Crooked Brook
Tariro m. Wolf (Alpha)
Coinin m. Wolf (Beta)
----------------
Its been some time since Tariro had left the clearing to the north, a pleasent place it was but one he's lingered to long. Unable to remember why he was even there to start, he's ventured off following the river to a brook where he now stands, head dips to its cool waters. A den amongst the ledges has become the wolfs new place of settlement, glancing to it in sudden intervals as he laps at the brook.
Coinin has been out and about following after Tariro's scent. With spring arriving he figures that he needs to come home. Tariro has always come and gone as he pleased, but he has been gone for way too long. No one has seen him or Maka anywhere and its just something that hasn't really sat all that well with Coinin. He has a bad feeling that there is something going on that shouldn't be and its high time that those who were lost come home. He has followed Tar's scent from the clearing and now managed to find this place. He glances around. Tar's scent is close. He lifts his head and howls to see if he will get an answer.
At the Crooked Brook, Coinin howls.
Taking a seat upon the completion of his drink, Tariro gives smile to a thought. One forgotten memory has brought him another and though its not likely to be viewed as anything characteric to how anyone may know him, he finds it well within his standards. Standing to move along the brook, dropping down a slope leading to the den, he is brought to a stop when anothers howl echos into the area. Being so close, he looks around and from his position he sees no one. Howling back in hope of clues, he keeps his watch.
At the Crooked Brook, Tariro howls.
Yep. Thats definitely Tariro's howl. He would know that howl anywhere. He starts off at a pretty fast pace toward its source. Once he is in visual range he is able to identify that yes indeed it is Tariro. He looks to be more or less ok which is good but he definitely has more than a few questions for him, "Tar! What are you doing all the way out here?" he asks.
It does not take long for the wolf to spot the source of the howl and immediatly he steps from the slope to face the nearing wolf. Looking at Tar one can see the large gash upon is head, though mostly healed it is easily seen through the bare spot in his pelt. Ears dropping back to his name, he looks at the wolf in question. "How do you know my name?" The rest of the wolfs question left to be answered later.
Coinin blinks as he comes to a stop in front of the wolf. What does he mean? He knows his name because he has been hanging out with him for a long while now, "I know your name because you're my friend. We've known each other for well over a year now. Probably closer two two. You ok?" He suspects that probably he isn't ok, after all if he was in his right might he wouldn't have asked that question.
Tariro is more than confused by the response he's been given. How is it possible that this one knows him when he's never seen him in his life. Apparently there has been many things that have drawn him pause these past few days.. First why he was in the clearing searching for a den. That later answered with a pleasent surprise. Second was the she-wolf named Kasa who apparently knew who quite abit about him. Now it was the wolf before him who claims to be his friend of years. "I think your mistaken.. How can I be your friend, I dont even know who you are." Nothing about this wolf was familiar and he inches down the slope toward the den a few steps a tad defensively.
Aww crud. There is something wrong with him. Its like he has lost his mind or something. He knew he was getting old but dementia usually settles in slowly and not so fast. Perhaps though that is where he was all winter. Either way though he needs to get him home where it is safe, "Tariro you are going to have to trust me that I know you. You need to come home. We are begining to worry about you. You would be safer there. No one should be wandering around out here alone."
Turning and leaping onto a lower ledge just outside the den, a few more winter injuries are revealed across Tariro's pelt. A likely cause to his dementia. Looking back up to the wolf he is relulctant to even agree with him that wandering out here- alone -wasn't the best of choices but he wasn't exactly alone out here. Making sure all is well with quick look into the shadows of the den he blinks back up at Coinin. "Home.. and where is that?" For all he knew this was his own; this little crevice along the brook. His family was here- why would he leave them for someplace else.
Coinin watches Tariro closely. Things are begining to fit into place just a little bit more. He could have gotten hurt and lost his mind. Its rare but it has been known to happen. He sees him looking into the den and finds himself wondering if Maka is out here with him. If she is out here with him it would make him feel a bit better about the situation, "Tar is Maka out here with you?" he asks. He's going to have to explain to him that as the alpha of the pack he can't stay away from the pack indefinitely. Thats just not how it works.
At this very moment Tariro has no idea that he is the alpha of a pack, nor does he know that the wolf infront of him is his second. To him, Coinin was just another bystander with a little knowledge on who he may be. Its a scary thought but he might actually believe it true. Things quiet in the den, Tar gives his full attention to Coi just as he mentions a name vaguely familiar. "No." Maka wasn't the name of the she-wolf he had met nor the name of the one inside the den.
Coinin is growing more concerned by the minute. Where in the world was Maka. She should be with him, but she isn't. He now has two mysteries to solve and he doesn't like the sound of either of them, "Tar who do you have in the den?" he asks. He might as well go through with this in a straight forward manner. There is information that he needs and he isn't going to leave here until he gets it and gets Tar to come home. If he has made a friend the friend can come home with him too and they can all sort it out back there.
