Scene
Although her life is far from perfect, Johari feels like she couldn't ask for anything else in order to be happy. Out here all by herself with the fox she loves... could things possibly get any better? The simple answer to that is, yes. Despite everything she has here, the last few days have brought up a serious bout of home sickness to the foxgirl, the home where she grew up amongst wolves. She had pretty much spent her entire life there until she accidentally stumbled upon Akseli and Cocle. Now all those memories are staring to come back to her, especially the ones she spent with her 'mother' Hali. Letting out a long sigh, Johari plops down onto her stomach and stares at the forest as she has been for the past few minutes now, out to a place she once called home.
It was chilly out, a fresh layer of snow, and a memory that could only place Akseli on the bad end of the deal. Last time it was this season, he was just a kit and feared the idea that was snow. What was is capable of, what was it, how long would it last. There were so many questions, questions he'd no longer need to ask himself. He know what it all was now, but with old questions gone, new ones where bound to show up. Near one of the trees, a bad idea for sure, the fox pick up his friends look of sorrow. Tilting his head in concern, he moves up behind her, giving a light poke his his nose. "Something bothering you?" he questions, before looking out in the direction she stares.
Johari gives a small start to the sudden feel of something poking her from behind, but is soon comforted by the sound of Akseli's voice. Was it really that hard to see she was upset? Moving up to a sitting position besides her friend, the foxgirl gives him a few, loving licks before saying, "Oh, I'll be ok." It's plainly obvious from her tone that something is on her mind, but she doesn't want to worry Akseli about it or anything.
Akseli brushes his head up against Johari's backside just before she sits up, tilting his head back not to sure he can believe her. Moving up to her front, to face her he questions, "You sure.. its not something I've done is it?" Not that he believes he's done anything to upset her, but anything was possible.
"No no, not at all!" she quickly corrects him, giving him a light nuzzle to reassure him. He could never do anything to upset her. She loves him too much for that to happen. "It's just..." she trails off, suddenly finding a small lump in her throat. This shouldn't be this hard to say! "...I miss my home," she finally says after a moment of prolonged silence.
Akseli has suspected not, but he has to ask. Nuzzling her back, an affection he loved, he looks at her afterward in waiting. It was what.. he hmms to himself be hears what really bothering her. "Oh, I'm.. sorry." His gaze reverts to the ground. She was likely to tell him he didn't need to be sorry, but it was really his fault she was still here.
Johari gently taps her head under his and nuzzles his chest when he drops his head. "You don't have to be Akseli. I wouldn't trade my time up here with anything. After all, I met you up here," she adds, a small murr starting to make itself audible as she presses her head closer to his chest. "I love you Akseli so much and nothing is ever going to change that. I'm just a little homesick is all."
Akseli nods slowly looking up. "I know, and I'm glad you won't. But I don't want to be the reason you can't return home.' he says giving her a light lick to the face. If there was anything he could do to releave this homesick feeling he'd gladly do it. Seeing her sad like this just tears him up. "If you want to go, then you should go." He says this only cause he loves her, even though it pains to even had said that.
As happy as she is to hear him say that, something in his tone suggests to the foxgirl that something else is on his mind. Pulling her head out from under him, she gives him a small lick before saying, "I want you to come with me Aks. I mean, if you want to." It was her plan from the start to have him come along with her so he could meet Hali. Besides, if he /doesn't/ come with her, then she might think about not heading home to stay with him. He's just too important to her to leave behind.
Akseli was about to say that he'd be fine without her, a lie in his own sense, but then blinks at her offer. Go with her, what reason does he not to. Putting on a smile, he tells her, "Of course I want to. Without you here, what else would there by left." Her scent alone would drive him to miss her and he couldn't have that. He wanted her to go, so she'd be happy, and if him going with her was going to accomplish that, there was no way he'd stay behind.
Johari's smile only widens as Akseli accepts her offer to come with her. As much as she wants to see Hali again, the trip would certainly be a lot lonelier without him. But it looks like she won't have to worry about that after all. She places her head under his head again and nuzzles his chest, her murring now definitely audible. "Thank you Akseli. It means a lot to me that you want to come. I love you."
Akseli smiles wide as he sees her happy, even if its only for the time being. He wanted to acknowledge her thanks in a 'welcome' but the only words he could find to say were, "I love you too." in return. He then thought about what it would be like to see Johari's home, or old home, whatever it was now. He'd only meet one wolf in his life, meeting another just worried him even if this one was considered family to Johari. "What did you plan on leaving?" he says out of the blue.
Just hearing him say those words at her... it's enough to make her melt where she stands. Three simple words, 'I love you.' The foxgirl had said that to Hali plenty of times before and has certainly heard it back from the wolf, but hearing Akseli say it--the fox she loves-- it's on a whole different scale. Keeping her head pressed up against his chest, she continues to murr softly, only interrupted by her saying, "Well I was hoping to leave soon, but there's no rush. I mean, if there's anything you wanted to get done before we go then I don't mind." As much as she want to see Hali, Johari has absolutely no objections about waiting a bit if Akseli has anything on his mind.
Was there anything that he needed to do before they left... he thinks then head shakes. Nope, nothing. The winter had pretty much destroyed everything of value. "Your the only thing that need my attention." he tells her, "And this trip." If there was anything he was worried about it was the weather fouling up and making thing impossible for the both of them. "I am ready when you are."
Aww he is just so sweet! If it wasn't for how much she wants to see Hali, Johari would seriously consider staying here and extra day just to be alone and close with Akseli. However, it's her overwhelming desire to see the wolf she still calls her mother that gets her to separate from him and get to her paws. Before she does move, though, Johari leans in and gives the male a long and loving lick on his cheek, just to try to convey how thankful she is and how much she loves him. "Alright then, lets go," she says, sounding very perky and excited. Lazuli here they come!
Akseli was more than ready to go, in fact if it where up to him, they'd be long gone already. Okay, so maybe they wouldn't but the idea had crossed his mind. Standing up as she says lets go, he looks back at the Orchard and is sure going to miss it. Its was his own, where everything seemed to happen... hopefully it'll be the same when they return. Looking back to Johari, he's caught by surprise from the lick to his cheek. He smiles at her before licking back. "Lets go."
She has no doubt they'll be back once everything is taken care of. After all, this is pretty much their new home now. And with her flower tucked safely between her right ear, they'll both always have something to remember it by. So once she's done smiling by the lick he gives her, the foxgirl turns around and starts to head off towards the place where she had grown up, making sure to walk right besides Akseli for some added warmth but also because she likes being close to him.
Akseli isn't to far behind and is soon beside Johari in a joyous walk toward the forest. For the first time he would be leaving home for a place he knew nothing about, but he'd be doing it next to someone who'd been there before.
