Ikuna (alpha)
Gomati (rogue)
Althaea
Dense Undergrowth
----------------------------------------------
After a meeting with unexpected news, Ikuna makes his way to where the underbrush is dense and certain scents linger strongly. He pauses near the edge of the thickening, lifts his muzzle to give a short howl. Hullo, it says. I'm here, it says.
The female wolf Gomati is laying down on the ground when she hears the howl. She returns the howl of greeting. Then gets up and starts to head in the direction that it was coming from appearing to be a little nervouse.
Ikuna's ears perk, hearing an unfamiliar voice calling back to him. He frowns slightly, a thoughtful expression as he heads toward the sound of the voice, and as he and Gomati approach each other, his gaze flicks to her, looking the female over. His tail is raised slightly, his ears perked erect, but his hackles lay flat - a dominant posture, but not one overtly so.
Though not in the area, Althaea is never far from where she left her companions. Rummaging through the far side of the undergrowth, the young she-wolf catches ear of the howl; a familiar one at that. Jabs from every direction, she makes quick to find an exit to less bothersome surroundings. Hearing a second howl Althaea is hesitant for a moment; she's never really heard Gomati howl before but since it was so close it had to be her right. Climbing out of the foliage, coat in shambles, she barks out.
Gomati sees Ikuna and keeps her tail down seeing the male's posture it is clear that he's the alpha and she places whole body and ears in the submissive pose to show she is not a threat not saying anything yet.
"Hello," Ikuna says, keeping that posture, dominant but not aggressively so, as he looks over the other wolf. "You can relax," he says, offering her a slight smile, then perks an ear to the sound of Althaea's bark. "Are you Gomati?"
High stepping it a few paces, Althaea finds herself wincing to a clump of thorns in a place she'd rather not have then in. Shaking out, vegetation springs into the air but the clump remains. Growling in frustration, 'Thaea takes measures. When finally free of the burden, she makes toward her uncle and Gomati keeping to a reasonable pace as to not reopen any wounds. As she reaches them, Ikuna's posture brings pause, its one she hasn't seen since... well since never. Tail wagging regardless, she smiles. Spotting Gomati, she nods to her turning an ear as Ikuna draws question of the rogues name.
Gomati relaxes some when she hears the male's question. "Yes, I am Gomati. How did you know my name?" The she wolf has not met him before and curiosity is getting the better of her. Which is not always a good thing. Not seeming to notice Althaea or at least not acknowledging it as of yet, she keeps her gaze on the alpha.
"I heard about you," answers Ikuna with a slight smile. He looks back past her to Althaea, and gives her a look of concern. "Althaea," he says, with a dip of his head. "How are you doing? I heard... there was an attack." Gomati is left to wait a moment.
Althaea's last steps carry her just outside the duo where she stands to gives a moments though on her own well being. Quickly giving the area a scan, blue eyes fall upon her uncle. His look of concern is understandable, though would that concern turn into worry upon laying eyes on her wounds? It was an expression she hoped not to see as she moves in closer. Not surprised to hear that her uncle has heard of the attack; Miakoda being gone in all. "Yes, and I'm well, thanks to Mia." She fails to bring up Brutal's attempts since the tree bark just made her sticky.
Gomati looks over towards Althaea then back towards Ikuna. "We were both attacked by a bear. Althaea got attacked first. I found her in the river and got her out. I left to hunt for food and while. I was gone. It was then that it happened to me." She says not knowing how much the alpha knows exactly. "I met Althaea before the bear attack."
Attacks on his pack? Yeah, Ikuna gets concerned. He nods to Althaea's answer to him, then looks back to Gomati and nods again. "I'm glad you're okay," he says, though his gaze goes more to his niece as he says it. "If you need... do you need anything? I can patrol in case it comes back."
Its with a side glance that Althaea looks to Gomati as she spouts out the jest of what happened that day. Certainly there's more to the story than just that but she leaves the blanks empty, sparing her uncle anything he might of heard already. Dropping to her haunches, a look of mild soreness comes over her face, vanishing quickly as stress is removed from the more sensitive areas. Wounded side open to Ikuna, still somewhat green from the herbs, she smiles giving a faint head shake looking to what remains of the buck. "Not right now, but thank you." Him patrolling seemed enough for now.
