrash. Oh, he would love to taste Thrash's blood, feel flesh give way to his claws, but he intends to hold himself back. Once, that is, he has eliminated any threat the adolescent cougar may pose, or else once he is eliminated, himself, as a threat.
As Thrash continues to back up, he scrambles away just in time to avoid the wrath of Kein as he comes flying forward. He can feel the hot breath of the chieftain so close to his face, and he is starting to wonder if this was a good idea of not. "Woah now!" He calls out as he practically scoots on his backend. "You crossed your little border, big boy, I don't have to hold back." He says, trying to leap off to one side, to put some more distance between them.
"The way I see it, you crossed my border as soon as you laid a paw on one of my children." For any reason. Certainly, had Maul come to him and begged his approval of Thrash... Well, he still probably wouldn't like the boy, but this fight might not be happening. If Cael had been the one to come to him, it might be happening much the same way it is now. Any way about it, Kein feels perfectly justified. Much of Kein's time is spent turning, to avoid showing his back to the young male, and so he cannot advance quickly enough to keep Thrash from gaining some distance, but it does keep him from being fully vulnerable.
"Hey man, Cael attacked /me/ first. I had to lay the beat down on him after he did exactly what you're doing, freaking out for no reason." Thrash says as he continues to back away, keeping his throat protected, and his body taut. "Sides', he's OK. We only rough housed, I didn't even put a mark on him." He says with a laugh, practically amused at the situation, despite the fact he knows he may very well die here. "I actually like the guy, we're practically brothers now." He says, wildly amused.
Kein could continue engaging in a verbal spar with this youth, but Kein's skill in fighting is more physical than verbal in nature, and he'll simply feel better if he puts this child in his place before making it perfectly clear that he wants Thrash to be no where near any of his children. It hardly even occurs to Kein to say anything before he leaps forward again, low to the ground even once his legs leave it to carry him closer to the younger male, mouth open as he snaps at one of the youth's legs, attempting to put the boy on his back.
It doesn't appear that Thrash is willing to get any closer to Kein than he has to. Call him chicken, but he's continuing to back up, and zag off to one side when he can. When Kein leaps out once more, he dives off to one side, skids a few feet, then starts taking off in a quick run. Too close! Too close! "You know, -dad-, if I say I'm sorry, will it be OK?" He calls out, leaping for a tree, and starts scrambling up it as quick as he possibly can, digging his claws into the bark, and hefting his weight up.
The boy has more survival sense than Kein would have first assumed. Though he does his best to catch the retreating male, after missing again, once he spots Thrash climbing a tree, just up ahead, he skids to a stop many feet away. There is no way for Kein to get the upper paw so long as Thrash is in that tree, and the older male knows this. "It won't be okay unless I never see you near any of my children again. /Especially/ Maul. I promise, if I do, no tree will save you." The boy would certainly fall asleep eventually, or else have to come down for food, and there is a benefit to being a member of a tribe, to having allowed his sons to stay in the area, as opposed to being alone. Kein truly intends to fulfill his promise if Thrash makes him, if for no other reason than that Thrash himself admitted that his youngest daughter apparently wanted nothing to do with the boy.
"I think that may be -her- decision, big guy!" Thrash hollers down from his perch in the tree as he climbs onto a thick branch which can support his weight. Staring down at him, he looks quite amused. "I like her, a lot, and I plan on seeing her again soon as she finishes her quest. Even if she dumped me." He says as he lolls his tongue out a bit in a playful manner, before working his tongue across his muzzle. Grinning down towards him, he wiggles himself a bit. "Sides', I'm a nice guy, you should get to know me, so.. take a seat, let's talk. I can't very well call you Dad if I don't know all about yah."
Kein is the one backing up as Thrash ventures out onto a branch. "As soon as she's finished her quest, she will be returning to Amaranth, and I've made it perfectly clear about your lack of welcome, beyond our borders." Kein makes a lot of assumptions about his youngest daughter. He always has. And even if Maul does have some superficial interest in some male... It can't be good for her. She remains far too young, and this male... "If I were your dad, you'd have learned some respect a long time ago. For your benefit, I'll tell you once more. Stay. Away. From. My. Family." And that's all the more Kein has to say about that, as he, again, backs up a few steps.
