Hmm...all that was over Ahiga's head. He gets the gist that Helaku is not a happy wolf, though with Helaku not being a wolf that is an important thread that makes up the tapestry of his life, he does not feel remorse. Besides, everybody knows bear is a bad word in these parts! Or at least, he believes everyone should know. He watches Helaku, his eyes narrowing and expression tight as he is not liking the tone this wolf is taking with a wolf who happens to be one of those important threads. He can't speak to Wachiwa that way! And he made Tala upset. Double whammy! But before he can do much about that, Wachiwa is up and moving off. "Eat crow?" Hmm...he'll decide what that means later. On to something he /can/ handle. Taking care of Tala. The newly cleaned young one quickly trots towards Tala, sending a slight glare to the too near Aeron. He's still unsure about that one. All but attempting to push him aside, he nudges his friend. "It's alright Tala. Look, he's leavin' just like ya said. You were wrong. Grown ups /do/ listen to ya," he says with a grin.
Tala ears flick as she hears Helaku's super long winded speech, not that she has any idea what half of it is that he is even speaking about. A few tears roll down her cheeks as she remembers when Wachiwa told Ikuna and herself what happened to there parents. "Stupid bears..stupid birds.." She mumbles out. A slight glance is offered to Aeron, she isn't sure what to make of that one though when Ahiga comes over she shifts to lean closer to her friend. "His not leaving cause of what I said.. His just pissed cause his a stupid wolf.. And Wachiwa is going off to talk to him to make things better not because she's mad, or mad at what he said." She's confused over everything suddenly. "Adults don't listen to me.." For a few moments she's quiet and curls up next to Ahiga, her head tucking down against his shoulder while her eyes close, a ear twitching now and then before she soon starts to doze off, falling asleep after a few moments.
Aeron dosn't really budge as the other male pushes at him aside from taking a single step back so Ahiga can be alongside her too "sleep well Tala" his voice very soft as he notes her start to drift off. His gaze then turns to Ahiga just looking at him with his head tilted to the side wondering just what his problem is.
Ah...poor Tala. His little trick failed to work, and poor Ahiga is left with a friend in tears. He doesn't know what to with a crying girlpup. They're difficult to console. Ikuna would be better at this he's sure, especially since he's her brother and likely has some sort of magical trick to make the tears stop. So all Ahiga can do is just be there and listen and be quiet because he has no idea what to say, ears drooping slightly. And lucky for him, that's all that needs to be done before she begins to cry herself to sleep! And then, she's asleep and he exhales a breath. Being the oldest is hard! He's supposed to take care of his friends, and.. Ikuna has been stolen and Tala is constantly sad. If only Ikuna were back and these strange and abrasive wolves were gone, things would be good like they were before! And...speaking of strange wolves, the youngster's eyes turn to the rather near Aeron, and his brows lower a little as he finds him staring at him. "/What?/"
There's little enough that Niyt can do, for sorrowing and angry puppies, but at least she can watch them for Wachiwa. Well, so far as she can watch anything. Mostly, that means being a presence here, and keeping her ears perked to listen to them. Ahiga takes care of Tala, so much as she can be. The death of a parent is such a hard thing, and with all the stress these pups are under, it's no wonder they're prone to breakdowns.
Aeron shakes his head slightly "There was no reason to try using force to move me away when a simple request would have been enough," His gaze turning to the sleeping Tala. "She will be in your company now tho and as such won't be alone." The last murmured more to himself then anybody else as he starts away from the two and back over toward Niyt to keep the lone wolfess company, she isn't local from his understanding and as such is interesting.
Request? Pft! Ahiga snorts out a breath. "I'm not gonna r-... /request/ nothin' from you. I live here. You don't," he states with a wrinkled nose. "Even your uncle or whatever said y'don't live with the pack, an' that's good with me cuz ever since your weirdo self n' your uncle or whoever that was," a nod is given in the direction that Mori went off to, "an' that other dumb wolf with that stupid thing on his neck got here, everything's been worse. Everyone's been mad an' yelling an' fighting an' Ikuna got stolen. So maybe if ya'd go back to your...whatever place you lived in before, it'd go back to normal." Likely, none of the above is particularly Aeron's fault, but it's easier to put the blame on him, especially when he's feeling especially stressed, as he is now!
