Tala, Adol. Wolf
Ahiga, Adol. Wolf
WoodLand Acre
Cottonwood trees dominate the landscape here, sharing the space begrudgingly with a few aspens, blackberry bushes, and a tangle of various other trees and shrubs. Towards the southern end of the acre, an old, long dead tree stands. It has an amazingly thick trunk, with some scraps of silvery bark still remaining on the upper portions, where browsing animals could not reach. Its branches stagger inward and outward, creating a knotting of wood that took decades upon decades to sculpt. Although the ancient plant's life has ended, its insides have become the homes for all manners of mammals and birds.

A cold chill can be felt in the air more, Tala is making her way
through the area heading towards the marsh it would seem. Her large paws barely make a sound as she moves across the leaves that have fallen across the area. Her ears perk forward and twich now and then, her nose twitching at the passing breeze. At the edge of the marsh she pauses letting her gaze drift over the area and she licks across her maw a moment.
With his winter coat, Ahiga is looking a bit thicker and ready for the chill that the next season is sure to bring. This is a time of change, and he sees it no matter where he goes. The trees are lookng more bare than colorful nowadays, the flocks of birds are heading off to warmer places, the pack itself radiates change with Wachiwa leaving and the Three Amigos having more responsibility on their shoulders now that they're reaching adulthood. Ahiga has found it comforting to wander the lands, calling it patroling, which is what he's doing now. The young male moves less quieter than Tala, who he doesn't notice as he emerges from the grassy lawn, head down as he sniffs at the ground, perhaps searching for the trail of a lost prey animal he's been tracking.
Tala ears twitch forward, her gaze drifting towards the movement and she lifts a brow while she catches sight of Ahiga. Her ears lower a moment as the past few days come back to her and she stands quietly just watching the other. Her gaze drifts to the ground and a faint breath escapes her before she moves forward, her steps still quiet. "Hey Ahiga." She offers as she moves closer towards where he is.
Ahiga perkshis ears at the sound of his name, and his head lifts from the ground soon after, eyes landing on Tala. Uh oh. He glances to the left and right, perhaps searching for another wolf, but the third musketeer is nowhere to be found. He swallows, though soon a determined look comes over his face. This is Tala. One of his best and oldest friends. He is /not/ going to let this get weird! "S'up," he answers with a crooked grin, tail waving a little as she nears him. "What're you doin' out here?"
Tala moves along towards Ahiga, her tail twitching a few times as she goes. "Just out wandering.. Thought I picked up a trail from some deer but I lost it a few yards off." She pauses a moment, head ilting while she glances over to Ahiga watching him a few moments and pondering something it seems. "Hey.. I.. Wanted to talk to you about the other night." Is was bound to happen after all!
"Huh. Maybe same deer I was trackin'," thinks Ahiga aloud as he turns his eyes off in the distance, narrowed, as if he could catch sight of the lost deer just by sheer will. "Was hopin' we could bring somethin' down before Chewy...y'know," he continues, turning his eyes back to her. But the feeling of unease he's been fighting begins to creep back with her last words, and he clears his throat a little, ears splaying to the side. Of /course/ she wants to talk about that! "Uh...sure," he says in what he hopes is a light-hearted tone. "Wh-..er, What's up?"
Well of course she is going to bring it up! Tala's ears perk forward slightly as she watches Ahiga, wondering what she should do.. Say what she was planing on or not. A soft breath escapes her and she looks to the ground. Oh look a bug! "Look.. I an't gona lie to you.. I do have feelings for you Ahiga." There is a slight pause. "I mean.. Other then my brother and nephew and them strang wolves that say there family but I don't think they are I don't have well.. many wolves to pick from.." IF he gets her drift.. She clears her throat and glances back to Ahiga. "I don't expect you to feel the same way though but I wanted you to know." There its out on the table so to speak.
Ahiga idly shuffles his paws, wondering if things will /ever/ get back to normal with his friends. Being around them should never be awkward, and talking should never be difficult! His eyes drift from her, to some place behind her, to a fluttering leaf, then...back to her rather quickl as she talks. She has feelings for him? Like, what kind of feelings? Are they good ones? Bad ones? The same kind of feelings that she has for her brother type feelings? Somehow he's sure the answer to the latter question is a big resounding no, and a spark of something lights in his chest. It's a happy feeling. Something that's making him feel sort of weightless. But that initial giddiness is short lived, replaced abruptly by a brick in his gut. Not many wolves to pick from. He blinks once, brows faintly furrowing in confusion. A lack of unrelated males? That's why she's...pft. Of course it is. His eyes move from her and stay averted this time, claw clenching for a moment. "Sh'yeah. Thanks for lettin' me know," he answers, voice flat. He steps back, the edges of his mouth pulling down. "Look, I got patrols to do, so we're done with this, right?"
Tala ears perk forward slightly as she watches him, a faint sway of her tail is seen before perhaps it dawns on her what she said and how it might been taken. "No.. wait.. that's.. I didn't mean it like that.. About." Her ears lower and she looks back to the ground eyeing it quietly, of couse she would mess this up too. "Ya.. Sure.." Is all she says. She shifts on her paws and turns without a word more, her tail flicks as she moves heading towards the marsh without another look back towards Ahiga. Tala has never been one good with words, blame it on her mother she's more of an action type of wolf.
