Players involved:
Roki- Male juvie. cougar
Kasim- Male adol. cougar
Tria- Female juvie. cougar
Summary: Kasim tries to sneak into Amaranth lands to check on someone when he is stopped by Roki.
Roki is feeling pretty proud of himself.. and by all rights he is entitled to such pride! Over his shoulders he wears much of the wings of the turkey he felled, his first real kill! His passage into adulthood is now completed as he's proven to his whole family he can hunt and provide for himself! A little ceremony had even taken place where the family friend.. a squirrel. ..Thatsright.. wove the feathers into the fur on his scruff. Now looking slightly rediculous though nevertheless totally happy, the young cougar struts along the path just like he owns it.
Kasim on the other paw is being a lot more cautious than Roki is. He hasn't been in this land since about three to four weeks and has every intention of making it look that way. He only came here to check on a certian someone who he hadn't seen since then. He was sure she was alright here but he just had to make sure. Paoro's warning about her mate being violent to males ran through his head and it was this reason why he was being so cautious. Too cautious in fact as he accedentilly steps on a twig. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but who knows, Paoro's mate could be right around the corner.
( Paoro herself can be quite the violent one towards roaming males, especially when her kids come into the picture.. and Roki just loves to see his parents in action. They look so cool and fierce sometimes, the only time he regretted it is when they chased off his bear friend. Anyways, big rounded ears perk up sharply at the sound of the snapping twig, and a grin widens across the young prince's face. "Time for prey number two.." he whispers to himself and sneaks off the pathway and curls up behind a rock.. though he cant keep completely hidden as his face peeks out just to see what hes going to capture and end up wearing this time.. )
Or an innocent little cubess, who actually was just wandering this way. She'd decided to venture forth from the 'yotes den, wander away from Maulisho's scent, and go adventuring on her lonesome. HEY, if they REALLY miss her Maul' or Shia will come looking for her /right/? Tria had actually in the past few days broken that barrier between cubhood and juvenille, however her underfed lifestyle sence her young childhood has left her undersized and rather itty bitty to say the least. The ashin cougaress had gotten used to the idea of meeting new faces and because of that, you find her here, watching Kasim wide eyed from the bushes, the other younger one not noticed yet. /MORE/ cougars?! She'd only seen Maulisho beside her mother, so all these other big cats was ... well ... a surprise for her.
While he is being surrounded by cubs, Kasim is silently punishing himself. He was focused too much on being silent that he forgot about watching around him. Normally that's all he would be doing but different time call for different measures. Kasim glances over where he thinks he hears noise. He doesn't see little Roki hiding there because Kasim is more worried about big cougars and not looking for smaller ones. "Is someone there?" he calls out in Roki's general direction
Roki ducks back at the voice and flicks his tail, the grin is gone and replaced by a much more serious look for a much more serious situation. Its a cougar! One he doesnt recognize and a Teenaged one at that! Roki discusses the situation briefly in his head before deciding that this is definetly his big break.. he can chase this guy off and show his mother the tracks to prove what a hero he is. He just has to wait another moment or two for Kasim to get closer and he can ambush him from behind the rock. The other younger cub girl is still unnoticed by him as well and he folds his ears down, flickflitting his tailtip about in anticipation..
It's about that time that Roki makes a sudden movement and Tria jerks her attention /his/ way. WHAT. HEY WAIT. That ones /smaller/!!!! Tria can't help but get excited. All she's seen are big cougars and big bobcats and a big coyote! Ok so .. not particularly big but you get the picture. The younger cougaress sits and watches curiously, taking a tentitive step fowards to see better, pale eyes wide. She wanted to burst out and say 'HI' but figured that PROBABLY wasn't the best idea right about now. >_>
Kasim still isn't sure what to do. No one answers but, then again, he wasn't expecting anyone too. If someone came out and jumped infront of him and yelled, 'Here I am' that would have supprised him. Suddenly he /thinks/ he sees a small movement behind a bush or rock, hard to tell. Figuring it's worth a shot, Kasim pipes up and says in that general direction, "Ok, I know you're over there hiding. Why don't you come out now so we can stop this hide and seek game." Kasim doesn't know if anyone is actually there or not but if there was someone there, Kasim's idea was to make him/her think he knew they were there so they would come out. Kasim just loves mind tricks.