Niyt rises to her feet, and pads over to place herself near. "No, Ahiga," she says softly. "That's not how you should treat a guest. When I first met Askuwheteau, he was angry because Ikuna was gone, and so he growled at me much like you're doing now with Aeron. When he realized what he did, he was very sorry, and he told me so. He understands that you should treat guests with politeness, even if you don't always agree with them. Can you try to do the same?" Why, yes, Niyt is aware of how Ahiga hero-worships Asku, and is not above using it as a lever on the pup's behavior.
Aeron blinks and actually twitches slightly at the words slung after him since they do hurt even if he refuses to show it aside from the instinctive reaction, his gaze lifting to look at Niyt as she starts to speak and nods slightly to her words. His body slowly turning around again to look at Ahiga as he moves in close to the she-wolf's side.
.. Did someone say Askuwheteau? Ahiga's hardened eyes blink up to Niyt, and while they're still narrowed, the venom that's begun to bled into them stars to seep away. Ok so...Asku apologized for being rude. He can understand that. Despite her eyes, he can't find too much incriminating evidence to justify being crabby to her. Aeron, on the other hand. Grah! Just the way he's nodding now, as if he's so high and mighty, is getting under his skin. This pup, if he was born near the same time as Tala and company, is younger than him, and hence /Ahiga/ should be the one being high and mighty! "I could...I guess.." he says, forcing himself to ignore that bobbing head, "if he /was/ a guest like you. But he keeps sayin' he's in the pack, an' he's not. I've been here forever. I even saw Asku's dad an' met him. An' I was there when Asku's dad an' mom were gone, and when Ikuna an' Tala were sad. An' when everyone was sad. An' I was there when everyone was gettin' happy again. An' when Ikuna an' Tala an' me rolled down the hill an' ate apples an' made the plan to catch rabbits. /And/ I was there when that dumb fox was here. And I heard all've Wachiwa and Asku's stories so far. He hasn't even heard one. This guy wasn't ever here, and he keeps sayin' he's one of us, but he isn't." .. Right?
Niyt settles herself down, nosing at Aeron's ears and then listening to all of Ahiga's complaints with a solemn expression and nodding from time to time. She's taking the pup all serious-like. "Do you know why Helaku argues so much?" she asks. Total non-sequiter? Well, maybe. "I think it's partly because he has one idea of what a pack is, and he won't admit there are other ones. That's what's going on here, too. A pack can mean a group of wolves that all agree to listen to the same Alphas. Aeron and you are both part of the same pack, because you both listen to the same Alphas." So far as Ahiga listens to anyone, but... the rules are a little different for puppies. "But a pack can mean something else, too. It means a group of wolves that love each other very much, and always spend time together and play together and hunt together and would do anything for each other. That's a very special sort of pack, and Aeron isn't in a pack with you like that yet. That's what you and Ikuna and Tala are. Maybe someday Aeron will join that pack for you, too. Or maybe he'll find his own heart-pack."
Aeron actually manages to look somewhat lost with Niyts explanation so while he likes to think he knows a lot, he just hit a wall here, his head leaning up into the nosing as he murrs softly.
Where Aeron is lost, Ahiga ... understands. Mostly. Kinda. Ikuna and Tala are his absolute favorites. Favorites in a different way than Askuwheteau is his favorite, Wachiwa he likes a great deal, and the other wolves of the pack, whereas not as close to his heart as the aforementioned, are still seen as "the pack". The other two youngsters are his...heart pack? His ears lift up, and the begrudging look on his youthful face has completely melted by now as he ponders this. This guest wolf has shed some light on things he apparently hasn't been too clear about lately with the sudden influx of new faces on the Ute lands. "Oh..." he says, somewhat to himself. He glances to Aeron. Definitely not part of his heart pack...and still not quite convinced he's part of the real pack either. But knowing that Ikuna and Tala are special to him and not Aeron is comforting in a way. He glances to Aeron now. "...Do you know Skahla?"
Niyt can't see that confusion on Aeron's face, or the dawning light on Ahiga's - but she hears that 'oh', and the question that follows it. A question, not a challenge or an insult. So progress is made. While Niyt hasn't met Skahla yet, she can guess who it is, based on the nickname for him she overheard from the other adults. She's silent now, to let the pups discuss.
