Summary- Kasim makes it to Lazuli turf and delivers the warning to Lark's parents.
Life has settled into what this wolf would call normal, especially after the last few months of worry, fear, and strange creatures roaming through their lands. It has caused Felstride untold headaches, though at present he is resting in the clearing no far from his den, laying on his side and resting from the exertion of a solo hunt. A still deer carcass lies close to him and his muzzle is stained with its blood. The Alpha male sits regally, like he always does, dark amber eyes surveying the coming twilight with both an air of caution and one of appreciation for the lands that he holds sway over. An ear flicks, and his breathing begins to regulate after the long haul carrying the young deer back to his family.
Storm is making her way through the bushes to met up with Felstride, her ears perked forward while she sniffs at the air, the scent of fresh blood drawing her onwards to here her mate and the kill is. Her tail flicks about as she finally catches sight of Felstride. "Hey there might hunter." The alpha says with a grin while lowering to lick across his maw a few times. "You could have waited for help you know?"
If the alpha was hoping for things to get back to normal, then he would be sadly disappointed. Kasim had been running ever since he heard the bad news from the strange bird. He had been running like, if he stopped, the world would stop spinning. But how /could/ he stop? After hearing that news, he couldn't just take a break and relax. No, he had to warn Lark or her parents as soon as he could. As Kasim comes running out of the woods and into a clearing, he sees two wolves sitting there. On closer inspection, Kasim recognizes him as Lark's dad and someone who he assumes his mate. Not wasting any time, Kasim runs up to them and stops in front of them. He gives a bow of his head while still trying to catch his breath and says, "Hello" *pantpant* "again, sir." *pantpant* "I have some" *pantpant* "very important information" *pantpant* "that you need to hear."
Storm's approach causes Felstride's ears to twist one way, his eyes following suit soon after, and his muzzle curling up in a gentle smile. He issues a deep burr of contentment as she grooms his muzzle, though her words elicit a gentle laughter from him. "I know, my Lady, but I thought that it would be nice for you to rest. After all--," but his words are cut short by first the thrum-drum of four paws on the fallen leaves, and the large wolf stands, neck fur bristling, as the cougar comes into view at the far end of the clearing. At first, he doesn't recognize the male, but as he draws nearer and speaks, Felstride eventually realizes that it's one of Larkspur's "friends." Felstride snorts, stepping in front of Storm just slightly, as if to protect her, his tail bristling in irritation behind him. 'I thought I told you to stay out of our lands,' is the thought that crosses his mind, but what falls from his tongue is wholly different, "Ah.. Kasim, I believe.. state your business with the Lazuli." Huff.
Storm murrs out softly while chuckling. "Yes I'm sure.. But I've rested enough thank you." She nibbles faintly at Feltrisde's ear, and offers a few licks even. Rowl.. Her attention turns to the movement and she blinks while watching the cougar run up and stop, and then start talking. A faint growl is offered as she watches the cougar before it starts to talk to Felstride. A faint snort escaping her while her hackles raise. "What is so important /cougar/ that you had to come running up right now?"
After a minute or so of catching his breath, Kasim looks up at the two wolves. He gives a slight nod to Fel at the mention of his name then turns his attention to Storm. "I'm sorry for disturbing you both now but I have very urgent news that you /must/ here." Then Kasim turns his attention to Fel and continues, "It concerns you daughter Larkspur, sir. Please brace yourself because you might not like what you are about to hear." Kasim gives a minute for this to sink in, then continues. "I have heard from a source that there is a very dangerous animal out there who..." then he stops. Kasim can't bring himself to say it, but he knows he has to. He looks down at his paws, unable to look the wolves in the eye before continuing, "...who wishes to kill Larkspur."