Tariro wished he knew more about things than he did, but he doesn't. Everyone he's meet since winter ended seemed to know him and yet he has no idea who they are. He wasn't even sure who he was. Coinin's question brings up only one name; the only name thats been stuck in his head since for as far back as he can remember. It belonged to a small pup- his pup. There was no doubt about it. Looking guilty and not even sure why, he sighs up at the wolf. "My daughter."
Coinin nods his head, ok so Tar has a pup back there. It makes sense and its surely possible, "Ok. Where is her mother?" He is resigning himself to the fact that Tar might have forgotten about Maka completely and found someone else. In any event if the pup can travel she should come home with Tar then.
Why did this wolf care who the mother was; why did he even care who was in the den. It could of been empty for anyone knew. It wasn't though and now tariro was on the spot. He had a pup hidden away, who he claimed to be his daughter, and there was no mother in sight. "I dont know." Is the first thing he says giving another look into the den. "She left some time ago. I haven't seen her since." He's words sound true. Though she had to of still been around since the pup looked healthy and fed.
Coinin has figured out that the cubs mother is probably not Maka and is someone else. Its likely that she is around here somewhere. He should find her because she will likely be the key to getting Tariro agree to come home, "Ok. Tariro we need to find her. What is her name?" he asks. If he can find this lady he can convince her to bring him with her back to the river.
Pacific enters carrying a hare with her - another succesful hunt, the spirits must be look toward her favor.
Honestly, with all thats been going on he'd be lucky to remember the name of his own child let alone the one who birthed her. "You'd be better off just waiting for her to return.. if she does." Saying that was better than trying to recall a name he obviously cant. "Why do you care where she is anyway.." Tar then realizes he doesn't know the wolfs name. "..whoever you are."
Coinin hasn't really noticed Pacific yet. His full attention is on Tariro. He is going to have to lay it all on the line for him so that he can understand, "I'm Coinin the beta of the Cerulean pack. This might come as a shock to you but you are the alpha of the pack Tar. I'm not sure what happened to you but you have a problem with your memory. You have forgotten your family and we need you to come home. You can bring your daughter and your mate home with you, but we really need to go right now." Boy is Maka going to be upset with Tar when she finds out. They can deal with all that later on though. The main focus right now is to get him home.
Odd it was. Tar, the alpha of a pack he cant recall ever being in- how amazing is that. He doesn't think its that amazing at all, infact he's rather confused. If he was truely alpha, why the hell was he way out here? Another question to coincide with why he woke up alone in the middle of winter covered in blood. Dropping to his haunches and looking to the ground, Tar takes a few moments to think over whats been said. "Why do you guys need me.. you've managed this long with out me.. so why now?" He says this looking up to the wolf.
Pacific looks down at her rabbit. She feels that this conversation is not really her business. Retreating to the shadows, she gets lost in her memories of her mother and brother.
Coinin isn't going to take no for an answer on this one, "Because you are our friend and for most of the pack you are a member of the family. And Tar you need to come home for your mate Maka." he says. That should catch his attention, "I have been looking for you for some time. You were out looking for den's cause you and Maka were going to have puppies this spring. You never came back. I've been looking for you for some time." As for Pacific since she didn't say anything he hasn't noticed her yet.
This is his fault how.. If what he says is true he doubts he'd of remained here and left them to fend for themselves- to worry over someone they barely noticed unless he was needed. And this Maka.. who was she? Was she really his mate? Why wasn't she here with him? And where are these puppies? Looking to the sky Tariro is left with very few answers he believes to be true. "I'm sorry Coinin, but I cant." His tone is soft and sincere. "If want you say is true, how can I go back to what I dont remember." Turning to the wolf he holds a meek smile. "To a mate I've turned my back on and a pack I remember nothing about." Maybe its best that he doesns't remember them.. "I've grown old, Coinin. What use could I possibly be now."
For the first time Pacific speaks. "You can give them hope. Until now you've been dead to them. No matter what hardship you have faced, what mistakes you've made, they will understand. The are your family."
Coinin glances over to Pacific, who he hadn't really realized was there, he gives her a nod and looks back to Tariro, "The dog is right. The important thing is to get you home. You can work it all out in time. I'm sure that everyone will understand. Besides you said you have a daughter. She would be much safer back home with the pack than with just you and your female friend out here. She wouldn't have to worry about food or anything like that. You wouldn't have to worry about it either. I'm sure your lady friend would welcome that as well. She would be more free to spend time with her daughter." If nothing else there is that. The pack can figure out what to do with all this later. The important thing is that Tar has been found.
