-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was cool this night, the faint light from the moon casting shadows across the landscape. The snow wasn't quite snow anymore, and Rayen was getting used to having soggy paws. She's settled in her 'spot', head settled upon her paws and eyes lazily lidded. She wasn't sleeping, more or less relaxing and listening to the sounds of nature. She had no idea how much tension was taken off her shoulders just by knowing she had a home again; it was nice.
Coinin is also in his spot, but has been resting for the greater part of the day. Now, however, it is time to wake up and see who is about. He lifts his head and glances around the area to see who else is awake. Hopefully, there will be someone who is up and about. Its always rather boring when folks are off hunging or resting. He too has grown rather used to having this group of wolves around him.
The shifting not far away catches her attention and Rayen opens her eyes, two orbs of yellow. Her head lifts and her tail gives one happy thump upon the mushy ground, "Morning sunshine," Ray' chuckles. She stretches out her front legs one by one, jaws opening in a large yawn. Her head is given a shake that moves down to her body and a full pelt shake as she stands, "I thought no one was ever going to get up!"
Coinin didn't really have anything that he needed to accomplish today so as far as he is concerned there is nothing wrong with sleeping in. He offers her a smile and a chuckle, "Well things do get quiet sometimes, but I'm sure that others will be up eventually..." he says with a yawn as he glances around to see if anyone else is up and about.
Dawn is up only in a relative sense. She is an inky blob on one of the bare branches nearby, puffed up against the cold.
Rayen doesn't see the floofy bird just yet in the darkness, her attention focused souly on Coinin as of right now. She gathers herself to her paws and wanders closer to the other, ploping down upon her haunches near him and offer his tail a nip. "Not a big deal, I've just been relaxing honestly. It's nice to not be on the move," Ray' smiles.
Coinin moves his tail out of the way of the nip, and lifts himself to his paws with a smile, "It most certainly is..." he says, and then he remembers the conversation that he had with Lex the other day, and ponders for a moment what would be the easiest way to accomplish the mission that he has in regards to this. Never having done anything like this before he doesn't know where to begin, "Say I have a question for you?"
Rayen nods her head cheerfully before idly picking at the muddy fur under one leg. When Coinin speaks she flicks her ears forwards alertly and hmms, "Oh yeah? And what would that be?" She sits patiently, a faint smile tweeking the corners of her maw.
Coinin isn't exactly sure how smooth this is, but he did promise that he would gather information for Lex and he is going to try as best as he is able, "Well...I was wondering if you had developed any friendships yet in the pack?" Well that is probably the safest way to go. At least he thinks so.
Dawn kind of blends into the night sky, she does. Funny how that works. And she's being quiet, for once; ordinarily that's the first sign you look for.
Rayen giggles faintly, "Well... there is you, you were the first, I've met Niyt and Anoki.. well sort of," she laughs, "Lexus is another, umm... I think that is about it." She finishes, nodding faintly to herself. "I haven't really had the chance to meet everyone just yet, but in time," Ray' smiles.
Coinin has yet to notice the bird, he will most definitely say hello to her when he is able, but for the time being he doesn't know that she is there. He nods his head slowly to Rayen...ok this isn't yielding the results that he wanted exactly. He will try a slightly different approach, "I have a friend..." Ok that is most definitely the way to go, "...and he was wondering something. He was wondering how he would know if someone liked him."
Rayen blinks curiously, "Well I would suppose he should just ask said someone." She shrugs thoughtfully before squinting her eyes quizically, "What are you trying to ask me?" she chuckles faintly. If Rayen didn't know any better, Coinin could possibly be the one tryingto figure out if someone 'liked' him. Ray' tilts her hea dto one side, "Who exactly is this... someone?"
Oh, lord how she struggles to keep quiet. He's asking relationship advice, for goodness' sake! And here's Dawn, the biggest yenta for miles, and she can't say anything or they'll know she's listening in. If birds could sweat...
Coinin nods his head slowly. Ok that is exactly what he told Lex the other day, but Lex is too nervous about asking so he sent Coinin to ask for him, "I can't really say, but I can assure you that it isn't me." And that is true enough. This has absolutely nothing to do with him. He really is on something of a mission of mercy for a friend.
Dawn's missing out on a prime opportunity to embarrass you. She hopes you appreciate it.
Rayen ahhs gently, brows arching, "I see." She hmms gently, head swiveling to peer into the shadows curiously. "Well I would simply tell this friend to just ask," she chuckles. "Sorry I'm not more help, I was never good at things like that," Ray' snickers, her tail thumping the ground idly. She will admit though that Coinin has the gears in her head turning; who exactly was he talking about and who did they want to ask and why.
Coinin does very much appreciate that the bird isn't going to try to embarass him, "Well let me put it like this. If there is someone who liked you and wanted you to know that, how would they best let you know." Ok. Well there it is. Thats about as far as he can take it without actually telling her who he is talking about. He won't betray that confidence.
She thinks about this for a long moment, ears twitching in thought. Well now that it's turned towards her she wonders if she'd change her response. Nope. "I'd rather that someone just tell me I suppose." Ray' nods her head as if to make her point across before a smile breaks her maw, "You know your really making me sit here and think! I don't like not knowing whats going on," she chuckles, squinting her eyes at Coinin comicly.
