Two-River Fork
===========================================================================
The river and waterfall motions intersect here, a graceful sight off in the short distance. The rumble of the falls is discernible, as is the glint of the waters. The grounds in between the slope and rivers here are damp and sponge-like; they are covered in full reeds, cattails and small puddle-like ponds. Frogs and toads are in abundance, as are some smaller marsh birds. It dries soon, though, and moves out to catch the sides of the water-forms on the outer edges of the soggy grounds.

Gitchiwaakwe & Rockfall, Viridian pups (daughter & son of Tariro and Aika)
---
Gitchiwaakwe is frozen in mid-step, ears pointed forward, only two bounding leaps away from a frog. Practising her stalking skills is one of her favourite games, and she always lets the critters she catches go, unless they're really old or lame. She hasn't seen her brother or Mum and Dad in a little while, but she's pretty close to the den, so she shouldn't get into much trouble.
Rockfall had a bout of early morning adventures (read: troublemaking!) and had been sleeping them off, hide-slumbeirng inside of a hollowed-out log, when his all-important afternoon nap is interrupted by his own sister and a ribbiting frog! The wary pup yawn-whines, stretches himself out a bit and gets to his paws.
Gitchiwaakwe takes one more step, all her concentration focused on the frog, who rolls one eye back towards the pup, ribbits in fright, and takes a leap without looking where its going. The pup wrinkles her nose and charges, bounding after the amphibian and finally grabbing it with both front paws. Peeking through the pup's toes, the frog croaks plaintively. The pup lets the frog go, tail wagging contentedly.
Rockfall spots his sister focused on the frog and decides to avenge the needless slaughter of his nap by stalking his sister whilst she stalks the frog. He crawls along his belly behind her, slyly not moving until she moves so the sound of her moves mask his own ... and as she lets the frog go, he finally makes the final leap to pounce her!
Gitchiwaakwe stretches and yawns, shaking her head to rid it of sudden sleepiness. "Euuuf... Wonder where Mom is.. M'hungry. Maybe I shouldn't have let that frog go.. He woulda made a nice snack. Wonder if any of the deer haunch is left... Hm.."
Rockfall gives his sister a good slobbering to the face. "Just a few bones left now," he complains. "I dunno where mom is ... must be off doing something 'Important,' he yaps, annoyed. Why can't pups be allowed to be where the Important stuff is instead to suffer from boredom all day long?
Gitchiwaakwe makes a disgusted face as she gets a big slurp right to the face. "Ewwww, -boys-!" She giggles and aims a playful swipe at her brother's head. "Yeah, and Hunts, too! I'm good at hunting, Mom and Dad know that! I catch nearly all the little creatures I chase, but Mom and Dad always say it's too dangerous, you could get hurt, don't go too far from the den.." She sits back on her haunches and rolls her eyes.
Rockfall rolls his eyes back at her. "Yeah, yeah, we all know how everyone loves frogs, and you could really help feed the pack by hunting the biggest frog around," he yaps snidely. "Or say you do catch a big, tasty moose ... but then let it go!"
Gitchiwaakwe snorts and rears up on her hind paws, shoving Rockfall bodily. "Hey, I'm smaller than you, and you can't even hunt a deer yet! How'm I supposed to catch a big, tall, fat moose? Even Mom and Dad can't get a moose right away, all on their own! They gotta run it down for ages and ages, then bite at it until it falls. And usually healthy moose can't be caught at all!"
Rockfall shoves back in a rivaly wrestling match. "When I feel hungry enough to hunt a frog, at least I don't let it go. I mean, that's kinda cruel isn't it? If you pounce a frog, you make it terrified ... but when you let it go, you're just gonna terrorize it another day!"
Gitchiwaakwe growls softly, tail swishing as she makes the play bow, ready to spring on her littermate. "But Mom always says that if something is healthy and strong, let it live so it can give us more food! It was a pretty good looking frog, but it'll make more frog babies if I let it go. Besides, frogs don't have very good memories. It won't remember me by tomorrow."
Rockfall snorts. "I don't think you understand it quite right. Dad says it isn't about letting the strong live, but about taking the weak out. Eat the sick deer, and the deer's sickness will not weaken the herd. That feeds us, and makes the deer strong."
Gitchiwaakwe yips scornfully and shakes her head. "So, tell me one thing, then, Brother.." She pauses for effect, smiling innocently.
Rockfall cocks his head at his sister. "What's that?" he asks.
Gitchiwaakwe grins mischeviously. "Who died and made YOU boss of the Mountain? Everyone knows she-wolves are the better leaders!"
Rockfall laughs. "Oh yeah!?" he yips and pounces at her again.
Gitchiwaakwe meeps and attempts to dodge the pounce, and, having been expecting a reaction, succeeds this time. She runs swiftly in a tight circle, trying to grab her brother by the scruff on his neck. "Yeh!" She mumbles, her mouth full of fur.
