Cherry Orchard
================================================================================
Lined up in rows and grids like an army, the cherry trees thrive here, all equally spaced apart from the next. At the right week of the year, all of them may bloom in unison, creating an explosion of soft colours. The rest of the year, the trees look quite modest and ordinary as they humbly offer the small red treats of soft, sweet fruit.
The short grasses springing up sway in the gentle wind. Some bare patches are noticable, as a narrow dirt path that once ran through the middle of the orchid has been taken over by new growing grass. Despite this, the field is well maintained by the humans who clear the weeds away.

[IC] Moonseeker
[IC] Malak
Time has passed slowly since the day before, at least for Moonseeker it has. The badly injured cougar didn't make it far from where the fight happened before she didn't have a choice and had to stop moving. She managed to find two large trees that she was able to settle against which offers her some protection. The thick scent of blood lingers in the area and trails to where she took up her resting spot. At the moment she's asleep, resting on her left side as it was the most uninjured. Her right shoulder hold the worst, four large and deep claw marks, another set is across her face just barely missing her eye in the process, an countless more. Anyone who's seen a cougar fight would be able to tel it must have been another cougar that did this to her.
Not just blood. Cougar blood. It has been a long time since he has smelled it, but he /knows/. And, given that his brother has apparently not been back to the area... Malak's expression is entirely serious as he follows the scent. Of all the other scents in the area, Moonseeker's is familiar, but the adult male who has been through here... He's not sure what he is going to find, but he does know one thing. If the strange male is not the one injured or dead, they are going to be exchanging words in the near future, and quite possibly a bit more than that.
It takes some time before she even catches the sound of movement in the distance. Moonseeker was in a daze as she tryed to wake up. The pain hits her again but she does not cry out, fear perhaps that Azriel returned to finsh the job. Her muscles are stiff and she's weak so moving isn't going to be easy. A hiss of pain soon escapes her as she attempts to push herself up with her good leg and shoulder, she gets up to her stomach more and that is about all she can do. Head lifting she looks one way and then another with only one eye open, the other swollen closed from the hits to her head.
Malak can hear the hiss of pain, a noise as familiar as the scent of cougar blood. He keeps his pace, but it does not take him long to come upon Moonseeker, and once he is close enough that he can look her over well, he stops walking. This was not a fight. He can tell that already. If this were a fight, there would be at least one corpse in the area, but she is alive and there are no other animals nearby. No fight he has ever seen has gone that far without leading to death. This was something else with which he is familiar. Torture. As he begins moving towards her again, slowly, he says, "Do not be frightened." This has to be a first for Malak, as normally, he would revel in causing anyone, cougar or not, to be afraid of him. He has never gone out of his way to keep someone from being afraid.
The voice is heard, but if Moonseeker hears him its not seen. Her maw pulls back and she bares her fangs as a deep growl escapes her, a warning to show who it is to keep away. Moon shifts trying to push herself up, which after a few failed attempts with her nearly ripped to the bone open shoulder she is able to sit. The new scent catches her attention and her maw twitches as she hides her fangs, head lowers slightly as her mind spins. "Malak?" She questions before she can actually see him, her good eye half opened as she watches the male as he moves closer. "Stay /there/.." Just meeting Malak a few days ago means she isn't fully sure she want shim so close, specially after what another cougar did to her.
Malak does not obey well. Furthermore, whether he had good intentions or not, he does not respond well to her baring her teeth to him, much less growling. No matter that she corrects her error before trying to give him an order. There is a growling in his tone as he warns, "You are in no position to give /me/ orders, Moonseeker, now or ever." Such slights cannot be ignored, no matter the condition of who makes them. He most certainly does not stay, but in light of her condition, his aggressive manner is limited to the tone he uses. She scarcely could withstand a physical correction in her current state, he knows.
"What would you like me to do? Lay here and do nothing?" Moonseeker says after a moment. She's in pain, and she's scared no one could blame her for that. Well, other then Malak it seems. Though she does slip quiet after that, if Malak was to try and correct her there isn't much she could do to stop him. Her good shoulder is pressed against the tree near her in some attempt to keep herself up.