Seems this one doesnt know his family all to well- like he use to. If he were to remember he'd know they cared for themselves more than they did someone else. Which would explain why its only Coinin, someone not even related, here seeking him out. With a sigh Tar simply shakes his head. Looking to the dog he would huff in retort questioning her where he gets the right in interfere in a conversation she knows nothing about. He holds his tongue however looking to Coinin. "I am honored you care so much about my well being and the benefits of me returning to a home I dont remember. But I can not just simply pack up and leave." His daughter was not ready. His mate... where ever she is- He could not help but feel she doesnt really care for the young pup. "Give me time to think it over." Afterall, who knows what kind of effect going back will have on him.
Coinin is at something of a loss. He is half ready to order the wolf to come home, but he knows that wouldn't really work, "Yes you can...we can wait here until she comes and then we can take the pup with us back home. We have another mother there and I'm sure she would be happy to take care of her as well." He knows that Rayen wouldn't turn down watching or even feeding another pup it just wouldn't be her style, "Tar you need to come home."
More with the home business. He knows all to well how he needs to return home but even with how much his heard about it he still isn't sure if its truely home- to him anyway. Besides, aren't packs suppose to cover a vast area.. Whos to say this area isn't home aswell. So many questions. "Thank you." Is all Tar says as he stands giving a brisk shake of his pelt and turning to the den but does not enter it.
Now finished with the rabbit, Pacific stands and shakes herself. Walking toward the two wolves she says "I know this is probably not my place to suggest, but if you need anything I am here to help"
Coinin is going to have to bring some reinforcements and encourage Tariro to come home. If he can find Niyt she would make the best cadidate for that. Anoki would probably be willing to help too...Lexus if he isn't busy. For the time being there appears to be little that he can do. At the very least he has located him. That is something at any rate. He gives Pacific a smile and a nod, "Thanks." he says. Her intentions seem to be good...he isn't really sure what she can do to help, but its nice that she offered, "Tar I'm going to go home now and see if I can find some help for you. Your neice and nephew will be interested to know you are ok."
So that loaf of a brother had pups afterall.. If anything the thought puts a smile on the wolf's face dispite the current situation. Why is it that he remembers his brother but nothing after that? Maybe it wasn't even his brother he was thinking of but something else he considered to be. Whatever the case he was actually some what excited to possibly meet the two pups. Not paying the dog much attention he nods to Coinin. "Alright. Can't say I'll be here when you return though." He may be out hunting or finding a new place to hide. Who really knows what goes through the mind of this wolf any more.
Coinin sighs, this whole thing is getting way out of control now. How can he let this half crazed wolf be out here on his own. Especially if he is the only care giver for a pup. How could he be sure that he would even care properly for a puppy. How can he even be sure that there is a puppy. He turns around and walks toward Tariro again, "Mind if I take a look at your daughter?" he asks.
At this Pacific's ears perk, but it's really none of her business. This matter is between the wolves. She goes back to her spot in the shade and falls alseep.
Tariro watches Coinin closely as he changes course and now makes his way down the slope toward him and the den. "Why should I do that.. you dont believe theres really a pup do you." He smirks. "You really think I'd make something like that up." He's quite capable of such but why make of a fake family when he could have a real one. "If you really think its necessary then be my guest."
That was just the response he wanted. At the present moment he doesn't really care what Tariro thinks or doesn't think. His main concern at the moment is for the pup and then secondarily for getting the wolf to come home where someone can keep an eye on him at all times and help him raise this pup if need be. He gives the wolf a nod and pokes his head into the den to see what he can see.
Tariro watches the wolf closely as he comes near and pokes his head in to verify things for himself. Tar may not be himself but he's no lier. "Her names Kizhikoni, if your curious." As for him being capable of raising a pup on his own, if indeed it turns out that way, he was quite capable. Moving up behind the wolf, he stops just inches away. "She's not my first you know." he says. "I've three others.. or well I did anyway. Their mother died when they were only pups, leaving me and my brother to raise them." These words are a moment of truth and a sign that the old Tar was still in there somewhere.
Coinin pulls his head out of the den and turns to him, "Yes. I know your children...or at least some of them. Rockfall will be very worried about you all the way out here, and he will want to know tha the has a sister. Gitchi will be worried too." Granted he hasn't seen Gitchi around lately it doesn't mean that she wouldn't be worried or wouldn't want to see her sibling either.
It does not surprise him that Coi would know his children.. they've become quite the wanders. Rockfall was always like his father, carefree and self-kept. Gitchiwaakwe was a surprise; he didn't really know her to well anymore. Then there was Hywel, the pup who died before his time; like his mother. For a moment, Tariro frowns lost in a memory no matter of injury can make him forget. Taking a seat he was quiet just looking at his daughter. "Coinin... you are welcome to stay the night if you want." Then he stands and moves to the young pup; settling once more.

That is something at any rate. He gives Pacific a smile and a nod, "Thanks." he says. Her intentions seem to be good...he isn't really sure what she can do to help, but its nice that she offered, "Tar I'm going to go home now and see if I can find some help for you. So that loaf of a brother had pups afterall.. If anything the thought puts a smile on the wolf's face dispite the current situation. Why is it that he remembers his brother but nothing after that?
