Terri - Female Fox
Therdde - Male Duck
Yoki - Female Rabbit
- Dense Undergrowth -
Terri is on the hunt looking aroundfor a good meal or at the very least an animal that might have information on braxton. she sighs as she keeps well hidden knowing wolves are nerby she dont wanna be spoted by them she decides to sneak off towards the creek
Searching for Terri has not been an easy process. Therdde is actually beginning to consider returning to the lake for the night, but in the meantime, he is hungry, thirsty, and altogether to dry for his tastes. He maves a dive toward the water, and he lands with an impressive splash near the edge of the water, where the current is not as strong, and cquickly turns himself upside down to get a mouthful of plants and water.
Terri spots the duck near the edge of the water she aproches him carefull not to be seen she wonders if she may capture and use this duck somehow to find braxton? if not he will make a fantastic meal. she waits in her hidding spot next to the edge. just a bit closer she thinks as she waits for him to come closer to her
Therdde is not foolish. It would take somehting drastic to happen in the water before he would abandon it for shore, and even then, he would be more likely to take to the air. He surfaces again, swallowing the mouthful of plants. His satisfaction does not last long, though, and affter a breath, he upends himself twice more before he finally takes a good look around from ground level.
Terri keeps low as she guesses the bird wont come any closer she will hafta wait for him to go for another mouthfull then strike. she is a fairly good swimmer but she is pretty sure it might not be good to pounce him with him being in that deep of water. she thinks ad decides screw it I pounce him anyway if she manages to get his neck she will have a chance to at least pull him to shore or if he prooves too dificult kill him. but if he manages to get away at least she get a little entertainment for the day
Unfortunately for Terri, she waited too long. Therdde has already taken a look around, and while his hearing is not sufficient to let him hear the sounds of her moving or breathing, he spotted the fur that contrasts the color of the undergrowth drastically. Not attempting to keep what he says from being heard, he speaks. "Stupid foxes. I think all of them suffer from the same affliction."
Terri curses her self for waiting too long seeing him notice her she sighs and says "so I am stupid eh well why is that. what affiliation do we suffer from bird brain" she is not exactly in the best of moods
"The affliction of not being able to see when others are truly superior than you. Of not realizing which animals you should not even try to eat." Therdde says this in a very off-handed manner. His earlier anger when dealing with Braxton is well and truly gone.
Terri smiles and retorts "so says the bird who is stuck gorging on pond scum while we enjoy gorging on ducks" she gives a bit of a sly smile saying "it is a shame you where not an eagle that is a truelly majestic bird. probably smarter too" she toys with the duck
Therdde shakes his head. For that male wolf's sake, and the sake of her daughter, he hopes this is not his mate. And, without delaying any further, he asks, "Are you Terri, or do you know a fox named Terri?" Their bad luck may be his good luck. If nothing else, he would be rather tempted to return to Braxton and tell him of his mate's threats toward him, just to further torture the foxes.
Terri tilts her eyebrow and says "hmm how do you know my name duck and yet I now nothing of you but your insulting nature?" she sort of shakes her self and says "you might find me friendlier if you would return the favor I dislike being called stupid"
"I know your name because your /stupid/ mate asked that I pass on word of your daughter. Now, though, I do not see that I have any reason to do so." Therdde has no desire to befriend predators. He doesn't care if they are friendly or not. Either way, he is confident of his ability to remain alive.
Terri suddenly says "my daughter what news you bring then?" in a moment everything else is forgoten as she waits for the information to be passed
"You do not hear very well, do you? I have just said that I see no reason why I ought to tell you, so unless you can provide me with such a reason, I think I will simply be on my way." Therdde's demeanor remains entirely serious, even if he is having fun with this.
