Sierra... F. Adol. Wolf
Tariro... M. Wolf Pup
Shag.... M. Wolf Pup
==================
Scene
Sierra yawns mightily, stretching out next to the stream. She chuckles to herself, remembering the days when she was a pup, not much older than the ones she's pup-sitting now, sprawled out in nearly this same spot, watching bugs. Oh it felt like only yesterday. She peers down at her paw, so much bigger now, oversized almost, and wonders when she'll finally grow into her lanky limbs.
If there was a potential playmate around, Tariro was not to far behind; infact he was so close that he couldn't resist not doing something. Up behind his auntie Sierra, the pup wiggles his hinie in the air before jumping forward to pounce.
Sierra lets out a squeak of surprise as she's pounced, peering behind her at the culprit. She laughs, tail wagging. "Well hello there!"
Tariro has a big toothy grin on his face as he looks at her. "Hi!" he says tail wagging.
Sierra laughs, "Hiya. And how are you, little Tari?" She enjoys pup-sitting. They're so terribly cute. She'll have to do it more often.
Tariro puts his head down on her side for a moment, brushing it within her fur, just ignoring for for a moment before saying, "I'm good, now I wiff you." Aww how sweet.
Sierra blinks. ohmigosh so cute. She turns and gives Tar a good licking. "That's very sweet, Tari. I like being with you too." Her tail is wagging a mile a minute and just doesn't seem to stop.
Tariro murrs the best any pup can to the licking; curling up into her fur.
Sierra chuckles, adjusting her position to curl around the pup. She wonders, not for the first time, what it would be like to have pups of her own...but she's far too young to seriously be thinking about such things, and she'll never be One. Only the One gets to have pups. SO she sighs and nuzzles Tari contently.
Tariro won't be One either.. he's far to young. Curling her paws around the nearest part of Sierra, digging through her fur with his nose, blowing air every so often as hair goes up. When nuzzled, he likes aunties nose with a giggle.
Sierra laughs and licks Tari's nose right back. "You sure are affectionate. Such a sweet little boy." She flops her tail over the pup, then looks up and around, making sure the others are in sight. She doesn't want to mess up her babysitting job.
Tariro giggles at the lick back before just smiling. He can be sweet, but he has his moments of being the other too. As the tail comes floping over, he yips. Its the enemy, it must be defeated. Grabbing the tail in his mouth, he play bites.
Sierra is, fortunately, beginning to acquire her winter coat, and so there's plenty of plush wolf fur between Tari's nasty little baby fangs and the actual flesh of her tail. So she lets him tug and play, flopping her tail around in retaliation when she can.
Oh no, its free; he can't have that. Reaching out with his paws, Tari tries to grab the tail between them; missing several times. The ally of the leaf will not win this time... no not this time. Never shall it make him dizzy trying to catch it again. Going round and round is the devil. He tries and tries till the tip is caught in his mouth. "Gos you!" he muffles.
Sierra gasps, forcing her tail still once it's captured again. "Oh no! I am defeated! The mighty hunter has captured his prey!" She flops onto her side and plays dead.
Ha! Pup is mightier than the tail. Acting all childish in his victory, Tari gives a tug to make sure its defeated. When it appears dead he says, "Auntie Sie...!" Dropping the tail he rushes over to her front. "I beat it... you safe now." Taking notice she was on her side faking, he frowns. "It killed you, I's to late." he nudges her slightly. "I's sowwy, I twied."
Sierra lays there, feigning death, for a moment longer before leaping up and pouncing at Tari, tail up and flailing behind her. "Ha! Can't defeat me that easily!"
Oh, the noise... why all the noise. Shag's a quiet youngster, valuing silence, never particularly active. He comes upon the others in the midst of their merriment, his eyes wide as he takes in the sight of them fooling around. He just sits back and rubs a paw over his head, wondering how long they'll carry on. His fluff rustles back and forth as he shakes himself. If one didn't know any better they might even say he was talking to himself.
Tariro eeps at the pounce, letting out an "Ahhh!" falling back. "You tricks me!" He grrs; how could he fall for such a trick. Getting up he makes for the enemy again. "I's get you dis time!"