Coinin returns her smile, well there it is. Lexus is just going to have to tell her if he wants to get anymore information on this topic, "If I could tell you any more I would do it. But I promised that I wouldn't and I can't betray his confidence." Well, ok, it wasn't exactly as smooth as he had originally planned, but he did the best he could, "I'm sure you will figure it all out eventually."
Rayen chuckles, "Its ok, your friend is lucky whomever he is to have a friend like you then." She shifts her weight where she's sitting to get more comfortable before eyeballing him, "What about you Coinin, is there anyone special that you 'like'?" Ray chuckles faintly, jesting with him. She slides down to her belly, flopping over on her side with a happy little sigh.
Coinin hopes he did right by Lex, well at the very least he can't really do any more without outing Lex as the one he is talking about. He shakes his head slowly to Rayen, and offers her a nervous smile. This isn't a topic that he enjoys talking about. He is a very private wolf and its not something that he talks about with many folks, "No. Not that I'm aware of." He, of course, has many friends but nothing that would qualify as a romantic relationship.
She doesn't pry, and any questions she asks are more of a 'open ended' then a 'tell me right now' kind of question. Ray' smiles, "No worries. I'm in the same boat," she comments, an ear twitching. Ray lifts her head up a little before letting it drop to the ground once more, nose twitching.
Coinin is pleased that she doesn't pry. After all he doesn't really have anything to add on that front, "Well I'm sure the situation will resolve itself soon enough." he says. Well at least on her part it will. On his part it might take a bit more time, but thats ok too. He isn't in any major hurry, "By the way...if you don't mind my asking. How old are you?"
Rayen lifts her head to peer at Coinin curiously, "Not as old as I feel I'm sure," she chuckles. She lays her head back down to think over his question, "How old do you think I am?" she questions sincerely curious. She rolls to her belly and peers up at him, tail thumping the ground as a grin begins to itch at the corners of her muzzle. This should be interesting.
Coinin figures that Rayen is at least a few years older than himself. At this point Coinin is only a little over two years old. He scrunches up his face for a moment as he thinks, "I don't know...I would say that perhaps you are probably around 4 or so?" He would guess that perhaps she is just a bit older than Rockfall. At least that is what she seems to be. But he could well be wrong.
Ears flip to the front as she listens to Coinin and chuckles lightly, "Almost, little over three. About to hit that marker though," she comments. She settles her nose down on her front paws, eyes looking up at Coinin curiously. "I'm not an old lady yet though," Ray' giggles.
Ayita walks into the area nodding her head at the group
Coinin hadn't thought that she was an old lady at all. And apparently neither had Lexus, which had apparently caused him no small amount of concern, "I wasn't worried." he said to her. It can be difficult to tell age sometimes, but it seems that he got it right enough. He turns his head toward Ayita when she wanders into the group. He believes she is one of the visitors that has been in the area over the last few days, "Hello."
A fond smile is offered to him before Ayita's arrival and the female lifts her head to regaurd her. Ray' smiles and nods her head back, "Evening," she calls to the other female. She remembers seeing her the other day but couldn't recall if she ever heard her name or not. She falls silent but her mind is still turning over most of hers and Coinin's conversation.
Ayita lays down, resting her head on her paws.
Coinin will have to report all of this back to Lexus. He did manage to get her age, which Lex had seemed curious in knowing, as well as that he will simply have to work up the courage to ask if he wants to go forward. At least his task is done and he can relax a bit now, "So what have the two of you been up to today?" he asks Ayita and Rayen together. They both seem like they have been up and about anyway.
Rayen peers up at Coinin, "Sight seeing. Now that I'm part of the pack I don't feel like I'm intruding when I head deeper into the pack lands." She smiles before glancing curiously over in Ayita's direction as she settles down.
Ayita gazes at Rayen, wondering if she too would be able to join the pack in time. "I mostly slept. I keep having strange dreams."
Coinin nods to both of them. Well it seems that they both had productive sort of days..one was resting and the other was getting to know the lands, both things can definitely be useful, "I'm sorry to hear that, what were your dreams about?" he asks. He has never put too much stock in dreams, but still they can be disturbing at times.
Ayita shivers. "I am running through a strange forrest at night. There seem to be the sound of gunshots all around as smoke gets caught in my throat and lungs. In the distance I see dogs running toward me, foaming at the mouth. Right as one starts to lunge at me I wake up."
Coinin listens to her tell of her dream. He has no point of reference to understand guns, or dogs beyond what he has been told of them, but it does certainly seem like a rather unpleasant dream to say the least, "At least its only a dream. I've never seen a dog my whole life. I haven't run into a single one around this area since I arrived. I'm certain you are safe here."
Rayen listens as Ayita speaks of her dream and frowns gently. She remains there, head on paws, and lets her eyes lid shut halfway. She isn't so much sleeping as she is relaxing and listening.
Ayita has always wondered how much dreams really reflected reality. "Perhaps this is some lost memory of my past. There are large chuncks of my life that are simply blank..."
Coinin lowers himself to the ground rests his head on his paws. He too is growing weary it seems. Which is something since he didn't do all that much today, "I suppose its possible, but I don't put too much stock in dreams. If you are going to remember I'm sure you will in time. If not, then maybe its for the best huh?" he says as he rests.
