Characters:
Kein - Male Adolescent Cougar
Moonseeker - Female Cougar
- Eroded Well -
Kein has not yet caught any hint of what, to him, would be a foreign male's scent in the territory. He has only recently started his patrolling for the day, and he has done so with much on his mind. If he is looking for anyone at all, it would be Kasim. He never thought to ask Nayeli if anyone else knew, but it seems like the kind of thing she might let him know first, and he certainly would not mind the older male's advice. Though he is somewhat distracted, he does keep track of where he is and what is immediately around him as he walks along.
Moonseeker has been rather quiet since she's been back, after telling what she could about Azriel she was unsure what else to do. At the moment she is settled on one of the warm rocks, the suns rays having heated up nicely and she's stretched out with her still healing shoulder pressed to the rock as the warmth from it helps deal with the dull ache. Movement soon catches her attention and she lifts her head slightly to glance around to see who might just be wandering around. It takes her a few moments to catch sight of Kein and once she does she slowly shifts upwards until she's sitting.
Kein spots Moonseeker very shortly after he is spotted, and he stops walking. He didn't get a good look at her before, but now he can see her healing wounds, and he takes a deep breath before baginning to walk closer to her, his pace slow and relaxed. It would never surprise him to be blamed for his biological father's misdeeds, but he hopes for a chance, at least, to express his condolences for what Azriel apparently put her through.
Moonseeker maw twitches and she watches Kein as he moves closer to her, she doesn't look worried but then she has always been one too keep her emotions well guarded. A slight nod is offered to the other. "Afternoon Chieftain." Is said with a polite tone.
"Good afternoon-" It occurs to Kein, rather suddenly, that he has no idea what this cougaress's name is. "-Sister. How are you feeling?" After speaking, Kein stops walking, standing several feet away from her. Like Moonseeker's, his tone is polite, pleasant. For the first time since Nayeli told him, cubs are not the foremost thing on his mind, though he hasn't completely stopped thinking about them.
Moonseeker tilts her head slightly, the scared half of her face seen a few moments before she turns it away once more. "I'm alive, I will not complain." She offers softly. "My name is Moonseeker by the way." Moon knows his name, but then who wouldn't know the new leaders names after all? She pauses a moment before speaking up once more. "I knew your mother, not well, but I knew her. I am sorry for your loss."
Speaking about his mother no longer cripples him the way it once would have. Kein responds with a thin smile and a brief bow of his head, then says, "Thank you." After lifting his head again, he says, "And I am sorry for what you have gone through." He stops, after that. What else could he say? He won't let it happen again? He hates promising things that he's not certain he can do, but he understands how neccesary it is for the members of this tribe to feel secure...
Moonseeker nods slightly, a ear perking forward while she takes in a slight breath. "I will heal, I'm just glad I was able to get back here before he came back.." She is sure Azriel will try something, and why wouldn't he?
Will he come back? Why /would/ he? If Azriel wanted Kein dead, he would have killed him back in the abandoned den. Surely the older male would know that coming here, where a unified front against him could be organized, would be a death sentence, wouldn't he? Kein can't be certain, but he does know it will be a very long time before he lets his guard down, if Azriel never shows up. "We appreciate the warning, Moonseeker... And I want you, and everyone, to know that I will have no mercy for him. He took advantage of my mother and injured a member of this tribe. He means nothing more than that to me, and that gives me no reason to have any love for him."
Moonseeker listens quietly to Kein, a nod soon offered. "I understand.." She also doesn't think Azriel would want to kill Kein, just torment him more then anything. If he wanted to kill anyone he could have killed her during the fight, and others in the past but Azriel enjoys causing pain and then sticking around to see the aftermath of what he has caused. And for that as far as she sees it Azriel deserves death and if she could do it she would gladly. "You sound like a strong leader, I'm glad you are here now for our family." With everything that has happened they certainly need a change.
Kein can only hope that he will live up to his image, but he does appreciate the confidence in him. "I am glad to be here." It certainly hasn't taken long for that to become true. He has recently lost sense of time, with everything that has happened, but he knows that it was not long ago that he thought Amaranth would never feel like home again, and an even shorter time ago that he was concerned about his ability to overlook all of the bad memories in order to serve as this tribe's Chieftain. Luckily, those concerns appear to have been unfounded.
Moonseeker smiles slightly and nods as she hears him. She's a bit unsure what else to say, conversation has never been something she's good at. That's how she feels anyway, and she is unsure even more what to say as she does know really know anything about what has been going on here, so it leaves her feeling rather out of place.
Perhaps it is best that their conversation ends here. Kein was doing something before he stumbled across Moonseeker, after all. Still, before he turns to leave, he says, "If you need anything while you're healing, don't hesitate to let us know, okay?" Us? Well, him and Nayeli, of course. His mate wants to make sure that the Sisters know she is still doing her job while she is pregnant, so he has no reservations about including her in that offer, even if he does not spell out who he means by 'us'.
Moonseeker watches the other curiously a few moment before nodding. "I will be sure to let someone know. Thank you Kein." She says softly as she settles herself back down upon the rock, a forepaw pulling to her chest in the process.
Kein gives a nod of his head at her thanks, then finally turns to continue his patrol. He may not be taking much away from the conversation, but it remains comforting to know that, if nothing else, the Sisters are willing to accept the Matron's judgement and trust him in his new role, and it will remain the reason why he will do absolutely everything within his power to make sure he does not let them down.