Sierra laughs, standing tall over the pup, as though victorious, her tail up. "Haha! Go ahead and try." She leaps backward and drops into a play-bow, tail flopping above her, a grin upon her muzzle.
Tariro looks up as he's stood over, ears back. Watching her closely, his gaze shifts up to the tail then back down to the Sierra. Letting out a few playful barks, he leaps forward. "I's get you. Yous wait." Toppling into the older wolf, he tries to climb up and get the enemy.
Shag coughs and stands up, moving forward towards the others. Now that the coast is clear with Tariro distracted, he makes a beeline for Sierra, sniffing around on the ground, looking for something, but to anyone outside his mind, he's practically inscrutable. What's he looking for? Only Shag knows truly.
Sierra pretends to resist, but gives in after a moment and falls to the ground with a thud and an oof, playing it up to be terribly dramatic. "You got me!" And then she peers behind her and notices Shag, tilting her head curiously. Which of course likely presents an even better pouncing opportunity for Tari.
Tariro rawrs all the while in his attempts to reign victorious a second time. Having been on Sierra during her fall back to the ground, he goes tumbling too, but manages to stay on, somewhat. Climbing back on, he stands tall. "Yous no match for the mighty 'unter!" He's never been able to say 'hunter' right since he's heard it and in such it remains mispronounced. Walking up to Sierra's head, he picks up her distraction glancing up and across. His brother has come to take his win.. "You no take!" he says to Shag, even though his brother has no idea what his talking about.
Hmm? What? Shag glances up and around at the others, and seeing his brother, he suddenly darts forward and sniffs around his general area. "I'm- I'm... lookin' for something. Gots to hunt it," he whispers conspiratorially, and sneaks a glance to the left, then to the right. He shakes his head and turns around, heading for a large, old tree nearby.
Sierra is yet again reminded of her bug hunts when she was their age, and then she's being assaulted by a pup crawling around on her. She laughs, darting her head forward to get in some assaulting licks of her own.
Tariro gives a pleased look as his brother runs off; seems not even Shag can muster the courage to take on the might Tariro. He chuckles, more to himself than anything, but is interupted by the sudden licks from below. "Hey! You suppost.." he laughs not completing what he had to say. Raising a paw to bat at the licking onslaught, he pushes. "Ewww."
Shag keeps low to the ground, scanning as he's sometimes seen the adults do, but of course his shaggy fur and somewhat clumsy stance make it something of an exaggeration. He seems extremely intent on whatever it is he's getting, and then finds a patch of overgrowth that he pounces on, pawing around in it for... something.
Sierra continues her assault-by-tongue until Tariro is pushed back enough for her to hop back to her feet. she shakes herself, stretching a bit, and then peers curiously at Shag, wondering briefly what he's up to.
Tariro shakes his head after the licking, giving an ucky look. Letting Sierra regain her footing, he walks up to one of her hind legs and rubs his face against it before moving up beneith her between her legs. Looking up he blinks wondering what she's looking at.
Shag suddenly lets out a small gasp as he ducks down. From out of the rotting leaves and compacted plant material comes a beetle, not a very big one, but noticeable. Shag watches it intently. It zips over to a sapling. Shag follows it studiously. Then it jumps to a low bush. Shag hurries to follow it. The pup seems to literally go in a circle until the beetle hovers just out of reach. With a frustrated growl, he jumps up, attempting to grab it. And, of course, the beetle saw it coming a mile away, and disappears into the leaves, leaving Shag on his back on the ground.
Sierra smiles down at Tari, then smirks over at Shag. A beetle...she barks a laugh. Just like when she was a pup. She chased it all over the place...at least it felt like it. She was much smaller then. She even caught it once, but then her brother got mad at her for hurting it.
Tariro would so be laughing right now had he been looking in the right direction, but since he wasn't he is quiet, tail flicking low, but high enough to brush against the bottom of Sierra's midsection. Tari doesn't chase bugs, he's more a nature goer; more to explore and less likely to fly away.
Shag hrrfs to himself and gets up, shaking himself free of undergrowth. That was embarrassing. Without much else to say or do, he heads out once again, having accomplished his mission of finding that little creature he's been stalking all morning. He stares at Sierra as she laughs, unsure if that was a praise or a ridicule. But he doesn't seem very bothered by it either way. His nose is already working again.