His mate's irritation causes Felstride to bristle even more, unappreciative of the fact that Kasim's warning has upset her. Storm's growl is echoed with a deep chuff of his own, and the Alpha male's eyes narrow slightly as the cat begins to speak. His lips curl up slightly at what he considers presumptuousness, but he listens in silence regardless. The mention of some un-named source causes Felstride to frown deeply, his tail twitching in irritation behind him. He steps closer to Storm, still eyeing Kasim, touching his Alphess on the shoulder. "My daughter will be killed by no creature, rumor or no. Your concern is noted, Kasim, and I thank you." He pauses, ears laying flat on his skull as he considers. "I would still appreciate that you respect the boundaries of my lands, that way my pack does not mistake you as that creature who would kill my daughter." Ah, ever the diplomat.
Miakoda has arrived
Storm is mostly irritated that she has other news to talk to Felstride about, sorta good news that she is rather sure he'd like to hear seeing what time of the year it is. She eyes the cougar faintly and lifts her head at the talk, a faint snort escaping her as she takes a step forward to eye the feline. "An.. Just how did you come by this information feline?" No, she isn't thrilled to have a cougar here in front of her to say the least. "What creature do you think could come into a pack of wolves and kill someone?"
Seeing that his warning was simply rubbed off by the two wolves as nothing, Kasim looks up at the two, almost too shocked to speak. If someone had just told him his daughter was in grave danger, he'd have taken action right away, not simply brush off the warning. Brushing off the feeling, Kasim looks at Fel first and says, "Sir, I understand why you don't believe me but, I beg you, you must. She is in big danger and I don't want to see anything happen to her." Then Kasim turns his attention to Storm to answer her question. "I'm not sure what this animal is. I picked up a scent but it was faded and I couldn't identify it. Plus, there's no way of saying that /that/ is the animal. I know my information is not as much as you or I would like it but you must believe me." Now Kasim is almost begging. He doesn't want to see Lark get hurt for her parents (and her) sake, and Kasim's own personal reasons.
Something smells funny! Miakoda is on the prowl, following an unknown aroma that's lingering a bit too near the heart of home for her liking. The she wolves meanders into the clearing, stopping to sniff here and there with her head held level and ears slid against her skull. But upon hearing voices, both her head and ears raise and she peers forward. A big cat thing. Cougar. And Fel and Storm. AND FOOD! Oh snap.. Her eyes linger on the dead deer, and panic briefly crosses her face. Did she miss a hunt? Nevermind, that worry will have to wait. She heads towards the trio, eyes lingering on the unknown cougar, catching the tail-end of his words. "Believe what from who?" she quirks a brow and pauses near the Alphas. "Who's this?" asked with a questioning look to the two of them. Getting friendly with the cougars, are we?
The Alpha male's eyes narrow even more as Kasim continues to speak, a low, warning rising up from deep within his chest. Felstride doesn't appreciate his first border warning ignored, and he doesn't appreciate all the attention his daughter seems to be getting by non-wolves. He manages to hold back a snarl, but Felstride can't help but chuff in irritation. "Kasim," he barks, breathing slowly and deeply to calm his fraying nerves, "I appreciate your concern," he repeats, "but my daughter is safe within my lands as she is safe within her family. I will take it upon myself to track this creature down should it be more than rumor and dead scents." He stops then, tail flicking as he considers what else to do. His eyes slide briefly to Storm, holding onto a hint of worry for Larkspur, though it is hidden behind his anger and frustration. "The Lazuli will take care of its own business," he finally concludes, though his attention flits to the Beta female. "Larkspur's friend, Kasim, brings news of an unknown creature wishing to kill my daughter." Snort. "It will be taken care of," his final statement punctuated with a steady look at the cat.
Storm smirks as she listens to the feline. "You are not a wolf.. How do you know how we feel on this matter?" She questions with a faint tone, a low growl escaping her. "No harm will come to my daughter here. Not with her family to watch over her. Who ever wants to hurt her will have to get through us first." The alpha doesn't think of a reason as to why some animal would want to hurt her daughter, let alone try to come onto the lands where a pack is and do it. The lazuli have plenty to protect one another with after all. A ear twitches to Miakoda and she glances to her beta nodding before looking back to Fel with the same look in her eyes. There have to find out more about this for sure.
