Skelaghe is not entirely without sleep. She caught a nap when Abel agreed to watch over the den for a while. Since before the sun even rose, though, she has been watching. She refused to create any sort of prison for any newcomers to Ute, but that is exactly what she is doing for her unrepentant son. For how long? Well... She can't be certain. Eventually, she will have to turn her attention to Vincent, because she will /not/ have him so near her territory. He should have known better.
Rowtag hasn't slept well. Though it might've seemed like he would've given how quickly the pup had fallen asleep the previous day, he had woken up many more times than he usually did throughout the night, visually pleading for an escape. The den /was/ much like a prison to him, and the little hybrid was nothing short of miserable. Frequently, he would cast glares in the direction of the various caregivers, but mostly when it was his own mother laying there, keeping him prisoner.
Skelaghe is well aware of when her son is awake and when he isn't, and when he is more obvious in his displeasure. She does not allow it to sway her, though. He truly brought this imprisonment on himself. When the pup glares at her, she looks back with a mixture of sorrow and resolve. She may have lost his trust... But he has done nothing in the past day but make it clear that he is not worthy of her trust, either.
At the Lone Crabapple Tree, Wyanet howls.
Now is the time that the pup wakes up for good. Ready for a new day, though he's quite sure that it won't be the best. In fact, it'd probably be one of the worst. Knowing that he wanted to see his father again is nagging at his mind, and he wants to be able to at least /go/ outside of the den, even if that means one of the adults standing guard over him the entire time. Preferably Wyanet or perhaps even Abel; someone who was easier to escape from than Skelaghe. Luck hasn't been on his side however, and he doesn't expect to even be let out. With a wrinkle of his muzzle, a growl is how he greets the mother-wolf as he stands up reluctantly, and stretches his growing legs.
Wyanet has arrived.
Skelaghe took enough abuse from her son last night, She has no intention of doing the same today. "I am not going to make you speak to me, puppy. Ignore me, if you wish. But if you are going to address me, you will do so with respect. Do you understand?" Skelaghe is not, generally, one to lord her dominance over anyone, even her children, but if pushed to it... Besides, Rowtag is supposed to be the one being punished. Not Skelaghe, and certainly not any other member of the pack.
"No." He says defiantly, and sits himself right back down, yawning and appearing to be quite disinterested with any conversation to or from his mother. He can ignore her just fine, but he certainly won't show respect to her. Not after how she punished him for just wanting to see his father again. The pup can't seem to understand what he's done wrong, aside from openly acting out against her. That, he can understand. Still, he's a stubborn young male, and it can't really be helped.
Her son's response causes Skelaghe to sigh. Oh, how she wants no role in breaking his will, but when his will is so destructive... "I will not warn you again, Rowtag." That's all the more she says. He can speak respectfully, or he can suffer in silence. She'll accept either one without punishing him further.
The warning from Skelaghe is once again lost on her son. He simply growls at her once more, standing back up and walking over in her direction slowly. The stupid little guy seems to think that he /is/ intimidating, when he really is not. With his eyes glaring up, his head is lowered and he peers out the entrance of the den. "Let me out."
Kezu has arrived.
One day, he'll learn. Hopefully, before the spark of fire that animates him is wholly extinguished. It is without further warning that Skelaghe lowers her head to nip her son's nose. As she does so, she remains cautious about Rowtag becoming violent, as he did last night. For a pup who demands the regular submission of his brother, Rowtag certainly doesn't seem to understand how the pecking order works, at least, not very well.
It's true. Rowtag is quite hypocritcal in how he views the pack. While he has a natural 'right' to be dominant over his younger siblings and goes through semi-violent lengths, even for just a pup to reach that goal, if someone goes against what he wants.. well! They have no rights! Not even his own mother. This is how his selfish mind works at the moment, and one day, he will get it. For now though, he's utterly determined to satisfy his own urge to see his father again, no matter the consequences. At least he's got spirit. With Skelaghe's nip at his nose, he lets out a yelp, and then the fur on his back raises about half way. "Let me /out/!" he yells, his tail curling inward and his ears pinning back as his only half-display of submission.
Thump... thump... thump. The heavy steps of an oversized wolf starts for the den. And the words 'Let me OUT!' Prep a quickened pace! "Hey, is everything alright in..." Kezu only gets halfway into the den. His stomach... rather wedged and stuck in the entrance...
"I am going to give you to the count of three to put some respect into your tone, puppy, unless you'd like another. One." That is all the further she gets, as, rather suddenly, she has a wolf almost-slamming into her back. He probably would have, if not for him getting stuck in the narrow den opening. In response, she spins around to face him. Kezu. It takes every ounce of her will to not bare her teeth at him. Member of the pack or not, it is seldom wise to come barreling into a mother's den.
