Sanuye, Bristlecone, Pakwa and Caoimhe! Awww. (Dahlia was busy napping!)
---Merging Tributary---
Spring is such a lovely time of the year, lovely little breezes, fresh green grass, flowers and of course plenty of little prey to find if the hunters know where to look. With the pups growing like weeds Sanuye has not left the den for long until just recently. After a quick drink and the sight of a young spring hare that was too close for his own good gave the new mother some time to get her legs stretched. Now she is making her way back to the den carrying the hare with her which she has found is more fur then much else.
There. Are. Puppies! ZOMG! There are puppies, and they're /his/ puppies! He and Sanuye have PUPPIES! Bristlecone has been at the den the entire time Sanuye's been gone, just lying there cuddling them and being entirely enraptured by the sight. They're so little and cute and fluffy and d'awww puppies!
Fluffy and /noisy/. Where's mom? When's dinner? I'm hungry! ... Of course, Pakwa can't talk yet, she can barely see through vaguely open eyes, but boy she can sure squeaka noisily, and that's what she's doing at the moment, squeaking noisily and grumpily. This schmuck who's laying next to her is a FAIL at being mom, an absolute FAIL, because he has no food in him at all, and for that he gets grumpy squeaks and whines and the occasional grasping puppy mouth trying to suck on anything that gets too near. SHE WILL GUM IT WITH A VENGANCE BY GOSH.
Sanuye peers into the den, catching sight of Bristlecone snuggling in with the pups, amusement clearly seen across her face and her tail sways about while she sets the hare down. "So.. Have they gumed you death yet?" She questions with a grin. Her ears perk as she catches the soft whines from their pup, a soft wruffle like sound escaping her to show that mother is back to the little pup.
Bristlecone KNOWS! He's so bad at being a mom. He's such... such... such a BOY! Ohnoes! He nuzzles at the restless Pakwa, trying a song. "~Little frog, little frog..." Uh... how does the rest of it go? Is there even a rest? A MOM would know this! Eep, she's gumming him again. Better come up with something! "~...sitting in... a bog..." Great poetry it is not. But he- oh! It's Sanuye! Bristlecone's bristly tail goes thumpthumpthump against the ground. "Oh! Well... I think she's hungry!" Yes. He's a clever coyote, he is. Figured that part out.
Figured it out eh? What gave it away, the wheedly whines, the squewaks, or the fact that she was willing to clamp on with her mouth to anything that got too close? Probably all three. Pakwa lifts her head a little and begins to urgently squeak now that she's heard mom. MOM IS HERE. FEED MEH DARNIT. Squeak squeak, paddle flail.
Sanuye chuckles as she hears Bristle. "Frog and a bog?" Is questioned as she makes her way on into the den and shifts about on her paws careful of the pups in the process before settling herself down upon her side. "An I'm rather sure she is! Hungrey that is." A wink is offered to Bristle while she grins. She leans over nosing softly at Pakwa and then plucks her up into the air by her scruff and settles the pup down upon her belly so the little one can indeed get something to eat it seems.
Bristlecone is as clever as he is poetic! Uh. Yeah. "Well. It was something like that, anyway," he avers. "I don't really remember the details." Yeah, that's right. Just details were wrong there, instead of the entire attempted song. In an attempt to cover up, Bristlecone busily nuzzles and licks at the other, still-sleeping puppies.
And as soon as she's presented with food, Pakwa responds by nomming hungrilly. Mom is here, lunch is ready, puppy is happy.
"I thought it was cute." Sanuye offers while she looks over to Bristlecone once Pakwa goes about nursing and is calmed down at least. Her tail wags about a few times. "There cute arn't they?" Well of course they are, fluffy little BristleSanuye pups will always be cuteness!
Adorable! All of them! They get it from their mother, yes. Bristlecone's tail thumps again, and he gently nudges the rest of the pups over to join little Pakwa against Sanuye's belly. If they're not hungry, they will be. He's learned that about puppies already. Always with the hungry! Once the youngsters are settled, he scoots in closer and lies just on the other side of them, making a puppy-nest with his own body and Sanuye's. Mmm. He leans over and licks her cheek. "Did you enjoy your walk?"
Sanuye giggles softly as she hears Bristlecone and soon nuzzles thw two other sleeping pups while Pakwa soon calms down. "Of course she did. See? all happy." This said while she leans over to give Bristle's cheek a nuzzling as her tail swaying about happly. "I caught a hare while I was out, mostly fluff though."
Caoimhe stretches and yawns. Today has been extremely lazy, just the way Caoimhe likes it.
Okay, good! Sanuye knows how to do that... food... thing for puppies. Bristlecone knew it, of course, but it's good to see it confirmed, because just imagine if she didn't! That would be tragic and sad and other things. He nuzzles down at Pakwa... looks like she's starting to drift off to sleep in between suckles. Sleepyhungry pup! Bristlecone grins, and nods up to Sanuye. "I'll go hunting for us later, see if I can find something with more meat." He frowns briefly. "Did you smell any wolves? I thought I did earlier..." And, while he's been fine with wolves in the past, he'd really rather not have them too close to his brand new puppies just yet! Speaking of, Caoimhe seems to be waking up, and he nuzzles her gently.
Sanuye smiles as she watches Pakwa and gives the little pup a few licks across her head. "Sleep well dearest." She murmurs softly to the pup. "Alright, that sounds good to me." Beause feeding three hungrey pups makes mommmy very hungrey herself! "Wolves?.. I caught the scent on the passing breeze but nothing around the den at least." She sends a worried glance to the pups at the talk of wolf, her ears lowering a moment. "Hopfully they won't want to bother us." At the squeaking of another pup she is soon back to smiling and leans down nosing at Caoimhe. "Did your sister wake you, its alright." Is murmured out.
Caoimhe looks up and her parents and squeaks sleepily.
Bristlecone nods to what Sanuye says about the wolves, considering. "It wasn't all that close, but... closer than I remembered them coming. Maybe they just got lost hunting." Maybe. He'll certainly be very careful until he figures it out! His own hide is one thing to take risks with, but puppies are another matter entirely. They're just so... so... puppies! Yes. They are so puppies is what they are. Awwww. Considering coyote frown turns into a smile as he watches them.
Caoimhe wiggles around trying to make sense of the world...
Sanuye nods slightly while she watches the pups a few moments longer an soon takes in a soft breath. A smile slides across her muzzle and she lowers her head to nuzzle and press a few licks aross Caoimhe's head and ears. "Well, lets try and not give them any reason to stick around for too long." She doesn't like the idea of wolves being near the den.
Bristlecone continues to watch the pups, and nods his head firmly to Sanuye. "If I find any, I'll tell 'em there's good hunting elsewhere. And that there are bears here. And that the sky's going to fall down and only I can survive it, on account of my fur being so nicely red. And that the water holds a mighty monster that has enslaved me." All that. At once! Maybe with other things besides.
Caoimhe continues to wiggle akwardly
Apparently, being mom to puppies is nearly as tiring as being a puppy - for Sanuye's drifted off to a nap. Bristlecone watches fondly for a few moments, then nuzzles all four of the loveliest girls in his life before slipping off to hunt!
