Heyyo, crazy wolf here, and I'd had a thought today and decided I'd toss it out to see what interest there might be in it.
My dog alt, Sarge, is not normally a social creature. However, he recognizes the point of having safety in numbers. In this, a plan submerges that he can attempt to form a special group for 'outcasts' of the canine type; other dogs either abandoned by humans, or who escaped human tyranny.
PACK STRUCTURE-
Alpha Male:
Alpha Female:
Beta Male:
Beta Female:
Member: Full members will obtain this rank in their listing on the group page.
Youth: Puppies will obtain this rank until they are adolescents, at which time they become Members.
Omega: Hybrids keep this rank for 2 months before being allowed to try and prove themselves full members by doing a task as listed below.
HOME TERRITORY-
The Farmhouse and its neighboring barn and other lands have lain dormant ever since the farmer's death. This dog pack would seek to take advantage of these human built structures, turning the barn into a good place to den, and perhaps raiding the farmhouse of things they feel they could use, such as soft blankets for females to have pups on, or pillows for puppies to chew.
RITUALS-
A ritual 'cleansing' of both would be the first matter of order; all human objects used in the 'torture' of animals, be it reins for horses, whips, horse shoes found, dog collars, leashes, muzzles, what have you, would be taken out to the paddock grounds, and buried in the earth as a memorial to what humans so carelessly do to their animals.
Any dogs coming to the pack with collars on that are too tight, or wearing harnesses that they want to be free of, or who are stuck with muzzles, will have those items removed, and they will bury them themselves as a sign of severing their ties to the humans who formerly owned them. However dogs will not be required to remove things if they will not eventually harm the dog, or if they like having said object about them.
ALLIES-
Allies, or 'Ally', is a rank/name given to any member of the pack who is not of a dog species. This status is reserved only for creatures who are small and likely to be found around the farmland, such as cats, waterfowl, rats, or the occasional raccoon or squirrel.
Allies exist under the understanding that they are allowed to have shelter in Pack Lands, to have a cut of any meat/food taken by the pack (if carnivorous) and are welcome to stay, but, they must have a task they can perform in exchange; such as cats helping to keep down the mouse/rat populations, or rats helping to clear out the refuse left behind from kills, or raccoons/squirrels helping the dogs to keep well by picking out ticks and brambles from their fur. Fowl would be expected to provide eggs from time to time for food.
HYBRIDS -
As is shown by 'ss dog' on the MUCK, there are at least a few dog-hybrid mixes.
In the case of Hybrids, such as coydogs or wolfdogs, they will be welcomed into the pack, however they would start at the lowest rank possible. (In wolf society, it is considered 'Omega'.) They would spend three seasons in this rank, and then be given a chance to prove themselves as proper members of the pack by performing some feat at the deciding of the Alpha and Beta; a sort of 'right of passage'.
Most times, this task will be to make a travel into the woodlands where members of the wilder half of their breed exist, and return with an object stolen from within that territory, carrying the scent of the wolf or coyote pack they stole from.
However, given the events that may be going on, they may instead be counted upon to deliver a message to the wolves of a pack, or the coyotes of a pack, either asking for audience from the wolves, or telling the wolves that the dogs wish to offer them audience, so that both species may talk together.
BREEDING RULES-
Breeding will be kept between the Alpha and Beta pairs of the pack. There will always be at most 2 litters in the pack at a time. As dogs can breed any time of year, that is 2 total for a year.
Lesser members of the pack may petition for breeding rights by presenting a bounty of food to the Alphas in exchange. However, the rules for this will be as follows:
BELIEFS-
As the dogs of the pack are likely to be feral creatures released from the hands of humans either through stupidity, cruel intent, or just plain not giving a care, there won't be much in the way of beliefs at first, religious, anyway. One large belief will be prominent though:
In the words of Sarge,
After that, though, I expect that beliefs may start coming about as a mismatch of things everyone believes in the initial pack, and then teaches to the new members who come along either through birth or through induction.
At the moment, all spots except Alpha Male are open, and I welcome anyone and everyone who has a dog character that they want to get active to join, and maybe once we get numbers up we can try for a group.
I know there used to be a Dog Pack before but they appear to have disappeared off the MU*, alas. This would also be a good way for new players that want to play a canine but already have two wolf alts, to play in a pack, and as well would give the hybrids a chance to RP some.
I'm also hoping that this might also give a chance for more wolf-hybrids if, say, a female dog wants to mate with a wolf, or if a female wolf outcast fomr a pack wanted to apply for the Alpha female spot, or whatever.
Feedback is really welcome here on this! Especially from admin and players! Thanks folks for taking the time to read all this.

- Only ONE couple a year may do this
- Prey Population must be high enough to sustain the pack
- It will only be approved if Either the Alpha, or the Beta have turned down their breeding for that year, so that at most only a total of two litters will be present.
EXAMPLE:
Sarge and his mate have a litter, but Beta and his Mate do not. Another couple will be allowed to petition with Sarge to take the Beta's spot for a litter, but it will be based on first come first serve.

As the dogs of the pack are likely to be feral creatures released from the hands of humans either through stupidity, cruel intent, or just plain not giving a care, there won't be much in the way of beliefs at first, religious, anyway. One large belief will be prominent though:
Humans are trouble, humans are bad, and humans are not to be trusted at all.
In the words of Sarge,
"Yes, there are such things as nice humans, this is not to be forgotten, however, there are more often humans in the world who will treat you like nothing more than an object to either do what they want or be rid of you. There are humans who will make slaves of you, who will work you day in and out, until your very body can barely move, and then they give you meager feed, and the next day it starts all over again. The kind human is a rare thing. Most of us would not be here if it was because of a kind human."
After that, though, I expect that beliefs may start coming about as a mismatch of things everyone believes in the initial pack, and then teaches to the new members who come along either through birth or through induction.
