Anoki (m. Juve. Wolf)
Kachina (f. Juve. Cougar)
How long as it been?.. How long has she been here? Kachina isn't sure at all. The cub has helped with digging in different areas trying to find a way out but so far no luck in that at all. Now the young cub is slowly waking up, stretching her form out and once she is sitting up gives herself a good shake off. A tired yawn escapes her and she licks across her maw before looking around and sniffing as she catches the smell of food. Her stomach grumbles and she moves up to her paws and moves towards the fish eyeing it and glances around for Anoki before taking a bite from said fish and goes about chewing on it and soon swallows it down.
Anoki is laying in the corner of the small den, head on the ground, paws still splayed out in front of him. His feet hurt.. every attempt since finding that wall of stone has made them more painful and stingy and sore, and he's all but given up on digging. Now he just wants his paws to stop hurting, and wants his mommy. Ears twitch as Kachina awakes, and works on eating the fish, and then slowly, Anoki stands, favoring both paws in a slow stagger toward the fish, ears laying back. "I don't think digging is going to work," he murmurs softly.
Kachina ears perk and she looks over to Anoki, a soft breath escapes her and she noses the fish over to him so he doesn't have to move too far. "You alright?" This questioned while glancing to his paws. Her own claws have been ground down from the repeated digging, feline's claws are able to stand up to a lot of diging. "I'm starting to get that feeling about digging too.." Her ears lower while she glances towards the entrance of the den. "Too bad we can't move them logs.."
A wince at paws touching the ground, and then Anoki bobs his head, before gingerly using one paw to anchor a bit of fish to rip the meat away, and chew it. he's not particularly hungry, fish tastes worse than hare, and he's pretty sure that his siblings could bring his much better food, but he's given up hoping for something other than fish. "My paws hurt," he mumbles, through chewing, before he swallows. "I tried to dig through the rocks and now they're all sore and stuff. I think maybe the stupid rocks are mocking me, too." He says, looking about the den before he grumbles. "Maybe we could try distracting them. Someone could distract them, and the other could run.. and we could get out and tell growed ups where we is.."
Kachina frowns and looks back to the wolf. "I'm sorry.." This said with a soft tone and a faint sigh escapes her. At the talk of trying to trick the bad animals she snuffles, pondering it seems. "Maybe.. Maybe we could do that." This said while she glances back to Anoki. "We, just have to be ready for them.. How fast can you run when your paws are better?"
"... I think I can run pretty fast. Plus I don't think that bird is big enough to pick me up, but I dunno," says Anoki thoughtfully, ears back a bit. He tears off another chunk of fish, and then retreats, laying down to curl one forepaw close and drop the bit of fish on the ground, eating off it slowly. "But you can run fast too, cant'cha? And you could probably climb up a tree an' hide maybe if you could get far enough away. All you'd haveta do is find your mommy, or my sister and tell them what's going on. Then the growed ups can fight them meanies and come get me."
Kachina ears perk and she nods slightly, a soft breath escaping her and she turns her attention to the fish and takes a bit of it once more. "Well.. ya.. I can climb trees and run rather fast." This offered with a soft tone while lifting her head. "But.. the bird carried me up here so I don't know what will happen if he grabs me again." There is a pause. "I'd be willing to try though."
Nodding, Anoki smiles, "You'd be the best attit." He says, as he finishes gnawing his bit of fish to bets and then, licking his snout, begins licking at his paws with a soft whine. "Well, we gotta stop digging at any rate.. there's nothin' but rock an' roots, an' if we try to dig into the roots we're not gonna find nuttin' but tree, and you just can't dig through rock, nobody can. I think we should lay low for a little bit, let'em think we done gived up, and in the meantime, watch'em. See wut they does. Look for an opening."