Sierra hunches her shoulders in a sort of shrug as Shag trundles off after the bug. As long as he stays in sight, he's free to chase bugs all night as far as she's concerned. She smiles back down at Tari. "You wanna see a neat place?"
Tariro blinks and tilts his head. What neat place... he doesn't know of any neat place; everywhere looks the same to him. Shruging to her, he just nods. Might as well.
Sierra chuckles. She trots toward the treeline, tail flagged behind her. She takes a moment, casting about to find what she's after, before letting out a yip of success and trotting into the trees a bit. "Here we are!" hHe puts her paws up on a log. It's rotted out, and thus is hollow, but far too narrow for her to fit inside. It rests over a gap, providing more space beneath it. Pawprints, about the size of Tari's, can be seen in the dirt beneath the log, though long-faded. "We used to play here when I was little."
Tariro watches Sierra for a moment as she trails off to this said 'neat' place. Following after her moments later not wanting to be left behind. As she stops, he stops, looking at the log she points out. Looking up to Sierra then down the gap he blinks. "You did..." He hmms. Like his siblings would ever do that with him. He shrugs. Moving up to the log, he sniffs it some before tilting his head. It seemed cool, he'll have to check it out one day.
Sierra smiles, tail wagging. "We had lots of fun. I came here to be alone sometimes, too. I miss being able to fit inside here." She peers inside the log and barks, giggling at the echo.
Tariro jumps at the echo, being right next to the log opening, and having never heard any echo before. Falling back into his rump he barks a few times; his own bark echoing back. 'Who was that?' Looking inside he doesn't find anyone and this makes him confused.
Sierra laughs, trotting over to peer through the log up at Tariro. "It was me!" she replies, causing more echoes in the log.
Tariro jumps back nearly falling. Looking through the log he sees Sierra but it didn't sound like her. He clearly had to investigate this. "Who are you?" he asks obviously not picking up on something here.
Sierra laughs, which echos through the log, but she lifts her head, still laughing, the echo gone. "It's the log! It does that. I don't know why...caves will do it too, and sometimes if you're surrounded by thick trees."
It laughed at him, why that wasn't nice at all. About to give a few words in retort, he faulters as the echo is explained to him, looking up. "The log..." he says confused. It sure sounded like there was someone in there but there wasn't. Caves and trees. "So no one in there?" he wonders looking back into the log.
Sierra grins, tail wagging, and shakes her head. "Nope! It's a trick of sound! Though it can be really scary if you're not expecting it."
She was telling him, he nearly jumped out of his fur at first ear. Tariro nods to this and steps back. "So no one in there." He didn't see anyone so she must be right. "Ok." He was still confused but only a little bit.
Sierra laughs, sitting down beside the log. "No one. Go ahead, give it a try. You'll see."
Tariro just sits there for a moment as he wonders if he really should. Back at the log, he takes a big breath then says, "Hello!" into it. Several echoing hellos coming barreling out; he laughs.
Sierra giggles, "See? I bet you could scare your siblings with it. If they could ever be convinced to play with you." She makes a face, peering after Shag and his bug-hunting. She sighs.
For as much as Tariro sees his siblings, least of all doing something, the possiblity of something like bringing them here to play was slim. He was willing to try though. "I's try." he says looking up to his aunt. Tumping his tail against the ground, he suddenly yawns, slumping over just a bit.
Sierra chuckles, "I also found...that this was a quiet and cozy place to rest. Just make sure someone knows where you are, or they'll get worried."
Worry about him.. he supposes so. Only one whos really done anything with Tariro lately was.. well himself; Sierra too. His never complained to much about that; he's pretty good at occupying himself afterall. Nonetheless he says, "Okay." just so that he doesn't appear like he's going to on purposely come here without word.
Sierra smiles to Tari, giving him a little nuzzle. "Come on. It's getting late. You should get some sleep." She'd lead him back toward the meeting place, where the others would be resting, and flop down amongst them.
Tariro could use some rest, it was starting to show. Standing up, he yawns again before starting forward behind Sierra and back to the gathering of family. When he reaches them, he wastes little time settling in and ploping down; drifting off just moments later.