With his own teeth bared as soon as she begins to count down for another punishment, the startled pup's ears perk forward at the sight and sound of another wolf plunged between the entrance of the den. Great. /Now/ how is he going to get out of here? With an angry bark cast in Kezu's direction, his overgrown paws carry him back over to his own corner, more than ready to wallow in his disappointment for yet another day.
Blink. Blink. Kezu looks at the two angry individuals, trying to worm his way forward, taking a deep huff of breath, before straaaaaaining backwards, pushing his fur forward, making him seem like a giant ball of fur, puffing forward. "Ngh. Alp. Please." He closes one eye, looking like a wolf reared in a corner.
Had she cause him any other time, Skelaghe might have been amused, and more sympathetic than she is now. As it is... Wrinkling her nose up, she keeps her words to herself. It takes more willpoer than it ought for her to remain outwardly calm, as she lowers her head to push against Kezu's chest, all the while listening behind her. She does not like disciplining her son, and Kezu interuptting her in the middle of it... How is she to not feel as though she has, once more, lost the favour of her beloved spirits and deity? Between Helaku's departure, Vincent's arrival, and all of the tiny little irritations that would never get to her, normally... The pack /is/ falling apart, despite her best efforts.
Perhaps Kezu's arrival is a good thing. The conniving little mind of Rowtag begins to believe that it is, keeping it to himself but thinking that maybe if mother got to distracted by the other, much larger wolf.. that he could make a break and escape the den? Glaring over at the two, his eyes glint with some more anger as he curls himself up into a small ball shape, and he vocalizes another growl.
Hahtalekin has arrived.
Making her way back towards the den is Wyanet, having been out on a bit of a walk last night, a trek out towards the foggy paths to sniff about, and catch a few scents that she needed to memorize. One, in particular. As she spies Kezu wedged halfway into the den, she widens her eyes a bit, then makes her way over towards him. "What the hell is going on? Kezu, are you stuck?" Perhaps Wya's voice can be heard muffled on the other side. Leaning over, she grabs Kezu by the tail, then starts to tug backwards, looking to yank him out.
Tick... Tick... Tick... several moments of pushing, Kezu sucking in his gut as far as he can, huffing, as he yelps from the grip of his tail. And THRUM, With a spray of dirt flying backwards, Kezu barrels from the den entrance, rolling heels over head as he rolls twice, then hends up on his back, huffing, a circle of brown and green around his midriff... looking up for a moment with his eyes... before laying his head on the ground. Ugh...
Skelaghe is distracted, yes, but Rowtag is not far from her mind. And Kezu finally gets loose, Skelaghe takes the same hole, though her body does nothing to fill it. That increasingly familiar companion, anger, is with her as she stares out at Kezu and, behind him, Wyanet. And perhaps that is her problem. If she has lost the favour of her spiritual entities, perhaps it is only because she has allowed herself to give in too quickly to anger, so she forces herself to take a deep breath before she says anything. Still, she shows her teeth as she says, "I have not intruded in your affairs, except for where I have been invited. I would /appreciate/ the same courtesy." But then, why would Kezu bother to give it to her? He has fully admitted that he does not respect the position of alpha. Oh, anger.
He always misses the good parts. He's not terribly far behind Wyanet, but far enough to only know she's passed this way by scent, and alas too slow to catch the humorous sight of his brother taking a royal tumble. He is present, however, to catch the show of anger from Skelaghe, though he's well back enough that the words go unheard. His approach is slow, almost hesitantly slow - the sight of an angry mother in a den is hardly encouragement to run up and see what's happening.
Seeing Kezu sprawled out the way he was would normally make the puppy laugh at his misfortune. It'd be a rather cruel, mocking laugh too. Not today. Not with how angry he is. Instead, he snarls at the older male, licking his lips in nervousness as he doesn't quiet know what his reaction will be. Though, that's what his fleet feet are for, he supposes. With a jump back up, Rowtag dodges to the side, and stares up at his mother, who is, of course, blocking the entrance. Taking in a deep breath, it takes all the little amount of willpower that the young one has to control himself. "Let me out!" He yells, and lets out a whimper, as if giving up on his anger for the moment. "/Please/! I won't go see dad, I promise.. I just want out for a minute!"
Staring down at Kezu for a moment, Wyanet lets out a loud huff, before turning her gaze over towards Skelaghe. "I will be taking the two of them out on a perimeter watch for the next few days, so that you can have your privacy with your pups, Alpha." The wolfess says as she sways her tail back, and forth behind her. "We won't be in your way, promise." She says, glancing down to the large male for a moment, before clearing her throat. "Right, Kezu?" She asks with a stern voice, before looking over her shoulder towards Haht, offering him a brief smile upon her painted muzzle.
