Gomati - Rogue wolf
------------------------------------------
It is evening there is a new wolf in the area. This particular stranger is chasing after a rabbit for her meal and just misses. Growling out in frustration having not eaten in a while.
Evenings are probably the worse times of day in the undergrowth. The summer heat lays trapped in the foliage forcing most life to spring out into the open unprotected. At the edge of the undergrowth a commonly seen wolf sits in waiting or least she would be if not for some growling. Looking to her companion first, still asleep, she shifts her gaze as a rabbit springs past her.
Askuwheteau slowly pads through the trees, silently lifting his nose to try and catch the scents of the two she-wolves that he hears moving about. The growl makes his ears perk in curiosity. But he soon figures out it is a growl of frustration and not the beginnings of a fight. So he remains hidden and pushes his face through the foliage, watching the young huntresses working their craft with a smirk. He remembered his own days of learning to hunt and the irritations that came with it.
Gomati continues to chase after the rabbit noticing the other female not saying anything she's had a bad day already. So the last thing the rogue needs is to strike up a conversation with some one she does not know or wants to for that matter. Eating is the former pack member's only goal at the moment and tries to leap at the rabbit and once again missing her prey. Then finally gives up and sits down on the ground.
Althaea watches the rabbit for a moment, ears perking. What an opportunity, yet she lets it slip by stepping aside as its attacker comes charging by in a second go. This she watches, head shaking at the failure. There are plenty of rabbit in this area, several she's caught already, why not do the girl a favor. Moving from her spot, 'Thaea picks up one of her earlier catches and gives it a good throw toward the rogue.
Askuwheteau watches for a bit, observing the rogue's miss, and then the generosity of his niece. He softly murmurs to himself with closed eyes, "Mother, you would be proud of our young wolves. In spite of all our hardship the spirit of Ute is still strong." He smiles to himself then, thinking about making himself known, but deciding to watch for just a moment longer, curious as to the rogue female's reaction to the kind gesture.
Gomati looks at the rabbit then towards the other female digging her claws in the ground. "What is that for?" She asks while emitting a soft growl. Wondering what the other female has in mind not knowing whether Althaea can be trusted and waits for the response knowing that the gracious offering was meant for her but still the rogue has to keep her wits and guard up just in case.
Giving the hare just meant Althaea cared enough to sacrifice a bit of hard work in order to help. However, the first impression she gets of this rogue was that she didn't want the help. Something she was more then glad to accept. "Go on, take it." She responds calmly.
Askuwheteau watches for a few seconds more before he interrupts, slowly stepping out of the bushes nearby, ambling towards the two females before remarking softly, "The Ute do not turn away wolves who could use our kindness. Even as diminished as we are, if we are able to help, we try." He did not walk too close, not wanting to make the rogue feel as if she were being crowded or surrounded. He sits down, in plan view and several yards away from the other two.
Gomati blinks her eyes when the male shows up then swallows and looks a little uneasy. "Thank you." She says in a soft voice then starts to eat the hare that was offered to her. The rogue did not want the help then stops for a moment. "So this is the Ute pack lands?" Her voice is soft letting her shyness show through not really wanting to talk to these strangers it seems though there is no choice other than doing just that.
Althaea wasn't to sure about that.. a regular day would have her judging the wolf before her. A weak wolf just wasn't worth her time, however this one she wasn't sure about. Small, thin... could be many reasons for that. She'll give the rogue a chance for now. Shifting her position, the presence of her uncle draws her attention to the wolf emerging from the bushes. "Uncle." Clearly surprised to see him here. Looking back to the rogue she nods. "Sort of, yes." Its still unclear where exactly the Ute border extends.
Askuwheteau nods to his brother's pup in greeting, "Althaea, I hope the day finds you well?" He then regards the rogue again, "What is your name female? I am Askuwheteau, my little brother is the Alpha of this pack. How did you come to be here on our borders?"
Gomati digs her claws in the ground and shrugs, "My name is Gomati. I left the pack I was born in to and came here chasing my prey which was not successful. I will finish my meal then be on my way. I did not mean to disturb you or wander into your lands."
Althaea smiles in regard to Asku. "As well as ever, uncle." For the time being that is, things could always be better. Perked ears listen to Asku address the rogue in question, blinking a few times to the response given. Surely her uncle could of gone about a little less demanding sounding. "Technically you have not wandered into them at all, Gomati." She states in a much more welcoming tone. "And you are not disturbing. We welcome all in good graces, plus this place could use some new faces from outside." Friendly faces that is; the packs had enough violence to last them years.
Gomati fixes her attention on Althaea. "I am sorry if my actions were rude." She says sincerely. Then lets out a soft yawn. "Thank you again for giving me something to eat. I am just tired and have not eaten in a while. I did not want your help but it was appreciated. I thought there was something in it for you for giving me something to eat." Then blinks her eyes trying to stay awake.
Althaea slowly head shakes. "Its alright and your welcome." Knowing the she-wolf didn't want the help, she did it anyway. She didn't expect anything in return either, just a simple thanks and she got that. Settling to her haunches, Gomati's yawn brings another kind gesture. "How about you stay here tonight, get some worry free rest. Maybe in the morning another hare will be waiting for you." She smiles to this hopping she'll stay.
Gomati looks over towards Althaea. "I would like that." She admits. "Thank you again." The rogue says not saying anything else she's not used to being treated like this so it's a new feeling for her. "I am going to try to get some sleep now." Gomati lays down on the ground closing her eyes and falls asleep right away.
Althaea nods bidding the wolf some decent sleep. Waiting a moment before doing anything else, she stands once Gomati is asleep. Turning to the lone hare, picking it up, she heads towards her companion to rest herself.