Terri looks at him and says "oh so I suppose you will be heading back to my mate you must be tired from crossing the river though" seeing if she can get him to talk a bit with out realizing it
"You haven't given me a reason yet, and I'm bored now." Therdde stretches out his wings, as though preparing to fly away. "If I happen to see your mate, I'll let him know of your disregard for the news of your daughter. I don't think I'll be going that way, though."
Terri suddenly realizes this ducks not going to fall for it and she says "wait I am sorry. I did not think you would give me the information any ways. I know I am probably wastying my breath but what is it you want in exchange?" she sorta wonders why this bird is helping them
Therdde already saw a fox beg today. While predators humbling themselves is always entertaining, Therdde wants some variety. "I told you I was bored. I want to be entertained. How do you think you might do that?" Therdde is not normally this cruel, really, but then, that may just be because he does not normally have something predators want so badly.
Terri is left feeling helpless she says "you damn duck what is it you want me to do. how can you be so cruel as to do this to a mother" she lays down and says "what is it that would amuse you duck?"
"You're cursing me? How very... Unwise..." Therdde lets that hang between them, for a moment, then says, "I want to see you admit your foolishness... But not just to me. I already know of your faults. No, we must find another. One who might be scared of you. One who could pass it on." Is Therdde asking for trouble? Absolutely. But, as he said, he is /bored/.
Terri bite her tongue and says "what if I knew something about your mate would you want me to play games with you?" she doubts this bird has a conscios but she says "fine I will admit I am foolish for your entertainment but remember bird quite often things have a way of comming back to haunt us" she looks around and says "I dont see anyone who you might want me to confess to"
"If you had news of my mate, it would only be that you had filled your stomach with her." And what does Therdde care, besides? Mallards keep their mates only for a single year, and drakes have nothing to do with the ducklings. "You stay here, fox. I shall find someone for you to make your confession to." And, with that, Therdde takes off into flight, to look for an appropriate animal to bring back here.
Somewhere around the clearing is a female hare that is looking around for any signs of predators. Yoki is alone at the moment and needing some time alone to get some fresh air. Clearly if any one looks they can see her standing out in the open.
Again, Therdde flies fairly close to the ground, and it does not take him long to spot a lone hare. After spotting her, he lowers himself further, though he does not land. "Hello there!" Unlike when he was speaking to the foxes, his voice is perfectly civil, now.
Terri sighs and says "hmmph very well get your choice" she is almost at her wits end with this duck he seems to enjoy torminting her and takes pleasure in poking fun with her. she sighs right now he has her as helpless as can be
Yoki freezes where she is and quickly turns to face the duck. "Hello there." The hare returns Therdde's greeting not saying anything else at the moment just waiting to see what the duck is going to do.
Therdde remains in the air. He has not had sufficient time to check the ground for predators. As he flies, he says, "If you are interested in seeing something fun, you should follow me to a nearby fox. Do not worry, though. I have her well-trained." Yes, this is /quite/ amusing.
Terri sighs and sits down hoping the bird to return soon she sighs and wonders how long his games are going to continue for
Yoki blinks her eyes when she hears the Therdde's words she then offers a slight nod of her head. "I will follow you." She answers. "I do have a question. What do you mean you have her well-trained?" Curiosity getting the better off her with the drake's words.
Therdde begins flying back toward where he left Terri, moving as slowly as he can. "I mean she will not cause you any harm. She will do as I have told her." And having that kind of power over a predator, no matter how he gained it... How could /any/ animal with a diet made primarily of plants not delight in that?
Terri sighs and is quite frequently wondering if the bird plans to return she wonders how much more of this she is going to hafta put up with
Yoki follows Therdde as he leads the way back to where he left the fox. "Alright." She calls out to him while keeping up not wanting to get lost in the area.
Therdde spots Terri, looking rather impatient, and grins as he comes to land in the water again. "I am glad to see that you are so eager to do as I have requested, Terri." With that, he turns to look for Yoki's arrival.
