Snowy - female adol. coyote.
Jade - female cougar.
Wind-Blown Lowlands
===============================================================
Tall, flowing grasses extend in every direction here, rolling hills rising up toward the mountains in the south. Down from the craggy precipices churns a nearly constant flow of air, rippling gently through the tall, thick grasses. The nearly unending winds cause the few small trees that have taken root here to bend slightly, as though they are simply too tired to continue their unending stretch toward the sun's merciful rays.
That is not to say this place is uninviting or somber. The yellow-green grasses are randomly interrupted by the aforementioned small trees, and the occasional taller tree which has managed to defy the windy onslaught to reach higher, providing shade for those below, and lodging for the tree-bound above. The perpetual currents of air cause the clouds above to tumble and wisk by, creating strange and dappled shadows on the land below as they pass over the sun, and in this windswept land, thunderheads roll in unexpectedly to dump a deluge upon the denizens before moving off as it arrived.
===============================================================
Amongst the thick grasses that grow so abundantly in the area can be seen an unusual splotch of unmatching color. Apparently unconcerned with attempting to hide her presence, the cougaress Jade lies on her belly, forepaws extended before her and tail swishing against the grass lazily. Despite her overall nonchalant appearance, she's by no means unobservant. With a slow, scanning gaze her emerald eyes capture the scenery around her; highly patient, yet always waiting.
The unobservant one was the one oddly looking very observant. She was observing, she was staring about at the lovely landscape of grasses and boulders and the such which were around here. In her current mode the large /obviously/ cougar creature laying but twenty yards away from her current position has been filed away for now under feline shaped boulder as she simply took in the scene intent on heading towards the waterfall pool towards the northwest. She had lost Kuruk once again and was intent to go see this pool until she found him a gain.
If the wanderer nearby had been lucky in her life, that luck had run out this one particular day that she decided to stride past a rather large cat. For all though the two creatures were a good distance from each other, and should have remained that way had not the wind from the mountains carried the coyote's scent directly at the cougaress, Jade had been idle for a decent amount of time as of now, and was beginning to grow restless. The fact that someone was nearby drew her attention swiftly, and she swivels her head around to glance in the direction of the musk. Then, silently, she gets to her paws, and begins to pad towards that direction, intent on finding something to entertain her this -now- lovely afternoon.
Snowy was sniffing about and also keeping an eye out for prey as she was looking at the scenery. Then she noted the giant boulder was moving but looks at how pretty those trees over there are- wait a minute.. Her head whips as she looks at the boulder and to her horror she realizes its a/huge/ cat and not a rock at all. Tensing up she starts to back away from the huge approaching cat unable to help the whimper that escapes her as she fears the cat wants something like maybe to /eat/ her. "H...he..heello.." She manages to stammer out obviously full of fear as she trys to back away at a similar pace.
A coyote. Tough to eat, yet often don't put up -too- much of a fight. That is, if you know how to fight them. Jade is impressively skilled in the art of studying her prey; knowing your target's strengths, weaknesses, habits.. it ultimately proves entirely worth her while. While each creature is different, the cougaress has no doubt that this fearful young coyote before her would be one of the easiest kills she's ever had the pleasure of making. This knowledge allows her the peace of mind to, instead of merely parting the creature soul from body at this second, perhaps let the she-'yote to provide some amusement. "Well met, friend," the cougaress murmurs in a low, rich tone. "May I ask how a young coyote like yourself is all alone out here? Are you not aware of the danger you could be in, should you meet the wrong type of creature?"
Snowy is continuing to back away as she is studied, she is ready to use her flight instinct knowing she might have speed on this cougress, and knowledge of the area. But then she starts to talk, which the cougress could see cause the she-yote to visibly relax a bit though still backing away/ "W...welll my f..friend Kuruk ran off and I..i can't find him." She says with a frown and fear still predominant in her voice. So far nothing seems off and she seems willing enough to tell the Cougaress what she wants to know.
When the canine obviously loses some of her inital anxiety, Jade can't help but feel a hint of satisfaction. This will turn out to be much easier than first anticipated. "Your friend Kuruk?" The cougaress pauses in her steps, as if considering the name. "I'm afraid I'm not familiar with him, but I will be sure to let him know I came across you searching for him, should I meet with him at some point," she replies, charitably enough. Then, as if the idea struck her suddenly, the cat utters a quiet, chuckling sound and gives the canine a disarming smile, "Though, I should know of your name, in that case. What may it be?"
