Characters involved:
Yuma, Male Adol. Cougar (Amaranth)
Tohopka, Male Adol. Cougar
Chesmu, Male Cougar (Amaranth)
Synopsis: Tohopka wakes Yuma and leads him to Chesmu, who has been injured in a fight.
Setting: Wooded Terrain
After Yuma spoke to his father and brought him back within the territory, he settled down in the snow for what he thought was a well-deserved nap, mistakenly believing that the peace would hold for a few short hours. A light flurry of snow has covered the young male, who is curled up against the base of an oak tree. This layer of snow muffles the sound of distant screaming, failing to wake him... and so Amaranth's new Chieftain sleeps on, unaware.
Tohopka is running as fast as he can away from thehcrazed cougaress, but his body now having been pushed way to far from his previous exhuastion compounded with this sprint for his life decides it has had enough and trips over his own feet, unknowingly crashing to the ground close to Yuma
Startled by a sudden, very nearby thump, Yuma jerks his head up and blinks awake, looking suprised by the sight of a cougar lying in the snow. He rises quickly to his feet, and when he moves closer he recognizes the fallen feline. "Tohopka?" Uncle Topoka, that is, but he's still getting used to the fact. "Are you okay? What's wrong?" Yuma asks, looking him over for signs of injury.
Tohopka groans he ackes all over and pushed himself way to hard, but other than that he is fine He slowly turns his head to look at the voice that addressed him and sees yuma standing there with a concerned look on his muzzle "I..I.." when he stops to consider how to explain everything that happened reality hits home as he flashes back to seeing chesmu's torn up, bloody body lating and the sno and thep psycho cougaress back there with an injured male tears start to well up in his eyes as he considers everything and realizes that chesmu might die out there
Yuma does not see any obvious injuries, but Tohopka /is/ breathing hard. Maybe he's just exhausted. He sinks down onto his haunches, for a moment looking too shocked by his uncle's expression to do anything to comfort him. Sudden fear floods through the male's body, causing him to flatten his ears down. "You have to tell me what happened," he says, trying to get a grip on his fear before it blossoms into full-blown panic.
Tohopka does his best to calm himself, then tries to stand up, but he can't, so resigns himself to laying there. He takes several deep breaths then explains what he saw, everything from when when he heard chesmu's scream, to when he arrived to see that female dragging chesmu off, upto when he turned and ran to avoid the same psychotic female
By the end of Tohopka's story, Yuma's jaw has dropped completely open. He knows that /he/ was the one who sparked this particular brushfire - unintentionally, of course, but that makes no difference now. If he had not mentioned his misgivings about Kein to his father, this would not have happened. The realization causes Yuma to close his eyes for a moment, the male unable to contain a growling curse of frustration. "This is my fault!" He opens his eyes again and looks down at Tohopka. "Where are they?"
Tohopka stands up, shakily and takes a few steps then nearly collapses, but catches himself and gritting his teeth he heads towards the highlands "this way" he says through gritted teeth
Yuma does not wait for his uncle to lead the way. As soon as Tohopka begins making his way south, he springs to his feet and begins bounding through the snow toward the highlands. Just as the trees begin to thin out, however, and the ground underpaw becomes rocky, he spots his father lying motionless on the ground. "Dad!" he shouts, breaking into a full run, and only stopping once he is beside Chesmu's body.

Chesmu doesn't move or respond when Yuma and Tohopka run up to him. Granted this is due to his still-unconscious state, however hemay ormay not bewakingsoon.
Yuma looks over his father worriedly, seeing the blood that stains the snow around his fallen body. His eyes fill up with tears, blurring his vision, making it impossible to even tell whether Chesmu's still breathing. "No..." Yuma breathes, horrified and dismayed. What has he done? He's been the Chieftain for only a few hours, and everything is already spiralling out of his control. "Please wake up. Dad... /please/..." But his voice is little more than a choked whisper.
Chesmu coughs and finally begins to wake. And immediately begins to wish Maulisho had killed him as no doubt Nayeli will hate him when she learns what he did. He can't see very well, and he's thirsty. "Yuma?"
Yuma lets out a shaky sigh of relief when Chesmu stirs, the young male drawing in a few deep breaths to try to calm himself. It does nothing to cure the immense guilt he feels, however. Tears still glimmer in his eyes as he looks down at his father. "I didn't want this to happen..."
Tohopka sees chesmu stir, but waits not wanting to interupt this father-son moment
Chesmu sighs and smiles to his son. "Nobody wants these things to happen, Yuma." Chesmu says. "As Chieftains, we hope for the best, the peaceful solution if possible. What I id Idid as a father. Promise me, Yuma... you won't let him take Nayeli...away...." Chesmu flops his headback to the ground and breathes out a wheeze.
Yuma has no idea what to think. His father speaks of peaceful solutions while his blood runs into the snow around him, fresh from the latest fight. Does that mean that peace is no longer possible? Then Chesmu begs him not to let Nayeli get taken away... and Yuma does not need to hear a name to know which cougar would be responsible for /that/. "This fighting... it has to end." Instead of curling up in the snow and falling asleep like a cub, he should have shouldered his responsibilities. If Yuma had gone to Kein, as he had planned to, and spoken with him, this crisis could have easily been averted. He looks over at Tohopka, his features set and resolute. "Keep an eye on him. He needs to rest," he says, referring to Chesmu.
Chesmu looks up at the sky. "With my death, I have no doubt that it will end." Chesmu coughs again and squeezes his eyes shut. These wounds aren't exactly painless. Not that Chesmu thinks he is dying. "I have ruined it, Yuma! Maulisho and I are not friends. We used to be so close."
