Waterfall Ledge
================================================================================
Moving forward onto the ledge affords a beautiful view of the landscape: grasses stretching for miles, the mountains seeming to encase certain areas, and river from the lake to the south leading into a waterfall that plummets off the edge of the cliff. A watery mist hangs in the air, and sounds are drowned out by the thundering voice of the waterfall itself. The mists coat the rocks with a slickness that seems to threaten a traveler's step, and the slick moss on the rocks doesn't help. If one can avoid falling, then this place can be considered a good spot for observation or other things that require solitude.

[IC] Malak
[IC] Moonseeker
It has been several days since they disposed of that dog and sent that cougaress home with a strong warning about what happens to those who associate with lesser species. In that time, Malak has taken to resting and eatting, knowing he will soon be leaving these lands for what will, hopefully, be greener pastures. Moonseeker has been on his mind occasionally, but he has not yet seen her. They talked about moving off of the mountain together, but...
Yes they had talked about leaving the mountains, perhaps if they would have left earlier then nothing would have happened some days ago. The feline is making her way through the underbrush heading towards the waterfall. Her talk with Kein is still heavy on her mind. The scent of the male catches her attention and she moves forward heading closer to where he is.
Malak remains, as always, observant. Actually, more observant than usual. His brother's return has helped him in many ways, but they are all centered around him regaining his focus. As such, Moonseeker does not get too terribly near him before he has identified the approaching cougar, and when she is within sight, he is already wearing the most pleasant smile he has ever worn. He had begun to think he would have to go searching for her, or else leave her without even offering her the opportunity to join him.
While Malak is smiling, there is no smile across Moonseeker's face as she gets closer to him. She pauses some distance away and lifts her head as her gaze watches his before she actually says anything. "Why did you attack my family?" She's straight to the point, no reason to dance around what she is here to question.
Well. News travels quickly in Amaranth, then. And as Moonseeker dares to question him, Malak's smile fades and his tone takes a dangerous edge. "Your /family/ harboured an enemy of mine for many months. They /ought/ to consider themselves lucky that they have not been held more responsible for it." And Moonseeker? He has not blamed her for the time when the dogs and wolf were in Amaranth. Not yet, anyway.
Moonseeker shakes her head slowly at this while a snort escapes her. "You attacked my family because of a dog?" She questions with a thin tone, Kein didn't talk about that part. If he wants to blame her then so be it, but she actually didn't know of any canine being in Amaranth lands. "I can't believe what I am hearing.. I trusted you, I believed you..and you did this.."
"I attacked the /dog/. Your family is to blame for hosting such a vile beast, but they were unharmed, considering the gravity of their crime." Malak's teeth remain bares even when he isn't speaking, and his tone and expression both show clear disapproval. "They were given nothing more than a warning. They /could/ have been killed." Really, Malak and Revan were remarkably reserved. Compared to usual, anyway.
Moonseeker lifts her head high as she watches Malak, her tail lashing a few moments before she shakes her head. "Then Revan attacked Nayeli?" She questions with a thin tone. "Its a dog.. How does that give you enough reason to actually attack a cougar? If you truly wanted the dog you could have waited until it went off Amaranth land.."
Malak's growl intensifies as Moonseeker continues to question him. Who does it matter who restrained Nayeli, who taught her what she should have already known? Malak easily would have done the same... Were it not for his intense hatred for dogs. "They /were/ outside of Amaranth." Finally, Malak actually approached Moonseeker, the restrainted aggression in all of his movements easily read. "For a year, your family protected my enemy. For a year, they cared for the source of my separation from my brother. And for a /year/, I let them, not because my hatred for the dog was any less righteous, any less profound, but out of respect for /you/. /This/ is how you repay me?"
Moonseeker doesn't know where they was when everything happened, she only knows what Kein told her. She stands her ground as he moves towards her, ears ears pinning back as she takes in a shaky breath. "How is a dog your enemy Malak?" This said as she shakes her head. She blinks and watches him a few moments. "You could have told me about it.. Instead you kept it to yourself. An my niece was harmed because of it.. How would you like me to react Malak?"
"Not my enemy. /The/ enemy. They will link themselves to anyone strong enough to keep them, in the interest of trying to destroy what those who are stronger and smarter have built." Utterly disgusting. Unlike his brother, Malak does not inherently hate lesser species. Only when they insist on fraternizing with others beyond their own kind. "If I would have told you, would it have changed anything? My fight is not with you, Moonseeker. Don't make me think that it should be."
Moonseeker watches Malak a few moments after his done talking befoer she looks away, her mind going back over a few things before a faint sigh escapes her. "Perhaps it would have.. Then again who knows its too late now." She looks back to Malak, her maw twitching. "When you and your brother attacked my family I was throw into this.. I'm afraid its too late for me to back out now." She shakes her head while closing her eyes a moment. "You and Revan need to leave this place.. Kein is out for you both." If Kein finds out she warned them there will be hell to pay most likely, she'll deal with it then.
"Let him come. We will not be run off, and if he wants to make this personal... He will be afforded no courtesy." No matter who his family is. Moonseeker. Azriel. Aylin. None of it will matter anymore. The growl has faded some, but Malak is still not pleased. Apparently, though, it doesn't matter. Moonseeker told him to leave. She did not suggest that they leave, together. Malak can figure, without asking, that any attempts to convince her to join him would not be met well... And possibly for the better, if she considers /this/ an appropriate way to dissent. Or, really, if she considers any dissent to be appropriate.
Moonseeker shakes her head slowly while she takes in a breath. She should have figured this would happen. For a few moments she is quiet, unsure fully what to say it seems. "If you harm my family again your have to deal with me Malak.." Now it seems they are all she has left, and while she doesn't know them that will blood is stronger then many things. She doesn't care if his mad or not as she was expecting this to happen after all.
Malak is not angry enough to attack Moonseeker... But he remains displeased. "You act as though we would attack without justification. You ought to know us better. If your family attempts to attack mine, or again gives homes to those who do not deserve them, they will have been the ones to declare war. Not us." Should Aylin decide to stay and end up harmed, would Malak return to aid her? Absolutely, and he would not stop until all of Amaranth... Moonseeker included, apparently... lay in ruin.
Moonseeker maw twitches while she listions to Malak, an it bothers her to say the least. "I suppose that what makes this so hard.. I do know you better." She turns and starts to leave, tail lashing slowly as she goes. "We've been so warned then.." She knows Malak would keep his word though and she can only wonder what Kein will say to this. Her head tilts slightly, gaze resting upon the ground, maw tense before she speaks once more. "Goodbye Malak.." She was so close to actually being happy and look at what happened. With this said she move forward heading back towards home.
Malak watches Moonseeker as she walks away. Throughout this all, the only hint how much he liked this cougaress has come from the fact that he hasn't attacked her, and as she leaves, there remains no indication that he may miss her. Will he? Likely, no one besides Malak will ever know. Still, he watches for quite a while, well past when she is out of sight.
