Tala, a female adolescent wolf
Grim, a male wolf
---Tranquil Pond---
Early spring still brings with it some cooler days, such as the one today. Tala seems to be slowly improving, a faint cough escapes her at times but her breathing has at least gotten better, still she's not anywhere near being a hundred precent which will for sure still take some time. At the moment she is laying next to the pond, her blue gaze settled upon it while the water slowly ripples now an then from a small bug perched upon it. A faint snuffle escapes her, forepaw lifting to rub across her face a few times in the process before a yawn is heard. Eh.. She wants to be better, able to get up and run around, go hunting, do something other then /lay/ here.
Try talking to them. Get to know them, he says. Phfft. What's there to learn? Their favorite color? Besides, that would involve having to talk to them. Though the talking isn't the problem for Grim, as much as the having to listen to what they might have to say; that part complicates things. However, seeing as how Brutal is dead set on seeing this through, it has left Grim with little choice but to go along with it. However, nobody says he has to be agreeable about it. In fact, the only reason they are staying, as it appears to Grim, is because the whole lot of this pack is made up of a bunch of pansies. Long legs carry the tall grey wolf into the area, his fur in a state of disarray and decorated with the occasional leaf litter from several long hours of rest. It was much needed, but by mid day, it has found the brother restless. Golden eyes make a quick sweep around the proximity of the pound, making note of those both present and gone, though it is with little alarm that the absent are considered. Grim knows he isn't the only one restless these days, which eventually leads his regards to Tala, some part of him pleased to see the she-wolf is fairing better, but the other part of him resigned to stay loyal to his malcontent. Hmph! Slowing from a ambling saunter, Grim comes to stand a short distance from the female, though his golden eyes are set clearly upon her, "Tala, isn't it? You know, now that I see how sick and weak you are, I guess I shouldn't judge. But, well..." his lips twitch with a small smirk, a expression that borders on a mocking sneer, "your fighting skills /suck/." Say, maybe this talking thing won't be so bad? He feels better all ready! Flopping back upon his haunches, Grim dips his shoulder and lifts a hind leg, absently scratching at his neck wound, which now just itches. "Don't beat yourself up, though. That brother of your's is waaay worse."
The scent is picked up before the movement is, Tala tilts her head slightly, steel blue gaze flicking towards the approaching wolf whom watches a few moments. At his comments her ears lower, pin back upon her skull and a faint pull of her lips is seen to show her white fangs a moment. Talk about her all you like but /don't/ bring her brother up in a negative! "Well.. Gee.. thanks for that show of good will." Her tone is already thin as she speaks, a large forepaw slides against the ground, ebony claws gripping at the lose earth near the water. Seems Tala is feeling better if she is getting snippy with the larger wolf. NOT that Tala is small mind you. "I suggest you never.. bring my brother up in a negative manner around me again. It is not a healthy subject for you." A faint low growl even escapes her to try and prove her point. "An yes, my name is Tala. Your Grim?" Her ears slowly twitch to perk forward once more. "An don't worry I wasn't beating myself up over it."
Between the brothers, Grim was always the one to prod the hornets nest, in as much of a literal sense as a proverbial one. Brutal imagined it was always in a desperate act for attention, such is the way of many a sibling who grows up in the shadow of another. Later instances, however, would prove that the wolf actually derived a sordid sort of pleasure from it. But then, Grim never claimed to be noble, honorable, or even remotely guilty of acts of good will. What he is renowned for, is a inexplicable talent for cleverness, but which should never be mistaken for intelligence. Because if he were a smart wolf, he'd never have a need for wit in the first place. The instant that Tala speaks and her tone carries to reach Grim's ears, her gaze will find the wolf smiling still, golden eyes lit with all manners of mischief. Grim seems to take a moment to consider her warning, replacing his hind leg and rising back up to his great height, venturing a few steps toward the she-wolf as he gives his head a curious tilt, "Hmm..." he muses, taking another step, at this point threatening a encroachment upon her personal space, "We are talking of the same brother, yes? Not the one with the crooked tail. He seems capable enough." Grim, of course, know exactly who is who, but this is suddenly promising to be a fun game and so he plays at it. The sound of her growl inspires a ear twitch, but Grim continues to hold his ground, halting just a few steps from the she-wolf. Her inquiring into confirmation of his name brings the grey male to smirk a bit wider, "Some times I'm grim. But only on cloudy days, or when I'm stuck looking out for a group of wolves who cannot look out for themselves." He continues to smile, "And were you not? Hmm." Grim takes those last few steps, lowering his head to bring his face close to Tala's, his voice nearly a gentle whisper, " I would, if I were you." At this time, his tone becomes darker, threatening almost "Because if you hate my words now, you'll hate yourself all the more when your strength fails and you cannot help your brother, your lover, or anyone else whom you hold dear."