Kachina seems unsure about this and she soon nods. "Alright.. Then I will.." She offers while glancing back towards the entrance and then over to Anoki. "I'm sorry about your paws.. But I suppose your right, not much use at digging if we can't get through the rocks.." A nod is seen while she settles herself down and peers back at the entrance. "Alright.. That sounds like a good idea to me.."
"I also think we should try to make the food last as long as we can. Maybe stick some in places for later just in case," Anoki says, thoughtfully, thinking of something he'd heard from his packmates about how sometimes fod gets burried to save for later. He then mmfs softly, "And my paws is my fault, I shoulda known I couldn't keep diggin' after I hit rock, but I hadda try," he says, with a sigh, before he stretches his legs out again, and lays his head on the earth. "... They said they need more.. they's gonna be lookin' for others like us to stick inn'ere, Kachina. We needa do somethin' before more people is missing their mommies and daddies and is stuck here."
Kachina nods while eyeing the fish. "Ok.. I'll dig a few holes and put a few bits here and there so we can save it just incase." She glances over to him and frowns. "What else did you hear them say?" Now she's curious to say the least. "Did they say /why/ they neded more?"
He rolls his head in a noshake then murmurs, "They didn't say why," Anoki frowns, "but they said they's gonna go after moar woofies that live on the other side of the river from my pack. I didn't know there WERE any other wolves out there, but they want to go after them. I wish I could get out and tell them to be careful! I'm scared of it, really. This place doesn't feel right at all. All dark, and skeery, and there's just.. something wrong, not right at all."
Kachina frowns once more and nods, a forepaw lifting to rub across her face a few times and she soon lets her head rest upon the ground. "I didn't even know what a wolf was until I met you.." She misses her motehr and brother that's for sure. "It is a strange place, I know back a the tree it felt more bubbly and alive. I have this little sparrow friend that would follow me around.. But no one saw him save me.. At least I think no one else saw him."
"He was probably a ghostie then," Anoki says, thoughtfully, "My sister and I see things that no one else can see... she calls them spirits sometimes. And says they live in the wind with all those who go before us." Anoki frowns a little, ".. Your bird can't come here.. neither can my Moosie. This place won't let them.. And I wish it would because if I could talk to Moosie, he could go find my sister for me." He siiiighs with dismay then says, "So I guess it's up to us to figgur somethin' out." He frownyfaces. "... Wolfs ain't bad. Least I dun' know any wolf would stick a puppy an' a kitty in a hole like this and never let'em out."
Kachina peers over at Anoki curiously a moment. "Dey dead?.." She pauses a moment, ears lowering at the thought and she sighs before nodding. "Well.. I guess that sorta makes sense, My pa would talk about seeing ones that wasn't around no more." This offered with a soft tone. "Well.. I don't think wolfs bad, just never seen one before you dats all."
"Course I'm not bad." Smirks Anoki, but he does sigh: "I never saw a cat till I saw the one that brung me here. You're a diff'rent kinda cat, so maybe not all cats are bad, but.. I was scared of you at first too." He smiles weakly, tail wagging a bit, "Now I'm not, c'os you're nice." He smiles, slowly stands, and creeps closer in a slight limp, before flopping down next to her, and licking at her side.
Kachina smiles a moment and nods. "I know your not.." She offers while her tail curls at her side, forepaws tucked close to her chest. "I think I saw the cat your talking about.. I don't know what type she is. I'm a cougar.. My ma is bigger then that other cat." She tilts her head and peers at the other before smiling and leans close to nose back at his shoulder. "I'm glad you think I'm nice."
A smile, before the puppy wearily lays his head on his paws, leaning against the cougar with a murmur of, "It'd be a lot nicer if we could get outta here, but.. I guess we just gotta wait for an opper tunaty." He sighs again, and closes his eyes.
Kachina ears perk and she nods while watching the other, her tail twitching about and she yawns a moment before letting her head settle upon the ground. A very faint purr escaping her. "Ya.. we just gotta wait for the right moment to spring forth our plan.."
