Fallen Log
Tariro - Male Wolf
Aika - Female Wolf
-----------------------
The departure of his uncle half a day ago had left Tariro alone near the log; a smudge a green upon his white pelt and an idle curl cast upon his tail. Listening to his surroundings, he takes a deep breath and releases it in the form a huff; dry dirt clouding at his nose and causing him to sneeze. Lying here was really a boring activity so he decides to get up and go for a walk. Perhaps his chances of finding Haze would be greater this time. After a moments time, Tariro returns with no luck.
Aika had been busy trying to get her two young ones to bed, many nights they tried staying up giving the excuse that 'Dad said I could,' but she knew better. She stood and sighs giving one more soft nuzzle to make sure the two were snuggled up nice and warmly together. Seeing that Tari had returned she approaches and gives him a loving nuzzle, "You okay hon?" she says noticing his less than cheery disposition.
Tariro's approach was slow, showing a bit of how tired he was. Looking up from the path he takes, his gazes falls upon that of Aika's and a smile takes to his muzzle. Her nuzzle was a welcoming one; one he sorely missed having not seen her in what felt like moons. Pushing into her nuzzle, he brushes against her form in a high since of affection. "Much better that I've seen you." He tells his mate taking a few steps back and sitting in front of her.
Aika sits before her mate and licks at his muzzle a bit with a smile. "Thanks, I always like hearing you say that." She sighs and scoots in to lay her head against his neck, "Im sorry I haven't been around a whole lot lately. I guess Im so used to wandering that staying in one spot gets me jittery. I promise Ill be here for you and the cubs more often okay?"
Tariro had gone through this with Lexus not long ago; that he didn't know where she was. He figured she was out with their daughter and would return when ready. Little did he know that day would be today. "You don't need to apologize Aika, least of all to me." He says looking down at her. "Many of us find it hard to remain situated when wondering has been all we've known." Tilting his head and leaning it down upon hers he smiles. "I'm just glad to have you back." For however long it may last he plans to make the most of it before its to late.
Aika smiles and nods, "So how has everyone been? Rock and Hywel still picking on each other?" She chuckles and lays down, "You tried talking to Gitchiwaakwe about her um....well the voices. Ive been kinda worried about her lately. I think I'm gonna take her out alone and have some mother daughter time soon."
Silence, that was the first response Tariro gives Aika, picking his head up from hers and looking toward his sons. He didn't actually know they picked on each other; perhaps it was because he didn't allow it. "They've kept to themselves lately.. I think they know the move is coming soon and dont want to cause trouble." He could be wrong to. Furrowing a brow to the mention of Gitchiwaakwa hearing voices he blinks. This was news to him. "My brother spoke of it a few times. I think he mentioned something about working with her." He was really clueless on the whole thing really. "Spending time with her might prove useful however; just be careful when you do alright."
Aika nods and sighs, "I have only heard of it from him as well. Hopefully it isn't a sign of some deeper problem, I'd hate to see any of our cubs be troubled." She looks over at them and smiles, "They are cute though, they way they cuddle up to sleep." She looks back and smiles, "We should all do that sometime, it lets them know you love them and care." She smiles, "So how is the merge talks going so far? Any news on when we can expect it to happen?"
Tariro hoped not, but like all things they'd have to take it in strides and deal with the repercussions as they come. "I'm sure she'll be fine. She's young and its quite possibly she'll grow out of it, or learn to control it." He prefered she grow out of it, but will accept her for who she is either way. Moving onto something he actually knew about he turns from the pups and to Aika. "The talks.. well there haven't been many actually. I've been trying to reach Haze but it seems his managed to keep himself hidden for now." Turning from her and out toward the north he sighs. "The merge could happen at any time. I just hope our two sides can meet before comfirming the union; to ensure whatever problems there may be are worked out before they have a chance to grow."
Aika nods and looks to him as he turns, "And what happens if they start to grow? You think they would take back the offer and continue with their own plans? That would leave us in quite a bind all things considered. I mean were not the biggest or strongest pack out there, and to tell you the truth I would rather become wanderers than have to join another's pack and have to swear allegiance to some other alpha."
Tariro looks back, "I do not think things will come to that." He tells her. "If we all work together things will turn out for the better and we'll make it through." He wants to believe that and everyone else should to. "After all, our two sides are connected through family. If we can not forgive and forget, then what sort of family are we." He then considers her words - there was a point made in them. What if there were those in both packs who would rather run free than turn to a new alpha - to him. Would it simply fall apart before it even began. Tariro head shakes; no, he must stay positive. "We'll be fine; I feel it."
Aika nods and smiles as she scoots over to him and noses his neck, "I am sure you are right. I just wanna raise our cubs in the best possible environment, and I know you do too." She murrs a bit and nuzzles, "If you asked me even a few years ago where I would be, I never imagined it would be here with you and 3 wonderful cubs." She chuckles, "My parents didn't want me coming back to you. They wanted me to stay a wanderer like them and find a mate who would do the same."
Parents always want what they think is best for their children, but things don't always fall that way. They were clear proof of such things. "I felt like I was destined to be alone and wonder the wilds keeping watch over my pack from a distance." Tariro says in contradiction to Aika's. "But as things go, it didn't turn out that way for here I am; about to form a pack." He couldn't say if its was something his parents would of wanted, but in a since he had a feeling it was close.