"What brother are you possible talking about then?" Tala questions, could he mean Skahla, then if its not Ikuna? Her ears twitch back a slight inch while her gaze settles rather cooly upon Grim's form, watching him a few moments. Her jaw tenses as she hears Grim, her gaze narrowing and another faint growl escapes her, this time for him being so close to her. Its a warning sign to back the HECK off. "An.. Why would you say a thing like that? I'm regaining my strength. If you don't want to stay no one is making you stay." She points out with a half snort and lash of her tail as she slowly hauls herself upwards so she is sitting. Her gaze rests clearly on Grim, and she can nearly look him right back in the face now.
Grim never was one to respect someone's personal space, especially if that someone happens to be female. Her quiet growls are inviting, firmly believed to be misleading overtures of flirtation. She just doesn't know it yet. The result, of course, is that Grim doesn't back off, nor does he show any signs of doing so. Instead, the grey male ushers up a sympathetic expression, "Regaining your strength? I do not speak on your current health, my dear. I am simply pointing out that you obviously lack experience for battle. Your endeavors with those two dogs were rather pathetic and humorous, at best." The wolf's pale muzzle becomes creased with a grin, the expression reaching the corners of his eyes, "Did you get their names, hm? Perhaps set up a date with them?" He
watches her closely as she hauls herself up into a sit, the lashing of her tail and the sound of her snort eliciting a continuous grin, "And you are wrong, you know. I am being forced to stay. Tasked, even. But only until you..and what few others make up this pack of yours, can prove yourselves capable against these dogs. With that said, I am not here to insult you, little sparrow perched in her tree so proud, but to teach you how to hunt with the hawks, instead of forage with the grouse." At this point, Grim takes a second to cut his eyes away, as if to ensure none were watching before he takes the last step in, bringing his face in close, his muzzle nearly brushing along her own and his breath warm upon her cheek, "I thought it a bit bothersome that I should be asked to help train, but now looking at you, I think that I might enjoy it." Yeah, he's just asking for it now.
Tala is quiet as she listens to the other wolf, taking in what he says an mulling it over a few moments. She won't deny that when it comes to fighting she isn't that well informed of the act, but its never stopped her in the past! Her ears suddenly lower, her gaze narrowing as she eyes Grim suddenly very thinly at the talk of her setting up a date with the dogs. A bit of fear runs down her spine as she remembers what Ghast says and for a moment her mind is back to the day of the fight.. An then to what happened to Chewy, her eyes close tightly a moment, claws gripping the ground while she takes in a faint breath. Her eyes open and she blinks while watching Grim curiously. "Your.. going to train us how to fight?" Her mind ponders this for a moment before her form tensing as he is there in front of her, breath against her. A sudden snarl escapes her, maw pulled back and fangs going to try and bite down hard against Grim's cheek as she attempts to scramble up onto her paws."GET away from /me/!" She lets out with a thick growl. Oh, someone stepped on a button it seems.
It was only a matter of time before the pressure would break her resolve, Grim knew this. Though it happens much more quickly than he could have anticipated, the explosion of ferocity surprising even to him. As expectant as he was, Tala's quick flash of fangs nearly cost Grim a bite, but it was also that same fury sounded in her preliminary snarl that warned him in time to jerk away. Tala is rewarded with a small tuft of cheek fur plucked like a feather from the side of Grim's face, the grey wolf's masked visage heralding the laughter that is chortled by the male in the utmost amusement. Grim doesn't bother following Tala's orders, for her scrambling paws could achieve any distance she'd like on account that he doesn't move to crowd her any further. Instead, he just clucks his tongue against the roof of his mouth, smiling most pleasantly at the hot tempered she-wolf, "Tsk tsk. You really should learn to harness your emotions. They betray you. Make you predictable. A predictable wolf is a dead wolf." He pauses, drawing his tongue across his lips and letting his golden eyes roam along Tala's figure in a manner that is undeniably lewd and bawdy, and himself hardly concerned that she should see it. "Or in your case, worse. Do not think all enemies will come at you with tooth and claw. Words, little sweet sparrow, can wound much deeper." Grim gives himself a small shake now, settling his coat into place and smoothing the ruffled divot in his cheek. He then offers Tala a roguish wink, "Consider this your first lesson." With this, he makes a show of turning away, as if all had been of no consequence.