Bodhi has arrived
This isn't getting anywhere and Kasim knows it. He's doing the best he can with this situation but the wolves simply won't listen. Kasim looks at the newcomer but lets the other wolves fill her in on what's happening. He looks back at Fel as the wolves barks his name out and starts talking again. When he's done, Kasim can't help but feel helpless. Why does everyone think they can handle things on their own? There's no shame in letting others help them when the time arises. He decides against telling Fel that and turns his attention back on Storm. "It's true that I can't fully understand how you feel about this but I have a close resemblance. My friend, the one who saved Lark in the first place, has become very close to Lark and I don't know what she'd do if something ever happened to Lark but I know it wouldn't be good. Besides my own reasons, I feel that as long as I wear the mark of the Elysium on my shoulder, it's my job to help protect those in trouble. I came here to warn you, help give you a basic description of the animal, and maybe offer my help in protecting Lark. I know you both are worried deep inside and all I want is to help in some way. There's no shame in letting others help." Kasim isn't trying to be mean or pushy about this, he' only trying to help these two.
Bodhi pads into the area slowly as he caught both familiar and unfamiliar scents while wandering, his gaze surveying the area slowly and carefully before raising his brow at the actual presence of the cougar and starts toward him directly with an curious look on his face
Miakoda rapidly blinks twice as Felstride fills her in, and she glances briefly to Kasim, then back to Fel and Storm. "Kill her?" A pause as she lets that marinate for a bit. "That sounds..." What's a good adjective? "..Dramatic," she says flatly, eying the cougar with a look of mild suspicion. "Are you serious? Is he serious?" asked as she glances to the Alphas, snorting a little. "Seems like a lot of fuss being made over one half grown wolf, and for what reason?" questioned more to Felstride and Storm than the cougar, but as he continues to speak, her attention returns to him. "Mark of what?" said blankly. "Maybe it's just me, but I'm thinking it'll be hard for one cougar to protect everyone. Besides, Lark's our girl. We have a handle on this, as Storm and Felstride have said. So.. thank you for your warning," she offers, glancing to the alphas again, as if to make sure she isn't speaking too much on their behalf. "But.. I'm sure we can take it from here. Maybe you could keep an eye on things beyond our borders."
Felstride chuffs, equally as irritated that the cougar seems to be misinterpreting their words for lack of interest or concern; in fact, that's far from the truth, but Felstride would rather that wolves take care of their own problems without having a myriad of creatures roving throughout their lands and across their boarders. Kasim's words cause his ears to flatten slightly, and the Alpha shakes his head. "I understand your concern for my daughter, Kasim, but Larkspur will remain with the Lazuli and in sight of either myself or my mate at all times at our den. Thusly, we do not wish any non-Lazuli, wolf or no wolf, near our home." He pauses then, noding to Miakoda to assure her that she is not stepping beyond her boundaries (as if she had any, HA!). The Elysium reference causes the wolf to blink curiously, not having heard of it before now, but he offers the young cougar a sigh and a shake of his head. "Understand our position, Kasim. It seems all the world is out for my daughter, and as he father I do not appreciate it." Understatement of the YEAR. "This season has been fraught with problems for the Lazuli, and until these problems are resolved we will not appreciate unwelcome presences in our lands. I, my mate, and my pack will take over this issue, and I guarantee that no creature will harm my daughter." His final statement is puncutated with a solemn nod and a look, to all, that suggests arguing is NOT a good idea.
Storm doesn't have a problem at all with Miakoda saying what she does. She just peers at the cougar and takes another step forward. "Maybe you didn't understand.. Were wolves.. Lark is my daughter whom is a wolf meaning its a wolf thing and we can take care of are own without /cougars/ helping us. An I don't care what mark you got I got plenty of marks myself from protecting my pack." This said with a faint huff while lifting her head, maw twitches as she hears her mate and nods agreeing with what he says.