Roki flattens against the ground as much as he can when the older cougar calls out again and silently curses under his breath before biting his lip. His plan is falling apart before it even gets started. He stays put and quiet however not giving up his ambush even though Kasim probably knows exactly where he is, and the scent on the wind is definetly cougar though the age cant really be determined that way. Hes not a baby and so close to teenaged years he could be anywhere even up to near adult! The young prince looks around for perhaps another hiding spot and its then he notices Tria across the way. Hey another one!! He blinks and stares at her with confusion and disbelief before making a gesture of silence in case she gives him away..
The young girl's ears flatten breifly as she spots the look given her way by Roki.
;; He sees her. Drat. She stays put, almost holding her breath to see what exactly is going to happen. What if the big guy cougar is /mean/. @_@ She silently begins to wish Maulisho were around, or even Shia. For a coyote she could handle her own and Tria would love for even her to be here. She begins to think that /maybe/ she shouldn't have wandered away and instead hunkers down further, ears tucking back.
Ok........nothing happened but that could mean one of two things: One, the animal the thinks is there is just stubborn or two, he's talking to himself. He descides to move a bit closer to the spot in question but keeps his distance incase of an ambush. Kasim is quite positive that whoever is there is no clear threat but he just wants to confirm his suspisions. He tries again with his mind tricks. "Ok Mr. Stubborn, I can see you now, why not just come out and we can talk for a bit, I'm not going to hurt you."
Roki blinks in surprise and looks back over himself.. nope, the rock is big enough to be completely blocking him from view.. or hes small enough.. whichever. Roki smirks and flicks his tail about.. hes no hunter yet and hasnt learned patience too well. He decides the gig is up whether he was spotted or not and the next thing Kasim knows is there is a feathery clad young cougar hopping up onto the rocks top. Red dye symbols of two sideways crescents can be seen on his right leg, and a little red stripe under his right eye, announcing this boy as a member of the local cougar family. "What are you doing here??" He demands with a scowl on his young face.
Tria finds this as a good time to also present herself, maybe. She edges a little closer out of the brush, but only a little bit and peers at the newly discovered younger male and the other less decorative male. She sits mutely for awhile before finally wandering all the way free of the brush and sitting slowly on her haunches. She can't help but let a small smile grace her maw, nice feathers... she thinks idly to herself, however the customs of whatever tribe he comes from are a mystery to her, ironic its the same one Maulisho wishes to introduce her too.
Kasim glances up at Roki as he emerges from the rock. So his suspision was right after all and his tricks seemed to have work. As Roki comes up on the rock, Kasim notices the red markings on him. So he to is from here. "Goodevening stranger. I take it from those markings on you that you are a part of the tribe around here." Odd since last Kasim heard no males were allowed in so that must mean that this cougar was born there. Kasim decides not to answer his question. He doesn't think about this too much as it's this time that Tria reveals herself. He turns his attention to her and gives her a friendly smile and says, "Hello little one, who might you be? I can tell you aren't from around here."
Roki frowns as his question is ignored and answered with a greeting. He did NOT say hello. "You are trespassing on our lands.." He hops down off of the rock, his feathers flying up and then lightly landing on his shoulders again as he strides forward boldly towards the larger male, ignoring Tria because she has a right to be here much moreso than Kasim does. "The boundary is clearly marked so Get Out!" Hes been running around peeing on the trails himself so he Knows theres no excuse for this guy to be here. He growls to let Kasim know hes not welcome and bristles up his fluffy fur.
Tria wasn't used to agression aside from the small amount Shia used with Shad and the oh so TERRYFING attempt she herself gave out. Thus the growling from Roli towards the older male are met with a wide eyed expression and the 'Hello' she was about to give Kasim is quickly cut off with a soft 'merp' as the young girl falls silent once more, an ear twitching. Uhmm.... She sits awkwardly still in silence, her tail giving a nervous twitch. What to do.. what to do...
Although he is met with clear anger of some sort, Kasim keeps his cool and doesn't yell back. His name, after all, /does/ mean 'controller of anger' "You can relax, dear stranger. I know I am in your lands here and I have no intention of harming anyone in it. I am merly here to catch a glimpse of someone I know to be residing here to make sure she is being properly looked after." Kasim doesn't budge as Roki moves closer to him but he does get a little tense. Even though he doesn't look it, Kasim is actually a pretty good fighter and will defend himself if need be, though he would rather not. As Roki starts to growl at him, Kasim turns his attention to Tria once he hears her soft 'merp', then turns his attention back to Roki. "And please stop with that, you are scaring the young one." He turns his attention back to Tria and says softly to her, "It's ok there's no need to be scared." He then tries to pull her towards him for comfort. He does this softly however, giving Tria the chance to escape his pull if she feels scared or awkward.
