Two-River Fork
Tariro m. Wolf (alpha)
Coinin m. Wolf (beta)
---------------------------
Its fair to see that Tariro has been travel between the brook and the fork, keeping track of his daughter and those who he happened to find inbetween. Course He didn't find many along the way, which saved him the time of making sure they were still safe. Back at the fork now, the old wolf has settled at its bank starring down at its waters with a blank expression over his face, giving thought over the few things he wanted to address his second on.
Coinin has been roaming around after hearing about the dogs. He hasn't really sensed anything as he has been out on patrol which has been a good thing. He even managed to track down Niyt and talk to her a bit. They had been in search of Tariro but had been unable to find him at that time. Niyt had had the interesting idea that Tar should bring his daughter by to play with Rayen and Lex's daughter. At the present time he is wandering back to the fork and quick enough spots Tar there. He is pleased to see him back home, "Hey Tar. How are you doing?"
Tariro looks up only when his name is heard, addressing its own with a rather faint smile. Being the one he hoped to find later, he is spared yet again that time. Standing up, the wolf stretching his limbs; a few pops from several joints sound before resettling. "Coinin." He nods. "I'm well thank you. Hows yourself?" Dipping his head to the river, he drinks gazing onto his surface then out across the way to the opposite bank.
Coinin wanders a bit closer and once he is near enough to talk comfortably he settles himself down and gives a bit of a shrug, "I've been keeping an eye out for those dogs that were messing with the Ute. I haven't really come across anything yet. Apparently Anoki is out looking for Jatya. I'm hoping that he finds her soon and comes home. Other than that things have been quiet."
Tariro nods to this and didn't actually expect Coinin to find one of these dogs. He'd prefer the pack just stay away from them and not go searching for the sake of safty. "Quiet is often a good thing." He says lifting his head from the waters when joined. "Though it can also be a thing of worry, I do not think we'll find ourselves doing so." If the dogs where to come this way they'd of done it already. If they are just waiting for the opportune time, they'll be sorely diappointed in their findings. Shaking his coat free is natures debris, the talk of dogs brings the white wolfs first order of business to hand. Turning to Coinin he says, "I've been thinking of the day we spoke of moving the pack.." A short pause. "I think it should be you who leads them there." He would, but age has become his downfall and he no longer thinks himself capable.
Coinin is also very pleased that the dogs have not decided to take a turn over in this direction. He'd rather not go looking for trouble as well. If the dogs decide to come this way, there really isn't very much that they can do about it. Which is why he agreed with Tariro in the first place about moving the pack. When Tariro asks him about moving the pack and leading them there he blinks a bit. He doens't really know where he plans on taking them. If there is a place Tariro has in mind he would certainly like his guidance on it, "I can do that...but do you have an idea where we should go?" he asks.
It brings further pause from the white wolf that the beta has no sights on a particular place to relocate. For now it was still up to Tariro where that place could be, but it saddens him to know the one he'd have replace him has not thought further on the subject and chosen a location himself. A sigh escaping the elder he turns from Coinin. "I had hoped you'd have a suggestion." That not the case, Tar turns his gaze south. "I would see us to the mountains. Though I leave it up to you to decide where is best."
Coinin has a few ideas of course but as always he has deferred to Tariro. He had told Niyt pretty much the same thing the other day. He has never wanted to seem like he was trying to take control of things that weren't his to be in charge of, "I think that we can start by going to the base of the mountains..and beyond that we can cross to the other side and find a quiet spot to weather things out. Once we are there we can regroup and have a safe place for the puppies. I suppose Ute could come with us if they'd like. I know they have puppies too."
But it is just that, that Tariro wants. He wouldn't be alpha forever and another then would have to step up to run things. This he hoped would be the packs present beta. If he was not ready then things were more dire here in the pack then he knew. A nod is given to what is said, at least grateful that Coinin has a plan of action dispite lacking the confidence to act of them. "Then that is what we shall do." Tar wanted to see him lead. If he had to follow him about and provide encouragement then he'd do that.
Coinin is more than willing to lead, but definitely wants to have a clear sign that Tariro is ready to step down and begin to enjoy his retirement with his daughter. He watches him closely, "Tar are you saying that you want to step down?" he asks. Might as well just come out and ask. If that was the case then matters were different. He is more than ready to lead in that respect.
Tariro looks to his friend and it taken by his bluntness. "I've had my time, Coinin." He says. "Its times to appoint a new to continue on in my stead. As beta its it falls to you." No others have shown interest in his title that he is aware of so of course he looks to Coi with shoes to fill. "You've shown yourself capable. This task should prove you are ready." He is not giving up his job just yet, he's just simply shareing it till the right time.
Coinin nods his head slowly. Well he had known that this day was coming. It had been coming for a long time. He isn't really sure how he feels about it. Being alpha means that you are responsible to everyone and everything. Its definitely a tough job that Tariro has had all these years, "I say that we gather everyone together then and start heading toward the mountains tomorrow. We can ask Ute if they want to join is. I suspect that they will want to come with us for safety. It would be good for the puppies too. They could all play together."
It was certainly an idea and he'd push for it so long as it remained a suitable one. "Alright." Is said with a nod. "Let me know if you'd like help with getting everyone together." Tar wasn't much for physical stuff anymore, but he was more than capable of lending his voice. "The Ute will surely follow. These are our lands.. I do not see them occupying it without our presence." The pups could use the interaction too, this he agrees on.
Coinin takes a moment to think about that. It should work well. He sees no reason to believe that it wouldn't be a workable plan, "Ok then. I think we need to find Niyt, Anoki and Jatya and see if we can track down anyone else. I think everyone can pitch in with this. Once we get everyone here we can tell Ute and start down to the mountains." At least it seems like a good enough plan for the moment. They can change things as needed, "I'm sure the moms won't be happy with having to move the pups but I don't see us having much choice."
Grudges over moving will be dealt with when the time comes- knowing what its like to be asked to move before being ready. Its why he was reluctant to leave the brook; to take his daughter to a place he could barely remember. "I'm sure they will understand." Mentioning this to Kiz's mother was going to be an interesting one- getting her to come along another. Peering out toward the north, he hmms then turns back. "For now, lets just get everyone together, we'll worry about how to move everyone after."