Terri sighs and says "like I have a choice lets just get this game of yours over with" she lays down and says "I am worried enough as it is about my young one"
Yoki enters the area and spots Terri as well and starts to shiver a little in fear out of habbit. Even though she knows that she should not be affraid. She does not introduce herself or anything. Just wanting to see what it is exactly that the duck wanted to bring her here for any way.
"Well, you can start by telling the hare of how you foolishly delayed the chance to hear about her, then. Her she comes now." Now, all Therdde has to do is watch the show play out. Surely, if he were capable of grinning, his grin would be a mile wide.
Terri watches as a familliar hare strolls out towards her she looks a bit questionable and then says "I am waiting for her to get closer if she is too far away she might not hear it and IO would hate to have to repeat myself"
Yoki blinks her eyes a little as she nervously makes her way over towards the fox. "Tell me about what?" She asks not sure what is going on or what the hare got herself into waiting for the answer so she will understand what's going on a lot better.
As Yoki approaches, Therdde warns, "Do not compound your foolishness by harming her, or you may never learn of your daughter's fate." Besides that, he is silent, letting Terri go about pleasing him as she wishes.
Terri smiles and says "hello yoki how have you been and lucido how is he?" she sighs and sortof then nods to the bird very well she thinks then whispers "I will explain later" then says loud enough for any nerby to hear plainly " I am a very foolish fox and stupid and ignorasnt and this bird has mastered me by his wits and cunning knowing things about my familly he holds over my head so he can show my foolishness" her tones a tad sarcastic but she then says "satisfied?"
Yoki blinks her eyes a little then whispers, "Hello. I am alright so is Lucido." She says then offers the fox a slight nod. Then turns to face Therdde to see what he is going do now without saying anything else at the moment.
"Oh, tsk tsk, Terri. I'd rather hoped for details. I know you predators don't have much of a mind for such things, but really now. You almost make me sound like the bad guy here, instead of like a planteater who actually had the means to /defend/ himself, and used those means. I suppose it will have to do, though." Yes, Therdde /will/ pass along his news. He always intended to, after all.
Terri sighs as she is glad he wil accept that at least she now looks and listens to him with her ears perked waiting for news of her mate and daughter she smiles at yoki and waits for the bird to pass her the news she had to jump through hoops for
Yoki turns to face Terri then back towards Therdde keeping her attention on the duck for now still not being very talkative. But she's glad that some stuff is finally starting to make sense to her.
"Your mate asked that I tell you that he has found your daughter, but that she is ill. She cannot chance crossing the river until she is well again, or else until the water levels fall again." And, thus, Therdde's entertainment potential is none. He has fulfilled his purpose. And returning to the lake seems an excellent idea.
Terri nods and sighs a bit releaved she says "very well I owe you my gratitude thank you " she wants to call him an asshole but decides letting the duck leave will make her feel a whole lot better
Yoki keeps her attention on Therdde still as she asks, "Is that what you wanted me to see or was there something else you wanted off me?" She asks him before turning to face Terri and whispers to her, "You do need to tell me what that was about."
"I want others to know how predators in general, and this one specifically, will threaten, curse, and deceive even those prey species that have come to help them. Pass it on, Yoki." A stroke of luck, that these two apparently knew each other? It certainly made the whole thing more entertaining for Therdde. "Though at least this one has better manners than her mate."
Terri whispers "I will explain it better when he leaves" she smiles and says "well you have given your message why not go rest in the pond and leave me and my friend here alone"
Yoki whispers to Terri, "Alright." She says then turns back to face Therdde. "What if I do not decide to pass it on?" She asks the duck apparently she wants to know what is wrong with the duck not sure what he has against Terri or her mate.
"Just trust me. One day, she will hunger, or she will be angry, and you will see, then, how good a friend she is. Mark my words." Bored once more, though, Therdde takes Terri's 'advice'. He again takes to flight, though he most definitely does not turn to go to the pond. No, he will wait until he gets back to the lake to sleep.