Snowy blinks a bit, obviously a little confused. This cougress's eyes seemed to scream death and pain, but they way she was asking was nice. Slowly she seems to relax more and even stops trying to back away looking at the huge cougaress wiith a curious gaze. "M...my name is Snowy.." She offers meekly, obviously still nervous.. "W..who are you miss?" she says respectfully, her head lowering in a submissive way towards the large cougaress. If she knew much of canines she would figure out that it was a submissive way of course.
"Ah, Snowy," the feline rumbles in her unique voice, casting her emerald eyes over the coyote. Searching. The canine isn't big by any means, not even full grown, yet she has potential. Unmarked by scars, untainted by any strength- or agility-resisting wounds. After only a brief moment of scanning Snowy, Jade returns her gaze to the innocent, slightly bewildered face. "I am Jade; my irises betray my identity." No need to employ any dark anonymity. Inclining her head to the side, the cougaress arches an eyebrow. "Are you not aware that searching out here alone could be a grave mistake? Perhaps you would care for companionship. I am idle here; I would not mind joining you." As far as Snowy knows.
Snowy blinks a bit as she nods at her. She should have guessed her name would surround those eyes of hers, they being the main thing her eyes had been attracted to almost like a lush grassland. She shakes her head as she tells her searching about here could be a grave mistake she then weakly smiles. "I know I try to be careful but the area is soo pretty.." She admits with a murr. "Also.. I wouldn't mind companionship either if it isn't too much trouble.."
The way the young female reacts to Jade's words only further convince the cougaress of her fine choice. Obviously the coyote wouldn't pose much threat to the cat, if any at all, by the way she seems to absorb and accept everything she hears. A perfect servant. "It certainly is a beautiful place," the cougar consents, flexing her claws lazily. "Though the threat still remains. And I shall join you, then. I shall protect you against anything that takes the idea into its thick head to harm you. In return, however, perhaps you might help me in something?" Jade forces the pleasant look to remain in the forest green eyes, drawing upon their power of manipulation and attempting to saturate the coyote with it. She -must- not get away.
Snowy blinks at this as she seems to see little threat int he Cougaress that was screaming in her eyes death and destruction. She keeps her eyes locked on the emerald eyes, almost hypnotized she nods. Even with Kuruk she protested she didn't need someone watching over her, yet this cougaress... she couldn't seem to say no to, instead she nodded and managed out. "Yes, I would be happy to help you with whatever you need.."
Perfect. "I would be most grateful if you could help me with a few things. You see, to keep on constant alert watching over you and being in constant preparation to run to your aid and fight will no doubt cause me to.. run out of energy very quickly. Even more so in these hot summer days, though they are quickly fading into cooler seasons." Jade allows her eyes to glance to the sky, appearing thoughtful. "If you might, perhaps, aid -me- in some daily necessities, such as food and maybe some menial tasks.. it would be greatly appreciated." Now to secure it. She returns her gaze to Snowy's, focusing upon her intently. "I'm sure your safety would be well worth such little details as these. Do you not agree, my friend?"
Snowy blinks a little as she takes in the request. Usualy at this point she would be saying no and walking away, but Jade can tell her eyes are working as the Coyotes seems about to infact say no then freezes and then weakly nods her head. "O..of course I can capture prey for you aswell as me..." She says her words slipping into a cheerful tone, if jade mentioned Kuruk right now she might be able to get snowy to say Kuruk who... all that seemed to mater right now was her and this noble cougaress which is so kindly offering her safety in exchange for some tasks and food.
The cougar's face appears to soften and a grateful expression crosses her profile. "Thank you, young Snowy," she murmurs, lowering her head level with the coyote's. "I can tell we are going to be invaluable to each other." What she doesn't tell Snowy is that she in fact does not see herself employing any effort into this relationship at all. In addition, the coyote will begin finding herself with more tasks, as her devotion is further secured over time. Jade has found herself a slave of sorts; while easing duties upon the girl may be tedious, eventually Snowy will be, as the cougaress already expressed, invaluable to her. Incredibly so. Jade gazes to the sky, her face unreadable a moment before returning it to her new servant's -- albeit the status unknown to the girl for now -- face. Then she hmms quietly, tail swishing gently behind her. "Do you feel hungry, Snowy?" Smile.
Snowy blinks and slowly nods feeling devotion slowly creeping into her, she does what she was taught to do from her parents to show affection she gives the Cougaresses cheek a gentle lick as she murrs. "I will try to do my best to help you!" She says cheerfully and as she mentions hungry, the coyotess's belly grumbles a bit as if on cue she nods. "Yeah.. I will go get us some food!" She says cheerfully and then is off like a shot into the grasses to secure prey.