Aeron shakes his head slightly at the mention of the name "Never met Skahla, tho uncle told me his sister and Skahla was promised to eachother before he started protecting my parents at the other densite" his voice toughtfull as he looks between the other youngster and the older she-wolf
"He's a Alpha. /The/ alpha here," Ahiga informs. "If you're in this pack for real, y'should know. An' you should know what he looks like an' what he likes 'n don't like for you t'do, cuz if you do the wrong thing, he'll eat your face." It's a fact of life! "An' if you're part of the pack for real, you're supposed to stay here. Here like, so everybody knows who ya are. Cuz if you don't, then you're just a guest, like...uh...her," he says, nodding to Niyt whose name he can't remember, or possibly never knew. "An' if you're just a guest, you're supposed to act like a guest, like I did, til Hahtal-...teky an' Asku said I could stay." A pause. "Got it?"
Niyt smiles at Ahiga's bossiness - but he does seem to have the right facts. Young wolves do establish hierarchies among themselves - nothing wrong with that - and it seems like Ahiga's inclination is to try for the top. Again, nothing wrong with it. If Aeron wants to challenge him for that place, Niyt won't stop him - though she will try to see to it that the contest is conducted fairly. She did the same when she was a pup, figuring out who would lead and who would follow. "Since Hinto and Lupin listen to Skahla, you're part of the pack even though you haven't met him yet. But you should. It is very important to know your alpha," she adds to Aeron.
Aeron furrows his brows in thought "If Skahla is /the/ alpha, does that mean uncle's sister is /the/ she-alpha right" He then nods to both of their words "Should I seek him out now or wait until the rest of the family arrives?"
Ahiga twists his ears to Niyt, then looks to Aeron to assure that he's listened to her. His question has him pausing for a bit of thought, piecing the connection together. "Uh, yeah," he concldues, nodding once. "She is." He'll leave out the fact that he's yet to meet the ever elusive alpha female! "Um, you should wait. An' if your dad tells ya to go inside the den, /don't/. Skahla doesn' like nobody in there that he don't know, and he don't know you. He'll tear off your ears. Really." He glances to the still sleeping Tala, suddenly feeling a less then gentle stab of sadness upon remembering that one member of his heart pack is missing. "Ok, so now you know that. Maybe I'll tell you more stuff later, but I'm tired now." He settles onto his stomach then, yawning widely.
Niyt nods to Ahiga's answer. She didn't even know there /was/ an alpha female! Good thing she has the pup to answer these questions. "Your parents can present you to the alphas, and introduce you. You can ask them when they think would be best to do that." When Ahiga says he's tired, she nods again. "I think perhaps we should all rest for a bit." She settles down, and starts to softly sing, an old, old song she learned from her mother. "The sky is dark and the hills are white - As the storm-king speeds from the north tonight..."
Aeron opens his eyes wide at the song niyt starts to sing and settles down leaning in against her, his own voice joining into the song "And this is the song the storm-king sings, as over the world his cloak he flings" A soft smile appearing on his lips as this atleast is one thing he can enjoy without a single worry or thought.
Resting sounds like an excellent idea, and Ahiga's head lays upon his paws, unable to shake his thoughts of Ikuna. But, nagging as they are, one thing does jolt them from his mind. The song. Not the particular song itself, but moreso the sound of singing. He knew singing once. Once a long time ago. He knew a voice that sang a song as Niyt is singing now during the peaceful times of evening as he fell asleep. He knew a song, and it was his favorite, and no one could sing it as sweetly as she. But...now he cannot remember the song, or the sound of the sweet voice. And face? How could he forget? How could have not thought of her for so long? And now memories are fading...or have faded, and he feels a moment of panic that shows only in a slight tensing of his body as he curls up a little more, tucking his face away. Now is not the time to feel this way. His friends, his pack, is more important than his individual self. There's already enough to worry about. "..You suck at singing, weirdo," he murmurs, though his voice doesn't carry malice in it. It's a groggy sound, and soon there's nothing left to be heard except his breathing. Asleep, one would hope.
Niyt smiles as Aeron joins in the song, and Ahiga's mumbled insults don't even get a frown from her. She continues the song, as the pups drift off toward sleep. "'Sleep, sleep, little one, sleep;' - He rustles his wings and gruffly sings: - 'Sleep, little one, sleep.'"
Aeron lets the mumbled word flow over him as well, since he is singing he has no time for such silliness "On yonder mountain-side a vine clings at the foot of a mother pine; The tree bends over the trembling thing," His head tilting upward to smile warmly at niyt, he might have figured out the fact she dosn't seem to see anything but its the thought that counts yes? and his voice is warm and content.