Tala is indeed a hot tempered she-wolf, she shifts on her paws and is at least able to keep herself up. Head lowered and hackles raised. "What response did you think I could give?" She blinks and soon glowers after him. "I suppose you was /expecting/ that reaction wasn't you?" This seems to actually make her madder. An without a snarl, or intake of air she is trying to bite down against Grim's tail that is now bouncing around before her, a mere few feet from her face. She wonders if he thought of /that/..
No, Grim hadn't thought of that. Neither did he expect it. Haughtily swishing in the wake of his arrogant stride, the big wolf's tail makes for a very inviting and easy target, proven the instant that her teeth clamp down through thick fluff and close upon narrow bone. YIPE! Needless to say, Tala catches Grim off guard and the yelp that escapes his is borne more of that surprise than actual pain. Not that there isn't any discomfort, but nothing so painful as the wound his pride gets dealt. "Deceitful two-faced female!" he snarls out, bending promptly at the middle as he curls his body, turning in upon himself as if in a slow motion act of chasing his own tail. There is a problem with this movement of course, for with being of such great height of shoulder, also comes a great length of body. So great, in fact, that Grim's chance of catching his own tail are minimal, made even less so by the fact that Tala has already caught it for him. So around he stumbles, dragging Tala along so long as she is attached, and grunting and snarling with the effort to bite at a face he cannot reach until, instead of growling, Grim cannot help but start laughing. "Dammit female, would you..." Umph. Tug. Grunt. Chuckle. "Let go." He is long past saving face, so instead of trying to struggle to free himself, Grim just halts to stare back at Tala, a strange sort of sheepish grin caught upon his face, "Okay, so maybe I've underestimated you." he admits. Of course, Grim /could/ have turned strait into Tala's own flanks in order to defend himself, but this was somehow...more fun.
Tala is indeed dragged forward, she shifts on her paws keeping herself to the opposite side so Grim, if he tried to get at her would only find air. Seems playing with Ikuna and Ahiga have really helped in some areas, like being a bee in a certain's wolf's rump at the moment, or tail. She gives her head a faint shake as she is dragged, teeth just holding on and a bit painful but not enough to do any damage other then slobber his fur and pinch the skin and bone there. Her steel blue eyes are wide, a bit of a wild look to them as she eyes Grim. She seems to think over the comment of him asking her to let go, amusement crosses her face and once he goes about saying he underestimated her, then and only then does she let go. A faint snap of her jaws seen before a hacking cough escapes her. Her head is lowered for a moment, seems the movement was to much for her still weakend form. "Should never underestimate who you give your back too." This said while she slowly shifts, moving shakly towards a spot and settles herself down there. Tala may not be of good as a fighter as Grim and Brutal, but she has some tricks it would seem!
Once released, Grim's tail immediately jerks away, tucking down between his legs in a manner that seems to suggest the appendage is more offended than the wolf it is attached to. The sheepish expression remains upon the male's face, though it becomes more mirthful in nature in the passing seconds. That is, until the sound of Tala's hacking cough removes all manner of humor and brings the brother to frown softly, though he still offers her words of recognition with a simply stated, "Touche." Still standing in place, Grim's golden eyes watch as the young she-wolf moves to ease herself down into a place of rest, his expression much more guarded now, until with a thought it seems, Grim's smirk of mischief returns, "You best hack up that hairball you've been working on for the past few days. Cause now that I know what kind of a treacherous she-wolf I'm up against, I won't be holding back next time. Now if you'll excuse me, I best go make sure Brutal isn't off saving a family of squirrels from beaver evictions, or something else that he thinks needs protectin'." As much as this last remark is said in way of jest, something about Grim's tone suggest there is also a hint of a truth behind it, or history, as it were.
Tala eyes half close as her head settles to the ground, faint feeling of pain rest in her chest for a few moments as she breaths slowly to stop the coughing. her gaze slowly opens, peering towards the other wolf whom she watches a few moments. A soft chuckle soon escapes her. "I see.. Well then I will be ready." Still in the back of her mind she is not fully sure how to take this wolf. One moment acting like of the dogs and then the next, this? A faint quiver runs across her form as she recalls the dogs, an then Grim's actions and she soon shifts, half curling up in the process. She is curious on the talk of saving squirrels but doesn't think on it long as she falls asleep with a faint murmur escaping her.
