Characters:
Chandani - Female Adolescent Cougar
Kein - Male Adolescent Cougar
- Eroded Well -
Coming from the distance seeming to be unaware of the time is the familliar cougar Chandani she's bored and is actually trying to find Pelutho. The female does want to speak to him about some stuff but not really expecting to come across too many members of the Amaranth tribe at the moment.
Kein has only recently taken a break from today's patrolling. He knows about the arrival of the strange male, but he has not yet found the offending male, and given that it is only a single scent and it is most decidedly not Azriel's scent, he is not /too/ concerned. He tells himself it will be a short break, though. Just long enough to get a drink, clear his head, and then continue trying to track the unknown male.
Chandani freezes for a moment when she sees Kein offering him a slight nod of her head to acknowledge his pressence, "Hello Kein." She speaks in greeting not wanting to catch him off guard, "How are you doing?"
Kein turns to face the voice. He recognizes her... Kind of. She was there the day he and his family confronted Chesmu. She's young. One of his daughters. And, since she clearly isn't Misae... "Chandani?" There is no excitement at seeing her. Part of him really expects her to blame him for taking so long to return, after he promised her he would return as soon as possible. "I'm well. And you?"
Chandani makes her way over towards the male, "I am well too." She says not blaming the male for taking so long. "How does it feel to be the new chieftain of Amaranth?" She asks trying to start a conversation. "Do you know where Pelutho is?"
"I am still adjusting to it." And as for his brother. Kein's expression falls when Chandani brings up the topic of his brother. "I think my mother's death has hurt him a lot. I haven't seen him since it." Worried? Yes. But he cannot abandon his position in favor of searching for his missing brother.
Chandani frowns when she hears that, "I did hear what happened. I am sorry about that." She says sincerely. "I do miss Maulisho." Then she pauses for a moment. "It hit me hard when I found out about it."
She thinks it hit her hard? Kein keeps his opinions in that regard to himself, though, and says, simply, "Thank you." He can think about his mother now, easily enough. Talking about her, though... It's still too hard to do for prolonged periods.
Chandani nods a little not saying anything else about it. "You're welcome. Is there anything I can do for you?" She asks not wanting to hurt the male.
"I am fine, but... Thank you again, Chandani. And it is good to see you well." Kein feels slightly awkward, here, but he knows she means well. She always did mean well. "I hope you are planning on staying." It would seem that she is, or else she probably would have taken off shortly after her father was killed, right?
Chandani nods a little, "You're welcome. I do plan on staying. It is good to see you well too. I did miss you and your family when you all left. I just wished I could have gotten to known you better when we were younger Kein. I will do anything possible to help you and Nayeli."
"I don't suppose Nayeli has had the chance to tell you the good news yet?" Good news? Yeah, that's pretty well how Kein has come to think of it. He is still worried. More worried than he was about the prospect of seeing Nayeli again, more worried than he ever was when facing Chesmu... But it's entirely possible that it could be the second best thing to ever happen to him, second only to reuniting with Nayeli.
Chandani blinks her eyes a little, "No she did not tell me yet. What good news is that?" She asks thinking that they do need some good things to happen for a change after everything else that has happened.
Kein smiles before he speaks, the expression fairly genuine. "She's pregnant. We're going to have cubs." Part of Kein wonders if Nayeli even wants the others to know immediately, but Kein feels like spreading this news could bring exactly the type of hope that Amaranth needs in this troublesome time.
Chandani returns the smile to the chieftain, "That is good to hear. I am so happy for you both." The female speaks sincerely hoping it does show through. "Congratulations. I am sure that with you and my sister as chieftain and the matron things will get better after everything that happened. I am glad that you are the new chieftain."
Kein gives a nod of his head and says, "Again, thank you." He has nothing else he could say, now. Everytime he tries to change the subject, she brings it right back, so he's kind of at a loss as to what to say, now. There is only so many times he can say 'thank you', after all.
Chandani sits down on the ground. "I bet you can not wait to be a father." She says trying to change the subject again planning on keeping it changed this time.
Kein takes a deep breath. Part of him is looking forward to it, at least. The part of him that is scared, nearly terrified, could certainly wait, though. "I am glad to be having cubs with Nayeli." Despite the awkward phrasing, what he says /is/ true.
Chandani keeps her attention on Kein, "That is good to hear." She says in a soft voice. "Do you want me to leave you alone?" She asks the chieftain before letting out a soft sigh. "I am sure you will be a good father."
"I really ought to get back to my patrols, but... I am thankful that you and the other Sister have confidence in me." Not only as Chieftain, but also as a suitable cougar to bring a new generation to Amaranth. Shortly after that sentiment, he says, "If I see my brother, I will let him know you are looking for him... And I'd appreciate it if you could do the same."
Chandani tries to offer Kein a comforting nod, "I will do as you have asked." She admits sincerely. "Is there anything I can do for you?" She asks then waits for any commands if any he might have.
There /is/ something else, but... Well, if she is going to be angry with him, Kein will deal with it. He did say he was going to find a way to keep her entertained, though. With the hint of a grin, Kein says, "If you could go and tell your sister that you really need to talk to her, need her advice as Matron, I think it would please her." It doesn't matter what topic Chandani wants advice on, so long as it is convincing.
Chandani keeps her attention on the chieftain, "That is true. I will do that. I promise and I'm sure she will like it too."
Kein's mate was concerned about how her Sisters will consider how she is handling her job with the added burden of pregnancy. Hopefully, this will do even more to reassure her than Kein's talk with her. "Thank you. Travel well, Chandani."
Chandani keeps her attention on the male as she says, "You're welcome. I wish that you will travel well too Kein. If there is nothing else. I will let you be on your way then."
Kein gives a nod of his head, then turns to continue on his patrol. Hopefully, Nayeli will not see through Chandani's request, or if she does, she will not be upset about it. Still... Kein can feel somewhat better about leaving his mate alone to patrol the land, now.
Chandani turns away from Kein then heads off to look for her sister to speak with her... hoping that she will come across Pelutho too hoping without saying another word.
