Lazuli - Underground Den
Players Involved:
Miakoda - F. Wolf - Beta Female
Halidari - F. Adol. Wolf
Summary: Finally getting the chance to meet up with the Beta Miakoda, Halidari tries ask for forgiveness for her disrespect but gets more than she barganed for.
Scene:
The weather is becoming increasingly warm, which is a great reason for wolves to be otu of the den in the breeze. It can get stuffy down here when too many bodies are congregated together. But for whatever reason, Miakoda has opted to not emerge from the den and mingle with the wolves outside. She knows who's out there, besides, and willingly joining them would be ... silly. Besides, her pups are here and they are what she cares about. And so, in the solace of her home, the Beta female bathes her sleeping babies after having tired them out with a bout of playing. If nothing else, the three youngsters that are tucked near her belly always succeed in lifting her spirits and making her laugh, and as they days go by, she's increasingly grateful for them.
After a few days passing and with an interest of whos still in the den after all this time, Halidari comes walking in slowly unaware of the things that could possibly happen to one outside the shadows. Tail hung mid level to the ground with a slight back and forth sway and ears cuped to the sides the young wolf scans the room for those awake and those who aren't. She doesn't find many, which was expected, but those she does find create quite a wiery look from her. Moving further into the den, Hali does manage to spot the Beta and she gives a polite nod to her when seen. "Evening Mrs. Mia. Hope I'm not disturbing you?" Last thing she wants to do is that.
Miakoda's attention is on Echo, her little white son who always seems to be dirty. She bathes him slowly and carefully, not wanting to wake him or either of the other two who slumber. She's aware that someone has entered, but she doesn't look up. She needn't to to know who it is, and only a pause to sniff the air alerts her of Halidari's presence. Her body curls slightly around her children before she continues Echo's bath. The rhythmic washing of her tongue pauses only when Halidari speaks, and she quirks a brow at the title used. Snorting softly, she flicks an ear before peering towards the young wolf, expression flat. "What is it that you need, Halidari?"
Halidari sees the Beta curl to her pups and she stops her advance. It bothered her that she wasn't trusted enough to be near them, but it was something she had to live with and built over time; one of the reasons why she has come. Keeping herself where she is, Hali peers to Mia lowering her head and tail with a certain amount of respect. "I want to say that I am sorry." That is how she starts. "My behavior last we meet was disrespectful to the pack and above all you. I was irresponsible and it pains me to know I may shuned upon in your eyes." Keeping an eye on the Beta and her pups she adds, "I hope that you can forgive me for my arrogance."
Miakoda turns back an ear as Halidari speaks to her, but she does not interrupt and listens while focusing on Echo again, nuzzling his sleepy body slowly. It's a while before she lifts her head again, but eventually she does and looks the younger female in the eyes, both ears laid regally back against her skull. "I'm glad that you've realized that," she says lowly, voice soft likely for the sake of the slumbering pups. "And I accept your apology, but I hope that you understand that forgiveness takes a longer time to be earned." Her brows furrow slightly and, after nosing each of her three offspring, she sits up and lifts her muzzle a little, eyes drifting to the entrance of the den. "Do you understand why I am protective of our pups? They are family. The ones you've brought are not. I put family before anyone else, and if a member of this family acts recklessly and threatens the well being of our future, it is my job to protect those who can't protect themselves." A nod to the pups. "I don't know your friends. Perhaps if we were introduced properly, it would've turned out better. I'll never trust or accept the one called Seven, and am still at a loss as to why he's here if he isn't looking to join our pack.
The words of the Beta put Hali at a bit of ease; all she wanted was to know that she wasn't on the bad side of those who mattered most. A nod given, "I do understand." she says lowly, "After having spent time with two of my sisters I have learned that not all of life is about what I want. Its about the needs of those who don't know the rights from wrong; its about them." Hali had fun with her siblings and putting them in danger would be far worse than the looks of dislike. "Not long ago I had told father I was going to stay here. To be with those that needed me." Folding her ears back, Hali looks to the ground, perking a brow as Mia mentions those she brought with her. "I do not expect you to like those who call themselves my friend, but I do hope that you'll give them a chance. If a proper greeting is what you want, then I would be glad to arrange one." Afterall there is one she wishes to have around longer than what a friendship provides.
