Willow Thicket
Involved:
Halidari - Lazuli Wolfess
Aeron - Lazuli Juve.
Summary: While out looking for Halidari so they can play, Aeron gets lost in the wild. However, during her search, the two are reunited and a new journey begins.
Scene
By late afternoon, Halidari was off away from the group looking rather evasive to the outside world. Normaly she wouldn't dare think about being out here by herself this time of day, but hunger can draw anyone out. Hidden within a mixture of snow, fallen willow branches and overgrown dead grass, she scans the area closely, listening intently, for any movement that looks to be a possible meal.
It isn't hunger that's drawn the young girl out this far away from home. Though Aeron has felt her share of hunger pangs, it's actually a combination of boredom, a desire to play with her big sister, and the finally undeniable fact that she's /lost/ that has brought her to this unforgiving part of the forest. Unfamiliar, as well; Aeron doesn't ever recall seeing such a tangled mess of sharp foliage. Where /is/ she? Sighing, the girl does the only thing she imagines can be of benefit: keep on walking.
There was nothing to be seen for the longest time, it felt like forever. Just as she was about to give up and start her search somewhere else a rustle from behind catches the wolfess attention. Dropping her ears, Hali turns behind her and there was nothing. A sigh escapes the girls lips as her gaze falls to the ground. It wasn't till she began to look up that she notices the faint tracks of something small, possibly a hare -- she hoped it was a hare.
The thought has entered Aeron's mind on more than one occasion that she should probably try and be more stealthy as she travels, especially given the lack of an adult to protect her if a predator decided to hunt her. Another thought has been forcefully rejected by the young girl: what if she /can't/ find her way back home? What then? No... she refuses to accept that possibility. She /will/ find her way home! She just needs more time. Yeah.
Trailing the tracks, taking one steps at a time as the melting snow crunched beneith her, Hali scans the area around her every few feet. Still there was nothing but the scent that accompanied the tracks was certainly there. Following the scent now, it's not long after that Hali finds the creature she sot hunched over near a fallen willow. Hali was completely in the open now, but at this rate she didn't care. Crouching to the ground, Hali watches carefully the Hare before her, every so often creeping forward.
She doesn't see the pursuer, but she /does/ see the hare. Eyes widening and ears tipping forward ever-so-slightly, Aeron takes a tentative step toward the prey animal, wondering if there's any chance at all she'll be able to catch it. Most likely not, but... stranger things have happened.
Sniffing around, the hare twitches its nose to the threatening scents now carried through the winds. Droping its ears, it takes only moments for it to take notice that its a tad to close to the owner of such smells. Hali has noticed that as well and further drops herself into the snow. As she does, she picks up a scent a bit too familiar. Flicking an ear, she side-glances to each side, but her vision is blocked by a hill of snow and tree limbs. Turning back to the front, for the time being, Hali just catches the Hare running off; she is left with litle choice but to chase after it if she want to eat tonight.
Everything changes dramatically and instantaneously when the particular prey animal that Aeron was watching... suddenly takes off. The girl's immediate feeling of discouragement is quickly replaced by amazement and delight when another animal comes into view: it's her sister! "Hali!" the girl calls out, hoping to make her own presence known to the older lupine before a pursuit of the hare ensues.
So the scent she picked up was indeed familiar; infact so familiar that it turned out to be family; a part of her family she never expected to be this far out. Taking a quick look to the side as her name is called out, Hali tries not to draw her attention to far from the main reason she was in the area. Unable to see exactly who it was that called to her, being a bit busy at the moment, she keeps a move on after the Hare. Disappearing into the snow covered brush, the tussle within becomes an obvious sign that conflict has arose. A sudden yelp comes from the brush, but just as quickly as it came, there was silence.
Silent and completely still until the last dying sound comes from the brush, Aeron finally lets out a joyful yip and charges ahead toward where her sister disappeared. The hunt has been successful, from the sound of it! "Hali, where are you?" she calls out, tail wagging excitedly.
She was right, the hunt was succesful, but not without its consequences. Hearing her sisters voice form the otherside of the brush, Hali waits a moment before answering her back. "Inside the bush. Hold on." Wincing just slightly, she had been hit in the face by the hare's hind legs during the tussle; the evidence clear as a few red lines show upon her left cheek as she exits the brush on Aeron's side. Hare in mouth, she places it before her sister and asks. "What're you doing way out here hun?"
