Jarin - Male Cougar
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Jarin pads along the trails. He's still learning the areas around here. But with the food that's around, he thinks he'll stay. He sniffs here, and looks there, making sure he's not on any of those annoying wolf pack lands, or at least the packs themselves.
It was late evening and the darkening sky found Huritt lounging over a boulder happily. He'd had his fill of dinner and decided that for tonight this boulder would be his. The male is sprawled very unregally across the stone, head back and paws dangling in the air. An ear twitches at the sound of pawsteps but until the other gradually comes nearer the cougar doesn't move. Finally a lazy swing of his head brings neon eyes open and Huritt stares in the oncomers direction curiously, his whiskers twitching.
Jarin notices the cat nearly the same time he notices him. He blinks and cocks his head. Hmm, warm boulder, at least warmed from the sky earlier in the day, that would be a nice spot to lay, but there's someone already there. "Hell." he says ssimply. Might as well not be too unmannered.
An ear twitches at the other males voice and a smirk slowly curves the corner of Huritt's maw. He stretches his pawns and yawns widely before floping comfortably back down, "Doesn't feel like it.." he drawls. No, it feels awesome. n______n A green eye cracks open once more in the others direction and his tail taps the boulder curiously. "Who're you...?" It's not asked rudely or aggressively, simply, curiously.
Jarin chuckles.. "I know, but you're there and I'm over here, so I can't feel it." He then stretches some, before sitting down. "I"ve been called Jarin." he says as he then asks, "And you?"
Huritt grins broadly at the comment. Yes, yes he is. He rolls along the boulder to face the other more but doesn't move. "Well Jarin.. you can call me Huritt." An ear twitches and neon eyes take the other in curiously before he rolls finally to his belly and lifts his head, large paws crossing. "You from around here Jarin?" he questions easily. Huritt knew there was a tribe of cougars not far off and yet he's rarely seen another big cat. Head tilts curiously while the male waits, ears twitching every once in awhile.
Jarin shakes his head. "Naw, I'm sure it's that obvious, but I'm not from here.. As I'm sure you've experienced.. when I was old enough, mom kicked me out." he looks around some.. "you been here long?" He too knows of another group, but that's from another cat he met, this one doesn't seem like one from that tribe. he doesn't have the markings he was told they have.
Huritt grins faintly, more of a crooked smirk. His mother never liked him much.. The male hrmms gently and shakes his head, "Not too long no.. just recently wandered into the area. Used to have family here.. supposedly." He shrugs a thick shoulder. "Well Jarin, seems we got somethin' in common. We're both new here." He grins broadly, eyes squinting in the process.
Jarin nods.. "Though I have learned somethings. I know there's a couple of wolf packs around, and I've heard rumor of a cat tribe.. have you seen any of them?" Never one to not mine for information. It's good to know.
Huritt nods slowly, "I've heard the packs yes... I skirted their lands as much as possible. The tribe, no, I have not seen." He drawls slowly. He tilts his head curiously and shrugs a little at a loss, "I don't really know much else. If I did I'd let you know. Us loner males need to stick together," he snort laughs rather dryly before offering a genuine grin. The only information his mother gave him when he left was that the cougars in this area may not take a huge liking to him.
Jarin nods.. "I can agree with that. especially if a wolf pack does come by or that tribe comes by. I'm not sure how much they like loners." he does remember his mom saying that not every feline is an enemy. Just certain times. He looks around. "You seem to have found a fairly decent area. better than that strange cave I found up north.
Huritt nods his head at the other males words and crosses his large paws happily infront of him. Green eyes scan the area slowly before he hmphs gently, "Yeah.. it is pretty nice.. well Jarin, since we're dealin with the same problem, your more then welcome to also enjoy my little lounging area." It'd be nice to have some company anyway, what harm could it do.
Jarin climbs up to the rocks, finding a nice one to lounge on. "Ooh, they are still a little warm aren't they." he says as he streatches before settling down. "So what brought you to this mountain anyway?"
Huritt grins as the other gets comfortable and Huritt shrugs a shoulder in thought, "My father was originally from this area, I think.. at least thats all my mother knows about him." He laughs faintly, "I got wandering paws and ended up here to check it out. What about you?"
Jarin nods.. "Well, tracking down food and this seems to have lots of it. I'm glad of that." his tail swishes behind him. "I'm not sure where my dad was from, never met him, never saw him. Never heard of him." he ponders.. "I guess I had one at some point.
Huritt laughs a little harder at this, "Well of course ya got a dad!" He grins broadly as he leans forward a little and chuckles, "Nah I never met my pop either. Everytime I brought it up to my Ma she about bit my head off. Guess he wasn't that great." Huritt snortlaughs for a moment before settling his head down upon his paws, "So how long ya think you'll be hangin around here? Like.. this area. Not that I don't like the company.. just curious."
Jarin chuckles some, then licks a paw gently, geting some dirt or something out of the claw area. He then looks over.. "Well, I think I'll be here for a while, unless things go down hill from here, never know, but it's a good area. How about you, what if you find your family here?"
The male bahs softly, "I doubt I'll find them. But, it's always something to use instead of saying 'I have no idea why I'm here'," he laughs. The male gets comfortable once more as he sprawls on the boulder. "Well Jarin, welcome to the family," he drawls lazily as his eyes slide comfortably closed, though his ears continue to twitch cautiously.
