Niyt - female wolf
Rayen - female wolf
---Two-River Fork---
Niyt sits atop a small rise, visible among the reeds and low brush. Her head is raised to the wind, ears and nose twitching at the sounds and scents it carries. From time to time her lips move, though whatever she says, it's too quiet to be heard over the sound of the rivers.
Since the other day and her conversation with Lexus Ray' has been somewhat.. bouncey. She really didn't know what was going to happen but she knew she was happy, truely happy, for once. She's sniffing out her neice now, slowly making her way back towards the river fork from a half-enthusiastic hunting trip for a morning snack. Niyt is noticed a distance away and Rayen hesitates for a moment, ears cupping forwards. She takes a few tentative steps in the other females direction, a soft chuff issued in greeting.
That particular sound seems to catch Niyt's attention over all the others on the wind, and the wolf points her head in Rayen's direction with a smile. "Hello," she calls back, and then rises to her feet, making her way down from the hilltop and toward the other wolf.
A warm smile spreads across the females muzzle as Niyt begins to move in her direction. She moves forwards to meet her half way before sliding back on her haunches and waiting quietly. When Niyt is close enough that Rayen can speak comfortabley the female thumps her tail once upon the ground, "Afternoon Niyt. How are you today?"
"I'm doing well," answers Niyt. "It's been a quiet day, so far. Plenty of time to think." She smiles. "And what about you? How have you been?" Not that she can't guess some of that from the other's apparent enthusiasm, mind you, but she still wants to hear what Rayen has to say!
Rayen nods her head, "That is very good to hear." When Niyt asks her how she's doing there's a wide wolfish grin that spreads upon her muzzle and even though Niyt can't see it it is definitely evident in the tone of her words. "Um.. I have actually been extremely well," she answers, her paws shifting as she adjusts her weight, "Things are happening that I definitely did not see coming when I stopped here to find my niece," she chuckles.
Niyt smiles, and nods. "There are often surprises to be had... I'm glad to hear you found some of the good sort!" Her head tilts to the side somewhat, curious.
Rayen nods her head enthusiastically, "Yes I did, some of the great sort." Rayen chuckles lightly as she sighs gently. Niyt's curious expression causes Rayen to blink and ooo. She probably wants to know what she's talking about huh... not that she doesn't already know! *Squinty eyes* "Me and Lex' had a long talk.." she says slowly, the last word ending on a sort of squeek.
Niyt is smiling all along, but it gets brighter as Rayen continues. Oh, yes, she knows what's going on there! All except the conclusion, and if Rayen is so excited about this... well, that certainly does seem like a happy ending, now doesn't it? Niyt grins, and steps forward, aiming a nosebump toward Rayen's cheek if the other will let her. "Oh, I'm glad! He was so worried about it, you know."
Rayen allows it, returning it in kind before the other pulls away and Rayen can't help a happy giggle. "I know. I told him he had no reason to be, he should have just spoke up sooner," Ray' chuckles. She shakes her head but can't wipe that wolfish smile off her face. "Great surprises in deed."
Niyt laughs, and nods. "Oh, yes." She told Lexus much the same, of course, but he was just so nervous... still, it all worked out, now didn't it? With fumblings and hesitation, yes, but it worked out. "It'll be nice to have you around." Sure, in theory Lexus and Rayen could go off and leave Cerulean, but Niyt hasn't gotten the impression that Rayen has strong ties elsewhere - except to that niece of hers - and Lexus certainly has ties here.
Rayen chuckles but nods, "Thankyou Niyt.. It will be nice to finally have a home where I feel I belong.. and someone to belong with.." she beams gently before shrugging, "Now we will just see what the world has left to throw our way. She absently begins to wonder if Lexus ever spoke to Tariro but brushes the thoughts away for now.
Niyt smiles warmly. Home is a wonderful thing, and so is belonging. She nods. "There's always something, but... good or bad, it's better when you don't face it alone." Whether it's with a mate by your side - or family, or simply friends. Niyt's glad for what Rayen and Lexus have found, though there's perhaps a twinge of sadness as she's reminded of her own misses and losses there. Still, this is a good thing, and worth celebrating. "Do you have any plans, or are you just going to see where things go?"
Rayen nods her head in agreement, "You are absolutely correct." She lets the words roll around in her head thoughtfully before blinking and answering Niyt's last question, "No plans. Just going to see where things go I suppose," she chuckles, "Let it happen as it does," she drawls softly.
Nothing wrong with that, from Niyt's perspective. Like the river flowing or the wind blowing, just taking things as they come along. She smiles, and nods. There's a quiet moment, appreciating the good news, before another thought emerges to the surface of her mind. "I haven't seen Catori much lately... how is she doing?"
The older wolfess sighs softly when she mentions her niece and Rayen shakes her head, "I know probably as much as you do. The girl's paws have a mind of their own.. it's hard to tie her down for even a few moments. Though I think she is doing well, I just wish there were more wolves around her own age."
"I understand," says Niyt. "She's not so much older than Anoki, but... well, they're at the age when a few moons make all the difference in the world." Not that Niyt is that much older in years, but they're important years, and she's been pushed into a mature perspective by a great many things as well.
Rayen nods her head thoughtfully, "You definitely nailed that one," she chuckles. "Well Niyt, if you'll excuse me I need to grab some lunch, if you would like me to bring you back a snack?" she asks thoughtfully, head tilting to one side as she regards the wolfess before her.
Niyt laughs, and nods. She remembers that age! "Good hunting," she says to the other, and then gives a little shoulderflick. "If you find yourself with extra, I'm sure it could be put to good use, but don't worry about it otherwise." Blind she may be, but she can still hunt for herself... though not quite in a way most wolves would recognize as hunting. It works, though! "I'll see you later."
Rayen smiles warmly and nods her head, giving the other a gentle nudge to her shoulder as she passes by. "That you will," she chuckles and with that the female is off in the direction of the thickening woods, ears slanted forwards.
