Who:
Althaea, Adol. Wolf
Kurux, Juve. Wolf
Where:
Dense Undergrowth
--------------
Its one of those days where laying about in the snow has become a decent way to pass the time. A two day old kill is scattered in the distance, blood sheeting the snow. Fresh bites have been taken from it, Althaea being the guilty suspect as red laces her lips and paws. The process of grooming now takes place starting with the left paw.
Kurux has been keeping to the outskirts of the clearing. After his last conversation he had felt rather abused, even if that isn't particularly what was intended to happen. Still that was days ago now and he has moved on to other things. He has done a bit of hunting himself. Mostly small things like mice that he could find beneath the snow, but at least its a meal. He will be happier when spring arrives. He sniffs the air. There is another wolf nearby, and he recognizes the scent.
Most her attention on cleaning, Althaea is unaware of others awake in the area that is till she looks up switching paws. The sounds of the woods could be anything and she takes them as that but when scents of the pack intertwine with the ones here she pauses dropping her paw to the ground. Sounding a wuff the adolescent scans the area.
Kurux hears the wuff and moves in that general direction. He calls out with a wuff of his own. He knows that voice. Its definitely one of the members of his pack, and even if it hadn't been he would have still gone over to check it out. Not much interesting has been happening lately and anything out of the ordinary would be worth looking at thats for sure.
Althaea listens, ears twitching at the voice, she smiles. How long has it been since she's heard it? Some time it seems as theres a hit of unfamiliarity to it tone. Waiting for the youngster to near, she pushes herself up to a sit wondering whats up. Blood still tainting her lips, a few licks lash out trying to clear the mess before she's seen.
Kurux soon enough spots Althaea. At least she doens't dislike him for what he looks like. At least she never did before. At least she didn't seem too. In his estimation the whole world is very unfair and it has lead him to something of an 'me against the world' mentality, "Hi." he says. He has certainly grown since the last time that she had seen him, looking now to be much bigger and obviously older. She looks older too...the last time that he saw her was after the whole attack and that was a long time ago now.
If Althaea had disliked anyone for the way they looked or even acted she'd of long ago found herself alone. Brutal certainly wouldn't be here right now and she definitely wouldn't of started a life with him. Family was a different matter of together though and as the young halfbreed comes near she offers a nod to his greeting. "Hello Kurux." It was good to see him and looking well.. older. "How come your not with the pack?"
Kurux gives a quick shake of his head, "I'm feeling like being by myself right now." he says simply enough. Yep. Its good to be by yourself. You can't be bothered if you stay away from the pack. Its not that he doens't want to spend time with them, he does, its just that they make it so difficult sometimes. Ikuna with his better than you aloof attitude and Ahiga with his downright hatred. Tala is different. He actually wants to spend time with her, but can't seem to find the right way to do that.
That question easily reversible, Althaea knew what her answer would be if asked. It was a reasonable answer that would ultimately change her life, it was just finding the right time to express is. Giving a slight nod to her cousin she finds his idea of being by himself a bit skewed. He must be taking a break if he's out here with her. Then again, with his current relationship with the pack she's not really surprised. She's one of the few family members who tolerate his choice in lifestyles. "Things aren't going well I take it." Standing up Thaea moves over to the young wolfdog and noses.
Kurux gives a shrug of his shoulders, things are going pretty much the same as they always have been, "Things are ok." he says. He isn't one to need the sympathy of others. In fact he would just prefer that no one knows how he feels, with the exception of his mother. He can tell her anything, but the others...no way.
Althaea wasn't exactly one for sympthay either but sometimes its needed and Kurux, well.. he often looked like he needed some. The response he gives isn't to believable either. She's seen some of the behavior made toward him and its not right but its not like he's the most kind of pups either. "You know you can trust me right?" Like his mother, she was actually related and not just through association. It was blood they shared and maybe thats why she doesn't hate him. Taking a seat infront of him she says, "As your cousin, I'm here for you." No matter what.
Kurux isn't exactly set up to trust anyone at this point, but in addition to his hunting skills he has developed the ability to lie. He gives her a smile and nods almost shyly. Its an act of course, but he isn't letting on, "Oh of course I know that I can trust you. You are my cousin after all." In reality he trusts his mother and himself, but it never hurts to let people think that they have your trust. He'd sell Althaea in a heartbeat if he thought it would benefit him in some way, at the moment it doesn't.
Althaea certainly knows a lie when she hears one. Grim thought her that much up on the mountain the day he tried ripping her throat out. Watching her cousin, something was off about him. Out of all the time she's known him she's never known him to by shy even a little bit least of all sound like he believes in a thing your saying. "Then why does it feel like you dont? You've got your own agenda, I see that, but not all of us are so cruel-hearted we dont care what happens to you." She just wanted to help and Kurux had the potential to be given such.
Kurux has a story and he is sticking to it, "No I know that you trust me and that I can trust you." he repeats, feinging a bit of hurt that the other wolf didn't believe him, it seems just a bit strange to be doing this, but at least it isn't boring like hanging out at the pack. He doesn't want to alientate her though. He might need her for later on.
Trust him, who said anything about her trusting him. Her trust is more often than not earned even if he was family. Tailing flicking a bit aggitated Thaea's ears splay as she looks to the ground. "Then tell me whats wrong." She looks up, her tone going serious. "The truth Kurux, because if you cant do that for me who can you." His mother sure, but that'll only get him so far.
Kurux decides to give her just a very small piece of the truth, because she asked and because its already common knowledge, "Ahiga hates me." he states simply. Oh yes. He knows that the wolf hates him, and he knows why. One day he will get the chance to give Ahiga what is coming to him, but for now he has to be quiet about it.
Tell her something she doesn't know. It was obvious the two didn't get along. Ahiga despises dogs and anything that had to do with them, even if that meant members of his own pack. After all thats happen, she'd be crazy if she thought him some kind of sudden dog lover. "Ahiga doesn't hate you." Inspite of what she might think she doesn't think he hates anyone. "Your the end product of something thats hurt everyone. Its just taking longer for some of us to accept whats happened." She cant say Ahiga will ever accept Kurux for who he is but he'll either learn to live with it or he wont. Its as simple as that.