Kasim gives a defeated sigh as he sees this isn't getting him anywhere than it already has. Wanting to clear the record of something first, he looks at Miakoda and says, "There are others who bear this mark, not just me." He looks back at Fel before saying, "But it's not my place to say, you'll find out sooner or later." Kasim knows that Trux or someone else will eventually drop by here and offer an invitation and explain it all there, so Kasim doesn't go into details. Getting back on the subject again, Kasim says "I know everyone seems to be out for Lark and I don't know the reason why this creature is but I intend to find out. It's true that I don't know much about family related issues, seeing that my family is all dead." Kasim pauses for a minute, realizing what he just said, then continues, "I found out that the creature has very dark eyes, is maybe a smaller creature but I can't say for certain, and his name involves something that he wishes Lark to end up as. I don't entirely know what this means but any information is helpful is some sense. My source was a bird who met this creature, if you were wondering, and if I know him as well as I think I do, he's already gotten to Lark. I advise you to see her as soon as you can as this bird has....a way with words." And knowing Lark, she might not take it so well.
Bodhi wrinkles his nose slightly as he listens to them all then speaks up softly as he looks over toward Felstride and storm "May i have permission to escort this cougar when he is leaving?" his stance respectful as he addresses them
What's up with the birds being bearers of ominous news, lately? Miakoda says nothing and only looks over to Fel and Storm as the cougar goes on. What else is left to say that hasn't been uttered already? And so she keeps her mouth shut as she looks back to the cougar, settling a narrow-eyed look on him. Only now does she notes Bodhi's arrival, and his request inspires something near an eyeroll and subtle sigh, though her gaze is soon diverted downward as she examines her pretty toenails. .. Toeclaws?
Kasim's words are taken in stride, the information filed away, though his rather ominous statement about Elysium leads Felstride to be that much more wary of the cat. He grunts and shakes his fur out in an attempt to relieve his pent up energy and stress, nuzzling the back of Storm's neck to calm them both. The Alpha male muffles a sigh before lifting his head again and moving to the young deer that he managed to bring down earlier before all the ruckus. "Very well, Kasim," the wolf utters, glancing back with those dark, amber eyes, "Your concern is noted." That said, he glances to both females with a gentle but tired look in his eyes as he resigns himself to finish bringing his kill to the den and finding his daughter (probably to chain her sorry butt to the den, or something like that). Bodhi is given a tail flick and a slow blink as Felstride realizes that he's been there for a little while. "Very well," he offers before picking up the deer by the throat and dragging it into the darkening forest.
Storm just peers at the cougar, a faint huff escaping her. "Yes.. Thank you for the concern." She isn't sure what else to say to the cougar though, her maw twitches and she murrs faintly at the nuzzle and turns to look after Felstride, well seems she'll have to tell him later about the news. "Go ahead Bodhi." This said while she turns moving over to where Miakoda is, giving her a 'we should talk look'.. Though its nothing bad.
Felstride has disconnected
As Fel starts to walk away, Kasim can't help but feel somewhat defeated. He came here to warn and help protect the pack, but they only seem to want to do this alone. As someone speaks from over next to him, Kasim looks around to see another wolf there. How long had he been there? Kasim wasn't really paying attention. He turns his attention back to Storm and says, "Your welcome. I'll keep looking for information anywhere I can and if I find /anything/ that could be useful, I'll send a bird your way. If you need me for any reason at all, please just let me know, I won't be too far off your borders. I'll find this animal ma'am, I promise you that." With that, he turns to go. He looks over at his escort--Bodhi was it--and says calmly "Let's go" and starts to walk off, still feeling that same feeling of defeat.
Bodhi looks over at Miakoda and grins slightly "See ya soon sunshine" then looks over toward the cougar and nods as he moves to wander alongside him "Names Bodhi" his brows furrowing slightly "Mind if I ask yours?"

He looks back at Fel before saying, "But it's not my place to say, you'll find out sooner or later." Kasim knows that Trux or someone else will eventually drop by here and offer an invitation and explain it all there, so Kasim doesn't go into details.