Gomati remains where she is keeping her attention on the other two wolves. Fixing her attention back on the male she says, "I know Althaea, who are you? If you do not mind my asking." Figuring that he is the alpha even though the female wolf has no idea what his name is.
Ikuna takes another look at Althaea, and frowns. "You should rest," he says, but his tone is gentle, not scolding. He looks back to Gomati, and gives his head a shake, with a slightly rueful expression. "Ah. I'm Ikuna. Ute's Alpha."
Althaea never did give a name to accompany the conversation she had with Gomati about her uncle. Whether she meant for that to happen or not, she remains quiet leaving Ikuna to introduce himself to her in whatever way he saw fit. Insisting she rest would cause the she-wolf to pout if not for the sake of it being true, nodding to her uncle and forcing herself into a lay. Though tired of taking it easy, she's no place to be right now so she just listens to the two.
Gomati keeps her attention on Ikuna. "It is nice to meet you. I do not know what all you heard about me. I left my pack and do not want to go back there." She says then pauses for a moment. "I had been on my own since then. Since the bear attack and talking to Althaea, I've been thinking about joining a pack again if it is possible. Do you think that I could stay around Ikuna? I know it is up to you. I will accept your decision either way it goes." Not knowing what to expect.
"Only a little," Ikuna answers Gomati, then nods. "I've heard you've been a help to Althaea, here." He smiles slightly, then tilts his head, considering. This wolf is the first to ask to join Ute since Ikuna's reordering of the pack. The test case, as it were. The leading edge. Decision time. "Yes," he says. "You may stay here, with Althaea, for now. You are a guest of Ute. When the pack meets next... come with Althaea to the meeting. We will introduce you to the others, and then we will discuss what comes next."
Rolling her hind legs out beside her and putting her head on her forepaws, Althaea looks from wolf to wolf as each takes their turn speaking. Pausing a few moments on Gomati, losing count the number of times she's heard her tale, she soon turns to Ikuna once he starts to speak. Help has gone both ways. She gave a hare, Goma pulled her from the river, she ran off the bear. So many things have lead up to this moment. Whatever decision is made she'd accept simply as that. When it is made, 'thaea lifts her head from her paws and is actually a little surprised to hear he was allowing her to stay so quickly, not that she doubted he would. The next meeting would be the final say for Goma.. perhaps her joining will present a few others aswell.
Gomati still has her attention on the alpha. "Thank you." She says sincerely. "I appreciate you letting me stay as a guest for now." Then thinks about it for a moment and adds. "Althaea did save me from the bear when I was being attacked and we met due to me not hunting well and she gave me a rabbit." The she-wolf stretches out while letting out a soft yawn feeling a little sleepy.
Ute is welcoming. Ikuna, it seems, intends to pay more than lip service to that - though in some ways, he's making Gomati Althaea's responsibility for now. The two females have been helping each other; let them continue to do so. For now, the newcomer will be a guest, and if there's to be more... well, it will be decided later. Ikuna smiles, and nods. "I will wish to speak more with you, but... that can wait. You seem tired."
Time will tell all things and this Althaea has witnessed many times throughout her life. Not all things have been pleasant but whats life without a few disappointments. Placing her head back down upon her paws, she continues to give watch even as things appear to be winding down with signs of Gomati giving way to sleep. "Thank you for coming, Ikuna, and for offering your help." Her words are by no means referencing to being alone but neither does she wish to hold him up either.
Gomati offers Ikuna a slight nod, "I will talk with you soon and thank you again. I will not keep you." She says then lays down. Before she falls asleep the she-wolf says, "Goodnight."
Ikuna glances back to Althaea again, and smiles to her - though there's also concern in his expression. "I'll be by again," he promises. "I'm going to patrol here more. At least until we're sure the bear is gone." He looks back to Gomati, and nods. "Goodnight," he says, and glances to Althaea before repeating himself. "Goodnight." With that, he pads on, letting the females get some rest and checking Ute's borders once more.
"Goodnight." This time it is said by Althaea whose passing gaze falls over Gomati who is already asleep, then her uncle as he bid his farewell. "Be careful." She calls out before he can get to far.