"Maybe she and I will just run away together then, have a bunch of cute kittens, and start our own clan." Thrash calls back down to him with a snort on his face as he wags his tail about, letting it dangle just past the branch. "She likes me, a lot. I like her a lot also, she makes me happy, even if she's a brat at times. So, you'll just have to accept it." He says with a rising grin on his face, smug. "And I know all about respect, except, you kind of went off the deep end the moment you saw me. I do believe -you- were the one being rude first."
"Which explains why she told you to get lost, right?" Kein shakes his head, as he finds himself tempted to leave the tribe now, to go find his daughter and his son. He won't. He knows he won't. What he will do, though, is find some bird to go deliver a message for him. This being as irritating for Kein as it is entertaining for Thrash, the older male does not stick around, though he is cautious as departs, listening to make sure he is not leaving himself open for an attack.
"Well, not really.. actually, we both kinda spat at each other. You see, she had me stay the night with her, so, I did, then she told me to get her food, so.. I did, then when I brought it back, she told me she couldn't eat it, and I got upset and I kinda left, but.. I only planned on just cooling my heels. She's a brat, I told you that earlier." Thrash says with a chuckle as he stares down at Kein, ears perking upwards. "But she makes my heart pound, and she's a great kisser, so, really.. I can't help but go back for more punishment, and if that means even getting beat up by you, then fine, because.. she's worth it." He says as he flops down onto the branch, dangling a paw off it. 'Why don't you get to know me first, before judging me, yeah?"
The longer Thrash talks, the angrier Kein gets. He has only just turned his back on the boy when he is taken by the desire to turn back around, as well as the wish that he could ascend that tree before Thrash could get away. Kein doesn't turn around, but he does call out, behind him, "I know more than enough already. You touched my daughter without my permission. You're lucky enough you still breath, just for that. And no one who would sit there and insult her while speaking to me could possibly be god enough for her." Granted, Kein would certainly find a flaw in ANYONE who had any desire to court his youngest.
"HA! That's where you're wrong, /she/ kissed /me/." Thrash says with a puff of his chest as he gives himself a good shake. "So, can I have your permission to court your daughter? I promise to bring her back before it gets dark." He calls out as he raises a brow upwards. "I don't even know your name by the way!" He says, rising up to his paws once more, balancing on the limb. He takes a few steps forward, then hears a loud crack. ".. Oh... sh--" SNAP! The limb he was walking on suddenly gives way, and he goes flying to the ground with a sprawl of his paws. Cats land on their paws, right? Correct, he lands on his paws, followed by a loud grunt of pain as he topples to the ground. ".. I think I broke my everything." He mutters, squinting his eyes in pain.
Kein turns back to look at the younger male, and the sight causes him some satisfaction. "Remember that feeling, because that's what it will feel like if you ever touch her again." To his credit, Kein does not leap on this opportunity to further teach the boy a lesson, even though it is tempting.
Grunting out, Thrash gets out. "Actually, touching her feels kinda like the opposite." He hefts himself upwards, hobbling now on three legs as he stares down at his front, right paw. It looks a bit crooked. That's not good. "Uh.. Hey... you think you may find it in your heart to help me out? I'll call you Sir, and .. be really respectful." He says hopefully.
As much as he, initially, enjoyed the thought of Thrash being harmed, the sight of his paw causes the Chieftain to wince. Kein may have intended to give Thrash a good thrashing, but he had no intention of actually breaking anything. Nor is he, in any way, capable of "fixing" it, but... After taking a deep breath, he growls out, "Just sit there. I know someone who might be able to help." Kein doesn't actually /want/ to help, but he is driven by that which usually drives him, in these situations. Belief that his mate would tear into him, if she knew he turned his back on a young, injured cougar, regardless of gender or whether the cougar intended to violate their daughter.
Really? He's going to help him? Thrash falters his ears backwards, then calls out. "Ah.. thank you..Sir!" He says, having at least been honest in being formal, and respectful. Settling himself back a bit, he stares at his paw, then gives it a wiggle, wincing as it flares up in pain. "Ow.. ow... hehe... ow.. oh man.. that sucks." He says to himself, squinting his eyes a bit, then turns to hiss at the tree. "Hey, I thought you were on /my/ side, you jerk." The tree merely stares back at him. It's a tree, after all.
It was not really all that long ago when Kein might have pushed onward when he should have just rested. But then, his movements were not the sort of stupid, 'let's see, how much can I make this hurt' movements that Thrash makes. Kein scowls even as he turns to head back into his territory, to try to find the shamaness. He should really just let the boy suffer through, and hopefully starve. If only he could.