Huff. With a slow roll, Kezu moves to his paws, peering over his shoulders torwards Skelaghe. "Forgive me for seeing if everything was alright. When I was that age..." And he motions to Rowtag. "My brother and I could take down an older wolf." His shoulders roll at that, huffing as he turns, and sits, nodding to Wyanet. "... Right." He seems sore, embarassed, and, despite his words, apologetic, lowering his ears.
Skelaghe would not be as upset as she was with Kezu, had it not been for how he very effectively interupted her attempt to give Rowtag some sorely-needed discipline. Even knowing that, she does not take kindly to what he says in response. It is only Wyanet's statement that has Skelaghe remaining calm. She does not bother to chide Kezu further. Rather, she accepts what the two of them say with a nod, then looks back to her son. "When you apologize to me, and so long as you stay in my sight, /then/ you can go outside, and not a moment before." Her anger is not as pronounced as it was before, in the den, but she is still simply not happy.
Hahtalekin makes his way with slow, lumbering steps as he heads for the den and comes to a step on the other side of Kezu. He gives his brother a sideways glance, a questioning frown on his face, judging by his sibling's cowed expression that he's likely the cause of the tense atmosphere - or at least apart of it. He doesn't chime into the conversation, instead directs a glance to Wyanet and his brother with ears splayed out to either side. Clearly, he's missed something.
The pup does a fine job of ignoring the other party that joined him and his mother; unexectedly, in the den. Instead, he still glares up at her, wanting only to run between what areas of the entrance that she is not covering, and make a break toward his father. Father wouldn't treat him like this. His father would be kind, and would compliment him on his escape, he was sure of it. With ears fallling backward, he lets out a heavy sigh, and his tail idly flicks from side to side. "I'm sorry." He says half-heartedly, looking down at the ground of the den instead of up at her, but his eyes return to his mother after his excuse for an apology. "Can I go out now? Please?"
Leaning over, Wyanet pushes Kezu's muzzle with her paw rather roughly, giving him an amused look, before ambling over towards Haht' with a graceful gait to her step. Her tail sways behind her ankles a bit, almost coyly as she leans in to push up at his scruff. "So, we should head out for a bit, leave these two alone." She instructs with a dip of her head. "She needs to spend some time with her pup, and we shouldn't be in the way. Sides', I need to talk to you about something."
A long moment of silence, Kezu looking from Wyanet... to Haht, looking like he's becoming more and more regretful of his actions, until he steps forward once, looking torwards Skelaghe... and lowering his muzzle down, pressing his nose to the earth, saying no words... several seconds of the absolute bow, before he stands, nodding, taking a breath, and turning, his ears lain back against his head.
The apologetic action... And there, with it, goes the wind from Skelaghe's sails. Any other time, she would do her best to make sure he knows that her forgiveness was immediate, but he has already turned around, and she still has a yappy pup demanding her attention, so instead of leaping forward to give him a nuzzle or any such actions, she instead says to all three of them, "Travel carefully." Someday soon, she will explain to Kezu why, precisely, she was so upset, and let him know that very little of it was actually his fault. That day is not today, though, and there is still a very long list of things she must do before she can get to it, so looking back to her son, she says, "For a few minutes." She is not cruel. She will let him get some fresh air, stretch his young limbs, and so long as he does not run /away/, perhaps run around a bit. But this is not a normal, hours-long trip outside of the den.
"I hadn't been disrupting the peace." Mutters Hahtalekin as he passes a brief nuzzle to Wyanet before turning his head and butting it into Kezu's shoulder. "Get up. Come on, lug, let's go and leave them alone." Turning, he passes past his brother and back out into the grasses and away from the den, calling back to Skelaghe as he hears her words, "We're only a howl away." And then he's looking towards Wyanet, waiting for her to follow the way.
With a sudden look of happiness, Rowtag's tail begins to sincerely wag, and he runs up to his mother's leg that he had bitten in spite the day before, and nuzzles against it rather lovingly. Of course, it should be clear that it is all but an act to get back on her good side. He still plans on running off as fast as his feet will carry him if his mother is distracted. If not, he will be an angelic pup, and will hope to win back her trust gradually.. so that he really /can/ run off. And when he does run off, when he does meet his father again, as he knows that he will.. he might not be so keen on returning to the den. For now though, all seems well.

Come on, lug, let's go and leave them alone." Turning, he passes past his brother and back out into the grasses and away from the den, calling back to Skelaghe as he hears her words, "We're only a howl away." With a sudden look of happiness, Rowtag's tail begins to sincerely wag, and he runs up to his mother's leg that he had bitten in spite the day before, and nuzzles against it rather lovingly.