"That would be wise, on your part. I am not going to hurt you." And, if he /were/ going to hurt her... She's right. There is nothing she could do about it. Malak continues towards her, but he is not even within striking distance when he stops walking. He does not /want/ to spook her. He probably wouldn't have even gotten as close as he is, were it not for the way she greeted him. Once he is standing still, he asks, "Who did this to you?" The leader of her tribe, perhaps, angry at her absence? Or some rogue, just because he could? It certainly was not Revan, but if it had been... Well, then, at least, Malak would have known there was good reason behind it.
Moonseeker closes her eye and stays quiet, not like she can do a lot at the moment. She takes in a few breaths of air which helps her spinning head for a few moments. At the question to who did it she frowns. "A rogue cougar who attacked my tribe before." Moon says after a moment. "We thought he was dead.. He attacked another female cougar ... and took her during season." One can say it was not a happy matching to say the least. At least Maul was near home with it happened, here she is on her own and she just made the one cougar in the area she knows mad at her. Things are just grand for Moon at the moment.
Malak cannot blame a strong male for breeding with a fertile female, or doing anything to ensure her cooperation, but he would know if Moonseeker were in season, and though they have known each other only days, she is /his/, at least in his mind. He finds her pleasant. He would not chase after her any more than he would chase after any female, but for so long as she is here, he would gladly fight off any male besides Revan to protect his premature claim on her. That she is not in season just increases his anger over what was done to her, since it wasn't done to ensure that she submitted to a male's natural drive to sire children. "Do you know this rogue's name?"
It was just not the fact that Azriel took Maul, it was the way it was done. "Name.." Moonseeker says softly, trying to remember. It takes a few moments before it dawns on her the name. "His name is Azriel." She murmurs after a moment. Moon wasn't anywhere near being in season so Azriel did it for spit, and fun and who knows what else. She has no problem telling Malak who it is, well she does sorta hate Azriel at the moment. Gee, wonder why.
The name is unfamiliar to Malak, but he takes careful note of it, and he also turns his head from her to sniff at the area, to find a hint of the strange male's scent again. It takes him only a moment, then he looks back to Moonseeker. "You need food and rest, but I am not going to leave you alone. When Revan returns, I will hunt." Revan would not challenge any claim, premature or not, that he makes. She will be safe with him watching.
Moonseeker watches Malak a few moments as he speaks, her eye following his movements while she slowly slides back to her stomach. "Not that I don't need the help..An not that I don't appricate it.. But why would you help me?" Her trust in anyone at the moment is a bit stretched, she never expected to get this hurt from another cougar. Perhaps that was part of her problem but still its how Azriel attacked her that was so bad.
Why? Because she played to his ego well, the first time Malak met her. Because she is /so/ much more pleasant than Whiskers, and if that female is to be near them often, Malak will need someone capable of soothing his temper so that he does not harm the female that currently holds his brother's interest. But mostly, because in his own unique way, he is courting her, even if that means growling warnings at her, ignoring her wishes, and /then/ seeing to her protection. None of these are the reason he gives, though. Instead, he says, "Because I will decide what punishments are necessary when I am around, and this was not one of them, so it will be made right." That means helping her to heal and seeing that the cougar who did this to her understands his mistake.
Moonseeker listens closely to what is said, her eye closing as she takes in a breath. Her head settles aginst a root, which actually helps her breath as her head stays elevated. "Thank you Malak.." So far Malak is doing a good job on winning her attentions for a later day it seems. Normally she doesn't go around growling an snapping at anyone who might be the leader, still she has a stubborn part about her which was about the only thing that kept her alive during and now after the fight.
"You are welcome. Rest now. You will be safe." Malak has spent hours upon hours on watch, guarding over his sleeping brother in potentially hostile lands. This will be no different. After speaking, though, he does take a couple steps away from her, turning to scan their surroundings before he sits down to begin his watch.
Moonseeker takes in a slight breath and then starts to drift after Malak speaks about her being safe. It doesn't take her long and soon she is asleep, not that its a good sleep as she's in a lot of pain but its sleep and she needs it after everything that happened. She's thankful Malak is here, and wonders how she could repay him for his kindness before she is truly out for the night.