"I don't care about your friends, and I don't wish to meet them. The one, Lykaios, at least seems to have a bit of sense to him and acts the way a stranger should act when amongst a pack that does not know him. Seven has proven to be below worth to me, and he will continue to be worthless. And if it were my choice, he would not be here." Judgment made, apparently, and her expression darks a little as she looks back towards the exit of the den. "I was angry with you," she says as her eyes return to Halidari, "because despite what you said to your father, your loyalty seems to lay elsewhere. It is a talk that he and I had. You put your friends before us, which is why my loathing for you grew that day when he was so near the den and I wanted him away. You spoke against me and Thorne, your Betas, to side with a wolf who is not a part of our family."
"Because he is my friend." Hali states. "Do you turn away your friends just because they might be disliked by those you care for, those you are suppose to be protecting." Not a question. She doesn't want to have to give up everything in her life just because she is in a pack. "You ever think that perhaps what I was doing was for the benefit of the pack." she turns her head away a slight hurt feeling in her voice. "You never even asked, you just assumed I was turning my back of what mattered." Hali looks back. "There is nothing out there that means more to me than family. I might have a strange way of showing it, but I shouldn't have to display my feelings every time I turn around." Silent for a moment, she takes a deep breath. "I had every intention, when I brought them here, to meet my parents, to gain their acceptence here. I even told them to be watchful of those around them. As for Seven, he is thick headed and only wants whats best. However, if not having him around will make you feel more comfortable, or make you like me again then fine; I'll tell him to leave. It does not matter to me if I have one friend or two, but what does matter to me is knowing that I have the backs of those in my pack for the things I do." Stepping back she says one more thing. "If the things I do aren't liked, tell me, I'll correct it."
"I don't put myself in that sort of situation. My friends are my pack, and those who I meet outside of the pack who are friends, such as Bodhi was and Thorne, then I bring them to the pack. Not only the Alphas, but to all who will associate with them if they are accepted into our family, because the only way that they will be accepted into the family is if everyone gets along with them, not just your mother and father, and not because you like them. This is how it's always been. This is why we've been close. Thorne, Storm, Felstride, Bodhi. Silentpaws and Rook.." She closes her eyes slowly at the memory of the lost two. "If Seven cannot get over the fact that he is not a ranking wolf in this pack, and hence has no say in anything that we deal with, then he needs to go. He will be a rift in our family, and there has never been one before. Rifts are what divides a pack, and we have never been divided. We fought the Sangre pack together. Your mother, father, and I battled a bear together. The three of us made this pack. You don't want one wolf to be enough of a problem to ruin our closeness, do you?" Her ears perk forward now, and soon she lays back on her stomach and curls around her children again. "I will tell you."
Halidari shakes her head and nods. That was the next thing she was going to do.. first introduce them to the alphas then the entire pack. It was hard to believe, though, that Mia never put herself in that sort of situation.. no one is that perfect. Bodhi and Thorne were once rogues.. but she brought them here and they became pack members... had that not been her idea to start; Hali closes her eyes and turns to the ground once more. Hali had no friends in the pack, just family. Everyone was always muck older than she was.. grownup as your only friend was no life for a pup. No longer a pup she went to get her own and they are not liked... it confused her greatly. What of Lark and Toban, she began to think, would they be treated the same for their absence and perhaps anyone they brougth back with them. Hali skakes her head and looks up. "I do not." Turning to leave, feeling she had said enough and received enough she says to herself, "Alright." alright what... "I will see what I can do."
Miakoda says nothing more and only nods a little, attention again on her offspring. If she has anything more to say or add, she isn't saying it now and instead lowers her head down to nestle the trio nearer and close her eyes.