Roki folds his ears back menacingly. He knew it, this one is after the females! ....Whatelse? "Shes fine, everyone here is quite taken care of.." Its a bit obvious that this boy has learned his manners from his father. He hears the merp and addresses Tria finally. "Stay back, he's a wanderer and they can't be trusted.." The boy certainly has an attitude and he takes another threatening step forward, as if this was all his territory to defend.
Tria slides a few degrees back as the older male trys to pull her close. ;_; Don't get her wrong, she thinks he's nice, but this is all /way/ confusing. She keeps silently wishing Maulisho will show up and its when Riko adresses her that she hunkers down to her belly and flattens her ears, eyeing both of them with a sort of cautious curiousness. Isn't she a wanderer? Can she be trusted? ;_________; She remains quiet still, which for her is rather weird, and simply swallows slowly. Um.. confused? Why yes she is.
Kasim isn't too surprised the younger cougar pulls away from him. After all, they just met. Still, he is concerned for her as she seems scared around the two bigger animals. He turns his attention to Roki and says nicely, "I'm sorry, I would like to believe you but I just have a gut feeling that I can't trust you. After all, I'm quite sure this isn't your land but your mom and dad's and yet you make demands to me. I'm sure my friend is fine but I just need to be sure." Again, Kasim doesn't move an inch when Roki advances. He can get as close as he wants but that isn't going to scare Kasim. He feels a bit offended when he is called a wanderer and not to be trusted. "Just because someone is not of these lands doesn't mean you can't trust them. I trust my friend here and I'm sure that she trusts me and we only met for one day. Clearly you don't take after Paoro." It's also a bit ironic for Kasim because he wishes Maulisho were here just as much as Tria, whom he tries to give a comforting smile. That is the person he is looking for after all.
Roki frowns and notices his threats are just not working, and the older cougar seems to be seeing right through him. He backs off the step or two but then stops and sits there in the middle of the path. "Maybe not.. But Ahiga is my father and Im going to defend my family until he gets here. I cant let you pass." His tail flicks around behind him and he looks quite serious, staring directly into the older cougars eyes.
Tria watches as Roki sits and tells the other he may not pass, that he has to protect his lands. The she cub simply sighs a little. She wished she had lands. ;_; Tria stands quietly and 'ahems', "Um... I'm gunna go.."
Yeeah... XD She felt like she was interupting something anywho. A polite smile is offered to both as well as a little head dip before she clears her throat again with a, "I'll see you around.." She wasn't quite good at being socialable yet but she was trying! And with that the cougaress slips back into the brush all but gracefully making her way in the opposite direction to look for either Maulisho or Shia.
Kasim smiles and gives himself a pat on the pack subconsciously as the other cougar backs down from him. It took a lot to scare Kasim and that was usually by animals bigger than him. This younger cougar didn't scare Kasim at all. He turns toward the retreating figure of Tria and calls out "Good bye, young one. I hope to meat again." Kasim then turns his attention back to Roki and says "Yes you are definitely your father's son, no denying that. I admire your courage to defend your family even though you are clearly out-matched. If you are blocking my path then /clearly/ I can't go any further." Kasim puts a bit of sarcasm into his last sentence then continues, "Very well, if you are this stubborn then I shall indeed go back but know only that I mean no harm to anyone here in these lands." With that, Kasim turns to go. He decides not to mention that he'll be coming back when Roki isn't around, that'll only cause security to be beefed up and Kasim would prefer that to not happen if he is again to sneak back into these lands. "Farewell, dear stranger." is all Kasim says then heads back to the border.
Roki glares icy daggers at the larger cougar, but doesn’t back down any farther nor answer anymore of the long winded reply that follows. Roki couldn’t care less what this guy had to say, and if he indeed had the gal to take another step in his family's direction.. well.. Roki would not hesitate to bring violence into the equation, outmatched or not this was his home! 'Blahblahblah..' Roki's young bratty mind says to himself, he still has some growing up to do and perhaps it’s for the best that Kasim backs down. For Roki's sake. "And Don’t Come BACK!" He calls after the retreating mountainlion, with a big grin growing on his muzzle. That takes care of That, and now to go inform the family of his brave deed! What a story This is going to be!!!