"I got bored and wanted to play with you but I couldn't find you so I started looking and got lost but I found you now so do you want to play?" It's a long and convoluted sentence but the message is clear enough: Aeron is /very/ glad to have found her big sister, and she wants to DO something! Okay, so she can be patient and let Hali eat first, but... then play! Yay!
Halidari chuckles slightly as she looks at her sister with a mildly amused look. "Of course we can." Looking down to the hare thats causes her so much trouble, then back up to Aeron she raises a brow.. "Might you be hungry?" Growing pups are always hungry right. Dropping to the ground, Hali waits a few seconds for a reply before nudging the hare forward.
On second thought, she IS hungry! Aeron nodnods with plenty of enthusiasm, then attacks the rabbit with the same. Yum! Between bites, she's asking Hali all kinds of questions: where did she go, how did she get here, how far away from home is this, what's the way back, what kind of game does she want to play, and every other curiosity on the young girl's mind. Oh yeah! She almost forgot: "..and thanks for letting me eat some of this!" Gotta be polite, yep!
Halidari smiles softly as her sister takes to the hare like it were her first meal in ages. Leting her get the better of it, Hali takes a moment to think over all the question that spilled out from her sister's small form. "Where did I go.. well, I went to see Johari. The fox you and I played with that time at the den." The same one she's yet to run into while out here. Leaving how she got here unanswered for it was pretty obvious, she moves on to the next. "Home is a good distance from here, but don't worry, we're not lost." This she says lowering her head to the juvenile. "We'll head south from here after we've visited Johari." Taking a break from answering questions for a while, she thinks of what she may want to play.. but then figures it doesn't matter for Aeron will probably come up with something before she does. When she's done with all that, she gives a nod to her sisters thanks, "Your my sister. Can't have you going hungry can I." she says, then creeps forward to get her share before theres none left.
Fox. Johari. Riiiight. That whole interesting afternoon with GREEN! "I remember Johari!" Her muzzle adopts a wide grin. "You want to go play with her too? Can I come?" Hali's movement toward the leftover rabbit is acknowledged with a slight backpedaling from the younger lupine. If Hali caught it, then of course she can have some! Obviously!
Looking up at her sister during bites, Hali gets the impression that she doesn't really remember Johari at all, but doesn't question the matter because she could be wrong. Swallowing, a moment later, she nods, hopeing she'd ask that. "You sure can. I think she'd love to play with you again." And hopefully without all the greeness from their sister Riko, even though it was funny.
"How far away is she, Hali?" The cub really doesn't want to walk another long distance, but then again, now that she's finally /with/ someone, it probably wouldn't seem as bad.
Halidari raises her brows during the last portion of her meal. Waiting a moment before speaking, she looks to the northeast and then finally say. "Not to far." Turning back to her sister she says, "See the big snowy grassy area over there. She's in there." Least thats where Hali hoped she was.
The young girl nods, looking in the direction indicated. "Can... can we go see her now? Go see her and play?" Her voice is hopeful, but there's a slight hint of hesitation, as she doesn't want to sound /too/ impatient or anything.
Well techinally she was suppose to be there now, so she sees no reason why they get head over now and get to all the fun they'll be haveing. Nodding to her sisters question, Hali slowly stands. "Well, I'm ready when you are." She says, giving a slight nudge to the girl.
"Of course I'm ready!" Obviously--she's /always/ ready! Yep! With an enthusiastic yip, she starts trotting off in the direction that Hali noted a minute ago, though it's not until she's gone a good several yards before Aeron realizes that maybe she should let /Hali/ lead this trip.
Halidari was just about to let Aeron run as far as she could just to see how long it took her to realize she wasn't following, or that it'd be wise to wait for her. A smile on her face when her little sister stops, she moves forward to join her. It takes only a few seconds to reach the side of the youngster, stoping for a moment, then continueing. "Stay with me now.. wouldn't want you getting lost again." she smirks.
Looking quite a bit abashed, Aeron nods and lets her older sister take the lead. "I don't wanna get lost again..."
Taking those words seriously, Hali makes a point to keep a good eye on her sister while their out here. She can only imagine what it'd be like returning home and telling everyone she lost her sister in the forest. Best not let that happen. "Glad to hear." She tells her, looking forward and starting out towards the snow barren grasslands and the fox that awaits them.
